Good afternoon everyone...let's keep the folks affected by Hurricane Sandy in our thoughts and prayers....and let's get this partaaayyy started!
afternoon, Guru! in a way to say thanks for your services to all the nascar fantasy players, i would like to donate to a chartity of your choice. Not talking Trump money, but around $2,000. Please post your charity for me or any other player that may want to join in.thanks for your work
Wow...YOU HAVE BLOWN ME AWAY!!!!!! This has completely caught me off guard...I'll tell where my heart is...and there is so much need everywhere...but something I'm personally, hands on, involved with and have been for almost ten years...My daughters go to a little Christian School and through our church we work to have daycare services, programs for alcholol and drug addiction, and other programs for children all the way up to seniors..I'm president of the booster Club and we are always searching for the money to do these mission works and provide computers for the school and a variety of other needs..So my choice and it is a 5013-C charity so it is tax deductible.. Union Grove Christian School, Attn: Mr. Peter Steinhaus, 2295 Union Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27295..
It took me awhile to answer that one and whoever you are in Reno, NV that is something totally awesome and you'll never know how much of a blessing that money will be to a number of people and children..Thank-you so much!...for one of the first times in my life "Guru" is speechless!
Why did it take even a couple seconds after Denny Hamlin came to a complete stop for the caution to fly? Does a caution require debris or smoke? Denny could've easily gotten run over a couple times even before his master switch completely quit.
Zach, I think NASCAR was just trying to make sure Denny wasn't "sandbagging" them and had a legit problem..They made sure he got lapped a couple of times before sending help just to make sure he wasn't going to take off as soon as the yellow came out. Was it a little dangerous? Maybe..but it's Martinsville..speeds slow and he was out of the way and spotters easily guided their guys around him.
How about your top four qualifiers
I'm thinking Jimmie Johnson Tom along with Greg Biffle...Kasey Kahne...and Mark Martin.
Hell-o Mark, The Halloween candy is holding out pretty good. I had to hide some of the peanut butter cups so the wife would leave some for the trick or treaters tonight. Our thoughts go to everyone affected by "Sandy". I made a BIG push in my "Fantasy Cup" league! Have a great shot @ more "Mulah". I have to trade in Vickers. I don't like the bottom feeders so I may trade in the 11 as well. If I take Martin I can also pick from this group : 39, 9, 31, 20, 27, 42 or the 1. Which one? Thanks as always, Bill
Bill, I know what you can do to make the candy safe just tell your wife you noticed her "caboose" was getting a little bigger...common Bill...Dare to be great..lol....I don't see anyone in that bottom group I'm super in love with because of their lack of consistency...I think what you need to do is keep Denny and trade Vickers for Kurt Busch...He should be top-15 material in the final three races and that doesn't cause you to lose a big gun like Hamlin...just one man's opinion...And don't forget to let me know how the honesty program works out with your wife :)
Who do you think will win the O'Reilly Challenge & the Texas AAA 500 at Texas?
Paul Menard (how's that for daring to be great) and Jimmie Johnson.
Which is the scarier lineup: 48 11 15 2 55 or 48 24 5 2 22?
Mack, I'm a little more "spooked" by the first team because I think 11 and 55 will score more points than 24 and 22.
Is it time to part ways with Sam Hornish and instead use Kurt Busch as my floor pick?
I traded Hornish for Regan Smith the first week he drove for Junior and regretted that for just one week..with Smith and Vickers my top floor picks the last two weeks outrunning the fast improving former Indy Car champion. Read my weekly preview and I lay out, though, why Kurt Busch is my "bargain basement boy" for the final three races..Hornish will be nice and steady top-20..Busch could sneak in there for some top-15s in my opinion.
If the leader in my SCC league is ahead by 121 points with three races left can I still catch him?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but absolutely, positively, not in a million years....no way...Sorry..but keep playing go down with both guns blazing and when you're out of bullets...throw the guns at him...lol
Is it a bad idea to keep Brad Keselowski on my team considering how bad he is at Texas?
That's going to be a tough call this week..because Brad is finding a way right now to make it happen much like Tony Stewart did last year..still I like Biffle, Kenseth, Bowyer and Kahne better and they are all cheaper. Keselowski's best finish at Texas is 14th..I think he finds a way to run top-10, but unless it turns into something weird like a fuel mileage battle I don't see him anywhere near the top-5.
Oh enlightened one - thank you for your time. What chances do you give the #15 this weekend? They don't have the best stats at Texas but that team is firing on all cylinders right now. Thoughts?
I feel about Bowyer like I do Keselowski..past stats don't mean much right now because they have a lot of momentum..I expect Bowyer to out run BradK and to show you I dare to be great I ranked Bowyer fifth.
Speaking of the rankings...here's my pre-race top-30....1.Jimmie Johnson2.Matt Kenseth3.Greg Biffle4.Kasey Kahne5.Clint Bowyer6.Kyle Busch7.Jeff Gordon8.Mark Martin9.Brad Keselowski10.Denny Hamlin11.Martin Truex, Jr.12.Tony Stewart13.Carl Edwards14.Dale Earnhardt, Jr.15.Kevin Harvick16.Joey Logano17.Paul Menard18.Kurt Busch19.Aric Almirola20.Ryan Newman21.Sam Hornish, Jr.22.Marcos Ambrose23.Jamie McMurray24.Trevor Bayne25.Juan Pablo Montoya26.Jeff Burton27.A.J. Allmendinger28.Bobby Labonte29.Casey Mears30.Landon Cassill
Mark, absolutely enjoying the fall weather down here in Central FL. For this week at Texas my prelim is: 2-16-5-22. However, only one I'm sold is using my last start on the 16. Should I go 17 over 2 for A list, 5 or 56 on B list, and 43 over 22 on C list? Thanks for all the help Mark! Happy Halloween!
Yes, I would go 17 over 2 Nick...5 and 16...then the 43 over 22..Almirola is slowly making me a believer.
Guru, I had to drop B.Vickers from last week & am thinking of # 48, 78, 18, 15
You're missing a number, but I like where you're heading Mikey.
Your top 5 for Texas?
In case anyone missed it a few minutes ago...here's my pre-race top-30 again Mike....1.Jimmie Johnson2.Matt Kenseth3.Greg Biffle4.Kasey Kahne5.Clint Bowyer6.Kyle Busch7.Jeff Gordon8.Mark Martin9.Brad Keselowski10.Denny Hamlin11.Martin Truex, Jr.12.Tony Stewart13.Carl Edwards14.Dale Earnhardt, Jr.15.Kevin Harvick16.Joey Logano17.Paul Menard18.Kurt Busch19.Aric Almirola20.Ryan Newman21.Sam Hornish, Jr.22.Marcos Ambrose23.Jamie McMurray24.Trevor Bayne25.Juan Pablo Montoya26.Jeff Burton27.A.J. Do you have any information to share about Travis Pastrana and his 2013 plans?
Michael, Pastrana says he's close to putting together a deal to run all the Nationwide Series races next season, but didn't say which team. He also just underwent surgery on his left shoulder to fix a tear in the rotator cuff and the labrum. He promises to be ready for Daytona.
After looking at the stats who should I go with? Group 1 Bowyer, Brad, or Kyle. Group 2 Kenseth, Jr, or Kahne, Group 3 Tony, Biffle, Carl, Group 4 Ambrose, David Regan, AJ, or Aric.
I have Bowyer ranked just one spot ahead of Kyle Busch Tammy...Kenseth in a close call over Kahne...then Biffle....Aric Almirola
Don't want to be a nag but could you put the auto updates on?
That's up to the boys at ESPN I have been told and I'm hoping they see your gentle complaint.
Edwards has shown a litlle bit of return to form the last 3 races and has been decent at Texas so what are the chances he get's a top 5 finish?
Zippy..I would love to see it, but I don't think Carl is all the way back to that kind of form..to run top-5 you have pretty much have a chance to win and I don't see that. I can see a top-10, though, and agree this team is starting to pick up some steam.
Guru, thaks so much for all the great information you provide each week. I was thinking of taking the 99 over the 18,39,20,9,27. My thinking is that Roush does so well at Texas even though I had the 18 last week but not sure I trust him at Texas. What do you think?? Also thnking of taking the 43 over the 1,42,31. Thoughts??
I disagree on the 18 and 99 deal..I think 18 will be just fine and fast...a little more so than Carl..and I agree Big "T" on taking the 43...he's certainly has built up a little momentum.
Prior to Danica Patrick, Who was the Last Woman that was in a Sprint Cup Series Race at the Texas Motor Speedway?
Chris, I've done all those races and I don't remember one.
If you could only use Johnson in only one of the remaining three races which one would it be?
Texas this week Zippy..that's what I'd do.
To fullofpace (reno, nv), thank you for your great donation, and for reminding me why nascar fans are the greatest.
Amen to that...We have something the booster club bought for $3100 and we have just begun to figure out how to pay for it and that donation couldn't come at at better time! I'm like you Tammy NASCAR fans are the best and one of the reasons I've been at the Cup level for 30 years.
Mark awesome way to start the chat. Can someone send me a jacket here at the FSC Library, it is freezing in here! Also, you like Blickensderfer w/Ambrose and Lambert w/Burton?
Yes it was Nick! And stop being a baby...that's t-shirt weather where I grew up...and Yes I like the new combinations and think they will help both teams..We will probably see a real difference even this week with Ambrose..since Blickensderfer is so tied into Roush.
Are you still working on a new fantasy game or did the dream fade away?
It faded just a bit, but still working on it...potential $$ partners had to back out..no hard feelings but frustrating..
Guru, do you have Rowdy down to win Texas and Phoenix?
No, but I have him as a potential top-5, which means I guess that is possible..This team is really performing well right now and Kyle's keeping his cool for the most part and that really helps.
How do you think Danica will rank in NASCAR fantasy pics starting at Daytona?
Way down the line...lack of experience is going to be a big problem for her pretty much all year..I'm rooting for her, but you can't snap your fingers and produce thousands of laps of experience...you have to earn them..the old fashioned way.
Would you rank the Danica-Gibson ahead of the Newman-Borland combination at SHR?
No, I certainly would not do that.
Do you think Busch Brothers fans have the right to blame driver of #2 for Kurt's ruined season (wreck out at spring Dega running 4th) and Kyle's (wreck out at The Glen while leading)?
No Turk, I don't think they should look at it that way..If Kyle had given Keselowski a little more room at the Glen and came out of there with the runner-up that might have been a game changer for Kyle in making the chase.
What can I say Mark, I am a Floridian w/Midwestern blood since my Dad is from STL and Mom from Central IL. And it is really cold. :) I think Blick will be a good fit as well. Just hate typing this case study.
From now on please sign in as Nick "Nancy Boy" Roalndo...lol
I think Menard should be a little better at Homestead..as to what tracks are close to Homestead I guess I would go with Charlotte..although with its progressive banking eventually Kansas will be closer but only after their new surface matures a little...and yes "fullofpace" blew mew away today!
If the name fits...lol...NASCAR is still working on some templates and should be wrapped up pretty soon. ..They can never do it soon enough for the teams, though.
It would be hard for me to imagine that Turk, but I never saw Edwards or Hamlin falling off the map either...
Hi Guru, since the Dale-Stevie hookup hasn't worked what do you think is plan B? Chad Knaus crew chiefing #88 maybe?
Joanne, who said the Dale Stevie hookup hasn't worked? I think it has and there's no need to change it and no way is Knaus on the way.
Well that's a wrap for today...everyone...remember our race day chat Sunday from Texas is at noon eastern time...hope you can make it...again keep the folks affected by Hurricane Sandy in your prayers..they have a long road ahead...Have a great week and may the force be with you...Sad to say but must "The Guru has left the building!"
