Thanks for all your questions. We are really excited about our updated rankings. I am just about to get Reggie and Dave - who is just finishing up on the Scott Van Pelt Show.

ku (md)

what are your thoughts on conner frankamp and brannen grenne talent wise?

Reggie Rankin
  (3:03 PM)

I really think Framkamp is an underrated athlete. He reminds me of a kirk hinrich or john stockton point guard. Greene can stretch the defense with his shot. I really like their size and fit for the Jayhawks.

Chris (NY)

Does Texas have a strong chance with JaJuanJohnson and Nick King?

Reggie Rankin
  (3:05 PM)

Thanks Chris, I think the Longhorns have a great shot with Johnson and King, as well as Demarcus Croaker, who impressed in July, especially at the adidas Invitational. The Longhorns are in the mix for some talented wings that fit their style of play.

Matt (Tucson)

What are chances Arizona lands Keith Frazier and Rondae Jefferson? Any chance of stealing Gordon away from UW? That'd be the No. 1 class in the nation

Dave Telep
  (3:08 PM)

Very realistic. Last year Arizona stocked up on bigs this year Sean Miller is stocking up on wings. Going into July, Arizona was leader for Jefferson, while Memphis and Texas A&M were battling it out with the Cats for Frazier. As far as Grodon goes, Washington and Lorenzo Romar is not conceding anyone. As far as top class, it would be a possibility I'm unable to say that with any certainty.

George H (Chapel Hill, NC)

Why did Nate Britt drop in the rankikngs? Did he get worse or just didn't show up like he does?

Reggie Rankin
  (3:10 PM)

We think Britt is a high-level PG but he had some inconsistent performances. In addition to that other players played better, which was the cause for the drop. But I think he will still be a really good PG in the North Carolina system.

John (Alaska)

Can Joel Berry eventually surpass Tyus Jones as the top PG in 2014?

Dave Telep
  (3:13 PM)

I don't see it happening as long as Jones continues to handle his business. Right now, we are evaluatiing Jones from a historical perspective because he has put his game on another level. Somebody is going to have to come charging hard to get in the conversation with Jones. Berry does a lot of what Jones does, there is just a different in the level right now. And that's not a slight against Berry in anyway.

Riley (High Point, NC)

What would have a bigger impact on a school, landing Jabari Parker or the Harrison twins?

Reggie Rankin
  (3:14 PM)

Obviously the Harrison twins, because it is two top-five players as opposed to one. Plus, they are guards who will have the ball in their hands. However, whichever program lands Parker is going to get a great player and a great representative.

Jim (Michigan)

Whats the latest on James Young? I know he has had a great summer. Is there a trimmed list?

Dave Telep
  (3:17 PM)

There is not a trimmed list but when you look at YOung, there are a lot of factors. Do other players commit before him. Kentucky comes up, Providence has come on strong and Michigan State is also a player there. Kentucky went three deep multiple times for Young this summer. However, until he sets his visits, it's difficult to know with any certainty.

Billy (Kansas)

Is 'Cat' Barber close to signing with Kansas

Reggie Rankin
  (3:22 PM)

I think Kansas is definitely in the mix in addition to Bama, Louisville and Florida State. Kansas and Bama have put in a great deal of time. I don't think anything is close to being decided though.

Chris (Bloomington)

What is going on with Trey Lyles? Please don't tell me he is going to be another big man that leaves the state.

Dave Telep
  (3:25 PM)

Trey Lyles decommitted on Tuesday but it wasn't a rash decision. It had been brewing for some time within the family. He did commit before he ever played a varsity game. We expect him to go through the process and every top-10 program will reach out. Lyle's dad said Trey wanted to look at UNC and Duke. This process got a whole lot slower. Will he be the next big man to leave the state? The last I checked, you got the best big mean -- Cody Zeller -- to stay in state.

Kevin (South Windsor)

Does Jim Calhouns hip fracture hurt UCONNs recruiting at all and if so how much?

Reggie Rankin
  (3:28 PM)

It does not hurt the Huskies recruiting at all. As long as he is coaching the program, his presence will be attractive to coaches. He has such a presence, he doesn't even need to wear his school shirt when recruiting.

Mike Dezervos (Mooresville, NC)

Why did sindarius thornwell drop so far in the rankings? I had heard he was having a good summer

Dave Telep
  (3:31 PM)

Every time you produce a list of this nature, you look back and question some things. We were probably very aggressive with Thornwell early on and we may have over-corrected a little this time around. I think he's improved immensely with his game and approach since last year. He may not have been the top 20 guy we referred to in the spring but the right way to regard him is that he is in the 25-40 range.

Rick (Kansas)

Connor Frankamp seems ranked lower than he should be based on how he was playing prior to injury. Do you see him moving up the rankings between now and next summer?

Dave Telep
  (3:34 PM)

Frankamp was one of the biggest movers on our list. Since the spring, he's been on a steady rise. He's gone from being a singular-dimensional shooter to someone who can legitimately play pg in the Big 12. There comes a point where athletically and from pure talent standpoint he is going to trail some guys. He has a lower ceiling and makes up the difference with his shooting. We have him in a really good spot.

Rick (Rhode Island)

Does Rhode Island and the Hurley Bros have a legit shot w/ Kentan Facey?

Reggie Rankin
  (3:36 PM)

I would definitely not write off the Hurley brothers for Facey thanks to their ties and reputations in NY and NJ. They will show him he can be an impact player for them and help them climb the standings in the A10. They will have to beat out some Big East schools to do so, but they are certainly capable.

Chuck (Ohio)

Why did Marc Loving fall? Also who else in the ESPN100 do you think the Buckeyes have a real shot at? Devin Williams,Thornwell etc? Thanks

Reggie Rankin
  (3:39 PM)

Loving fell because a lot of other guys were more consistent. He is still a high-level wing player and the Buckeyes are in contention for Devin Williams, made a late push for Nigel Hayes and are also actively pursuing Julius Randle, James Young, Wayne Selden, Kendrick Nunn and Austin Nichols. Their list is long enough with quality recruits that they should land some impact players.

Joe (Orlando)

Why is Austin Nichols so high?

Dave Telep
  (3:42 PM)

We spent a lot of time looking for guys 9-10 on our list. A lot of names came up and were debated. Nichols became a guy that as we looked at him, analyzed his game and projected the direction he was heading we took a chance on him. He's got a developed skill set inside and when he fills out that frame it should empower him with confidence. We definitely are projecting here like we did with Grant Jarrett last year.

Josh (Memphis)

Why did Nick King drop?

Dave Telep
  (3:43 PM)

Regarding Nick King, he's probably the best player in Memphis (LeRon Black bears mention too. King is a very good player and might be a McDonald's AA. When it comes to wings, guys ranked 12-55 have a legit shot at post season honors. The next step for King is to assert himself more as a scorer (he shot it well in the spring). He's a tremendous passer and teammate. What's the next part of his game he adds? A floater? Mid-range? That would be something that would help him advance.

Dave (Chicago, IL)

How do you feel about Purdue's 2013 class after the July evaluation period?

Reggie Rankin
  (3:45 PM)

I really like their perimeter commits in Kendall Stephens, Bryson Scott and Basil Smotherman. All three are talented, versatile and fit Matt Painter's style.

Matt (Milwaukee)

Gut feeling on how many guys Kentucky will land in 2013?

Dave Telep
  (3:49 PM)

The Cats are involved with the five best players in the country. It is easier to assume they will land at least two. However, this class may not be constructed until spring. But they will land another good class.

Sam (Washington)

What should I expect from JT3 and the Hoyas going forward? Any top prospects looking like actually possibilities?

Reggie Rankin
  (3:50 PM)

I think GTown really likes Akoy Agau from Omaha, Neb., He has talked favorably of the Hoyas in July and their history of post players has his attention.

Matt (Milwaukee)

Are Tyus Jones and Jahlil Okafor really a package deal?

Dave Telep
  (3:54 PM)

You have to take these things with a grain of salt, but why wouldn't they be. You're talking about a pass-first PG and a big who needs the ball. Both helped USA land a gold medal. Package deals rarely come to be, but if I was Okafor, I'd be begging to go to school with Jones. Behind the scenes you hear a lot of Mich St. KY and Duke for Jones, while Okafor's list might not be as clear. Overall, it makes sense to me.

Otown407 (Orlando )

Rashawn "Pookie" Powell had a buzz all summer, why the drop in the rankings?

Reggie Rankin
  (3:58 PM)

Agreed, he did have buzz and played well. But he's only one factor. He didn't hurt himself. It was more about his peers. He is still going to have some great options school wise. I know Illinois is after him and he should look to ride that buzz into the HS season.

Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)

Is Jaren Sena 100% commited to Northwestern? Why do you think he de-commited from Alabama?

Dave Telep
  (3:59 PM)

When we left Sina in the summer, he was locked in on Northwestern and trying to land other guys. His decommitment was a product of him being a NJ kid committing to a school outside of his region.
