Do you see Julio being able to knock out Andy Lee? Lee seems to be able to take a hit so this feels like it will be a slug fest leading up to a decision.
Yeah, I think we can break him down in the early rounds and then get a knock out late.
How much longer can Chavez stay at 160? Will he be competitive at 168 against the big names there?
Yeah, after this fight, we'll probably go to 168.
Good morning Mr. Roach, is it difficult training multiple top flight boxers at the same time, Manny, Amir, Julio Jr. etc. do they ever complain about schedules or divided time?
No, I take them with me when I can. For the most part, they're all really good guys and they understand.
Thoughts on a Julio vs. Kelly Pavlik fight within the next 8 months?
I'll take him next.
What is your opinion on the decision in the Pacquiao fight?
Hey Freddie - I was born and raised in Brockton, MA. Do you ever miss anything about Massachusetts? Who's your favorite fighter to come out of that area?
I don't miss the cold weather.
What do you feel JCCj's biggest advantages are in this fight? What is his biggest challenge with facing Lee?
The biggest advantage will be his strength. His biggest challenge will be his opponents height and weight advantage.
How bad do you think decisions like last Saturday's hurt boxing?
It hurts very much. Boxing always bounces back, but when you have bad decisions, it's going to hurt. UFC is gaining every day.
What changes were made in camp that allowed Chavez jr to make weight much easier than the last couple of fights? Do you think its just less distractions or where there actual changes made that you attribute it too?
We have the weight come down a lot earlier. We actually made weight last night. We only had to weight four pounds.
Hi FreddieWhat was the best fight you have witnessed while being ringside as trainer in your opinion?
Do you think Lee will fight JCC Jr. on the outside? If so, how does JCC Jr. get in and use his excellent body work?
Yeah, I believe so. He still has a lot of that amateur boxer in him and tries to use his reach and height advantage.
Hi Freddie, With all the bad decisions in boxing, what do you think is the first thing that needs to be done to fix the sport?
The retirement age is 65. Make them retire. Two of the judges were over 77.
If JCC Jr. wins, does he fight as the mandatory against Sergio Martinez? Is he ready yet? It's the fight JCC Jr. says he wants next.
We're willing and ready, yes.
what's the biggest key for Julio?
He's fighting a southpaw. His footwork has to be perfect.
What has been your favorite venue to perform in throughout your career either as a boxer or trainer?
Cowboy Stadium. Unbelievable.
Hey Freddie, any chance Pacquiao goes a different direction than the Bradley rematch in November?
If Mayweather comes to the table, we'll go that way.
Freddie, have you re-watched Pac-Bradley yet? If so, did you score it round-by-round?
No. I had to get on a plane that night for the hall of fame. No time. My DVR has it at home, but I haven't seen it yet.
what was it like to get inducted into the hall?
Great honor to be in there with those guys. It's a dream come true.
What has been the single biggest improvement you've seen in Julio since you started training him in terms of boxing skill?
did you have a chance to check out the hall while you were there?
We took a tour, then the parade and then the ceremony. I saw some of the archives of boxing. The tour they gave me was very good.
hey freddie when is your book coming out??? cant wait to read it!!
We've missed some deadlines. The first 200 pages were really good. We have about 50 to go. It is coming.
Hi Freddie, thanks for answering our questions! Do you see Seth Mitchell making it big in the heavywheights?
I think Seth is one of the better heavyweights out there. It's a big fight for him. But he's too small to beat the Klitchskos.
You've had to big fights two weekends in a row, what's up next for you?
Amir Khan-Danny Garcia, big fight No. 3 coming up on July 14.
Thanks to the sport. The Hall of Fame induction was great. I have a new ring. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for chatting Freddie!
