Hello everyone and welcome to today's UGA recruiting chat. I will do my best to get as many of your questions answered today, so I appreciate your patience. As always you can follow me on twitter @KippLAdams Alright let's dig in.
Any time-frame on the silent commits being made known to the public?
Cannot really comment on any silent commits, but I can say things are looking good in regards to Buford (Ga.) OL Josh Cardiello & Camden Co. (Ga.) OL J.P. Vonashek. Both still plan to make their announcements by the end of spring practice.
What other players do you think UGA will offer at safety? The state of Florida seems to be loaded with safeties; so why hasn't UGA offered any of them? They would be easier to recruit than guys in Mississippi or California.
I could see UGA extending offers to some bigger, strong safeties in the next couple of months, and there should be plenty to choose from in Florida. Marcell Harris from Dr. Phillips has an offer, as does Antonio Connor from Mississippi. Both are highly coveted by programs around the country.Ashton Shumpert from Mississippi, Simeon Thomas (Carol City HS), Jamal Carter (Southridge, Fla.), Ahmad Thomas (Miami Central), Anthony Walker (Pace HS, Miami) are a couple others I could see UGA looking at.
Do you see Tray Mathews switching his commitment and going with Foster to Bama?
I believe Tray might take a couple trips, but in the end I see Tray trying to enroll early at UGA in January.
Will UGA offer Jerimi Hall?..It would be nice to get all 3 of the Tri Cities kids, Devine,Hall and threatt.I think Devine is the best Tackle in Georgia, who is your #1 tackle in state for 2012?
Hard to say right now because UGA is looking really good for its top targets at OG/C. As of now I would say no, but if they decide to take 3 or more it could happen.I do not do rankings, but I would say from what I have seen I still feel the potential is there for DeVondre Seymour from North Gwinnett to be that top flight OT if he is healthy. DeVine has been very impressive this spring though.
What do you guys know about UGA and MacKensie Alexander's recruiting? As far as I know he has not been on campus. I know after he decommitted from TN that he had a visit with FL. I'm sure he's on everyone's radar, but we're not hearing anything out of UGA pertaining to him. I know we have other options, but it seems like this guy would be our number one target at CB.
From what I have been told Alexander is leaning toward Clemson and Florida right now. Even when he was offered he did not mention UGA to me, but I will check on him soon as he is definitely a top target for most schools.
Do you see us having a shot at landing the Package 3 (Matthews, Kamara, and Foster)...and are there any updates on Nkemdiche?
I think UGA has a CHANCE to land all three, but with Foster I think the odds are still against UGA. Kamara seems to be torn as I have heard good things with him in regards to both UGA and Alabama.Nkemdiche still appears to be a Alabama/Ole Miss battle with LSU and Clemson in the next group.
How are we coming alone with Laremy Tunsil? What WR are we looking to sign? Last are there any other QB we are looking to sign?
I think UGA is right in there with Alabama and Florida for 5-star OT Laremy Tunsil, and he is hoping to get up to Athens with his mom sometime this summer. He will likely be a signing day decision.UGA is hoping to sign at least 3-4 WR in this class, with Kyrin Priester already committed. Other top targets include Uriah Lemay from Butler HS, Marquez North from Mallard Creek, Taj Williams and Reggie Davis from Lincoln HS and Demarcus Robinson from Peach Co. They have also offered a couple juco WR in Jatavius Stewart, Corey Smith and Jonathan Rumph.
...OK Kipp. Here goes! IYO who does UGA end up signing across the OL? Thanks for all your Info! You do a Great Job!
If signing day were today, I think UGA would sign Brandon Kublanow, Josh Cardiello, J.P. Vonashek, Aulden Bynum, DeVondre Seymour and either Delando Crooks or Laremy Tunsil. But today is not signing day, so this list could change dramatically over the next few months.
Hello,-Are you believing the package deal with Foster, Matthews, and Kamara.-Do you believe derrick Henry will remain a bulldog, or will he go somewhere else?-Thanks for your time.
I believe three kids are enjoying the process and the attention they receive from having fun. Unfortunately this often spews over into twitter, which obviously no one can regulate even though it is very much a no-no with fans and prospects.I think Reuben Foster sticks with Alabama, Tray Matthews and Derrick Henry stick with UGA, and Kamara wrestles with his decision for the next couple of months.
What do you think the coaches told M. Adams for him to feel better about staying in state? It's almost like he did a 180.
I think he made a statement early on about leaving Georgia because it was exciting and new to him at the time. Once he made a couple trips to Athens, talked with the coaches, players and other recruits, Montravius realized he limiting his options by leaving the state, and that UGA could be a very attractive option and a great fit as a 3-4 DL. Rodney Garner and Todd Grantham are very effective recruiters, so no doubt in my mind they put in tape of players they have sent and coached in the NFL as their pitch, as well as the pending graduation of several DL for the Bulldogs.
Where do we stand with our D-line targets like Adams, Riles, Griffin, Woods, and any others you want to include?
Montravius Adams - Would put UGA right there with Clemson at the top.Antonio Riles - UGA/Florida battle for RilesKelsey Griffin - No favorites but UGA definitely right in thereJay Woods - Would say probably Auburn and UGA at the moment
With the evaluation period starting, who do you think is the most likely to earn an offer and then commit before NSD?
Well I had a video last month naming 5 guys in Georgia I think will earn offers from UGA. Two of those guys, JP Vonashek and Jay Woods, have since been offered by the Bulldogs.WR Ryan Jenkins is another to keep an eye on. He has been very impressive this spring and is making a case as the top WR in Georgia going into the summer.Hard to say which new offers would commit before signing day, as that is a long ways away.
Where do the Georgia stand Montravious Adams? Do you expect him to be a Bulldog come Signing Day?
I think the Bulldogs are surging up his list and are right there with Clemson and the rest of the programs battling it out. With the momentum UGA has right now I think the odds are in Georgia's favor to add Adams on signing day, but long way to go.
With tons of talent in-state next year, do you think Richt and company will continue to land top recruits from other states? Any top recruits from neighboring states getting alot of attention we need to know about?
UGA is hoping to sign 30+ if possible during the 2013 recruiting cycle, so getting a couple more out of state targets is very much a possibility, even with a deep crop of talent in Georgia.WR Uriah LeMay, ILB Tim Kimbrough Jr. & OT Laremy Tunsil are three targets UGA is after that speak very highly of the Bulldogs.
What's going on with Trenton Brown from GMC? Is he still being recruited by UGA?
Brown is still being recruited, and will likely be visited soon by UGA during the evaluation period. Look for him to start checking out UGA and some other schools in June.
When can we expect a Branden Langley commit? I think he is all uga!!!
As of now he hopes to make his commitment by the end of the summer, but never know as he could wake up any day and decide he is ready to go ahead and get it over with.Georgia is definitely in good shape with Langley as of now.
Have you heard anything new on former UGA DB Chris Sanders?
As of now, the plan is for Chris Sanders to return to Athens in January, and if Mark Richt is okay with it, for the former Tucker standout to rejoin the team.
Haven't heard much about Isaac Rochell. Is he a priority for Coach Richt and DC Todd Grantham?
UGA is not in Rochell's top four right now, so if the Bulldogs do want him, they have their work cut out for them.I am sure UGA likes Rochell, but guys like Adams, Griffin, Riles and now Woods are just as talented as Rochell.
Who is UGA recruiting at TE and how many will we sign?
UGA is after Josh McNeil and Hunter Henry. I think the Bulldogs would love to sign one elite prospect at the position for 2013.
Mark Richt has recruited Florida very well over the years? Is he pursuing Vernon Hargreaves to join Wiggins in the secondary?
Over the last decade, 29 prospects from Florida have signed with UGA. Notable names include Aaron Murray, Orson Charles, Blair Walsh, Max Jean-Gilles, Ramik Wilson, Jeff Owens and Geno Atkins.Every program is pursuing Hargreaves, but I have been told Florida and Clemson are the frontrunners at the moment.
Any updates on when the On-Campus Recruiting Coordinator Position might be filled?
Last I checked UGA started over from scratch and reposted the position on the school website.
Is there any way UGA can make lawson switch his commitment from Auburn?
Very doubtful, since they have not offered Carl Lawson.
Tunsil would be a huge recruit for Coach Richt, but isn't Josh Cardiello just as big a recruit, given he's a local kid, and top notch centers are hard to find?
No doubt Cardiello would be a big addition at a position of need for UGA. They need all the OL they can get in this class, and Cardiello is a strong, run block first OL that comes from a great program in Buford, GA. He plays with great feet, a flat back, and is a solid finisher as well.Interested in seeing how Cardiello develops under the new OL coach this year.
Do you see Brice Ramsey competing in any other Elite 11 camps? Is he in fact the best QB in the state in your opinion?
I think he has a great chance of getting an at-large invite to the Elite 11 in California and I do feel he is the top QB in Georgia this year.
Okay guys, that does for this week's UGA recruiting chat. Thanks again for submitting your questions, I enjoyed hanging out as always.
