Candace!

Caleb (Onida, SD)

What has the organization done this season and offseason to make this a more successful season than in years past? And also how successful do you think the Lady Vols will be this season without Pat?

Candace Parker
  (4:04 PM)

I think we addressed some key positions. We got some perimeter players like Alana Beard. We've added some key players there who've given us some defense. And I think Kristi Tolliver is playing extremely well right now.

Andrew S. (Arcadia, CA)

You guys look much improved over last year. How has Nneka Ogwumike added to your team?

Candace Parker
  (4:04 PM)

She's added a great amount of athleticism as well as offensive rebounding, energy, running the floor. She's a tremendous player.

Cedron Mcknight (Los Angeles, California)

how you do feel about the sparks start of the season so far?

Candace Parker
  (4:05 PM)

I knew that we were going to be good looking at our roster. Many times before, though, we thought we were going to be good. We've really bought into our defense and we're just taking it one game at a time.

Vince (Anaheim)

Congrats on a great start this season. A game of 21 - who wins You, Shelden or your brother Anthony? Thanks for being in LA. I hope to make it to Staples on July 5th.

Candace Parker
  (4:06 PM)

Of course I'm going with myself! Those two guys have nothing on me!.....We've never played before actually. I like to have them on my team.

Jan (Kentucky)

Hi, Candace! You've had a chance to play against Glory Johnson, another former Lady Vol, this season. What advice would you give her about her rookie season in the league?

Candace Parker
  (4:06 PM)

We didn't really get a chance to talk during the game. I think she's done a good job. Tulsa has a lot of energy and that fits her style of play. I'd tell her to keep doing what she did in college.

Alisha (LA)

How do you feel about Pat Summitt's retirement, and how special is it for you to know that you helped win her last championship?

Candace Parker
  (4:07 PM)

You're sad any time you realize that time has flown by. She had a fantastic career. It's a huge honor for me to say that I was a part of the team that won her her last championship.

Dee Original (Kentucky)

The Sparks proved that they could compete with the WNBA champs Minnesota Lynx in their first meeting this season when they held leads on the champs throughout the 2nd half. Can the Sparks beat 'em? Can the Sparks take the West? And how's Nicky Anosike doing after surgery?

Candace Parker
  (4:08 PM)

I think that's the main attitude going in, we don't want to be competitive and have moral victories, we want to win. We have another chance at them in July. They've been together for a while. We have to do a lot of improving.

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

What will be the Hardest team that you will face in the WNBA in 2012?

Candace Parker
  (4:09 PM)

Obviously, I think the team to beat will be the reigning champions. They're tough because they have great team chemistry. So many other teams have new faces they've added to the mix.

Camille (Florida)

How is it playing with Kristi Toliver?

Candace Parker
  (4:09 PM)

It's really a lot of fun. I don't think I've played with a better shooter in my career. I'm glad she's playing well. She was one of the players that we were looking for. She's the kind of player I was hoping would come play for the Sparks.

Jackie McD. (New Jersey)

I know you are capable of playing various positions but where are you most comfortable? Also, do you decide when to take over a game or do you wait for your coach to make that decision?

Candace Parker
  (4:10 PM)

I'm most comfotable at the four. I feel like I'm versatile enough to post someone up and take them off the dribble, while hitting some shots.

Sonya T. (Richmond, Virginia)

How do you balance being a mother, wife, and athlete which each is demanding; while being married to another athlete? Go VOLS!

Candace Parker
  (4:11 PM)

It's extremely tough. We have to fill in when the other is away and vice versa. We manage. We know each other's schedule and we just try to make it work.

Ian (NY)

Who is the toughest post player you have ever gone up against?

Candace Parker
  (4:11 PM)

I would say Lisa Leslie every day in practice. She's one of the best if not the best post player ever to play. It was tough going up against her when we were in practice.

Super Sonics (USA)

This year I hope you stay health, and good luck in the Olympics. Is the new coaching system the only reason for the better start, or has the Sparks just have final learned to play togeather?

Candace Parker
  (4:12 PM)

I think we've adjusted well to the new coaching system. I don't think we've adjusted all of the way. I'm glad we're winning while learning instead of the alternative.

Joshua Agee (Mississippi)

You're the only Olympian on the Sparks roster. You've proven yourself to be one of the greatest in the game, but you don't always have the ball when a basket is needed or at end of the game situations when the game is on the line. Where did you learn to stay so humble and to trust your teammates?

Candace Parker
  (4:13 PM)

I'm the type of person where sometimes I draw so much attention at the end of the games because I'm not going to take a shot over 3 people. I trust my teammates to get the best look.

Fanbased (USA)

Do you want your daughter to follow in your footsteps?

Candace Parker
  (4:14 PM)

I want my daughter to do whatever her passion is, whether it's basketball or something else. I want her to follow her heart and I'll support her no matter what.

Grace (NYC)

what are practices like?

Candace Parker
  (4:14 PM)

Practices are extremely tough. We go against guys a lot of the time. When we do go against each other, it is competitive. We want to win. That makes us that much better.

Shirley (D.C.)

Hi Candace!I'm a true Mystics Founding Fan, but you now have two of my favorite players on your team, Alana and Marissa. Teach them everything you know and I'm sure they'll do their best. What do you thin L.A. Needs to do this year to win the championship? Give your cute daughter a big hug for me!

Candace Parker
  (4:15 PM)

I think we need to focus on limiting our turnovers as well as being fluid in our defensive concepts. And trusting each other. We have to trust our teammates.

Ian (NY)

What do you think of a WNBA dunk contest next year between you, Brittney Griner and Sylvia Fowles! Sure would be fun to watch! On another note, do you think we will ever see a Women's basketball video game?

Candace Parker
  (4:16 PM)

I think that would be a fun activity and a fun idea. I think a lot of people would be interested in that.

Sarah

Are you looking forward to the olyumpics?

Candace Parker
  (4:17 PM)

I'm really looking forward to the Olympics. I really am excited to go for that gold medal.

DeeDee (Detroit)

What advice do you have to give to an apsiring WNBA Player

Candace Parker
  (4:17 PM)

I would just say be the first person in the gym and the last to leave. Basketball is about mental toughness and muscle memory. If you do it enough times you'll start to believe in yourself and that's half the battle.

Candace Parker
  (4:18 PM)

Thank you so much for joining me on the chat! I hope to do it again in the future.
