Good afternoon everyone...it's a beautiful day in God's country so let's get this partaaaayyyy started!
The leader in my fantasy league really benefitted from having two or three guys for virtually all of the 2nd segment (Keselowski and Truex Jr) while their value stays the same as long as he holds onto them, while I tend to switch out drivers week-to-week much more often.Any drivers you REALLY like now when prices are "low"? Not really talking about a Sam Hornish more the guys at the top. Thanks.
Well, Zach Jimmie Johnson clearly has the best average finish over the final ten tracks..the last six year with 10.4..but right there is Jeff Gordon at 12.6 and Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick at 12.9...Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle 13.9...Tony Stewart 14.2 despite his amazing numbers a year ago..The thing to remember 5 of the 10 are on 1.5-mile tracks...Hamlin has been lights out on them this year and as of late Keselowski has been right there...This also makes Truex and Bowyer legit dark-horse picks...and while he hasn't won a lot of races Dale Jr. has been a top-10 everytime out on the mile and a halfs.
Who do you think will win the Dollar General 300 & the GEICO 400 at Chicagoland Speedway?
Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin are my pre-qualifying picks Chris.
WILL THE NO 13 TEAM PULL OUT ALL THE STOPS FOR THE GEICO 400? CAN YOU CHECK ON THE NO 95 TEAM WITH S SPEED DRIVING FOR START AND PARK STATUS? THANKS MARK!
Mears will be running the full race this weekend and they've held back a good piece because the race is sponsored by their sponsor Geico..We'll have to check on the 95 team at the track.
Where will Tony Eury Sr. Be the Crew Chief of in 2013?
Not a clue..he's at a point in his life if he just wants to go fishing he can...let's hope he will take time to enjoy life because the man has earned it and he's a really good guy.
In your opinion who do you think has the best chance to win the Sprint Cup Championship?
I like Denny Hamlin a lot...I think he's now mentally tough enough to take Johnson on...and a little birdie keeps chirping in my ear about Clint Bowyer, who comes in with a fast car and nothing to lost everything to gain so there's no pressure at all on him, at least, for the first half dozen Chase races.
Which Hendrick Driver them being Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Jeff Gordon, and Junior do you think has the best chance of winning the championship this year?
The obvious answer is Johnson, but Gordon has been set on kill lately and looking like his old self. If he can get off to a god start over the first three or four races and his confidence continues to grow...watch out for the old man with the scruffy 'stache...lol
Hard to ignore Bowyer's momentum right now. Do you favor him over Kenseth or Stewart for Chicago and Loudon? Thanks, Guru.
I certainly favor him over Kenseth..but Stewart is a question mark...he was junk last year until the Chase and then jumped up and won Chicagoaland and then went on a tear.
Mark, sending this in so I can get a nap before my Marketing class at 4:30pm lol. This week for Chicagoland I mixed in track record with form. So I have teh 48-16-15-22 on my prelim lineup. However have 3 starts with 48 and was thinking of using one of my two instead on the 17 in for the 48. Should I switch 48 for 17?I have 5 starts with the 15, 4 with the 16,88, 56 and 5. Should I switch out the 16 and 15 for any of those other 3. Thanks Mark!PS What's going on at RPM, just re-sign with Ford already, they need the stability.
Nick, Kenseth's record at Chicagoland not that impressive..Johnson's been good, but not great.. Johnson's average finish there is 13.0..Kenseth 12.9...Johnson though eight top-10s in ten tries..Kenseth last three finishes 23rd, 13th, and 21st..not exactly whoo-whoo if you get what I mean..I'd go Junior over Biffle..keep the 15.
Hi Mark. What do you think of this lineup:88,15,99,48,&55? 15 or 2? Thanks.
I can live with that line-up Jill..but if you have .2 more to deal with I'd take Kyle Busch over Carl Edwards..I also like the 2 just a little bit more than the 15..
Okay so going off that advice does this look like a good lineup for a potential long run (of course it's up to me to stick with it if I want to hold values): 2, 11, 22, 24, 48?
That's not bad Zach..but I also think you can build a decent team with the 55 as the floor pick this week..Martin is also running NH so he's not automatic trade bait next week.
Here's my pre-race top-30.......1.Denny Hamlin2.Brad Keselowski3.Tony Stewart4.Jeff Gordon5.Jimmie Johnson6.Dale Earnhardt, Jr.7.Martin Truex, Jr.8.Kyle Busch9.Clint Bowyer10.Kevin Harvick11.Kasey Kahne12.Matt Kenseth13.Greg Biffle14.Mark Martin15.Ryan Newman16.Carl Edwards17.Sam Hornish, Jr.18.Marcos Ambrose19.Paul Menard20.Regan Smith21.Juan Pablo Montoya22.Joey Logano23.Jeff Burton24.Jamie McMurray25.Trevor Bayne26.Bobby Labonte27.Aric Almirola28.Casey Mears29.Travis Kvapil30.Landon Cassill
Mark - do you have any ideas on who the start and parkers might be this week? You have Kvapil and Cassill in your top 30 but are they going the distance?
Yes, those two will go the whole way..the other normal start and parkers will do their thing Sunday.
Guru, Kenseth has good numbers overall for the 1.5-mile tracks. Is it possible to explain why he's struggled at Chicago in recent years?
No real way to explain it Mr, Phil-er-upper..He should be good a Chicagoland but just hasn't really gotten the job done there in awhile.
Are you or goober willing to let us in on your preliminary Chicago line up
That was hurtful Zippy.....but here you go...Dare to be great time...48,11,14,24 and 22..just praying Tony's been waiting to pick it up a notch..If I start to get itchy about Smoke..then would think of going with the 15 or 88.
GURU, Have 48-2-14-24-78. Can't get to 55, but can switch 78 for 22. Have been relatively happy with Smith but trust in the almighty GURU. Will be here for pre-race chat, but looking for what to watch out for in practice/qualifying. Thanks as always for the hard work you do for us week in and week out.
77 and 22 are a post-qualifying..maybe post crew chief chat thing for Sunday..I'm counting on Keselowski to help Hornish really pick up the program at Chicagoland..plus he's running Nationwide Series race..and they tested yesterday at Nashville Superspeedway together as well.
I hate to question you Guru but Jayski.com and Michael Waltrip Racing's sites both say Vickers in the 55 Sep. 23 at NH. Has that changed?
oops...Zach you're right..my bad..20 lashes with a soggy lasagna strip for me...lol
little off subject but Bowyer at the presser now is HIlarious . . . sorry Guru
The boy is a funneeeeee man..I hated Childress let him go...he used to live up in Davidson County, NC with the rest of us and he had a party going on all the time...like the time they filled garbage bags full methane gas and floated them over a bonfire...there wasn't a fire engine apparently available in the county after the police decided that little blaze and explosions needed to stop...lol..
Oh mighty guru....which team do u like best to hold onto throughout the chase?....11, 2, 15, 24, 55 (knowing I will need to swap him a few times) or 48, 11, 2, 24, 22?....your thoughts?
I think Jimmie Johnson's rounding into form so I like the second list a little better..and think Hornish will be good for a 13th to 18th every week...first line-up though no bow-wows, hound dogs or pet poodles in that bunch either.
Where were you on Tuesday September 11,2001 when the World Trade Center was Bombed & Several People were Killed?
I was actually getting my teeth worked on when the dental assistant stopped and watched...then she started shaking and said another plane had hit..and I said hit what?..I got out of the chair and turned around and I couldn't believe what was on the TV.
We should never forget what happened...and never stop hunting down the people who would do it again.
Got to run everyone...Sunday morning Chicagoland chat at 11:00 eastern...look forward to chatting again then...have a great week and may the force be with you...Sad to say but must "The Guru has left the building"!
