Lamar is here!
what has it been like meeting with various teams and answering all of their questions?
It's been a great process. Meeting some of the coaches and the experiences, you only get this experience once. It's once in a lifetime.
Was the possibility of getting hurt and possibly ending your career your main reason for coming out early?
Not really. I know that RBs have a short lifespan. I think I put myself in a good position to get drafted. I just wanted to take my talents to the next level and live my dream.
What was it like playing in Miami?
It was good. It was a good experience playing at the University of Miami with their great legacy. There are some great players and hall of famers that played wearing the same logo. It was a great feeling.
What is the best place that you have visited for the first time as part of the pre-draft process? Thanks.
I really didn't visit too many NFL teams. Detroit had a nice facility.
Which nfl team did you root for growing up?
Growing up, I always rooted for the Cowboys because of Deion Sanders, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin. Those are some guys I admired.
What is the strangest question you have been asked while meeting with teams?
I really didn't have any strange questions. Everything was pretty straight forward and things that I could handle.
LM#6 Tell me what do you think you need to do in order to be the best back in the NFL?
I feel that just getting bigger and stronger and strengthening my pass protection. That's something I have to get better at, protecting the QB.
How much of the draft stuff have you paid attention to during this process?
I really don't read too much about it. Some of my friends talk to me about it, but I just stay focused on what I need to do. I watch the NFL Network some, but I don't really pay attention to it.
Cam or Megatron for the cover?
Tough decision. I will say Calvin Johnson, he deserves it.
Would you prefer to end up on a team that has more fellow Hurricanes?
It really doesn't matter. I just want to have the opportunity to play in the NFL and live a dream and do whatever I can to help the team win.
Best Miami memory?
Hmmm...I would say just running out of that tunnel and hearing the crowd yelling and screaming.
I just take a warm up lap and listen to music. I do that before every game.
draft day plans?
I will be at my mom's house. Some of my friends and family will be over. We'll watch it, play dominoes and cards until I get that phone call.
What can you bring to the pros that can benefit the team that you will play for?
I will bring a playmaker, a guy who can get after it on any given play. And competing, trying to make my teammates better.
Hey Lamar, which current NFL player do you think your game most closely resembles? p.s. - My chiefs picked up Allen Bailey last year, how much of a beast is he?
No. I don't compare my game to anyone.
First thing you buy with your first pay check?
I think I'll buy a car. Just something like that.
Tell us what it means to you to have come through the University of Miami?
It helped me prepare a lot playing at Miami. They helped me out, it's a big program, they played big teams and had big games. Working out there helped me a lot.
biggest ACC rivalries with FSU...what are those games like?
Everybody gets motivated, no matter what the records are. Nobody wants to lose the rivalry game. Everyone brings their A game and brings it to the table.
How does it feel to be the first 1000+ yard rusher at the University of Miami since 2002 when Willis did it? Thanks for making CANES NATION proud
It was a blessing. That was one of my goals that I put out before the season. I wanted to get 1,000 yards. That was something that I worked hard to get. It was a blessing to be one of the only RBs to do that at Miami.
What do you hope to accomplish in your rookie season?
Just do anything to help my team out. Play my role and get my team to the Super Bowl and get a ring.
I appreciate all of the support. Thanks for chatting with me.
