Russell will be here in a few minutes to take your questions!
Russell is here!
Russell, how do you think you have improved since the end of this last season during your training for the NFL?
I think I've been really watching my dieting and what I've been eating. I've been finetuning my game. I've worked throwing the ball with my legs.
What was your biggest highlight from your college career?
Playing in the Rose Bowl. There's nothing like that experience, playing in the Grand Daddy of them all.
Was the combine as much of a meat market as it appeared on TV?
Definitely. You have thousands of scouts sitting there as you're in spandex walking across the stage. But you have to respect the process.
Russell: How many teams have shown interest in you so far leading up to the draft?
Yeah, a lot of teams have shown interest. I just take one day at a time and we'll see where we end up in nine days.
How tired are you of questions about your height already?
I know that's something that's always going to be talked about and I'm not afraid of it. I'm not afraid of being 5-11 and striving to be one of the best QBs in the NFL one day. It's all about hard work.
Who was your favorite receiver to throw to at NC State?
Whoever catches the ball.
Who was your favorite team growing up?
I would probably say the San Francisco 49ers.
Great season, Russ! Ive enjoyed watching your games. Is baseball still a possibility for you or have you totally set your sights on a career in football?
No, I'm totally on football. I'm excited about my future in the NFL.
Do you have a preference where you play, East Coast vs West Coast?
No preference, just wherever the Lord takes me.
What players have you tried to model your game after?
I'd say Drew Brees is the main player. I love watching Tom Brady.
Are you going to miss the Wisconsin food?
It's probably a good thing that I'll be missing it! Cheese is my favorite. On Wisconsin!
What part of your game have you worked on the most this off-season?
I've been really working on my footwork in terms of moving in the pocket. That's something that Drew Brees does really well. It's something that you have to constantly work on.
How did you like your time with Gruden?
Unbelieveable experience. Super Bowl winning coach. Has a tremendous knowledge of the game. He gets you really fired up to play.
What is the situation you would most like to get drafted into in terms of QB situation? You don't have to name any specific names but I'm wondering if you'd like to go to a place with a messy QB situation where you could maybe compete for a starting job right away or if you'd prefer somewhere like Denver where you could learn under an "elite" QB for a few years before maybe trying for the starting job?
Either way, I'll be ready to compete.
Loved watching you this past football season. I am curious about something you said. You said "I am amazed that more people don't come to Wisconsin". What is the reasoning on why you said that? And would you be happy if the Green Bay Packers selected you in the draft?
I fell in love with Wisconsin. It's a great place to play. Great people. Great education. It doesn't get any better.
I think the Chargers would be a good fit for you. Have they spoken to you?
Yeah, I've talked to San Diego. That's where my dad played. It would be a great place to play. Plus Philip Rivers went to NC State.
Just how tough was playing in the Big Ten?
Definitely very tough. I played in the ACC and the Big Ten, both great conferences.
What round do you think you're going in?
I have no idea. I'm just excited to hear my name called.
what will you miss the most?
The jump around....electric.
What was your most memorable game at State, and your most memorable at Wisconsin?
My last one. The West Virginia bowl game.
What's your favorite pizza at Ian's?
I'm a simple guy. Pepperoni with extra cheese.
Hey Russ, is there a particular touchdown or completion from your college days as being a favorite? The completion to Duckworth in the Big Ten Championship game comes to mind for me, but I'm sure there are others you're especially proud of
I would have to definitely agree. But the touchdowns in the Rose Bowl were memorable because it was the Granddaddy of them all.
How far along did you get in your graduate studies at Wisconsin? If you didn't finish, do you see yourself finishing later in life?
I'll be finishing up this year.
Best and worst experience playing College Football?
Winning the first ever Big Ten championship game and being the MVP of that game. My worst experience was losing two back to back Hail Mary Games this past season.
I can't wait for the future. I've been truly blessed to play at NC State and Wisconsin. I hope you guys buy your jerseys soon. Follow me on Twitter: @DangerussWilson.
