Good morning and happy Tuesday! It's early in the week so a lot can change, but there are some injury nuggets out there already...
Good morning Stephania! The thing everyone wants to know! Any update on MJD's foot? P.S. All the guys said you were taking the 49ers in the pick'em last week. sounds like there being a little weazely to me!
Tom: Well, first of all, them acting like weasels is nothing new. But we failed to mention when recording the podcast today that my lead (for now) has increased. Karma.Anyway, the details on MJD's foot not out yet. Hearing it's the middle of the foot, maybe an arch sprain according to coach, but this is all still vague terminology. Btw, that's not unusual. It can be hard to pinpoint the precise source of the injury initially. The big question is whether there is any instability and they'll be looking no doubt at various tests over the next couple of days to make a better prognosis. It's one of those plan for the worst, hope for the best. Multi-week injury until proven otherwise.
Hi Stephania. Defensive player league question - How long do you think Charles Woodson will be out?
Alex: They're calling it 6 weeks (clavicle fracture). He's had this injury before so he knwos what he's dealing with. Assuming he heals well, the time projection is about right.
Good Morning!! Greg Jennings, any update for this week?
Ryan: Per Milwaukee J-S, plan is to test him running Thursday and if that goes well, he could practice Friday. Does not mean he's necessarily back Sunday, but these are signs of progress. Progress, that is, if they go well. Wouldn't be surprised even if he gets into practice Friday that they hold him back another week. One light day of practice is not a big test before the game, although they also noted they're being conscious to not fatigue him during the week with too MUCH practice. Hard read right now until we hear how he tolerated running.
Good Morning.. Jimmy Graham, What do you feel are the chances he is back this week?
Duane: Apparently coach Joe Vitt thinks they're pretty good. He did do some work last week which was a good sign and the Saints say they will test him Wednesday. So that day could tell us a lot. I think if he makes it through Weds without incident and practices even limited both days after, then chances are pretty high.
Congrats to your SF Giants. Any update on Demarco Murray?
Jay: Why, thank you. Can't wait to see them in Game One. In person. As for Murray, ESPN Dallas reporting yesterday Cowboys hope to have him this week. Seems very soon considering he was on crutches last week. But sometimes these things move quicker than expected (they don't always go slower). The plan was for Murray to undergo some tests Monday (not clear what those were) but the real test will be if he gets on the field and starts pushing off that foot, seeing how he tolerates that.
Any Mendenhall updates? Will he play this week?
Steve: WIth them playing late Sunday, no status update on him yet. But heading into that game the thought was that he was ahead of Redman. Knew they wouldn't take any chances with him coming off ACL surgery and they'll need to be convinced this week, but I think chances are decent that he returns.
I am playing AP on a short week and Gore this week, any chance either of them misses this weekend?
Matt: Don't think so. AP knew short week heading into Sunday which is why they limited his practice. Expect him. And expect Gore who put in a full practice Monday and they don't play until next Monday. He says he expects to play.
Any new news on Vincent Brown? Does he still have a chance to play in week 9?
Nick: Don't think so. Not practicing. Not even running yet. No timetable on return per Norv Turner. Think that despite the bone healing, it's a slower process to getting out running than most expected.
How long does it take for an injury like Trent Richardson's to fully heal? Should owners consider an alternative until Cleveland's bye week is over?
Matt: It can take multiple weeks...but that doesn't mean guys can't play and be effective. Early on, that's hard to do because it's so painful - and I think that's what everyone found out in the game. He wants to keep playing. They want to make sure he can be effective. It's one of those situations where they may not decide until right up to game day. If you don't have Hardesty, you should (if you can) since he will be the beneficiary if Richardson sits. And it might be worth starting someone in his place if RIchardson is looking limited in practice all week.
If D Murray can't go can Felix?
JayVike: Hard to know. Bruised knee and a neck strain. If it's a bone bruise (which I believe he's had before), then he may need to rest it. May be a measure of seeing how he responds over the week. Hard to count on him.
Good morning Stephania! Can you please tell me what is the latest on the Donald Brown injury? How soon will he be able to play?
Chris: Sounds like they think he's not far off but it also sounds like it will be another week. That would put him 3 weeks post-scope. Seems more reasonable to me.
What's the deal with Garcon?
Jason: I know this "torn tendon" news sounds dramatic but it doesn't really change the way the injury is being managed. In other words, the decision was to rest him until and let the pain and inflammation subside until he could play effectively. Now the more interesting question is whether we think that can happen or not. The information is still vague (there are a number of tendons in the foot, where's the tear, is it partial, etc, etc). I think we're at the same place. Multiple weeks of rest - and while I don't think there's a prescriptive timetable, I think it's reasonable to suggest he's out through the bye.
Do you have any update on Nicks? Is he still ailing or do you think he is up to almost full speed yet?
Dave: DOn't think he's 100% but he's getting better. And every week he goes out and gets through it ok and is able to come back and practice, the more encouraged we should be. Want to see what he does this week but no reason to think he sits.
Assuming Jay Cutler really only does have bruised ribs, what are his chances of playing through the injury without missing any time?
Eric: Based on him coming back last night, I'd say pretty darn good.
Torn labrum for Gabbert, how long is he out?
Drew: Not clear yet whether he's out this weke or not. It's his non-throwing shoulder so the main thing is does he risk further injury by playing, etc. Dr. Andrews supposed to weigh in today so we should knwo soon.
Has anything come out on how Peyton Hillis is progressing?
Jeff: Not a word. Prob not until first practice Weds.
Good morning, Stephania. Any update on Amendola? Last update I heard was maybe only 4 weeks out which would put him back in 2 weeks? Is this the latest? Thanks.
Dan: Nothing yet - but thst is often the case when guys are just doing rehab and still a decent ways away from practice. Hopefullywe hear something this week.
Love you on the Podcast. Any news on Dez Bryant?
Ha! The gingham got me...that was the biggest laughing fit I've had in a while. Nothing on Bryant. He left the game briefly, was tested, then returned. No major injury report to follow game. Probably not any bigger update until Weds...but there's nothing that seems to be threatening his status for this week.
Have to dash. Catching a flight. Thanks for coming early today. I'll see you here again Friday!!!
