Good morning, gang! Back for another 60 minutes of fantasy chattage. Second cup of coffee in hand. Who is up first?
What is the deal with Kenny Britt? Do you think he's going to take off soon or is it worth trading him sooner rather than later?
Last week was a planned "ease in" game for him. I think you need to wait until he at least has a 3-4 catch day before selling him, if you even want to at that point. Otherwise, you'll get little in return.
AJ, are you comfortable dropping Fred Davis for Bennett or Pitta?
I think so. RG3 is going to use his legs as the "escape valve" rather than looking to the TE.
What are the odds I keep my role as starter now that Leshoure is in the mix?
This week, I think you're still going to be OK. Beyond that? Timeshare is certainly on the horizon in my opinion.
How concerned should I be over the lack of carries and playing time for Jamaal Charles?
Not very in the sense that the score has been so lopsided and the team is playing it safe with his knee. That said, how likely do we think KC keeps games close going forward... that's the bigger concern.
Is Lafell a must start this week against an awful giants secondary?
It is an awful secondary. Made Mike Williams look serviceable. At the very least, it's definitely worth a look at Flex for LaFell.
Am I crazy thinking of taking Eli out of my lineup for Vick (@ AZ) this week?
I think you are. Philly lost two linemen and Maclin might not be in there.
Chris Johnson a buy low, or do you even bother at this point?
I mean, I have him ranked as my No. 30 RB this week. There's more than just smoke here. That said, if the Titans unleash Jake Locker and then fill in with CJ after establishing the pass, maybe he does recoup some of his value.
Is Matt Ryan an elite quarterback?
Not for fantasy purposes. Look at how he got the ball to Roddy and Tony and Julio all game, yet look at the fantasy numbers. Top 10? Sure. Elite? No.
Whats going on with McFadden??????
Got poked in the eye in Week 2. Hard to play when you can't see. Plus Carson Palmer throwing 48 times a game isn't helping. If they go to a more balanced attack, the Run will return to DMC.
Are you buying on Trent Richardson?
Not yet. Not that I don't think he has a ton of potential, but I need to see this Weeden-led offense perform at this level for more than one game before I am sold.
You buying the increased targets for Celek thus far? You like him more than guys like Fleener or Rudolph?
With Maclin out, sure. Vick has no protection and will send it to the TE right now.
Is RG3 for real to the point that you sit Brady?????
This week I do. But that's a compliment to RG3, and not a dig on Brady necessarily, who I think can still throw for 300 vs. Baltimore.
Better Bradshaw replacement is Brown on Thursday or Hillis on Sunday?
I'd go with the touches. If Bradshaw can't go, Brown gets the ball. Charles' status is equally murky and while Hillis may be the beneficiary, I'd hate to wait and then watch Draughns get as many touches as Peyton.
Should my owners pick up Alex Smith to play this week and sit me?
Smith does a great job for SF, and while that doesn't translate to big fantasy numbers typically, it's better than Schaub who simply gives it to Arian and Ben a ton.
I know you aren't Stephania, but any concerns with A.Gates returning this week?
Thanks for noticing. I think because it was close last week, this week should be a start for Gates. Obviously, it makes sense to have a Plan B in place, but if I had to guess, I'd say he goes. At least it wasn't foot-related.
Who's more legit- my Def or Seattle's?
On a weekly basis, I'd say it's yours. But with Leon in the return game, that D/ST has as much splash.
I'm in the middle of an existential crisis. Am I for real?
While I'm no Albert Camus, I'd say that you shall be no stranger to the top-5 this week or for the near future.
Does Big Ben start over Phil Rivers this week?
No, I'd go with Rivers. I can see the argument for either, and at the very least, Oakland's pass rush doesn't scare me as much as other teams. But it's close and given the Falcons have one less day to prep, I'll go with SD's man.
Not too confident starting Seattle's D this week....do you have any waiver options you like for the week?
Depends on your wire, but I actually like IND this week. No gabba gabba!
How do we know when a questionable player is active whether or not we should still start them?
I'd say if it is a "game-time call" then even if they do end up playing, they're clearly not going to be at full strength. If it's a "Q" on Tuesday, but they practice some during the week and it looks pretty clear they'll play before inactives come out, then I'd consider starting them.
What's the deal with Michael Turner? Do you think it's about time to sit him as it looks like he can't run?
Taking any potential discipline out of the mix, I'm not sure that the team was looking to go in a different direction just yet. But, of course, with the new wrinkle, at the very least you have to wonder if Rodgers won't be getting a few more touches in Week 3.
Back to the Giants situation: Is Brown just the guy to own this week (maybe next), while Wilson is the guy to own for the rest of the year? Just seeing if Wilson is droppable.
Fumble in Week 1, then he sits. Drops an easy pass in Week 2, then he sits. Coughlin's doghouse is not easy to get out of. In non-keepers, I'd be fine with a move for need elsewhere.
Why does Kevin Kolb hate me??? Am I almost Benchable until Skelton comes back???
I wouldn't go that far, but Kolb is managing the game by spreading the wealth. He's looking to win and not worrying about Larry's stats. There will be weeks when he gets 7-100 and weeks where he gets 1-8.
ESPN has Michael bush projected to score 18 pts in PPR this week????? is he really going to do that?
I don't have tonight's winning lottery numbers... but with Forte out and the yardage potential to go along with the usual vulturing, why not?
Loved the AI section in your book!! With Kershaw hurt who will win NY Cy Young?
Thanks! I think if Dickey can get to 20, it's his to lose.
Assuming more typical production levels for Welker while Hernandez is out, would you advise selling him before Hernandez returns?
I still like Welker. I think Belichick wants to win, and Wes gives him the best chance to do so... he may have been trying to send a message by not starting him, but eventually I have to believe common sense will prevail here.
After that debacle in Atlanta, would you feel comfortable starting me again this week?
Houston may be a struggle as well, but overall I think the first quarter was more rust than age. He almost pulled an Eli. Going forward, not concerned. This week, I might start someone else.
Is it just me or do they just like Peyton more. I'm clearly the best weapon, but they just don't use me. Why?
JC got hurt in Week 2. He wanted to go back in, but the team was just being cautious. I don't think it is a "we don't like you" scenario. In a close game, Charles will get the touches.
Is Donnie Avery or Jacoby Jones good WR3 spots for a PPR League?
Not really. Perhaps at the flex.
You wrote a book!!!? Next thing you know they'll let that Snookie write a book too....oh wait
Biggest upside surprise ROY on the way or optical illusion?
For real, though I wouldn't expect 12 catches per half going forward.
Who has more value moving forward Ingram or me?
Ingram, simply because come short yardage, he gets it and 6 points for a TD is more valuable than 50 yards in most scoring formats.
Big Brother! Who you pulling for? I'm all in for Ian...well played game from start to finish.
Ian's made his share of blunders. I'm with Team Dan all the way. Came in with a plan and a target on his back and still survived.
Do you believe in Hartline? Lotta targets.
I do. Certainly more than Bess, who has had similar flashes over the years.
First character to bite it (no pun intended) in series 3 of Walking Dead?
(Trombone) Please, can it be Mrs. Rick? PLEASE?
Richardson or Brown at RB for this week and going forward?
Gotta go Trent here, but not expecting another 100.
AJ should I be nervous about Steven Jackson? As with most of his owners, his value is in the amount of times he touches the ball... think that will dwindle?
I think there is a time-share brewing, but closer to a situation like in Houston, where it's supplemental and when Jackson has those days when he is on a roll, he'll still get 90-95 percent.
Please throw out some WR names to target for M. Turner. I gotta get rid of this guy before its too late!
I think that was 2010. Nobody is going to want him, my friend.
Best waiver pickup in a ppr this week (and for ROS): Rodgers, Leshoure, or Brown.
Leshoure. Should be starting in two weeks time.
ROS: Tamme or Bennett?!? (I'm torn)
Bennett will get more targets, but watching him makes me so uncomfortable. I'd feel better with Tamme.
"I don't know. His hat was here a minute ago."
RG3 > Eli this week?
500 is not going to come weekly. Yes.
TAGETING A TE, WHO DO YOU PREFER CELEK OR PITTA?
Big C, the Anti-Pirate. No "Arrrrrr." For whole season, I like Pitta. This week only, Celek.
Who do you want as a throw-in in a trade in a PPR- J Stew, Pierre, or Hillis? Thanks for the help
Hillis, on off chance he takes over at some point.
I think Dana in Boston meat DARYLL (sp?) Richardson vs ANDRE Brown. Not Trent vs. Donald.
Perhaps... darned repeat names. Andre in that case. When in doubt, you can always look to the projections as well... they go live by Tuesday AM.
54 minutes through the chat and no Spiller questions...unacceptable.Sell high or hold?
Hold. He'll have value even when Fred returns and could even keep the job, quite frankly. Nothing much has changed in one week for me.
What makes you uncomfortable about Martellus?
He's just not on the same page with Eli. Don't like his routes and tends to turn wrong way to meet passes. He's not bad. But... Uncomfortable.
Titans receivers. What's up with that?
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo-eeeeeeee!Locker has to be given more leeway. I think Britt, if allowed to play, helps the whole unit.
Drop Titus Young for Amendola?
And twice on Sunday.
That's my time for today. Sorry I could not get to all of you. I am on twitter (@ajmass) for those I missed and will check in there later. Until the next time, HEY! let's be careful out there!
