Chat with Bill Williamson

Bill Willaimson
  (2:04 PM)

I love it when my internet crashed a minute before the chat starts.

benw32 (Broncosville)

BW, after the San Diego game, the Broncos will probably be favored in every game for the rest of the year aside from the Ravens game on December 16th. Do you think they can win all but that one?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:05 PM)

The schedule does lighten some for sure. if the Broncos win this game, they will be in good shape. Huge game for both teams.

Richie (Boston)

Would you say the Chargers or Broncos are more built for the playoffs?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:05 PM)

The team with the better defnese. The Chargers have a better D as of right this minute.

Richie (Boston)

After SNF, no one mentioned all week the questionable officiating that severely cost the Chargers against the Saints. If those calls happened to the Steelers, Jets, Giants, Cowboys, etc. there would have been a national outcry. Agreed?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:06 PM)

There were some iffy ones for certain, especially late in the game.

Matt (San Jose)

With the Raiders coming off a bye and the Falcons coming off a physical game vs. Washington, is there a glimmer of hope for an upset?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:08 PM)

Always a glimmer. But the Falcons are at home and they are clicking offensively. It will be tough. Yet, every good team has a stinker. Maybe it will come this week in Atlanta.

Tony (Utah)

Hey Bill I'm your new Stat man. Manning only needs to throw for 223 yards on Monday to pass for more yards the Tebow did all of last year. Kind of crazy how much improved our Offense is with Manning.

Bill Willaimson
  (2:09 PM)

That says a lot, doesn't it.

Nathan M (Texas)

I know this is late, but I thought Jason Campbell was starting to get a lot better before he got hurt, is he still capable of being a starter somewhere other than Chicago?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:10 PM)

He'd look good in Kansas City right about now, wouldn't he?

Nathan M (Texas)

How many wins to take the West?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:10 PM)

Before the season I thought 10. It may be nine now.

artofsilvernblac [via mobile]

Is tp that far behind rg3 and cam ? I day let him atleast run it since no 1 else can

Bill Willaimson
  (2:11 PM)

I think he is way, way behind as an NFL passer at this point.

Zac (Dallas, tx )

Do the Falcons have any chance of beating us this week?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:11 PM)

Yes, they have a chance.

Nathan M (Texas)

If the Chiefs finish 6-10 and have a chance to move up to take Geno Smith or Matt Barkley, do they do it? And what are their options other than that?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:14 PM)

It all depends on the draft order. I'd think, if they both do the right things, Barkley and Smith, have a chance to be top 3 picks. The Chiefs will need to have a pretty good pick to be able to trade up. Remember, the Redskins gave up a mint to move from No. 6 to No. 2 to get RGIII. If the Chiefs want one of these two players, they may need to have a top three pick and at this point, that is possible.

benw32 (A Mile High)

What the word on Kuper playing the whole game on Monday?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:15 PM)

We'll see. He was supposed to be bakc alst week.

dukie (CA)

your thoughts on the matt cassell booing situation?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:16 PM)

I made it pretty clear doing the week, I think.

Trevor (Toronto)

hey Bill, what should we expect from Quinn on Sunday?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:18 PM)

Not miracles. I'd say soemthing similar to last week's game plan wehn Cassel not given too much to do. Expect another big load for Jamaal Charles. It really hurts that Peytno Hillis is out with a high ankle sprain. This would be a great time to pound Charles and Hillis.

Corey (D.C.)

We are starting to see Ronnie Hillman sprinkled into the offense. Do you expect his role to grow as the season progresses, or will this be it for this year barring a McGahee injury?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:19 PM)

Yes, I see his role increasing. He is a rookie who is taking a normal route to the playing field. We will see more and more of him.

Will (Iowa)

Can you see the chiefs being 3 and 4 after week 8 tryin to climb back in the race?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:20 PM)

If the defenses continues to imrpove. But the turnovers on offense (no matter who is the QB) must calm down.

Zach (Work)

BW, if the season of woe continues for Oakland, does Reggie look to replace Dennis Allen? Or do you think he will get another year or two to right the ship?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:23 PM)

Thre is no way Reggie fires Allen this year. Allen was McKenzie's guy. They are tied to the hip. Thye both get, at least, three years.

Morgan (Raleigh, NC)

Hey BW, who is more at fault for KCs QB problems? Pioli for not retaining Orton or trying harder for Manning, coaches and their coaching/play calling, or Cassel because he doesn't have the ability.

Bill Willaimson
  (2:24 PM)

How about the team for not signing Orton?

Matt (DC)

BW, you mentioned that SD has a better defense. Is that because they have faced less elite opponents?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:24 PM)

Perhaps that is a reason. They have been pretty physical, but we'll see as the season progresses.

Jamie (BFE, Kansas)

I thought Quinn looked comfortable and in control on the field Sunday. Got a prediction for his TB performance?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:26 PM)

I think playing a whole game will tell the tale. last week, he was all fired up and the defebse had to adjust. I think he will see him air out the ball a few times, but he needs to rely on Charles and Bowe.

Al (Wausau, WI)

Bill, do you think the Chiefs' poor win-loss record so far this season (if it continues) could endanger Jamaal Charles' chances of having the NFL's highest rushing yardage total?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:27 PM)

He's going to get his carries as long as he is healthy.

benw32 (Where The Air Is Thin And Crisp)

Bill, if Denver wins 10-12 games, is Peyton Manning an MVP candidate?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:28 PM)

Yes, probably.

Mark Sanchez (On the way out?)

Any advice for how to slow down the Tebow talk from the guy who covered him last year?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:28 PM)

Not my deal anymore.

McNutty (Seattle)

What is problem with Denver's 3rd down D?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:29 PM)

Techinical term: It stinks.

Evan [via mobile]

von miller has 5 sacks, countless hits, and 12 tackles behind the line of scrimmage, yet no one recognizes him for what he has done this year. why?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:30 PM)

I think very well respected around the league. People know who he is. He won the rookie of the year, after all.

max (richmond)

what's up with taiwan jones? the offense needs all the help they can get

Bill Willaimson
  (2:31 PM)

I think he is just a change-of-pace guy at this point. Limited role, type,

McNutty (Seattle)

Seems like Koppen is an upgrade over Walton in Denver. Agree?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:32 PM)

Might be. I never got the sese the Broncs lovd Walton. Koppen has the skins on the wall that's for sure.

coolb (williamsburg, va)

any chance the raiders trade seymour or kelly, they are looking ancient, last game, 1 tackle 0 sacks combined, that is pitiful

Bill Willaimson
  (2:33 PM)

You think the market for old, unproducitve D-linemen is hot?

McNutty (Seattle)

Best defensive player in the AFCW right now?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:33 PM)

Milelr or Weddle.

Bill Willaimson
  (2:33 PM)

Mr. Buster Posey, ladies and gentlemen.

benw32 (Where The Air Is Thin And Crisp)

What grade do you give Jack Del Rio so far this season?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:34 PM)

B-. Good, but third-down d has been bad.

Reggie McKenzie's Fro (Fresno)

Will the return of DHB have any effect on Oakland's offensive woes?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:35 PM)

It won't hurt. He can move the chains.

McNutty (Seattle)

How concerned should us amazing Broncos fans be about DT's fumbling issues?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:35 PM)

It's a top worry. He is very good. But he won't be great until the fumbling stops.

R2 (Atlanta)

How do you respond to the fact that the Chargers can now pinpoint two specific plays in two separate games (Mathews fumble vs ATL, Ingram penalty at NO) where they simply deflate mid-game? I am wondering if they cant be great because they arent mentally tough

Bill Willaimson
  (2:38 PM)

I think they can be good. But they need to make some key plays. I'm high on the Chargers, but they have to get it doen in big spots.

Reggie McKenzie's Fro (Fresno)

Do you think any AFCW teams draft a safety? Phillip Thomas is looking better every week.

Bill Willaimson
  (2:39 PM)

I could see Oak, SD, and Den taking a safety. Not sure about really high, though.

Joel (Kansas)

Any word on Hillis and Dorsey?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:41 PM)

They are not practicing today. I don't see them playing Sunday. perhaps after the bye against Oakland.

58_VonDoom_92 (Wyoming)

Please tell me this will be the last year Joe Mays is our starting MLB.

Bill Willaimson
  (2:41 PM)

I think you will be OK.

Reggie McKenzie's Fro (Fresno)

Is Oakland on the Five-Year plan?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:44 PM)

Often, GM's get five years. (Yes, oen more year of Pioli in KC). I thionk McKenzie gets at least three years.

erik (va)

whats with battle in SD? Is he officially fantasy trash?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:45 PM)

He's a backup. THat's what he is.

mike (sun city,ca)

hey bill, do you think darren mcfadden and the raiders can be successful in the zone blocking scheme similar to houston and arian foster?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:45 PM)

That's the plan, but so far, it has been slow going.

Will (Iowa)

Who do you think will have more sacks at the end of the year Hali or Houston?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:45 PM)

Hoouston has a nice head start.

Nick (Los Angeles)

How have Denver's big pass rushers looked this year? That's the only thing standing in between a Charger victory, the question marks at the tackle positions. Also, I predict a Ryan Mathews coming out party now that Norv will finally let go of the reigns.

Bill Willaimson
  (2:46 PM)

Denver can be run on, so I cna Mathews having a big game.

58_VonDoom_92 (Wyoming)

AFCW Rookie of the year so far?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:47 PM)

It's close. I say Wolfe over Burris and Ingram at this point.

Tim (KC)

Even with Cassel going down, and distractions around the team, do you think the Chiefs could still make the playoffs?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:48 PM)

Hey, I picked them to win the division, but it will be very difficult Lots of problems.

58_VonDoom_92 (Wyoming)

Do we make it 8 for 8 and have a new DC next year?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:49 PM)

I think Del Rio will be around, at least another year. I don't see him getting another head coaching chance after this year. He's happy in Denver, anyway.

Jacob (Indiana)

Hey Bill! Do you think the Broncos have received any calls about Knowshon Moreno. You would think Arizona or GB would be a good fit. What kind of value do you get in return, 6th or 7th rounder?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:50 PM)

A seventh.

Steve (Fallbrook)

Any news on Gaithers status for Monday night?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:50 PM)

The team is hopeful he can play.

Bert (St. Paul, MN)

Is Jon Baldwin getting better?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:51 PM)

He's coming along but I want to see a bigger impact.

Reggie McKenzie's Fro (Fresno)

How much longer does McClain have in Oakland?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:52 PM)

A year or so. He needs to turn it on.

58_VonDoom_92 (Wyoming)

If we dont make the playoffs the next two years, could you see Fox on the hot seat?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:52 PM)

Fox has done a very nice job. The team and brass love him.

58_VonDoom_92 (Wyoming)

I know its early for draft talk, but could you see Denver hitting the defense hard in next years draft. Preferably MLB and DT picks 1 and 2?

Brady Quinn (KC)

If I tank this game, can I just go ahead and count on being a backup the rest of my career?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:53 PM)

A middle linebacker is a top priority. On Quinn: Yes. This si your shot.

Jason (Birmingham)

Is Antonio Gates done?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:54 PM)

He is fine. He is making plays.

Austin (CA)

How impressed are you with Justin Houston this year?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:55 PM)

I liked him last year and love him this eyar. he is tremendous. A real difference maker as a rusher.

Hobo (G-town)

Is a snickers bar too high an asking price for a Noshow trade?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:56 PM)

One of those little Halloween ones?

Tim (Denver)

What do you see the Raiders doing after this season at QB, provided Palmer stays at his current level of play?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:57 PM)

They gav up too much for him and have too many other holes not to keep him. He will be 34 at the end of next season. That may be it unless he makes a real impact.

58_VonDoom_92 (Wyoming)

Will Ryan Clady be back in Denver next year. He is playing himself into a pretty good deal right now. We many not have the cap space to keep him..

Bill Willaimson
  (2:58 PM)

They will tag him if a new deal isn't done. Amazing how good Clady can be again witha real QB to protect.

randy (sc)

Will the raiders hold the #1 pick at seasons end?

Bill Willaimson
  (2:59 PM)

If they don't get on their horse, a top five. Same for the Chiefs.

Waylon (Kelowna)

Hey BW, do you think Clark Hunt is tied to the hip with Pioli? If the Chiefs endure another losing year can you see them going after Jon Gruden or Bill Cowher in the off season?

Bill Willaimson
  (3:00 PM)

It's just a feeling, but unless things get really bad (and they could) I think Hunt sticks with Pioli another year. Pioli has done pretty of good things and Hunt likes him.

Rick (Marina, ca)

Is Liegut having a break out season

Bill Willaimson
  (3:01 PM)

Corey Liuget is becoming a man. A big man. He is tremendousd Be very excited about him, San Diego.

Robb (Colorado)

Demaryius fumble-itis. Short term disease or chronic syndrome?

Bert (St. Paul, MN)

Percent chances that Baldwin has Bowe's spot next year?

Bill Willaimson
  (3:03 PM)

If it is chronic, it will ruin a potentially great career. On Bowe: The way Bowe is playing right now, I think they may want to keep him.

Bill Willaimson
  (3:03 PM)

Great hour, folks. Enjoy Week 6.
