Chat with Ohm Youngmisuk

Ohm
  (1:01 PM)

Hey guys! I'm at a Cracker Barrel doing this chat so let's get started! I had to check out of my hotel early.

Rich (New Jersey)

Don't expect to see Eli much after the 1st quarter, will he get maybe 2 or 3 series at most? And how much playing time for the back quarterbacks?

Ohm
  (1:02 PM)

Coughlin said 15 snaps for starters. Second team 20-25 snaps and third team quarter or more

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

Even though you Cover the Giants, Are you a Big Fan of the 2012 Summer Olympics?

Ohm
  (1:02 PM)

Absolutely. Love the Olympics. Watched a lot of swimming and track and field. But tough because of time difference and training camp.

Rachel (Hattiesburg)

Ohm! Will V Cruz still be an elite receiver not being in the slot anymore? ps.. Brett Favre is now coaching HS football just miles away from me. That's pretty cool to have him back.

Ohm
  (1:03 PM)

Hi Rach! Cruz will still do some slot on three WR sets, or at least that is the expectation. As for Brett, I would go every day to watch him coach. Love that guy! Is it at Hattiesburg HS?

Rachel (Hattiesburg)

OHm, I almost forgot. If you're a MF Doom or a Masta Ace fan you should listen to their new album collaboration. :-)

Ohm
  (1:04 PM)

Rach... you are the best girl!

Raphael (The Sewer)

Who will be the other receiver opposite Santonio Holmes? Can the Jets find someone to take the pressure off him? Chaz Schilens is always hurt, so it's doubtful he can fill the role. Meanwhile, Stephen Hill is a rookie who played in a running offense at Georgia Tech.

Ohm
  (1:05 PM)

Our man Rich Cimini, who covers the Jets, definitely knows but I'll say this Raphael... love to see Hill get that job.

Ben(NY) [via mobile]

How is Hakeem nicks progressing? I took him in the fourth round. That may be a steal or a risk

Ohm
  (1:06 PM)

WOW, dude that is a steal!!!! He ran routes this past week, no setbacks according to Coughlin. Dude, great pick!

Jeremy (Rockland)

Hey OHM, What's the deal with Mitch Petrus? Is he still a year away from starting? In the brief time he played last year, the Giants run game got a nice boost with him playing next to Boothe. With Bass at Center and Beatty unknown, is it impossible to have Boothe at LT with Petrus LG? Thanks.

Ohm
  (1:07 PM)

Well, he's got Boothe and Snee ahead of him. And if Boothe does well this year, Petrus will have trouble cracking the lineup. But yes, I think he could be a year away unless Boothe shines. I don't think Boothe is quick enough for LT.

Albert (Brooklyn)

What is the story with David Wilson is he gonna play with the second team tonight if not who will be the giants Brandon Jacobs this season?

Ohm
  (1:08 PM)

Albert, we don't know yet. My guess is Ware or Brown with second team, Wilson comes in on certain packages and then gets most of carries in second half... just my guess.

Lucas Croft (Binghamton NY)

Ohm,My greatest concern with the team this year is the O-line. Why do you suppose the Giants believe they can improve in this area with essentially the same personnel as last year?

Ohm
  (1:08 PM)

The Giants always believe they can improve from within. Remember, last year they brought that unit together with no offseason OTAs or minicamp. They feel with full offseason and guys healthy, they will be better. But Beatty's back is a concern.

RICHARD (Burtonsville,MD)

How do think the Black Unicorn will do this year?

Ohm
  (1:09 PM)

RICHARD, I think he has potential. Depends on how much he progresses with Eli. Big body, decent hands, good blocker. I think he has potential to be nice. But all depends on him and how much he progresses.

Bob (New York)

What will Reuben Randles role be with the giants this season? #3 wide receiver? Thanks!

Ohm
  (1:10 PM)

We'll have to see after the preseason and how he does. But I think, at the start, you will see him come in on certain packages as the third or fourth receiver. And then as he gets more comfortable, could be the third guy by end of the season.

Chris (NYC)

Ohm, Why do you think Paysinger is slotted to start tonight in place of Boley and not Keith Rivers?

Ohm
  (1:11 PM)

Chris, we don't know who is starting yet. But Paysinger has gotten the first team reps because Boley and Rivers was hurt. But I think you could see some Will Hill as the third safety in there as well. But I still think Rivers is ahead of Paysinger on depth chart. I think they want to see what Paysinger can do.

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

Will Giants CB Terrell Thomas play in 2012 Beginning Wednesday September 5?

Ohm
  (1:12 PM)

Chris, my guess is no. They got to be extra careful with him. No rush.

Drew (New York)

Hey Ohm, any hope that Bass regains his old form from SF and has a better year this year? An improved Snee and Bass can really help the ground attack

Ohm
  (1:13 PM)

I think the Giants are counting on that. But Baas has looked physical so far in camp. Health is big key. I think he is a bounce-back candidate.

john (new york)

hey ohm is will hill going to be the starter for the giants in the nickle tonight and was he a top recruit out of high school?

Ohm
  (1:13 PM)

I think so John. I think you will see Will Hill as the third safety tonight. But Rolle on slot receivers. He was among the top recruits in the country for sure.

Craig (Howell)

Hey Ohm, I should be working right now but i'm doing this instead. How do the other corner's look so far other than Webster?

Ohm
  (1:15 PM)

Thanks Craig! Don't get fired though homey. I don't want that on my conscience! Tryon is scrappy. Coe has been up and down but solid vet. Prince has shown flashes but also has been beaten a couple of times in camp. Jayron has shown flashes as well, physical and tough. Bruce Johnson has been solid. Tonight will be a key.

john (new york)

what is the chances herzlich gets the starting job over blackburn id rather see mark he has the most potential out of all are lbs?

Ohm
  (1:16 PM)

John, I suspect there is a chance... Herzlich has to beat him out in camp. But it is possible Chase starts the opener and Herzlich overtakes it as season progresses if he doesn't win job by end of camp. Herzlich looks HUGE.

Bob (New York)

Im going to their training camp Sunday. What are some things I should look for?

Ohm
  (1:16 PM)

Hey Bob. I would say keep an eye on Will Hill, David Douglas, Dan DePalma and watch guys like Prince and the running backs and tight ends.

Lucas Croft (Binghamton NY)

Ohm, would you say that the chance of Grant being back is now 0% since they haven't gone that way yet? Is Sash a risk to be cut because of his suspension? Has anyone suggested Thomas came back to soon or could this latest thing have occurred regardless?

Ohm
  (1:18 PM)

I would not say that, always could be an injury or Will Hill completely struggles but if Hill does well, then going to be hard to create a spot for Grant. Thomas says he did come back too soon. Just got unlucky.

Ohm
  (1:19 PM)

Thanks for the questions! Good luck tonight.
