Matthew Berry
  (2:03 PM)

Hi gang: Thanks for stopping by. Let's get to it. As always, all subjects answered.

Whatchu talkin (bout, Willis?)

Hey TMR, got any buy lows/sell highs in PPR? Particularly for playoff time (weeks 14/15/16)?I'd appreciate getting some bragging rights and some dough this winter

Matthew Berry
  (2:04 PM)

McCoy and McFadden are buy lows to me and I'd be trying to scoop up Amendola if he was somehow still available...

Avi (Boston)

Who should I start at flex this week Hakeem Nicks or Doug Martin?

Matthew Berry
  (2:04 PM)

Prefer Martin though I don't love either. Bad matchups for both guys, so I go Martin who is healthier and has more guaranteed touches

Alex (Dallas)

Predictions on the outcome in the Panthers backfield, ROS?

Matthew Berry
  (2:05 PM)

Stewart will be the guy. Low end #2 RB the rest of the way. Talent is there, health and opportunity have been the issues.

James (NC)

Who to start this week: Alex Green or Mikel Leshoure?

Matthew Berry
  (2:07 PM)

My weekly reminder that I don't answer single position start questions like this since they can be answered by looking at my ranks: http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/football/ffl/story?page=12ranksWeek8RB

Nick (Madison, WI)

Every week, I post on here. And every week, my question goes unanswered. But, here's hoping . . . My dilema is that I have TE's Gonzalez and Heath Miller. Obviously can only start 1. And having one on my bench doesn't do me much good, so I should probably use the bench guy as trade bait for a RB. Which should I keep, which should I trade, and give me an example of the RB I should expect in return.

Matthew Berry
  (2:08 PM)

I would trade whichever gets you the most value, which will probably be Gonzo. I would want a solid #2 RB for him.

Matt (Bellaire OH)

Would you wait to see if Jimmy Graham can go or go ahead and play Rudolph tonight? Other option if I wait is Martellus Bennett

Matthew Berry
  (2:09 PM)

Since you have Bennett too, I would wait

Brandon (work)

Any word on Graham? Use Rudolph tonight or wait and take the chance of another week off?

Matthew Berry
  (2:12 PM)

Depends on your league set-up and if you could make a move on Sun if you find out he's out and who else is available on your wire... In general though, it's looking like Graham is a game time decision...I'd probably play it safe and go with Rudolph tonight

Jerad (Milwaukee)

Hey TMR, Cobb or Graham in a W/R/T flex?

Matthew Berry
  (2:12 PM)

cobb

Yoshi (NY)

Hey Mathhew, Do you think LeSean Mccoy will end up the season as a top 5 running back?

Matthew Berry
  (2:13 PM)

I do, yes. Touchdowns will even out. He's getting the work... top 10 in most categories...

William (NYC)

You know TMR, you never get back to me and I ask you some stuff at every chat and via e-mail all the time..if it wasn't for your section against loosers who go nuts on guys over fantasy play/advice in that Love/Hate column a week or so ago, I would loose my mind right about now!Anyway, time to drop Flacco? Stuck with Stafford as my QB, so do I ditch Joeyboy and rotate between Stafford and FA QBs with good match-ups weekly? Or is the easier schedule for the Ravens after the bye something that makes him worth holding on to? Thanks a lot!

Matthew Berry
  (2:15 PM)

Hard to get to everyone with the volume that comes in - Facebook, Twitter still best way to get a hold of me. Can't answer without knowing who you'd drop Flacco for. But in general, I'd probably hang on and see what happens out of the bye.

scrunt (lincoln, ne)

Matthew- long time follower, first time posterI am in a 14 team .5 ppr league with two flex positions available.I have a good track record for fantasy teams and this year i have been stagnate at .500...need some help getting over the hump and get back on track. Which two would give me the most upside as flex plays: Givens, Gibson, Tanner, or Michael Bush? Thanks for all your contributions!

Matthew Berry
  (2:16 PM)

Would go with the Rams.

Alex (Anaheim)

Worth playing Andre Brown as a flex this week?

Matthew Berry
  (2:17 PM)

Very possibly. Sean Lee's injury really hurts DAL run D and Bradshaw missed practice again today

Meadz (Bethel, CT)

I have a tough call because one option plays tonight. Should I start Doug Martin tonight or hope that Trent Richardson is healthy enough to play on Sunday?

Matthew Berry
  (2:18 PM)

Martin

Ben (Portland, ME)

Hey Matt. Long time reader. This is a two-part question, so please bear with me. First question, you'll need a little background info about my league to answer. It's an 8 team auction keeper league. 19 man roster, $200 salary cap. A keeper goes up of his drafted price the first year he is kept, the next year, etc. You can only keep a player for 3 consecutive seasons. When you trade a player, the consecutive years number resets, but the overall number of years kept does not. So you could have a player who is a 6th year keeper and his price would go up '. Sorry about that. My question is: I just got offered AP ($22 to keep, 1st yr keeper next year) and Julio Jones ($13 to keep, 2nd yr keeper next year) for Nicks ($6 to keep, 4th yr keeper next year) and McFadden ($8 to keep, 3rd yr keeper next yr). I currently have DMac and Nicks. I absolutely have to do that trade, right?Second question: Would it be crazy to start Pierre Thomas or Brandon Stokley over Vernon Davis? This is in the same league. (2 QB, 3 WR, 2 RB, TE, W/T, W/R, K, 2 D)

Matthew Berry
  (2:19 PM)

Do the deal. Start Davis

Erik (Minneapolis)

Why are you (and the rest) so down on D. Moore-Oak with the way he's been playing? Is it because of Palmer? I have him above Nicks and Dez this week.

Matthew Berry
  (2:21 PM)

Down on him? I have him at 26.... KC D very good, especially at home, 13th vs pass...He's a very solid WR3 or flex

Nixon (San Jose)

Is Garcon out for the rest of the year? If so, pick up Hankerson?

Matthew Berry
  (2:22 PM)

No, I think he'll be back after WSH's bye in week 10.... Hankerson is fine - depends who else is avail

Austin (FL)

I have your boy RG3 and Big Ben to choose from this weekend. The ESPN points projections rank Ben higher and all the experts have RG3. I need a solid performance from my QB. Who's going to be less of a risk to play, given RG3's upside is likely greater.

Matthew Berry
  (2:23 PM)

Ben is probably less risky given the Redskins D and RG3's potential to get hurt. Someone else does the projections which are independent of how I or the other guys rank

James (snowy Idaho)

Hey Matthew,Just read your love/hate article. Loved it. I see you love Vick Ballard this week and Josh Gordon gets name dropped in your WR list as well. I'm trying to decide who to start between the two in the FLEX position. Thoughts?

Matthew Berry
  (2:24 PM)

Thanks for the kind words. Wait to see if Donald Brown is active. If he is, go Josh. If he's out, I'd go Ballard

Sgt. Al Powell (LAPD)

Carl Winslow who? Thanks for keeping it real, TMR. I do have a concern with some of your more recent insight. You love certain teams coming off the bye (Broncos) but seem to be down on others (Vick > ATL Def, Turner). I don't like the London game but my other defensive option is ATL, who you also have in that fancy 'war room league', right? Should I rely on Vick to turn the ball over or trust NE, whom you love in your love/hate this week?

Matthew Berry
  (2:27 PM)

Thanks for listenting to the podcast - love the reference, so I took the question. PHI is ALSO off the bye, so that negates ATL, plus PHI at home. I DO have the ATL D in "War Room League"... impressive. I'd go Patriots D - STL o line banged up, they give up a lot of sacks...

Tim (Seattle)

Hi Matthew, big fan! I know you probably get a lot of Cobb questions, but where would you rank him in a dynasty league? Top 15 WR?

Matthew Berry
  (2:29 PM)

Top 20. This is almost definitely Jennings last year in GB... Cobb is terrific and you know I love him...If I was doing a dynasty WR ranking for next year, I'd have him just inside my top 20

JKozOfficial (Dunkirk, NY)

How do you manage to not rip off the heads of every person that asks for your opinion between two players after you've already posted your rankings?

Matthew Berry
  (2:30 PM)

Some days it's easier than others... That, and people that say "You loved this free agent scrub in the 30's but you hate this normal top ten guy ranked 18, who should I play?"

Dakota (Woah Crazy Crazy Town)

Someone in my league dropped J-Stew. Am I correct in dropping any 25+ ranked RB to grab him? Oh, and Nate IS a weasel.

Matthew Berry
  (2:30 PM)

Yes and yes.

David (SF)

I see you ranked Stewart higher than Tanner (a grim week for me), but which has a better chance to miraculous blow up? A difference between 3 and 5 points likely won't save my week, but a shot in the dark might

Matthew Berry
  (2:31 PM)

Stewart has the best chance IF Felix is active (which I expect)

Mike (Michigan)

Matthew, I've been waiting patiently for Antonio Brown to get another Touchdown. He's being targeted like crazy and seems to have good rapport with Big Ben. Is this his week for a big game against your Redskins?

Matthew Berry
  (2:32 PM)

He's never going to be a huge TD guy - and Miller is getting a lot of RZ looks - but this is a great matchup for him

Andrew Felix (Kansas City, Missouri)

Matthew Berry! What is the tight end situation in Washington looking like for this sunday!?

Matthew Berry
  (2:32 PM)

One to avoid. If I had to pick one, it'd be Logan Paulsen, not Cooley.

Craig (NY)

Hi Matthew, real quick, Cobb or Martin? Thanks!!

Matthew Berry
  (2:33 PM)

Cobb

From one Matt (To another)

ROS: Rivers or Palmer?

Matthew Berry
  (2:33 PM)

Rivers but the fact that you even have to ask that question tells you everything you need to know about Rivers

James (Austin, TX)

Just picked up Andre Brown. Bradshaw didn't practice today. If no Bradshaw who is better flex this week, Brown or Dwyer (same thing if mendenhal and redman out)

Matthew Berry
  (2:33 PM)

Brown if Bradshaw is out. Smart move

RGIII (Washington)

Does your wife know about our (not so secret) love affair?

Matthew Berry
  (2:34 PM)

She took the picture. Oh, she knows...

Eric (Henderson, NV)

Are you going to move Tanner up in your rankings tomorrow? He's probably my flex play this week.

Matthew Berry
  (2:35 PM)

Maybe. They expect Felix to play so we'll see. We just updated our ranks before I popped in here. I have him at 33 right now and Felix at 24

Nick (Orlando)

Can you explain your ranking of Cam, his scoring being sporadic, and Palmer, consistent scoring, as their match ups are polar opposites?

Matthew Berry
  (2:38 PM)

CAM: Think the GM firing was a bit of a wake-up call and I believe CHI will drop 7 back in coverage to take Smith out of game and dare CAR to run the way they did with Stafford/DET. Obviously Cam's rushing has a lot to do with my expectation...Meanwhile, I expect OAK to come out of the bye wanting to get DMC going so I expect a heavy does of the run game. KC is 22nd vs run but 13th vs pass. Last 2 home games for KC - Flacco 6 pts, Rivers 14...

Mike (San Diego)

Matty the weasel crusher. Thanks for loving Percy Harvin. I have him in my main money league this year and he's been awesome. Top 5 WR the rest of the way?

Matthew Berry
  (2:39 PM)

Welcome. Call I might me most proud of this year - was on him very early and loudly. No doubt top 5. Even higher in PPR

Ryan (Reno)

Whoa Crazy Crazy!! I know that if i simply ask one player or another, you're just going to forward me on to your rankings; so I'll put it another way. I got a tough matchup this week against the Top team in my league; 10 team non-ppr. Given the matchup i know that my team is going to have to BOOM to pull off an upset. Given that scenario which one of these players would you insert at the Flex position; or better yet, which one has the better chance of a BOOM? SJax, DJax, Lloyd, Nicks, or Leshoure? Currently starting Martin/Forte and Colston/Cobb to go along w/ Brady and M. Bennett.

Matthew Berry
  (2:41 PM)

D JAX or Nicks have the most potential to go off.

Lorne (los angeles)

At 7-0...Worth trading Denarius and next year's 1st rounder (i'll be keeping Ray Rice) for AJ Green? I currently have Wes and Julio and it seems like it'd be nice to roll all three out each week.

Matthew Berry
  (2:44 PM)

Yeah, I'd probably do that IF I can keep Green. If not... depends on what kind of player you are. If you only care about winning this year, do it. Green better than Moore, obviously. If you are play for both years kind of guy... you're 7-0, why rock it? It's certainly a fair deal..

Drew (Milwaukee)

Assuming Mendenhall doesn't play Dwyer or Bryant better flex.

Matthew Berry
  (2:44 PM)

Dez

David (SF, Ca)

Why is Kerley ranked so low? 11 targets 120 yds last week. #1 rec. for Jets.

Matthew Berry
  (2:45 PM)

I like him - listed him as a love - have him ranked 30... he still has Sanchez as his QB and MIA has had 2 weeks to prep. Dolphins better at run defense than pass but still pretty good

Greg Jennings (Groin bay)

Would you trade me for amendola right now?

Matthew Berry
  (2:46 PM)

Yep

Billy (NYC)

Any strategy for a first time Fantasy Hoops player? Head to Head points league.

Matthew Berry
  (2:48 PM)

In a points league, you don't have to worry about things like FG or FT% as much, generally. Like, Dwight Howard is a much better player in a points league than anywhere else. In general, with fantasy hoops, I always go "Power Forward / Point Guard" - that is to say players who get those type of stats... Boards, Blocks, good FG% for the PF types... assis, steals, three's for the PG types... except boards, those are the most rare categories...

Rob (Philly)

More worried about: Kobe's foot or RGIII's head?

Matthew Berry
  (2:49 PM)

Kobe's foot. He's older... But both will be fine

Usher (Chicago)

Who gets more touches in the AZ backfield?

Matthew Berry
  (2:49 PM)

Think LSH gets a few more carries but not like last week. Don't love either guy against SF obviously

mendel (korf)

Two preseason loves, who would you rather have ROS: BJGE or antonio brown in a ppr?

Matthew Berry
  (2:50 PM)

Brown. Not close.

James (Ohio)

Just reported that G. Jennings will undergo surgery for an abdominal tear. Would you buy low on James Jones?

Matthew Berry
  (2:51 PM)

Yeah, just seeing that... Not season ending, apparently, but obviously not great news. Not sure you CAN buy low on James Jones, but yes, obviously a top 25 guy going forward.

Chaz (washington DC)

Berry, who are some potential end of year fliers at running back? Are guys like Hillis and Daniel Thomas worth grabbing in the hopes they start getting work, particularly around the goal line?

Matthew Berry
  (2:56 PM)

Well, anything is possible...and you can't predcit injures, but Kendall Hunter and Ben Tate, if you could get them cheap...Expect SF to rest Gore as they gear up for Playoffs (like last yr) and can't you see HOU, with everything wrapped up with 3 weeks to go, sitting Foster some? Richardson is interesting to me - no way S Jax is back in STL, they may give him more run and Jaquizz as well - my feelings on Turner are well known

Steven (Kentucky)

In your latest podcast it was mentioned that you had Eli Manning outside of your top 10. Does that mean that Cruz is a bad option this week, and Bradshaw is a very good one?

Matthew Berry
  (2:59 PM)

No... I have Cruz #1 this week. If A QB throws for 200 yards and 2 TD with 2 picks, that's a bad day, but a WR could easily get 90 and a score from that day and it be good. As for Bradshaw - yes, if he plays, he'll do very well. If not, Brown would be a good start. But I expect NY toi run the ball very well, which is why I have Eli at 11 this week.

Lance (Las Vegas)

You always say not to be a rankings slave, and make our own decisions (which I do). I'm just curious if you are a slave to your rankings? If you have 2 guys on your team and you rank 1 above the other, does that mean you will always start the higher ranked one? Or do you also disregard your rankings sometimes?

Matthew Berry
  (3:02 PM)

Generally I go with my own ranks but every once in a while I will veer off... if I am way up or way down after Thursday, for example... but 9 times out of 10, I go by my own rankings, which is how I do them... Hmm, if I had this guy or this guy, which one am I starting. Then I rank the guy I'd choose. The place where I veer off the most is pre-season, where depending on how my roster is shaping up or how the draft is going I'll move around a bit.

Shelby Shone (Lafayette)

BERRY SAVE ME HERE!

Matthew Berry
  (3:02 PM)

Done

Showtime (Not Eric Young) (Chicago)

Even without the threat of violence, I'm hoping to get this one answered: How do you value Rashad Jennings this week? Worth a flex play over Nicks in a non-ppr? Also starting Percy and Fitzgerald....Britt and Lloyd on the bench.

Matthew Berry
  (3:03 PM)

Close but I'd go Jennings over Nicks in non PPR. Agan, not sure he's 100% yet and Jennings will get a lot of work.

Drew (Work Meeting)

Are you okay with a Luck/Stafford combo going forward or do you think an upgrade is needed?

Matthew Berry
  (3:04 PM)

That's liveable if you're crushing at other positions.

mendel (trade help)

Would you trade BJGE and K hunter for Antonio and Pierre?

Matthew Berry
  (3:05 PM)

As much as I love Brown, I'm a huge Hunter guy, so I'd probably stay put

Matthew Berry
  (3:05 PM)

Ok, gang. Gotta run. Thamks for stopping by!
