Chat with Bill Williamson

Bill Williamson
  (2:01 PM)

Hi everyone, let's get rolling.

Mark (Toronto)

I'm all for Reggie reshaping the Raiders, but cutting third round picks a year after they've been drafted seems pretty rash, doesn't it? Couldn't they have made attempts to trade DVD, Barksdale, et al? Even for a seventh rounder?

Bill Williamson
  (2:01 PM)

I think their best bet was continuing to devlop them. I don't think anyone would take them in a trade.

Barry RaidersRock Dodson (Moreno Valley, Ca)

Do you think Andre Carter can regain the form he had before his injury lat year and how long do you think it will take him to get up to speed.

Bill Williamson
  (2:02 PM)

He is healthy. I think he cna help in alimited role, for sure.

Kendall (NC)

Hey Bill! Any new updates on Willis McG. ? Going to start for Broncs this week or be limited?

Bill Williamson
  (2:07 PM)

He will know more on Friday. I think he should be able to play, not sure how comfortable he will be.

David (Fla.)

What do you see for Peyton this week? came back a little last week and looked pretty good. Long day for the Raiders?

Bill Williamson
  (2:07 PM)

I have a feeling he's going to have a good day. Getting more comfortable.

Zach (cheney)

Whats the overall opinion of the Broncos O-line? Ramirez seems to be the only one really struggling, but he is a backup.

Bill Williamson
  (2:07 PM)

Yeha, he is struggling. Kuper will be back either this weke or next week.

James A (NYC)

The hype surrounding Melvin Ingram has seemed to die down. How is he playing these days? He doesn't seem to be making the impact he was drafted for.

Bill Williamson
  (2:08 PM)

He's getign some pressure. He's doing Ok. Not great, but fine.

Donald (Fredericksburg, Va)

How is Kendrick Lewis progressing? I heard McCluster might be able to play this week. Is this real?

Bill Williamson
  (2:10 PM)

They are both limited in practice. I think both will be questionable and game-day decisions.

Mark (Toronto)

Is anyone in Oakland in danger of losing their starting gig to Carter?

Bill Williamson
  (2:11 PM)

I don't thibnk that will be his role. He'll be apassing-down specialist.

Randy (Wausau, WI)

Do you think that the o.t. win in New Orleans has and will jump start the Chiefs for the rest of the season? They showed a lot of heart by not giving up

Bill Williamson
  (2:13 PM)

We'll see on Sunday. But it seems like it has perked up this team. It gave them a lot of conifidence.

Aaron (Texas)

Chiefs/Chargers - high or low scoring game?

Bill Williamson
  (2:14 PM)

GOod question. I'm relaly lookign forward to it. If I had to guess a totla points I'd say in 44-47 point rnage.

Stacy (Denver, CO)

Is Ryan Matthews ever going to get it? The concerns of injury and fumbling have emerged again very quickly this year.

Bill Williamson
  (2:17 PM)

I understand the question. He is very talented, but at some point, he must stay healthy and must keep the ball in his hands. It is time.

Gabe (Denver)

What is wrong with WR D Thomas? VS Houston he seemed disconnected and not willing to give it his all on passes to him or in his area. he even walks back to the huddle like hes not commiting to plays or the team.

Bill Williamson
  (2:21 PM)

What struck me was the three drops. He has to become more consistent with his hands.

Mark (Toronto)

What's the word on Aaron Curry? He's eligible to be back in a few weeks, but is there any chance he actually will be? And if he is, does he sit behind Burris?

Bill Williamson
  (2:24 PM)

He has a chance to come back in abotu three weeks. It will be interesting to see whether Burris keeps his job. Earlier Thursday, on SportsCenter, Mel Kiper said Burris was the most surprising rookie in the NFL. He was a fourth-round pick. He is making a difference. I think he had a chance to be a long-time starter.

Brandon (Charlotte, NC)

Hey Bill. Despite the Chargers being in 1st place, the Broncos look to have the most promise about them. They only lost to the Falcons and Texans by 6 who are both top 5 teams. Do you see the Broncos coming out on top of the AFC West?

Bill Williamson
  (2:25 PM)

That is a question we have to wait a while before answering.

Josh (Cincinnati)

Is there any hope for the Raiders' secondary? Our offense proved it has the ability to score points...but I don't know if we can put up 30+ every week. Eventually we will have to stop somebody...

Bill Williamson
  (2:26 PM)

Yeah, winning ag ame while giving up 380-plus is yardage is not always going to happen.

Angel (NYC)

Could be that what our Man Al thought was a 3rd rd pick was more like a 5th or 6th rounds pick?

Bill Williamson
  (2:27 PM)

I think Van Dyke was overdrafted while Barksdale was just not a good fit for the new Oakland scheme.

Mark (Kansas City)

Do you anticipate Lilja and Allen to have a strong showing in Kansas City on Sunday? The pair looked surprisingly solid against the Saints after Hudson left the game.

Bill Williamson
  (2:28 PM)

Sometimes emotions take over. The big test will be this week.

Jean (Troy, PA)

Do you think AJ Smith deserves the blame for not having solid back up options for Jared Gaither and Ryan Matthews due to their injury history?

Bill Williamson
  (2:33 PM)

I think more on Gaither. He had a big history of injury and not having a seasoned vet behind him was a bit questionable.

Big Honk (Texas)

Would Tamba Hali be helped out more with the emergence of Justin Houston or when everything clicks for Dontari Poe? Defenses can't double all three.

Bill Williamson
  (2:33 PM)

The better Houston gets, the better Hali will be.

Rick Schwartz (Crete, IL)

Refs should be introduced out of tunnel tonite like players

Bill Williamson
  (2:35 PM)

I want everyone to remember this sentiment when you all call the real refs clowsn after they made you mad this weekend.

Gary (Marina, CA)

Is it too early to talk about a change at starting RB for the Chargers? Jackie Battle seems to be really making the most of every opportunity given to him.

Bill Williamson
  (2:36 PM)

Backie is anice backup. He has not shown he can be a a starter.

elvis (kansas city)

hey bill - realistically, where do you see the chiefs finishing and can matt cassel deliver for us? thanks!

Bill Williamson
  (2:37 PM)

I still think they cnan win the West. All four teams can.

Mike (New Jersey)

I've watched too many Raiders games to see that reputation had a lot to do with some calls. I believe the Raiders were scrutinized more than any team and the refs found it "easier" to throw flags. With these same refs now back, I can almost guarantee the flags will start flying again, its human nature that the same refs that called fouls for years will start again. Agree?

Bill Williamson
  (2:39 PM)

I expect penalties for every team to go up from the first three weeks. These guys are more confident and they see more things.

Greg (Tampa)

Chargers @ Chiefs. One team did great, then got stomped, the other got stomped, then rallied? Any momentum coming into this game?

Bill Williamson
  (2:40 PM)

Momentum is week-to-week. The Chiefs have it. Will it matter? We'll see.

Philip (Kailua, Hawaii)

Wither Gaither coming back for the Chargers Oline, do you think Rivers will finally get in sync?

Bill Williamson
  (2:46 PM)

Don't expect an instant solution. Gaither will be rusty. He basically missed all of training camp.

Chad (MileHigh)

think the Broncos should come out in the NoHuddle right off the bat from now on. The slow starts have killed the last two weeks. The effeciency is so much higher when they go into Peyton's No Huddle. Thoughts??

Bill Williamson
  (2:47 PM)

I could see that being considered if the slow starts persists. The number don't lie, the Broncos have been better in the no huddle. Manning seems very comfortable in it.

Andy (Chicago)

How is Charles feeling after that huge game last week? Sounds like he is going to get the load with Hillis hurting.

Bill Williamson
  (2:49 PM)

He's going to get the load, anyway. Still, I don't think the tema wants him to carry the ball 33 times for a second week in a row.

Bill Williamson

Cassell has regressed , how can the chiefs overcome in QB driven league?

Bill Williamson
  (2:51 PM)

He didn;t look bad in Week 3.

Tom (L.A.)

I'm not understanding why Joe Mays was suspended but Ryan Mundy wasn't. So if DHB lost a body part instead of getting knocked out cold and getting carted off, then there would be a suspension?

Bill Williamson
  (2:53 PM)

I understand you're thoughts. I think because he hit a QB has a lot to do with it.,How bout complaininh coaches getting a bigger fine than Mundy>I don't think that ref lost a part of his ear when Belichick grabbed him. Yet, Belichick and Mays were fined the same amount.

Dave S (The Ozarks)

I know its only 3 weeks, but I think its kind of a big deal the Chiefs O is ranked #1 in total yards. I think the D will be at least average. It was the O that I was worried about. As bad as they looked in Weeks 1 and 2, I think this is a playoff team. Do you still?

Bill Williamson
  (2:55 PM)

If the Chiefs can get their defense straight (it amde progress in Week 3), they will be just fine.

Bill Williamson
  (2:57 PM)

They are 1-2. Some good, a little mroe bad at this point.

Matt (Steinway)

True/False: The Broncos need to win this game to keep their season on track.

Bill Williamson
  (2:58 PM)

Honestly, that can be said for all four teams in the division.

Doug England (Altamonte Springs, FL)

How much weight training do players do during the season?

Bill Williamson
  (3:01 PM)

They are in the weight room regularly.

Bill Williamson
  (3:01 PM)

Great hour folks, talk to you next week.Enjoy Week 4.
