Malcolm is here!
How much did you guys hate Michigan when you were at OSU?
To be honest.....I didn't really understand it at first, but once I got there it was pretty amazing. We'd be in class and the lockerroom counting down the days until the game. How many days since Michigan lost. Looking back at it, it was a little overboard, but that's the way it was.
Who was you favorite NFL player as a kid?
Ray Lewis. Because of his passion and ability.
Malcolm, Do you have any pre-game rituals?
Not really. The only thing I really do is I listen to music.
What is something you learned at Ohio State that helped prepare you for your transition in moving to a new place like New Orleans?
The biggest thing I learned at Ohio State is accountability and responsibility. Coach taught us to take notes in meetings. How to be on time. How to be a professional. It really helped me when I got to the Saints.
was it weird when you got to the pros and had to be teammates with Michigan players after hating them in college?
It wasn't as weird as I thought it was going to be. I played against some of my teammates. Every time that game comes around, we watch it. I never lost to them.
How great was it to raise that Super Bowl trophy?
It was the best feeling in the world. Especially that being my rookie year and we had been to three straight bowl games, two being national championship games. It was a big deal for me.
Where do you keep that Super bowl ring?
I keep it in my safe at home. I've rarely worn it. I've worn it maybe 5 times since the Super Bowl. I try not to wear it until I get another one.
What did you enjoy more, winning a super bowl or beating Michigan 4 times in a row?
I think the Super Bowl might be No. 1, but beating Michigan 4 times in a row is a close second. Both of those are forever. My mom has all four of my gold pins.
Do you like any other sports if so what are they?
I'll watch championships for other sports. I don't really get into them otherwise. I'll watch the NBA Finals, Wimbledon, The Masters. If it's a championship, I'll watch, but otherwise, not really.
what do you think the Saints need for a deep playoff run?
I think we need to stay healthy, that's the biggest part. It will be tough on the schedule with Oakland and San Francisco. Atlanta. It's a tough run late in the season. The key will be to stay healthy to make it to the playoffs. Once you make it to the playoffs, then it's different.
What was your favorite memory from playing for OSU?
It would have to be after the 2006 Michigan game, with No. 1 and No. 2. It was a real close game at Ohio State. We beat them and whoever won was going to the national championship. The fans stormed the field and walked out of the stadium with big patches of grass. They had to change the field to field turf because the fans tore it up.
what kind of goals do you set?
Usually, I set things that I can do. It's usually I want to make the pro bowl, I want X number of interceptions. Recently, I've changed them to glorify God in the way I play and help my teammates. If I do those two things, I think everything else and the accolades will come, if I focus on those two things.
best thing about New Orleans?
It has to be the city in itself. If you've been to New Orleans, you know what I'm talking about. The food is amazing. The music is amazing. The culture. There is no place in the States like New Orleans. To live here year round, the festivals, Mardi Gras, it's a fun place. It's an amazing city.
how often do you get back to OSU?
I usually get back once or twice a year. I usually go back on my bye week. In the offseason, I usually get back for a week. I still have a lot of friends in Columbus. Catch up. Work with the young DBs.
how cool is it to see yourself in video games?
It was cool at first when I was in college, but I haven't really played NCAA Football or Madden since college because I hate to lose. I had a friend come stay with me in college to be my roommate and he was beating me and I was about 5 minutes from kicking him out. So I decided I was taking it all too seriously and needed to stop playing.
I appreciate everybody participating and answering questions. I look forward to doing it again!
