Sorry, I'm late. Let's chat. The locker room lasted until 2:10 p.m.
What's good Cal it's your south side potna again, give us a prediction for Monday night and what will be different about the boys after the bye
Car, my man from Raleigh.Listen, I like the Bears in this game. I don't believe in the Cowboys offensive line at least right now. If the Bears are leading the NFL in sacks rushing four, good gosh, there's no telling how many sacks they might get on Monday night. This is a big test for rookie Morris Claiborne, looking forward to seeing how he'll perform.
who is the better qb? romo or cutler? which one wins this monday
Tony Romo is a better quarterback than Jay Cutler, no doubt. Romo has better numbers and a better skill set. Cutler is regressing.
Could Barry Church's Achilles injury end up negatively impacting his career? He was never the fastest, most athletic safety around and this is a tough injury to get over. If he loses a step, couldn't that end his days as an NFL starter?
Church has one year left on his contract and I would think he might not be the same, at least for one season. But the problem is what do you do with him after 2013. Do you give him a new deal? Do you let him test the market? If he comes back stronger than ever, fine, give him a new deal.
Will you be very Happy to see Regular Officials Officiating the Bears-Cowboys Game on Monday Night?
Yes, but the regular officials can make mistakes too. After a while, the regular refs will get booed.
Are there any serious free agent Guards out there? Why shouldn't Da boys look at other OL options before the by-week?
The Cowboys already have their guards in Nate Livings and Mackenzy Bernadeau. Those two got a combined $30 million in free agent money last year. Those two are not going anywhere.
Considering how poorly Doug Free has played over the past 19 games, is there any chance we see Jeremy Parnell get a chance?
In the three snaps Parnell has gotten, he's missed a block, fell down and didn't block anyone. He's the swing tackle that hasn't impressed in a little amount of time on the field. Now Free has struggled this season, allowing seven quarterback hurries and one sack. However, he's better than Parnell.
Do you have an update on the injured players like Kevin Kolowaski, Ratlif, Costa, Matt Johnson and a likely return?
Kowalski is on the PUP and won't be eligible to play until after Week 8. Ratliff isn't playing Monday and could return after the bye. Costa and Johnson should practice next week during the bye. There will be probably just one practice next week, Wednesday.
Tony romo is a top tier qb my only knock on him is Dez is a beast when he is getting no time whatso ever tampa or seattle why not force quick passes into Dez and let him win out
I agree, Dez should get more touches, especially on quick throws and on deep passes. For whatever reason, Romo doesn't challenge defenders who are on his receiver on a regular basis. Sometimes you got to take a shot to let your playmakers make plays. Cowboys don't do that enough with Bryant.
Hi Calvin,I don't see y they waived MANA SILVA i think he played great with 1 interception do u think they bring him back to the practice squad?
No. Mana Silva's interception came in the preseason, but in the regular season he had a coverage bust and hasn't impressed on special teams. Cowboys think the world of Matt Johnson and he should return for the Baltimore game.
One more. Heard anything on fortes injury? I think if he is out cowboys chances improve a bit!
Matt Forte could play Monday night. I think the Bears chances are good either way.
Do you think the Cowboys put back to back wins together this week? Or play another inconsistent game after a nice victory like they did against Seattle?
The Cowboys are an 8-8, 9-7 team, have been the last few years. That's what they are. Until they get their act together and move forward with the personnel and the mentality of the franchise, that's all they'll ever be.
How much of a contribution should fans realistically expect from TE James Hanna this season?
Not much right now. I like Hanna's athletic ability. He needs work on his blocking, but he's got a future. Now the last time the Cowboys had a talented backup tight end was Martellus Bennett and you know what happened to him.
Why did Dallas spend $30 million on Bernadeau and Livings when they could have signed Ben Grubbs for $36 million? Wouldn't a Grubbs-Montrae Holland/Derrick Dockery/Kyle Kosier combo be better than the current guards?
Cowboys wanted to spend their big money on a cornerback, $50.1 million on Brandon Carr. Bill Callahan, the line coach, didn't like Grubbs. Kosier was too old and physically he was breaking down. The Cowboys didn't think Holland was better than the two players they signed. Same with Dockery, but he's waiting in the wings should Bernadeau struggle.
Do you see Jason Garrett coming back if the Cowboys miss the playoffs again?
Yes. Jason Garrett isn't going anywhere. We've played just three games in 2012 and the Cowboys could make the playoffs, or just miss it by a game or two, that's how close things are in the NFC. I would say if Dallas fails to make the playoffs in 2012, Garrett should be on the hot season in 2013. If he fails to make the playoffs next year, well, that's a long ways away. Let's just focus on this year.
CalvinDo u see WINSLOW on this COWS team he ask the PATRIOTS to let him go
I don't see Winslow being on this team.
Does Sean Lee take his game to the next level this season and become a supestar and household name around the league?
I think Sean Lee is doing it now. Not sure if he'll get a Pro Bowl berth, but it's clear he's having a strong season. Lee has emerged as a leader on the defense and a tough guy, someone who is willing to play through injury.
What in the sam Heck are you talking about: Mentality of the franchise? Are you saying this team has NO shot until Jerra goes away?
No. They need to add more pieces. Do you believe in the center, how about finding another outside linebacker if Spencer leaves. Age is a factor with the nose tackle. Will Dez Bryant emerge as a super star? Same with Austin? How long does Jason Witten have before he starts breaking down? Plenty of questions for a franchise trying to move forward. Jerry Jones isn't going anywhere. So it's pointless to talk about him staying around. He's here. The head coach has lots of power here, so look at how Garrett performs more than anything else.
Calvin y are so NEGATIVE towards the COWBOYS? And lets take a look at the NFC EAST GIANTS not bad, PHILLY is WORST imo WASH still not improving so what makes u think that the BOYS is that bad
Cowboys being 8-8 or 9-7 is bad? The Giants are a 10 and 11 win team. Philly is supposed to be that, but it's offensive line is bad. Washington is young and improving, maybe a eight or seven win team. The NFC East isn't a great division, just a competitive one.
The Cowboys corners have not allowed a TD to a WR in the first three weeks. Is it their play or is it too soon to judge?
Too soon, but I like what I see from the cornerbacks. Carr and Claiborne are fantastic. Jenkins had a strong game in Week 3. Scandrick is playing well too. Cowboys defense is playing well right now.
Mentality of the franchise was just a really odd phrase to me. Clearly this team is missing plenty of pieces. Say we get a top 15 pick in the draft and all things are equal among players in that draft range, what position would YOU prioritize?
Hard to say. Do you draft a safety? What about a defensive lineman? No wait, how about a quarterback?
How much cap space will the team have next season? Enough to get someone like Max Unger (assuming he goes for Ben Grubbs money)? Can you tell I'm overly concerned about the o-line
Salary cap changes every day. To say how much they'll have next year is hard to predict until I see who is cut and which contracts come off the roster. But remember the Cowboys will be in a $5 million hole on the cap as a result of the cap penalties. There will also be some dead money as well.
I have had a disagreement with a buddy. I think Mo HAS to be Elite very soon, if not this season to make up for the fact that this team had so many needs and probably could've got better value in using it's own 1st & 2nd round picks. What say you?
It's unfair to ask a rookie cornerback in this league to be an elite player. Just asking too much right now. Claiborne is playing well.
How has Tyrone Crawford played in his limited snaps? Has Kyle Wilber looked any good in his practice reps?
Don't see a lot of playing time for Wilber right now, however, I do like how Crawford is playing. He's a good pass rusher and he's performed better than expected against the run. He's been very good.
Who do you think is the most overrated and underrated player on the roster in terms of overall performance?
Underrated is Mike JenkinsOverrated is Doug Free
I understand that, but what you gave up to get Mo kind of means he better be damned good and soon. Or am I the only one that thinks we could've used a DT and an OL in the last draft?
Everyone, calm down. Claiborne is good, the Cowboys got the best cornerback in the draft, some would say the best defensive player overall in the draft. The line needs were addressed in free agency, just have to be patient. We've only played three games.
When you look at Garret on the sideline. What does he look like to you. A Head Coach or an Offensive Coordinator?
He commands the room and the sidelines. He's a head coach, no doubt.
Guys thank you for being patient. Sorry for the delay, by editors are gonna put me in a headlock and hurt me.Take care.
