Let's get rolling.
Hey Bill, I think the Broncos could've gotten either Hightower, who would help our run D, or D. Martin, who is better version of Hillman, AND still gotten Wolfe, do you think they made a mistake?
How would they have done that?
Should the chiefs tank the season to ensure a top pick for Geno or Barkley?
I don't think they will tank on purpose, but they will tank all the same. They will be in the QB mix.
Hey Bill, Do you think the Chiefs would send D.Bowe to Miami for Matt Moore and 2nd or 3rd round pick?
That would be interesitng, espially if it was a secon and Moore. I think deaing Bwoe could make some sense.
Biggest area (besides 3rd down D) that the Broncos need to improve moving forward?
First-half play on both sides of the ball.
Are the scouts/NFL insiders/experts that you rely on for the true inside scoop, suprised at how well Peyton has been able to play this fast?
Yes, because they were worried about his arms strength. But Manning is playing at a stunning level. It's almost as if he is getting better.
Any chances the Chiefs take a look at Vince Young? he can't be worse than Brady Quinn or Matt Cassell
What's the point? If that is the case, give Stanzia chance.
with Mike Goodson putting up a few explosive plays and Run DMC being stifled by Greg Knapps zone blocking scheme what are the chances that Goodson starts stealing some snaps?
Goodson is a bakcup and a chance-of-pace guy. Maybe he will get a few more carries, but McFadden has to be the primary guy.
Is there any chance that the refs are against the raiders because there was several bad calls against them at atlanta that actually made them lose that game not the int. by palmar at the end
Do you think any other AFCW can pull it together to challenge the Broncos for the div?
Oh sure. This deal is far from over. I wouldn't concede the divison to a 3-3 team.
Are the raiders the team going to move to Los Angeles?was that the reason they were in LA on their bye?
Depends on who you talk to. I know people who are convinced it will be the Raiders. I know people who are convinced it will be the Chargers. Then there's talk about the Jags, Rams and Bills.I think everything is in play. Nothing would surprise me.
Do you see the Chargers rebounding after Monday nights embarassing collapse?
They got an easy schedule coming up before facing Denver Nov. 18. So, they have a chance to get right again.
Hey Bill! I think it's time to part ways with Ro McClain. He just doesn't seem to be panning out. Do you see any team trying to make a playoff push interested in him or anyone else for that matter on that team that is either an expiring contract (ala Seymour) or maybe even McFadden as well for. All of the trades of course would be for next offseason's draft picks. What do you think? Time to start shoving off ballast from this ship for next year?
I think McFadden is the only player you mentioned with real value. I could see the arguement of dealing him, but I the Raiders need good palers and McFadden is a good player.
Bill- This may be a question you'll address in a couple weeks, but how do you see DJ Williams fitting back into the Broncos defense after his suspension? Do you see the defense improving overall and will his presence allow Del Rio to be more creative with different packages/blitzes- etc..??
He will be back for the final seven games. He praticed very little during camp, so he will need some time to knock the rust off. I think he can help in some packages for sure because Denver is fairly weak at two of the three linebacker spots. But I don;t think the team trusts WIlliams much, so they aren't counting on much.
We traded back from the spot the patriots took hightower, and than traded from the spot where TB took Martin, I felt like Wolfe was underrated and we could've gotten him with out original number two pick
I don't think Wolfe would have been there at No. 57. He was wideky considered a top-40 pick.
Is the young Denver secondary underrated, or is SD's passing game just not that great?
Harris and Carter are interesting players. They are playermakers. As for the Chargers, Rivers forced some bad passes and in that game and it is obvious he needs a a healthy Vicnncet Brown back.
what are the chances aaron curry plays this sunday?
I think he may need a couple of weeks.
The Broncos, Chargers, and Raiders only have one team on their remaining schedules with a current record over .500 (Baltimore), and KC has none. Ever seen such a weak schedule for an entire division? The Chargers have the "toughest" remaining opponents with a combined win % of only .393!
That's what happesn when only two teams in the conference have a wining record and the NFC South thanks in a year the AFC West plays it.That's why everyone thinks the Broncos are in good shape. They had a brutal start and they are tied for first place. We'll see how it plays out.
Is Derrick Wolfe the best rookie in the AFC west?
He's up there, yes, along with Ingram, Reyes, Burris and Poe.
What could the Chiefs realilistically get if they traded D Bowe this week? Should they?
Id' say a second with perhapsa conditional pick.
Hey Bill, I feel like the Broncos run game hasn't done anything this year, do you think that reflects the o-line or our RB's?
It's bene OK. McGahee has had his moments. But the turth is, it's a throwing offense now.
Any chance we see the Norv Turner everyone spoke about at the beginning of the season that "loves to run the ball?" I'm tired of seeing Rivers drop back 40 times in a game we are leading by double digits.
It's all about getting Mathews more invovled. I agree. That has to be a focus after the bye.
What are the chances if Chargers fail to make playoffs, will they get Gruden ?
Gruden's name will always pop up for jobs and I'd epxect it too if the Chargers' job opens. He is a big Rivers fan, I'd bet he'd love San Diego and the Chargers could be intersted in a high-profile coach. There's reasons to think why itm akes sense.
Hey Bill, I was looking at the Raiders schedule. Pretty easy the rest of the way, and if they win this week they will be one game out. Do you think they can stay in the race for the west.
If the leaders fall apart while the Raiders win.
Bill - based on how the Raiders played last week, do you think they have a chance at the division this year is they can get in sync?
Remember, they lost and they are 1-4. We need to see them put together a lot of wins before we talk about the division. That goes for any 1-win team.
Should anyone draft a USC QB? cause the last 8 or 10 havent pan out
Williamson - looks like its time for your mid-season report card. Your positive take on Dennis Allen? Fail. Your prediction of the Chiefs as the AFC West champions? Fail. Your baffling MANCRUSH on Ryan Matthews? Fail. I will give you a low passing grade however in your assessment of Peyton Manning's recovery from injury - he has been very good. Keep up the "good" work, Bill. Have a good life.
Back at you.
The Broncos first 6 weeks seemed like a mess at times. Consistency is lacking and we can't seem to hold on to the ball. What do you see happening the second half of the season for Denver and what record do you see them finishing with?
I think we will see some consistency build. Defensive imrpovement is key. if I had to guess, I'd say they will finish 9-7.
I agree'd with you in thinking this could be the Chiefs breakout year, does it really all fall on Cassel?
Their 1-5 start is on everybody. It's a complete breakdown, coahcing on down.
who are the 4 best teams in the AFC in your opinion?
As of right now, I'd Say Houston, Baltimore, New England and Denver.
if the Raiders are picking top 5, any chance they take a look at Geno or Barkley?
I think Oakland has to get the most dynamic defensive player available.
Any chance we see Pioli out of kc before the end of the season? or hopefully earlier?
The only way Pioli isn't back, in my opinion, is if ownerhsip caves to fan complaints and that could happen. if this thing finishes 2-14, 3-13, the Hunts could be pressured to bloow it up, but I don't think they want to.
What are your thoughts on Irving and Trevathan? They look like they both have potential.
Irving made some plays the other night. That is big, but the Broncos have been waiting on him. I really think Trevethan is a classic tackle machine. He may not look pretty or be special, but he's the type who will quielty make plays for 10 years.
After that tough loss is SD done for the year
It helps that they come out of the bye with a winnable game at Cleveland. A win would put them ian good mindset.
If you added even just an average qb who doesn't turn the ball over too much to the Chiefs, do you think that they would contend for the division? On paper it seems like that they quite a lot of talent if you exlude the qb position
Kind of, yes. The turnovers mad eby the QBs there is killing that team.
Do you think KC has no choice but to draft a QB in the 1st round this year?
I think that is the situatiom. It is by far their most glaring need.
What are the chances Decker out produces Thomas?
It's kind od a week-to-week thing, but there is no doubt, Thomas is starting to look really special. His YAC and yardage average are pretty strong.
Do you think McClain is on his way out of Oakland. Reggie and Allen have already show they don't have deep ties to anyone who was drafted by Al and McClain has still not developed into a solid starter.
I don't think he is becoming one of their favorite holdovers, let's put it that way. Does that mean he will be gone next year/ I'm not sure the Raiders are ready to amke that move, but he has to get it together to be in their long-term plans.
Im not a Raider fan but I think Oak still has a shot at the wild card do you agree?
Most teams in the AFC are.
What about bowe comming to denver?
Have a hard time seeing that happening.
Who is winning the position battle, Q. Carter or R. Moore? And do you think either of these guys could be a long term solution?
Carter is out for the year with a knee injury. Moore is making strides.
I have been reading some articles and watching some segments of Carson Palmer. Some say he is a bust for Oakland and others are saying he is having a career year. What are your thoughts?
We're taking a big look at that on the blog tomorrow.
It would be nice to see Carter and Harris get more playing time. Do you think they'll integrate more of a Dime coverage throughout the remainder of the year?
Those guys will play until they show they can't.
What has surprised you most this year about the AFC West?
Manning's dominance and the Chiefs' disaster. I did pick them to win the division. Ouch-y.
Do you think Peyton Manning has a shot at the MVP.
If he continues to play at this pace, yes.
Bill, at what point in the season do you think the Chiefs would give Ricky Stanzi a shot at starting quarterback? Sounds like the fans would support him if the team is going nowhere this season...
It wouldn't hurt in the final month of the season if things don't turn around.
Is Dumervil coming into his zone? Looks like he has his swagger back!
The Denver coaches have raved about him, but the sacks weren't coming. Now the sacks are coming.
Time for a bold prediction: who will be the head coach in San Diego for the 2013 season?
Tell you in a few eeks.
Great hour, folks. Enjoy Week 7.
