Greg (MI)

Hi Myron, who do you think has the best recruiting class in the Big Ten this year?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:05 PM)

I think it's Indiana for sure. Especially with its depth. But Michigan adding Mitch McGary and Michigan State adding Gary Harris are big deals, too.

Max (Lawrence)

Who will be a better shot blocker next year, Jeff Withey or Nerlens Noel?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:07 PM)

Tough call. Withey was great in the NCAA tournament. But Nerlens Noel will be one of best, too. He's an amazing athlete with great timing and ridiculously long limbs. But until I know what Noel will do at the next level, until I see him compete, I'll go with Withey. But Noel has the potential to be the best defender at this level.

Luke (Ann Arbor)

What rank do you think that Michigan will be in the preseason?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:08 PM)

Should be Top Ten with Burke back, McGary joining the mix. All last season, you look at that team and you say, if only they had a legit big. Now they have one. Dangerous team.

Kyle (MO)

How big was Oriahki's commitment to Mizzou? Can they compete with Kentucky next year?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:10 PM)

Big commitment for Frank Haith, who really knows how to utilize bigs in his offensive schemes. Kentucky? Hard to say. Kentucky is loaded again and Missouri has lost critical pieces. But Oriakhi is a major boost.

Kevin (Pennsylvania)

How much does Mason Plumlee returning to Duke improve their ranking?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:12 PM)

A lot. I think Mason will develop in the offseason, get more touches next year and live up to the grand expectations that surrounded him in high school. You still have Dawkins, Curry. Sulaimon coming in. Solid team. But Plumlee is crucial.

sri (bos)

whats your opinion on larrybrown to smu

Myron Medcalf
  (3:12 PM)

Huh? That's my opinion .. Huh? Not saying it's a bad hire, just perplexing on so many levels.

Max (Lawrence)

Will Sam Dekker's offensive explosiveness be capped off by Wisconsin's tempo?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:15 PM)

Bo Ryan has had explosive players ... Jordan Taylor was ok, right? I don't think Dekker goes there unless he gets a chance to produce. And he will. Just because Badgers don't score 80 points per night doesn't mean players aren't impacting the game and enjoying the experience.

myron Medcalf
  (3:15 PM)

I think he'll thrive. Players contribute in Ryan's system. Jordan Taylor was explosive. He did OK there.

Noel (Visalia, California)

With Mbakwe coming back and Mo Walker also returning, could Minnesota finish in the Top 3 in the BIG next year?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:17 PM)

Possibly. We don't know if Mbakwe is coming back. Yes, he's returning. But we don't know what the knee injury took from him. Not doubting his rehab process, but you just never know. But if everyone is healthy, they could be a Top 5 team. But don't forget Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State and Wisconsin should be good again. Sleepers like Purdue, Iowa, too. Not an easy league. Never is.

Chris (Florence, KY)

What are your thoughts on UK next year if they get Anthony Bennett? Can they win a title with all Freshman and Kyle Wiltjer?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:19 PM)

Indiana is No. 1 and Kentucky is No. 2 in my book right now. Wildcats have Final Four talent today. If they get Bennett, they're No. 1 in the country. And yes, they could repeat without Bennett. With him, they'd have to be the favorites. I've watched Bennett play live multiple times. He's special.

Tony (Richmond, CA)

I know Geno Auriemma probably won't, but other than him, how much will college basketball miss legendary coach Pat Summitt?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:20 PM)

I think everyone, including Geno, is devastated by the news. Best coach ever. Check the numbers. Just sad for things to end this way.

Blue Devil (PA)

Will Duke really be better off without Austin Rivers?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:22 PM)

Hard to answer that. Probably unfair, too. If they're better, it will be because of various factors. Offseason development. Another Plumlee. Sulaimon. Mason is back and will get more touches. But they are losing a first-round pick. Rivers was their get-a-bucket-now guy. Who plays that role next season?

Tony (Richmond, CA)

Has Bo Ryan now surpassed Les Miles as the most petty coach in America? I understand not allowing a player to transfer to an in conference opponent, or a definite team on the schedule, but his restrictions went above and beyond reasonable. Coaches leave players at the alter all the time at the eleventh hour. The situation wreaks of hyporcrisy. Do you think his actions will bite him in the rear end on the recruiting trail?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:23 PM)

All great points. I don't know about petty. I don't think Ryan is the problem. The rules are the problem. A coach shouldn't have that power. It's a major problem. Coaches can leave when it feels right and the money is right. Players are punished for making similar choices. Not good.

Greg (MI)

Which freshman will have the biggest impact for their BIG team next season... Mitch McGary/Glen Robinson III for Michigan, Gary Harris for Michigan St or Yogi Ferrell at Indiana?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:24 PM)

McGary. He's very talented. And they will feed him in Beilein's offense.

Max (Lawrence)

Will Elijah Johnson have a break out year next year?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:25 PM)

Yep. The NCAA tournament was a great start. I think he'll be a major contributor for the Jayhawks. I'd be less concerned about Johnson and more curious about Withey's offensive development in the offseason.

Max (Lawrence)

UCLA or Kentucky next year?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:26 PM)

Kentucky. Mohammad helps. Still wondering if Bruins will have the right chemistry, though.

Noel (Visalia, California)

I know it's early, but who is your favorite to win AP player of the year?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:28 PM)

Cody Zeller

Myron Medcalf
  (3:28 PM)

Cody Zeller

Coach K (Durham )

Myron, why aren't kids coming to my school like they used to?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:30 PM)

There's a lot of competition out there, Coach.

Tony (Columbus)

Will Thad Matta ever win a National Championship with Ohio State? Seems like every time we have a team capable, they always choke.

Myron Medcalf
  (3:31 PM)

Can't say never. Thought he had a great chance this season. Better odds than the Greg Oden team or the Evan Turner team, given the climate. But he continues to recruit well. So I expect the Buckeyes to remain in the mix.

Peter (Chicago)

Where do you think Jabari Parker will go next year?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:32 PM)

Not sure, but he won't stay long. He's the most polished high school player I've ever watched compete in person. So fluid. NBA size. NBA IQ. Really knows how to play. He's special. I'd take him over everyone in the 2012 class.

Daniel (Dodge City)

Are you suprised that Michael Kidd-Gilchrist went pro?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:34 PM)

Not at all. But he deserved the opportunity to go pro last year. Hate the one-and-done rule. But this is what will continue to happen if it remains.

Shawn Bradley Guy (Minneapolis, MN)

What are your thoughts on the transfer ban list of Bo Ryan? If he's got a legit reason...why isn't he expressing it to the media?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:35 PM)

Again, I don't know the reasons behind it. But, he shouldn't have that power to restrict a kid like that. No coach deserves that power.

Josh (Las Vegas)

Do you think Cody Zeller will leave after next year?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:36 PM)

Definitely, especially if they reach Atlanta. Tom Crean has a beast.

Daniel (Dodge City)

Do you think the Kidd-Gilchrist could be the next LeBron James? Or is it to early to tell that?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:37 PM)

Too unfair to even make that comparison.

Chris (Florence, KY)

According to Anythony Davis, Noel is a better shot blocker than him. How scary is that?

Myron Medcalf
  (3:38 PM)

Frightening. I saw him at Peach Jam last summer. He blocked everything.

Chris (Lexington, KY)

What arguments can be made about UK now? Can't win with Freshman - gone. Can't win with new players each year - gone. Experience is needed to win a title - gone. Star freshman only care about themselves - gone.

Myron Medcalf
  (3:39 PM)

I never subscribed to those arguments. You have talent and good coaching, you can win it all. I give Calipari mad credit for the job he did this season.
