Chat with Sean Adams

Avery (Texas)

Do you believe the rumors regarding Clemson and FSU joining the Big 12? If so?if not, why?

Sean Adams
  (12:28 PM)

I see a scenario where they would want to make their way to a football conference. Pitt and Syracuse joining the ACC and the already perceived notion that UNC and Duke run the conference has everybody on this point. I would still call it a longshot but after being at Doak Campbell a couple of years ago, they would be a huge get for the Big 12. Clemson too.

Ricky (Garden City Kansas)

Any news on Devonta Pollard?

Sean Adams
  (12:30 PM)

This biggest news is that he is wide open and everybody wants him. Coast to coast. He should end up making a visit soon to Texas but will be a guy that takes his visits.

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

Who wil the Longhorns Replace the Players who went to the NFL With?

Sean Adams
  (12:36 PM)

Brandon Moore at DT, DeMarco Cobbs and Steve Edmond and linebacker. Donald Hawkins takes the spot on the line. As far as the defense, they will be okay to start the year but could be better that the 2011 crew by the OU game.

dallas (north carolina)

If David Ash can complete around 65% of his passes and throw for around 2900 yards with limited interceptions. How would you rank their season.

Sean Adams
  (12:40 PM)

Well let me start by saying that I don't think he will reach those numbers, especially the 2900. But if he did have those numbers coupled with the running game and the defense, Texas would win every game on the schedule. I would probably put his numbers around 1900 yards and 60%.

Stephen (Seattle, WA)

Do you see anybody on the defense rackin up 100 tackles this year??

Sean Adams
  (12:42 PM)

This defense will be so good and so multiple, I have a hard time thinking anyone could rack up 100 tackles. I do see a bunch of kids with 70 tackles though.

Stephen (Seattle, WA)

I was asked a question by one of my friends yesterday because hes upset we lost the Sonics he asked me "What has Kevin Durant done for UT?"

Sean Adams
  (12:47 PM)

He was the first freshmen to sweep all of the player of the year honors. He has represented the university really well and spends plenty of time in Austin while still taking classes in the off-season. Was he on campus as long as people wanted him to be? No. But he has managed the one-and-done deal as well as anyone has.

Will (Fort Worth, TX)

Writers have been suggesting that when it comes time, either Tyrone Swoops or Connor Brewer will transfer. I could understand Brewer if he loses the job, but why Swoops? If you get three years to learn and one to play, you can still be aweaome and go to the NFL. I mean look at Matt Cassel.

Sean Adams
  (12:52 PM)

Don't forget that you never know what will happen with a player once they get on campus. There is no way to predict who might transfer. And everyone righting Brewer off should stop. He is a ball player.

Jose Cuervo (California)

No way Oklahoma beats Texas this year. 1. Kenny Stills is an inconsistent WR with a history of hamstring problems. We all saw that he couldn't step up when Broyles went down.2. Trey Metoyer is TFr and has never cought a ball in a real game. 3. Courtney Gardner is having academic issues. The dude may not even make it to Norman. And if he does, it wont be until late July or early August. That only gives him a few weeks to learn that huge play book and to develop chemistry with Landry Jones.4. Should any of these WRs suffer an injury, OU will be forced to use one of three TFr: Sterling Shepard, Durran Neal, or Derrick Brooks. Jalen Saunders, the transfer from Fresno State, will not be available until 2013.

Sean Adams
  (12:57 PM)

I have and still have the game as a 'pick'em' game. Texas will have the better defense than OU. They will have a better set of running backs and an OL that will be on par with each other. OU has a 5th year QB starting his 4th year, Texas doesn't. It's a pick em game.

Sean Adams
  (12:58 PM)

It is a pick em game for me. Texas will have the better defense and it won't even be close. Both OL's will be on par. OU has a 5th year QB starting his 4th year and Texas doesn't. Pick em game.

A Taylor (Houston)

Will Texas have a top 5 defense in the country next season?

Sean Adams
  (12:59 PM)

Considering the schedule and the fact that they can play themselves into greatness, it's close. I was thinking Top 10. Brandon Moore will have to play special and Jeffcoat and Okafor will have to play at a first round draft level in order for Top 5 to happen.

Johnathan Gray (Aledo)

Yo Sean, project my rushing yards, rushing tds and overall td totals for next season. And... will I be THE GUY in the Wildhorn?

Sean Adams
  (1:02 PM)

Come on man, you know I can do that (if this is you). You're a young man with big time talent. I just wish you big time success and a life filled with every dream you having being fulfilled. Again, if this is you.

Tony (Richmond, CA)

What former Texas DT does Brandon Moore remind you of? Does he have 1st Team All-Big XII potential this season?

Sean Adams
  (1:03 PM)

I don't have a comparison right now, at least not with guys that have played at Texas. He is such a lean 325 lbs. I think he could actually add weight and be fine and that is scary to think about. Yes he does have that potential and if I had to predict, I'd probably side more on the for side than against.

Gord (LBK)

AnY way to get a list of former UT players that transferred and the new schools they choose?

Sean Adams
  (1:04 PM)

Shoot me an e-mail and I'll pull it together for you. I need to have that information anyway. Let me not lie, one of my interns will pull that together for you.

Bill (NYC)

Sean, should Texas fans be disappointed by how this recruiting class is rounding out? Looks like no Wilson, no Manning, no Saamples, no Smith and probably none of the OOS DBs. Did we make mistakes not offering Smith, Massington, etc after the junior days?

Sean Adams
  (1:07 PM)

Not a chance. This recruiting class is loaded. You cannot find any fluff in this class. The coaching staff did the best they could with the information they had. This class will be Top 5 for sure.

jerry (san antonio)

Will Reynolds and Franks of OU be out of the RRR?

Sean Adams
  (1:09 PM)

I would be shocked if they were out but then again I'm jaded and don't have faith in the system. I don't get suspending them now so I'll say they are back.

dallas (nc)

More touchdown passes this season. Jaxon Shipley or Case McCoy?

Sean Adams
  (1:10 PM)

McCoy easily but that question did make me laugh. Thanks.

jerry (san antonio)

Really doesn't make me happy to see Vaccarro and Okafor in the news for trouble with the law. I've seen these two guys on sixth street before partying and I know they're good friends. Possibly our two best players. Your thoughts?

Sean Adams
  (1:13 PM)

Kids are kids. They made a mistake and have to do better. That being said, it allows the Texas staff to put the team on notice for the rest of the summer and issue a reminder of the fish bowl that the Texas players live it. I wouldn't get too bent out of shape if I were you.

joe (boston)

why does anyone even panic over who we get for DBs?...Akina seems to turn most of them into studs anyway

Sean Adams
  (1:19 PM)

I agree. The talent is so rich on campus and with what is coming in, some folks just have to chill and enjoy the ride. Has Akina ever let them down? Akina is a guy that loads of schools would take any day.

lance (utah)

who do you think will be the star on the offense? will texas have any individual players that defenses will need to scheme around?

Sean Adams
  (1:20 PM)

Everybody will try and stop the nasty group of backs that Texas has. Thus allowing Shipley and Davis to become stars. If I had to choose, I can't. I truly thhink this will be a good but starless offense.

Jose Cuervo (California)

1. Oklahoma St has a TFr at QB. 2. West Virginia is a home game.3. Oklahoma is decimated at WR an RB Dom Whaley is still healing from a broken ankle and will likely not be 100% when he faces Texas. All of a sudden this three game stretch doesn't seem so daunting.

Sean Adams
  (1:22 PM)

I agree but RRR is always daunting and West Virginia is good on offense, about as good as Texas will face. Not as daunting but still daunting.

Roger Goodell (James Harrison's Head Lock)

Over/Under: I will be calling the names of 5 Texas players in the first 2 rounds of the 2013 NFL draft.

Sean Adams
  (1:27 PM)

That's a tough one because it depends on who decides to come out early. There is a scenario where your prediction could be right on.

Tony (Richmond, CA)

Other than Jordan Hicks, which UT linebacker figures to make the biggest impact in 2012?

Sean Adams
  (1:30 PM)

Steve Edmond. Write it down. Thanks for all of the great questions. I'll be back next week same time, same place. Peace.
