Hey guys, sorry for being a few minutes late... took a while to get in here.
What does the Giants have to do in Week 2 since they Stunk in Week 1 against Dallas?
Chris, stop the run, run the ball and don't give up as many big plays. I think they will be better this week.
Still ranked above Michigan. And still undefeated against Michigan in the last four years.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE,PLEASE,Notre dame beat these overated clowns from east lansing.Makes me sick everyday!!!The season goes downhill now !!!!Losers!!!
It could happen. But I don't see the season going downhill if they lose this weekend.
Ohm! I didn't draft D Wilson but would like to get him in a trade. With his poor performance mixed with Bradshaws good day, is it still worth it to try and get him? Thanks
Hi Rach. I'd say only if you give up something minimal like another backup. Wilson isn't flex-worthy yet so I would only give up another backup on your team for him. His value will increase later in the season with more touches but he still has Bradshaw ahead of him.
Big Ohm, what's good? David Wilson's fumble last week was immensely costly at a point when the Gmen were driving in cowgirl territory during a 0-0 game, so benching was justified in my opinion. But what does the team do this week to build his confidence and get some positive plays in for him?
Coughlin says Wilson will be a part of the game plan. How much remains to be seen. But I think if he can get some touches, that will help. Better than last week. Just let him know that they do trust him to make plays.
Did you love how my Dallas Cowboys slapped the Giants around the field last week? I know i did.
I was impressed with the Cowboys. Especially with the secondary. I don't know about slapping them around. But they played better and made the big plays.
Ohm, what are your thoughts on the game plan this Sunday? We know TB is going to try and "slow" the game down, but do you see the Giants throwing the ball more (or the same as usual) to try and get back that rhythm that was clearly lacking in week 1, or do you see them running it more than usual?
I think same as usual Steve. Giants always would like to run the ball a bit. But I think they got to establish the run with the pass now.
Why can't the Giants just trade a 2nd round pick for a solid corner or O-lineman?
Because Jerry Reese values his draft picks. And teams don't put solid corners and O-linemen on the trading block that often.
Hi Ohm,Can you explain the IR exception rule for one player per team to come of it after 8 weeks? I ask because the Gmen didn't exercise a player for this option. I would think, unless 100% certain that they couldn't come back this season, that they would have put Sean Rogers or TT on it. I know roster spots are limited but those are impact players if healthy. Thanks.
Any team can use this exception even after season starts. The Giants chose to hold onto their option. They decided not to use it on Rogers or TT and placed those two on season-ending IR. If they had decided that one of the two could come back and they wanted to use that option on them, they would have had to keep one on the 53 active roster on that Friday when they made final cuts. And then on the following Tuesday, they could have designated that player as the IR exception. In this case, the Giants chose to put both on IR and not use an active roster spot for one of them, thinking they would not come back this season to help and rather save the IR exception in the case somebody else does get hurt this season.
Hi Ohm,Who is the Giants starting Left Tackle on Sunday? Thanks.
Don't know yet. Could be Locklear again but Beatty says he is ready to start. Coughlin non-committal. Perhaps wants to see more of Beatty and ease him back in.
Haven't heard much about Hosley lately, is he fully healthy? And what can we expect his role to be this coming week?
Jayron says he is fully healthy. Coughlin said he wants to ease the rookie in, start him as the cornerback on slot receivers. I get the feeling they don't want to overload him.
hey ohm, what would you say is the Giants' best run-stopping LB group and pass-rushing LB group? I thought Blackburn looked a little too slow to be on the field as much as he was vs dallas.
Hmm... Best run-stopping unit (in my mind): Blackburn, Kiwanuka and Boley or Rivers. I'd throw Herzlich as option here as well. Pass-stopping: Boley, Jacquian and Rivers.
Do you think Nicks will have a big bounce back week after getting to rest the toe for a week and a half?
Possible. Gun to my head, yes. But he says he will be playing through pain for a few weeks.
not much of rueben randle against dallas...will he be more active against tampa?
I think they went with the receivers they trust the most right now. Have to be patient with Randle.
So frustrating Ohm, its not even like they looked good and lost a close game. Yes they one the superbowl, but they were a few plays from not even being in the dance. What does this team need to play consistently well ?
Jake, that is the million dollar question. Remember how they looked last year in the opener against Washington? The team is maddeningly frustrating sometimes. Hard to explain. They got to have their backs up against the wall sometimes to play well.
Ohm, can you update us on the CBs - who's practicing, how they look in drills, and possibly any off-the-street FAs the Giants may be trying out, etc.?
Prince is out there working. Coe too. We don't see all the drills. We get to see first 20 minutes of practice or so. But on Monday, Prince was moving well. They continue to work out guys off the street. But I suspect not much out there.
Which player should the Giants worry about the most on the Buccaneers?
I would say Josh Freeman. Stop him and the Bucs will really struggle. Doug Martin too.
how crucial will this game be for the giants pass rush?
With the last answer, yes, very crucial. Stopping Martin will be key to make Freeman pass.
Ohm, I have a two-parter for you:1. Is Nicks hurting more than he's letting on? I have a hard time believing Claiborne locks down a healthy Nicks in his first NFL game.2. What changes is Fewell making with the secondary? Just getting Prince back doesn't magically solve how atrocious they were last week, and he hasn't exactly proved to be a lock-down corner last year. I remember teams targeting him specifically when he was on the field.
I think Nicks is hurting a bit. He said he feels pain and has to fight through it. Will get better as season goes on. As for secondary, if Prince comes back, that certainly helps. But even if he were healthy, teams were going to target him. This is what you got. Hope the kid plays well. Or Coe fills in and does good.
Ohm, what have been your impressions of Martellus Bennett as a beat writer? Good guy, good teammate? Think he'll be an asset this year?
Love the Black Unicorn. Seems like a great guy. So far, he has looked good on the field. He just has to be consistent and continue to progress.
Any concern on the giants side for this game about their former QB coach now being on the bucs sideline?
Yes, and Bill Sheridan running the defense. A lot of familiarity.
Oh by the way, Isacc wasn't too bad in my area so we were very lucky. I missed the update on CB Thomas. Is he out for the season again? If so, poor guy can't catch a break.
Oh great! Good to hear you and your fam are safe. Yeah, TT was placed on season-ending IR I think the next day after we talked. Tough break for a good guy.
OK guys, about to go into locker room. Thanks for the questions!!!!
