Watching Law & Order, while I try no to let my kids - 8
I'd say home next month against the Arizona Diamondbacks
The more I hear about Flacco being a better quarterback than Romo the sicker and sicker i get. This is a classic example of people hating on the Cowboys, not Romo's ability. Where would you have ranked Romo among NFL QB's?
No, but I don't think Flacco is anything special. He's a solid QB, but nobody thinks he;s the focal point of their team. The Ravens are about defense and Ray Rice, then Flacco becomes the central figure. The Cowboys are all about Romo
JJT, If David Arkin gets cut...did he get a raw deal...he did not have the benefit of OTA's last season...but neither did Nagy or Kowalski....I remember hearing the audio on the Cowboys website where Jerry is very excited about this pick. What's your take on this?
Arkin ain't getting cut until the end of training camp, if then. Way too early to know how he's going to do
Could you trade Beaubois or Wright or Dojo to a lotto team 12-14 range for their first, if so, would you do it w/ this being a deep draft and maybe getting 2 top 17 players out of this draft?
I don't know why a team in the 12-14 range would want them
If Beaubois, Dojo, or Wright were in this NBA draft where would they go?
no idea. I study the NBA draft less than the NFL draft
Does Mike Jenkins have any leverage with the cowboys or does it look like he will have to play his contract out?
he has no leverage because he was hurt much of last season, even though he fought through it. Plus, he's in the last year of his deal. No one is going to trade anything worth a flip for him. His best bet is to play well in Dallas and make himself a desirable FA
More Pressure on Carr or Claiborne to make a big impact?
probably Claiborne since he got paid and as a FA he's supposed to arrive ready to ball as opposed to Claiborne who still must navigate his way around the NFL
The cwoboys ahd 5 rushing touchdowns all of last year, how can they increase that next year?
A full season of DeMarco Murray will help as will better play from the interior offensive line - center and two guards - when the Cowboys move inside the 10.. It also requires a commitment to run the ball
If the ranger made a trade by the deadline, what part of there tema would they boost?
probably rotation - even if they have to deal an asset such as Matt harrison. The lineup is good. Gentry is doing a nice job in CF when Hamilton plays left and Moreland has been pretty good at 1b. Still I could also see them making a move at 1B, if they could get a big-time masher. The bullpen is good. The rotation, aside from Yu, has been average for a month
Who's a dark horse in your opinion on the cowboys that can emerge as a good player for them this upcoming season?
good question. Doug Free can get back to being Doug Free. Bruce Carter needs a big year.
If you're JJ, what would you take in trade for Jenkins or do you simply tell him to suit up and try to resign him? Has that ship completely sailed?
shut up and play
Any package that dallas could give up to get Dwight Howard?
only if it includes Dirk
Will Jason Terry Return next year?
I wouldn't think so. He wants a 4-5 year deal AT 34. The Mavs won't go there. They'll offer him a 1-year deal. Or a 2-year deal at the most. So Jet will be on the runway somewhere last year
Will bruce carter be more then just a kevin burnett?
Carter will be making progress if he CAN be Kevin Burnett. This is a huge year for him. he must prove he can play. No handouts on this team anymore we've been told
Do you like sean lee's game and do you think he has probowl potential down the line?
yes. he's a playmaker. He hangs around the ball and has a knack for making plays
Spurs/Thunder who ya got and how many games?
reluctantly, I pick the spurs in 7. I'd really like to see OKC in the finals because I love the way they play the game
I don't agree with Mike Jenkins' stance, but do you really think there will be open competition for the starting CB jobs? I have a hard time believing that a CB they paid $50 million for and one they traded up a lot to get with the 6th pick won't be given the starting jobs regardless. There's a role for Jenkins but it's as a key backup.
He can play well enough to make the Cowboys have to make a difficult choice. Pro sports is about competing. Bobby Carpenter was a first-round pick who didn't earn a starting job. We think Claiborne can play, but what if he's a bust? Come in and earn your job - or at least compete for it. He's getting paid $1 million. No tears from me
If the current cowboys roster was on the field last year against the giants, do they win?
ultimate hypothetical. You should play it on Madden bro
How will the cap hit affect the cowboys in the rookie signing?
it just makes their budget tighter in FA in the offseason. On June 1, they'll start signing players when Newman's contract comes off the books. The cap hit is not a big percentage of their cap, even though every little bit helps
More likely to come back next year after a great season felix or jenkins?
felix, though I don't think either will return
Why can't fans just celebrate a victory without acting a fool afterward? Hopefully, eveyone pulls through okay. Last I heard, one person was critical. It just old and pathetic.
a lot of dumb folks out there in the world
Do u see any way that the grizzles give up rudy gay for basically nothing just so they won't be in the luxury tax? If so does Dallas have a shot at him?
No. But maybe I'm wrong. He would help because he can score.
The arbitrator in the Cowboys Redskins cap penalty case is a professor in U of Penn. Any chance JJ and Dan Snyder claim Eagle bias?
i don't think o...lol
Do the Cowboys have their #3 WR on the roster?
i don't think so. He probably won't get added until the week of the first game
This Thunder team has no idea what they are about to run in to....agreed?
Why not? They had a much tougher route in beating the Mavs and Lakers than SA, which beat Jazz and Clippers. They went to the conference finals last season and have three legit scorers and a defensive specialist. It should be a great series.
Hypothetically if Mike Jenkins decided to sit out the year, he would not become a free agent, right? Dallas would still own him for a season not played??
yes, they would still own his right and then he'd be another year away from FA. That's a really bad idea
What are the Mavs going to do if they don't land Deron Williams? Does Cuban hopefully have some plans up his sleeve to make some big acquisitions?
big, big problems because they're going to have all of this cap space and no one to spend it on. This approach was a gamble from the stat and nothing has changed
Have the Rangers been overrated in that some national pundits have been claiming them an all-time great team and far and away the best team in MLB? I say they are a very good team but don't have dominant starting pitching and therefore are far from a lock to win it all.
no. The baseball season is about ebb and flow. The Rangets are doing the same thing they did last year. They had a hot streak 16-5. They'll play .500 for a month or so and then rip off another hot streak. Play .500 and rip off another and at the end of the year, they'll be 25-30 over .500. Every AL team not named baltimore or Boston is 4-6, 5-5 and 6-4 in their last 10 games
For the last several years Jason Witten has been Romo's favorite target. Do you think we will see a % shift to Dez and Austin, or will the attention they receive force even more balls to Witten? Thanks!
witten is among the best in the game. he's going to get his opportunities. He's the guy who moves the chains and he's tony's security blanket
Does JJ bring Texas or TCU into the SWC next year to increase the interest and profile of the game?
not a bad idea. If he can get the right matchup, he'll do it
Bigger problem Cowboys still have interior Oline Depth or Pass rusher not name DeMarcus Ware?
interior OL. The guards and center are average at best right now
What do you think of the idea of picking up Roy Hibbert in free agency? How much would you pay for him? and will he be available if the Mavs are interested?
he's a restricted FA. The Pacers won't let him get away. They'll match any and every deal
In my opinion if you swapped Romo and Flacco for next season, Dallas would get a little better and Baltimore a little worse.
i'll buy that
What are you expecting out of Felix Jones this season? Is he basically just a nice change of pace back-up and that's his ceiling?
I'd say he is what he is. A nice change-of-pace runner who doesn't have the temperament or desire to be the MAN
Surely you can acknowledge the Spurs are very good right? Even historically good? Youre almost acting as if the Thunder are favorites by far.
I said I thought the Spurs would win in 7. The Spurs have a better bench and went 2-1 against them in regular season. The Spurs won 50 games and Thunder 47. But Mavs and Lakers are tougher opponents than Jazz and clippers. The Spurs have won 18 straight, so I give them a slight edge. But they're not head and shoulders better than OKC. They have an experience edge and home court and Pop is better. All of that equals a Game 7 win to me
Arod, Carmelo, Romo. See any similarities?
Please no Danny Coale at WR! I'm tired of the short fast white guy in the slot trend
he's not short. Don't buy into stereotypes.
Forget Yankees as asked in my last question. Do the knicks or cowboys win a championship in my lifetime if i live to be 100? (another 42 years to go, lol)
absolutely. but u might be in a nursing home
JJT, Dallas was eyeing Cyrus Gray in the middle rounds but someone drafted him a few spots ahead of them...is Gray better than Tanner?
no idea. I have no way to judge them against each other
Has Jason Garrett upgraded the coaching staff with the offseason appointments or will the upgrade in player personnel particularly in the secondary point toward being the reason for the potential improvement
I think so, but we won't know the answer until camp or the season begins. Then we'll have some tangible evidence
how many more solid years does witten have left?
2-3 as epicenter of offense. 1-2 as quality backup
Many experts say that Gasol is out the door because of his cap number and softness. But can the Lakers really trust the erratic Andrew Bynum after giving him the mega extensiion in July it would take for him to stay in LA? Is Bynum-Howard still a possibility?
I wouldn't trust Bynum. He has a loser mentality. I couldn't care less about his talent. Being a winner is much more about mentality than talent. You have to have talent, but mentality - the desire to compete and win - is a necessity. Bynum doesn't appear to have it
If you had to be Nostradamus and predict Garret's future, do you think he turns this team around soon or will he be added to the list of Phillips, Campo, Gaily, et al?
I like Garrett as a coach. I think he knows what must be done to put a winner together
JJT, do I have much as pressure as Romo to stay healthy and have a monster season in 2012 for the Cowboys?
yep. If u wanna get paid, then u better show up this year and ball out
Jamaal Jackson, Jason Brown, and Jeff Faine all out there and under 31 for the Center position. They may not be pro bowlers but they are better than what Dallas is going to force on us!!
then why are they out there. Just guys. You're better going with young dudes with potential
should rangers be woried about darvish after his terrible performance yesterday? that was definitly the worst he has pitched all season .........
King Felix allwoed 8 runs in his last start. The Ranger put 8 on Jared Weaver. it happens
JJ is it time to start letting Mitch Moreland Play more, He is really hot right now and I believe most of his issues last year were wrist related. I see him as a 25 hr guy if he gets playing time
he still can't hit lefties. a .188 average last time I checked.
Are you at all surprised that the Cowboys got 1 MNF game this upcoming year, I am kind of pissed off when the likes of SD, CHI have 3 and for what .
nope. They got a saturday game and thursday, I think. In addition to Thanksgiving Day. They always get a good number of national TV games. I have no complaints.
ravens would be better with romo than Cowboys with flacco. Got it?
Who do you have winning the west, and will they win it all
Sa, though I'd rather see OKC win, and yes they will beat whoever the East has to offer.
Is there anything to Mavs can realistically do this offseason or even next to build a team to compete with Oklahoma City? I guess you never know what the future holds, but that team looks set for the next 5 years with their core.
it doesn't look like it. The Thunder appears to be the face of the west for the next 5-6 years. They won't win it every year, but the road will go through them
This has been a terrific chat. A lot of thoughtful questions. I appreciate it. If u want to continue the conversation, then hit me on twitter @JJT_ESPNDallas. Peace.
