Guys, Nick had to push the chat back to 2 CT. Lots of questions already in the hopper, he'll get to them at 2. Thanks.
Hello from the Berto Center everybody. We are sitting here waiting for the players to file out. Sorry for the delay. Let's get the chat rolling ...
How was the locker room after the game? More woulda, coulda shoulda or that Philly just beat them this time.
Taj summed it up best: "We blew it." A lot of sad and frustrated guys in that locker room.
Say the Bulls don't keep Asik, You see them bringing in Mirotic next season. If he can get himslef used to the pro game I could see him being a huge factor down the line.. I need you to answer this please.. Im a very sad man these days
Mirotic probably won't be coming over for at least three more years. Forget that dream for a while.
Going forward, why not amnesty Boozer, let Taj start at the 4 and use the amnesty money to find some offensive firepower?
Boozer isn't getting amnestied this summer so forget that. Plus, the Bulls' money is so tied up that even if they did amnesty him it wouldn't make that much of a difference this summer. I do think the Bulls will eventually amnesty Carlos but not for another year or two.
Does this hurt Thibs chances of getting a contract extension done in the offseason?
No ... I think both sides will eventually get the deal done.
Heard that some of the Bulls guys (King, Funk, etc.) got a beer bath from the Philly fans yesterday. Any truth to that?
Yeah, they dumped a beer on my man the Chuck Attack. That's terrible.
Two things:First, can we get some love for Omer? He played one of the best games i've seen him play as a bull. He was huge around the rim, on both sides of hte ball for once.Second, what would you think about an Amare-Carlos swap? It seems like both guys have worn out their welcome in their respective cities. Amare still isn't a great defender, but at least he is athletic
Omer played his butt off last night ... he just didn't come through in the end. Sadly, that is all anyone will remember.
Nick, show me some love buddy... is there any trade we could do to bring in a legit scorer?
Who? I don't there is a guy out there who would put the Bulls over the edge when you consider the market. Plus the fact that the Bulls don't have a lot of cap flexibility to work with.
If the Bulls declien Watson's 3rd year, will they be able to bring back Kirk?
I think the Bulls will bring back Watson .. but I think they'll look to sign Hinrich as well -- if the price is right.
There are about 200 questions in the pile right now and I"d say more than half are related to Boozer and the amnesty clause. Everyone talk a deep breath and read this: Boozer is not getting amnestied this summer. The end.
Nick, thanks for the coverage all year. Appreciated.Who do you think that the Bulls will have to cut ties with this summer when Rose's contract kicks in? Will they have any money left to sign a back-up for Luol or do you think this will be spot-filled by Korver/Butler?
My guess is that Ronnie Brewer probably won't be back next season. Jimmy Butler can step in and take his minutes. Kyle Korver may be back but the Bulls will wait to see who else they can bring in.
What will the bulls do with rip?
Keep him and pay him his $5 million guaranteed salary. Hope he's stays healthy ... which might be tough at 35 years old next spring.
Is there any reason to tune into the Bulls before the start of the 2013 season?
Yeah, Derrick Rose will be back. As Thibs said, this isn't a death sentence -- Rose will be back and he will be determined to get back to the level he played at before.
Assume you are GM and Derrick and Luol are both out until January, how would you approach the offseason?
Watch their workouts and hope they get healthy fast. The truth is there isn't much for Gar and Pax to do right now. They don't have a lot of money to play around with.
Nick, if Chicago had to choose between Omer or Gibson, who do they keep?
I think they'd pick Taj -- but they love them both. It all depends on what kind of offer sheet Omer signs in the summer.
How's Omer doing mentally?
C.J. said last night that Omer was OK and that if anyone should be blamed, it should be him. All the players felt badly for Omer -- they all stood up for him.
We just talked to Ronnie Brewer as he pulled away. He said Gar and Pax told him they would do everything they could to bring him back. We'll see.
With Derrick and Lu most likely out a good portion of next season, where do you see the Bulls seeded in the playoffs? And are you worried about the chemistry of the team following both surgeries?
No, I'm not. I think the Bulls' chemistry will be OK. As for a seed, it's too early to tell. It all depends on if Deng does indeed have to get the surgery and what other moves Gar and Pax make. I think the Bulls will be able to hold their ground for the first two months of the season.
Korver at least posed a small threat of an outside shot. Who does that next year?
Korver may still be back. Thibs loved the fact that even when Korver wasn't making shots he was still serving as a threat on the floor.
All right, everybody -- I am out of here. Thanks for all the questions during the season, I will talk to you guys in the next few weeks.
