Ronnie is here!
Whats it like joining the Chargers and honestly do you think we have a shot at the Superbowl?
I was excited. It was a new opportunity to do what I love to do, which is play football. It's a new journey in life. A new team, new experiences. Last year was tough on me, so a new start is good.
What do you remember the most about your rivalry games with Alabama in college?
I think it was just the whole week of preparation. The excitement. When you actually had the game, it was so built up. When you got to the game, you tried to save enough energy for the game. Between the crowd and people, you get excited.
How do you see yourself contributing and fitting in with the team?
It's been great. I was out there for the OTAs and minicamp. I was embraced. I felt like I was wanted out there. That's a good start. We'll see the next few weeks and the next month how I fit in and get a better feel for my skillset and what they want me to do.
How different was the intensity when you guys were on the field against Alabama than other teams?
It was pretty consistent. Playing in the SEC, week in, week out the competition is tough. That game is added motivation. It's a well known rivalry. It makes you want to win a little bit more. It's the last game of the season, it's your rivalry game, your in state competition.
Is Philip Rivers the best quarterback you've been around?
Yeah, he's definitely one of the best I've been with. When I was in Miami, I played with 9-10 different guys. I played with Michael Vick. But as far as a QB and making other guys great and having the intangibles, Rivers is one of the best I've been around. He was on top of everything.
Grew up in sd....what percentage of game u goona run wildcat?u looking foward to throwing tds to gates in end zone?ala lt back in the day...looking foward to watching this season.....go CCHARGERS
I don't know, but that would be great. That would be awesome. The more you do and the more you get to do, that would be exciting, especially at this level. I'm always excited about it. My dream growing up was just playing in the NFL and get a chance to do this. I'm still just a kid in the candy store, even now.
How great was it to get to the NFL and see your name in Madden?
It was good. Growing up, wanting to play football and that being one of my goals. Seeing all of that stuff, that made it a lot better. It was a perk with all of that stuff. I don't play them a ton, because I am not that good.
If you had to pick a new position, what would it be?
I would try to go for QB. Or kicker. Maybe kicker, those guys hang around for a long time....I don't know. I probably would try QB, that's a challenge. I don't know if I'd cut the mustard, but I'd give it a shot.
Ronnie!!!!Great to have you in a BOLTS uni. I know you have had limited time to work with them but how does the O-Line look so far?
They look pretty good. Everyone's trying to get on the same page. Everybody trying to get on the same page is a big thing. It's not as much about the skill set of each member, but when guys are on the same page, it makes it tough for the other team. I haven't been out there that long to work with them, but it seems like all of the guys seem like they want to put in the work.
What is going to be your role in San Diego while playing behind Mathews?
I think it will be good to team up with him. He's talented. He has a lot of ability. To be a piece of the puzzle with a guy like that, that's good. He works hard. Seeing him out there, the way he works, that says a lot about him as a person.
were the practices leading up to Bama harder than the actual game?
They weren't harder. We made it harder on each other. The speed of practice and it was more physical. Everyone is moving around faster and making it harder to get ready for the game.
best part of the new city?
I didn't see too much of the city. I went downtown one night to get some dinner and watch the Heat game. The rest of it I was in the hotel trying to catch up on the playbook. The city reminded me of being in Georgia. Everyone was hospitable.
what made you pick San Diego?
When you look at stuff, you try to weigh your options, you try to choose wisely. The Chargers haven't done what they wanted to do the last few years, with the playoffs. The opportunity is there. They have a good group of core guys and veterans. The leadership is there to get to the playoffs.
best SEC food?
We didn't go to many places when we traveled. We were confined to the hotel. Being college guys, they didn't want us out on our own. The best was probably New Orleans when we got to see the city a little bit.
I appreciate all of the support. It's been long, but I appreciate all of the fans following me this long into my career.
