  (1:04 PM)

Hi gang: Sorry for delay - let's get to it.

Ryan (New York)

I just want you to know that when I start a player that doesn't perform, it's your fault and when I start a player that does perform, it's because I am a fantasy football guru.

Matthew Berry
  (1:05 PM)

Got it.

Ethan (Oklahoma City)

Really enjoyed your Love/Hate yesterday, what kind of trade value does Andre Johnson have?

Matthew Berry
  (1:05 PM)

Thanks. I value him less than others.. but I think you shoould be able to get a top 20 RB for him

Josh (D/FW)

Matthew - love your podcasts, articles, etc. Keep up the good work.My question is about Gronk. In my opinion he's been slightly underwhelming considering I nabbed him early round 2 in my PPR league (shouldn't have based it off last season, eh?). This weekend the Pats play an extremely tough secondary. My concern is that between SEA's secondary, home-field advantage, and the possible return of Hernandez, Gronk will have another poor performance. Should I play him in hopes of getting looks (I also have Welker)? I'm thinking about benching him in favor of Rudolph vs your favorite team - or is that a little too whoacrazycrazy?

Matthew Berry
  (1:06 PM)

I get it and I do like Rudolph but I have a tough time benching Gronk. I'd go gronk

nick (california)

Happy Friday Matthew, I was wondering who you thought would be best to start this week. Ponder or Vick? I like both of their matchups, but I havent liked Vicks play. Thanks

Matthew Berry
  (1:08 PM)

My weekly example of a question I won't answer because you can find the answer to standard scoring, single position who do I start: http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/football/ffl/story?page=12ranksWeek6QB

Thea (Denver) [via mobile]

Hey :) so I read you recent love/hate, and I totally loved it!!! It is so true, and I loved the honest way you addressed trolls. It is so wrong to curse or death threat anyone no matter what. I think that people don't realize that athletes are human beings just like me and you. They are living breathing people with lives, and families, and feelings. If someone hated me enough to wish for my death, I would cry. It is so wrong. Well, I just wanted to say that I appreciate what you do and would never troll you. I always read your columns and chats and love every bit. Some of your picks have burned me, but it's not your fault. You are human and can't see into the future. And ultimately, it's me who decides who I start. But some of your picks have been spot on. Your Percy Harvin pick this year? I picked him up in the 5th or 6th round and he is absolutely amazing. I could name more, but it would take up the rest of this chat. So, thank you so much!!!!! And don't ever stop doing this, because my team would be so much worse without you. I hope you have an amazing day and weekend :)

Matthew Berry
  (1:09 PM)

Thanks, Thea.

Ben (Maine)

Matthew with Greg Jennings being iffy this week I moved Malcolm Floyd up into his slot which leaves me a flex spot open.. Roll the dice with Alex Green or hope Aaron Hernandez gets a red zone target in Seattle?

Matthew Berry
  (1:10 PM)

Would have a hard time trusting Hernandez this week, esp with late game start. Go Green. In fantasy. And in life.

Levi (Luttrell)

I have a friend that refuses to trade me AJ Green for Wes Welker and Doug Martin. He's 1-4. Please tell him he's insane and to get off the pot before he's out of the playoffs.

Matthew Berry
  (1:11 PM)

It's a fair deal but I get not wanting to do it. Jury still out on Martin tho I like him this week. And Welker could be under used again when Hernandez comes back.

Ruxin Sheeva (USA)

Matthew, will you be making another guest appearance on "The League" this year? Really enjoyed the cameo last year and truly appreciated your candid post about poisonous fans this week on Love/Hate. Thoughts on Starting Mikel Leshoure vs. Andre Roberts at Flex this week?

Matthew Berry
  (1:14 PM)

Thanks - no, no plans this year for The League. I'd go LeShoure. Safer - he WILL get touches. I do like Roberts vs BUF so I get it if you want to go there - it's close, but I still believe in LeShoure

Matt (NJ)

Is a healthy Kenny Britt an every-week WR2 ROS?

Matthew Berry
  (1:14 PM)

WR3... Still Wright/Nate W there

TM-ARMY (DEFENDING THE UNIVERSE!)

TMR , Flex help - Alex Green or J-Quiz 12 team .5 PPR - Green starting but could split with starks....Quiz could get good mop up time vs Oakland

Matthew Berry
  (1:15 PM)

Everything you say is true but I go Green. Most upside

Chalupa batman mccarver (Chicago)

Already chasing this week after Mendenhall pooped the bed last night. With that in mind, do I flex Steven Jackson or Andrew Hawkins. Also, will you wear a different shirt for fantasy football now on Sunday? (gf noticed the white collar/maroon stripe is your go-to. See: draft special, week 1, and at least last week) thanks prettiest girl at the bar

Matthew Berry
  (1:18 PM)

Hawkins has highest upside, so if you want to swing for the fence, go him. S JAx a solid 6-8 points and hope for a TD. But Hawkins COULD have 115 and a score - Haden on AJ Green, etc....Ha! Thank your wife for noticing.. I guess? I couldn't tell you what I wore yesterday let alone on the draft special. But that specific shirt was closest I had to a pink shirt - for breast cancer awareness, etc. Tell her I promise her I will wear a different shirt this weekend. And thanks for watching

Alex (Anaheim)

Is is worth drafting a 3-point specialist like Steve Novak? Only at the end of a draft?

Matthew Berry
  (1:20 PM)

Depends on league scoring, size, depth, etc but in general, I find that the one category guys in fantasy hoops, like 3 pointers, blocks, steals to an extent are usually readily avail on waiver wire

Bob Gagnon (Connecticut)

The best Star Wars movie is clearly The Empire Strikes Back right? Whats your personnel favorite?

Matthew Berry
  (1:21 PM)

There's clearly a strong argument to be made for that one but I'm a sucker for the first one. So much of my childhood wrapped up in that one. But they are all great. I can't wait to make my daughters watch them

Ryan (Pittsburgh)

I had a gut feeling that CJ would be good against the pitt d since it is a similar defense to the texans.(still benched him tho) Do you think this is just a game he was productive or is he maybe showing signs of life?

Matthew Berry
  (1:23 PM)

We discussed on the pod. Mike Mayock made some great observations last night on the broadcast - showing how CJ is still hesitant in hitting holes, leaving yards on the table... he could have had a MUCH bigger game. Also, he couldn't convert a goal line carry, etc... His schedule DOES get easier next few weeks but I'd be looking ot deal him "high" as it were as opposed to counting on a full bounce back

ryan (los angeles)

is it time to cut greg jennings?

Matthew Berry
  (1:24 PM)

NO

Russell (New Orleans)

TMR: What did you think of "The League" premiere last night? Back to football, I would not expect Antonio to have 20 yds receiving when Big Ben goes for 360. Need a flex recommendation to make up for it. Doug Martin or Bowe? Both seem to have favorable matchups. Thanks for all the great work!

Matthew Berry
  (1:26 PM)

Thanks. Have "League" on DVR - wife and watch it together and she was out last night while I watched the game. Will watch this weekend. I go Bowe. Like both this weekend but TB so bad vs pass, I thought Quinn looked competetn last week in limited action (Bowe had a TD with Quinn called back) and you know TB will be geared to stop JC

Mike (Shelton, CT)

Matt, I'm sitting Rivers this week, I have Cam on a bye, I picked up Ponder Just reading off your love/hate do you think that's the right move?

Matthew Berry
  (1:28 PM)

Well, I like Ponder more than Rivers this week but it depends on who you had to drop to get him. While I like Ponder more than Rivers, I wouldn't drop someone good just to grab Ponder so a slight upgrade

Chalupa Batman MacArthur (Chicago)

Antonio Brown...ugh. Why fantasy gods, why?!?!

Matthew Berry
  (1:29 PM)

Yeah, that was brutal. He got targeted enough.. who expected Redman to have 100 yards rec? Big Ben throws for over 350, you expect Brown to be a big part of that... just a blip. He'll be fine

Andy (Chicago)

#1 waiver someone just dropped Greg Jennings. better up side ROS then Titus Young? must use waiver? other WRs C. Johnson and M. Wallace

Matthew Berry
  (1:29 PM)

yes, totally.

Jeff (Tampa)

I'm trying to move ALF for a big time receiver. A joker in my league offered me Steve Smith. Am I wrong to want Harvin instead?

Matthew Berry
  (1:31 PM)

No, I'd rather have Harvin too. That said, Smith for Morris is fair. A week ago (before week 5 games) I dealt Morris for Jordy Nelson in a ten team league where I needed WR help and had lots of RB depth...so it's same ball park

Evan (West Texas)

Who do you like as a flex this week, Ballard, Hartline, or Cobb?

Matthew Berry
  (1:34 PM)

Ballard safest... and I have Hartline ahead of Cobb too as he is safer than Cobb as well, but I do think we could see a huge game from Cobb. Gut call. If it were me and I wanted to swing for fencesd, I think I'd go Cobb. No Cushing, no run game for GB - they will need to get creative with him

jy (ny)

in a vaccum, would you trade Rivers and F. Jax for Cam ??

Matthew Berry
  (1:35 PM)

NO. Cam > PR but the dif between them is NOT F Jax, even in a time share...

rg3 (d.c)

do you still play me this week bf?

Matthew Berry
  (1:35 PM)

yep

Thomas (New Jersey)

I check up on your love/hate every single week. People ask me if it works, well I am 4-1 so I would say so. What call did you make this year that you regret the most?

Matthew Berry
  (1:37 PM)

Hmmm. Great question. I still believe in Rodgers and the elite QB's and I satnd by my Turner is overrated calls, despite neither looking great this year. I had Chirs Johnson in my top 10 - that's been terrible. I don't know - you guys tell me. What call should I have taken back?

Brendan (NY)

How are you feeling about Hernandez this week?

Matthew Berry
  (1:38 PM)

Not great

Andrew (Indiana)

Thanks for the love/hate always a good read and good advice. Enjoy your stuff. Throw a different name at you. Julian Edelman. What do you expect when he returns? His value and the other Pats value decrease, if any.

Matthew Berry
  (1:40 PM)

I think he's worth a deep flyer.... always hard to say with NE, but feel there's a decent chance he gets more snaps than Welker the way he was at start of the year. Definitely a guy to target in dynasty leagues

Shandan (New York)

Matthew, great Love/Hate this week. You definitely speak for the vast majority of us with your sentiment. My question is about Flex this week: Should I start Denarius Moore or Dennis Pitta? Pitta seems like a strong matchup play this week, but also think that the Raiders will have to abandon the run early and make Moore a possible volume play.

Matthew Berry
  (1:40 PM)

Thanks. Go Moore. Think that's a shoot out and he's Carson's fave target

Corey (D.C.)

Im curious, do you direct people to your rankings list out of principle, or do you benefit from the amount of hits your list gets? I like the chats and would like to ask start/sit questions, but Im never going to go read your list. No disrespect, just a creature of habit.

Matthew Berry
  (1:43 PM)

Neither. I actually get no "credit" for it, as it's listed as being by "fantasy staff." I get credit for people that click on my chats, column, podcasts, etc. Because you never know - people may be clikcing on ranks becuase they love Harris or Karabell or Cockroft...I do it because it's a short cut. There's so many questions, I can't get to all of them, so like, there's a Bradshaw or S Jackson question right behind yours. Instead of answering a million of those, I've already answered that. I ranked Bradshaw 19 and S Jax 23. Obviously, I would say start Bradshaw.

Mike (Ann Arbor)

Schefty reports Powell will get the majority of carries over LSH. William Powell over/under 65 all purpose yards? Thoughts on Arizona backfield?

Matthew Berry
  (1:46 PM)

Well, Schefty knows his stuff and I expect Powell to get majorty of carries, so I agree with that. What is up for debate is how much they run it. So far they have been very ineffectie at running the ball. They tusually pass more than run and I believe LSH is on the filed for a lot more passing downs. Like, I bet Pierre Thomas leads NO in rushes in the next game. But do you want him or Sproles? Yes, 65 total yards doable for Powell, same as it is for LSH. have LSH 1 spot higher than Powell but it's close, obviously. Both have flex value this week vs BUF

Mick Dundee (Fish out of water in LA)

G'Day, Matthew. I'm attempting to bolster a thin receiving corps by using my depth at running back as trade bait. Who do you like better for the rest of the year, Bowe or Colston? Thanks for answering(unless you don't answer, in which case, insert rude comment here)

Matthew Berry
  (1:47 PM)

Colston

Alexis (San Diego)

Any update on Mendenhall's injury last night?

Matthew Berry
  (1:49 PM)

Apparently, they were being overly cautious and he thinks he should be ok for next week

Trevor (Mpls)

Just traded LeShoure for Antonio Gates. Been hearing Jahvid is close to being back? Thoughts?

Matthew Berry
  (1:51 PM)

Not a bad buy low. Until we see Best, hard to know. I still believe in LeShoure - one good game, one bad game, let's see what happens Sun.

James (KC)

Love the insight on the 16 team league. That said is there any possibility that one of you would deliberately mislead someone else in the league during Sportscenter or interviews? (Even if it was just for a day to get a transaction through)Did you catch the premiere of the League? Great as always!I have Pitta, Doug Martin, Mendy and Arian. Is giving up Martin too much in order to buy low on Gates?

Matthew Berry
  (1:53 PM)

Hahaha. No, never mislead but almost everyone in all my leagues follow me on Twitter, so I have made a roster move and THEN tweeted something out before, yeah. I wouldn't do that deal. I still believe in Pitta and until we know officially on Mendy you don't have great RB depth

Matt (Ftw)

Whos chats get the most clicks? I go to everyones, but really look forward to yours.

Matthew Berry
  (1:55 PM)

No idea. I just know that I was told that it was very important to the people that run the chats here that I do a weekly one, so I am guessing mine do ok.

Jeff (KC)

I thought ranking of Antonio Gates as the preseason #3 TE (by you and many others) was nuts. I never bought him coming back to his previous productive form.

Matthew Berry
  (1:56 PM)

I actually think he looks solid, they just haven't found him yet, they've needed him to block, some bad luck... Still think he finishes as a top 6 TE or so

David (NC)

If Nicks is able to play would you start him?

Matthew Berry
  (1:56 PM)

Yes. Ranked him 17 after the Thurs game players were removed

Newt (Lake Mary, FL)

Your comments on your blatant drafting of Tom Brady against the wishes of Steve Brandano, please ...

Matthew Berry
  (2:00 PM)

For those who don't know, Steve is in Stern Show league and complained on radio yesterday that I "stole" brady from him. I ad pick 5, he had 6, he loves the Pats... Whatever. Nice guy but an insane take. This is fantasy not charity

Toby (Minn)

Do you see AP as being 100% back? And if so, is Gerhart still a necessary handcuff to have on the bench, or would it be safe to drop him?

Matthew Berry
  (2:02 PM)

Yes. Depends on who you would add for him. I always like having handcuffs to my studs regardless..

Harold Nealy (Ottawa)

I have Young GZ and Hanson on my roster but only need one kicker-- who would you recommend hanging onto for the rest of the season? I hate having to drop either but people don't seem interested in trading for a kicker, even in a 16-team league.

Matthew Berry
  (2:03 PM)

I'd probably hang onto Hanson. Like both but GZ has a bye coming up, you're already past Hanson's... this way you don't have to deal with it again

Matthew Berry
  (2:04 PM)

Fifty Shades of Heyward Bey in AZ ; Herbert in NJ and Mitch in Vermont - thanks for your notes. Appreciate it

Grace (Decatur)

Hate to ask such vague questions but can you throw out a couple of names that "look" good but do to certain unfavorable circumstances havent come through FF-wise. In essence i guess im just asking for some buy lows.

Matthew Berry
  (2:05 PM)

AP ; McFadden ; Murray all by low to me (while understanding inherent injury risk) .. same with Forte. Turner and Gore remain sell highs to me.

Dredd (Judgment Day)

Think your biggest mis-call was paying up for top TE's. Neither performing well enough... and lot of positional depth. Owen Daniels vs. Gronk ROS?

Matthew Berry
  (2:06 PM)

Very possibly tho we've seen Pitta / Bennett etc fall off some. I'd agree that's the club house leader but we can't fully judge till after the season...

Matthew Berry
  (2:06 PM)

ok, gotta run gang. Thanks for stopping by! Good luck this week!
