Good afternoon everyone...it's a nice sunny day here in NC and let's get this partaaaayyyy started.
Hell-o Mark, I didn't heed your advice about the 78 and went with the 43 instead.Ouch! I have gained so much value in Fantasy Cup I can take Logano instead of Kurt. Good move? Reading the other ESPN blogs, there is a lot of negative stuff out there. I'll still watch and listen and particapate. I tire of the negativity and hope the 2013 car pumps things up. Two more questions. Should NASCAR award championship points for quailfing? Should the leader after 26 races get extra points going into the "Chase" Thanks for your input, Bill PS The halloween candy held out and I doubled checked, the caboose "Be Looking Good"!
I still like the 78 and he gives a lot more flexibility and that team is building for 2013 while the 20 is playing out the string. I think Joey is top-15 material at least, but Busch will be stronger. No, I don't you should get points for qualifying, but it would spice up qualifying day, which is now a big yawn...but I do think the "regular season" champion should get three bonus points as if it were a "win".
Who do you think will win the Great Clips 200 & the Advocare 500 at Phoenix?
Elliott Sadler on Saturday and Jimmie Johnson on Sunday Chris.
Did you know anybody who was affected by Hurricane Sandy?
No, I don't know anyone personally affected, but the pictures are devastating.
All of Mark Martin's woes in 2012 have occurred at intermediate tracks. Does that mean he's a safe pick at PHX, one of his best tracks?
Zach, I can live with that thinking..but why not put Kurt Busch as your "floor" pick and then you can bypass Martin and his inconsistency. That's what I did last week going with the 48,18,17,15 and the 78...scored 205...not bad if I do say so myself.
Mark, hard to believe only 2 weeks left. For this week I have the 2-15-5-22 as preliminary. The 15, 5 and 22 are all my last starts with them. Or should I give the 88 or 56 the nod in place of the 15 and 5?Also, what about 24 or 18 for the 2? And 22 or 43 at PHX?Thanks Mark, got to DVR the race since I got a date on Sunday at the Chargers-Bucs game.
For the time being I would keep the 15 and the 5...The 2 is set on "kill" just like the #48..tough to walk away from him right now..I like the 22 just a little better than the 43 going in.
Guru, should i stick with 14, 15, 17, 43, 48? They got me to first place in the jayski group last week! Thanks! Dan
I saw you atop the "Jayski Junkies" standings..I'd swap out the 43 for the 78 at least...
How do our top tens compare?48 5 11 2 14 18 15 55 29 16

With more time on the new track surface do you think this race will be more like the old Phoenix or is it still a try and see track?
It will never entirely be like the old Phoenix because they changed the configuration..but it will continue to widen out and will gradually fall back in line with a New Hampshire.
Mark,I am hoping the 99 shows up at Homestead and runs well. Thoughts on that? I see you do not have a lot of love for him this week. Thanks.
Mike, they just don't have the speed and that seems on a week in, week out basis. If you don't have any speed you're not going to catch up.
Guru, which lineup has more potential 48, 11, 78, 18, 24 or 48, 11, 78, 2, 55? As always, thanks for your insight.
Dave, I like the first team better.
Folks...and I really, really need for you to pass this along..there will be a place to log in and give feedback about "The Guru" on the home page this week..a mailbag...other eyes at ESPN will be looking at so if you have a good word to say...what you like? Everything...and me of course..lol..tell the Guru Nation it's time for them to vote and I need as many "ballots" as I can get.
Guru - one last Brad to use - would you say Phoenix, or Homestead? - thanks, as always!
Joanie..I'm think you'd probably be better off at Homestead using Bad Brad...by the way have you noticed my scores in the segment..I got tired of people beating me up for my scores and people like you having to defend that I switch teams every week so I decided to play for keeps in segment three..and have done pretty well.
Is the new team with Reutimann just going to be another start and parker?
I don't know, but it will probably amount to that even if they didn't.
Can Dale ever win a championship?
No, I don't think so...his time for that has come and gone I do believe.
Is the place for feedback be on the ESPN home page or the Stock Car Challenge home page?
I think it will be on the Stock Car Challenge home page.
Awesome to see you rocking it Guru - when you're The Best, you'll always have a bulls-eye on your back, and wannabees taking cheap shots - there is too much for those of us who know what you are truly worth as a resource to lose, if the wrong set of ears listens to that stuff....
I'm not worried about people's opinions...more worried about budget cuts and "The Guru" lying on the floor with a with a chalk line around my body..lol
Will speed, riggs, mcdowell, wise, or yeley run the race this week or just start and park?
Speed my try to go the whole way, the others are starer and parkers.
Maybe if you tweet the page more of your followers will find it. We know what you do for us fantasy players and others should too.
Will try to do that once it's listed officially the website..got to make sure its up first though.
Yeah - I know that feeling too well - hopefully no one at ESPN kills Their Goose that Lays the Golden Eggs - you have a huge, if somewhat quieter that some of us - following.
Appreciate you saying...but I hope they make a little noise this next week..very important.
what team do you think be better team-1=48-2-18-24-78 or team-2=48-2-18 or 24-/ 20 or39/78-
I like the first team better John.
Hey there Guru. Hi there to Joanie, too! You can count on the Junkies for support. After two great segments, my luck has fallen to doodoo this segment. There were a couple of times Old Larry didn't take your advice. But Its been great and I look forward to next year and all of you great insight. Thanks Mark !
Thanks Larry and hope I'm back to do it again!
Is it just me, or is Paul Menard fading? If you agree, any ideas whats up there?
It's really the entire RCR organization. They've brought in a new competition director and that should help...next year.
If the chase remains as tight as it is, will there be any second thoughts about Ricky Stenhouse racing at Homestead - I guess he still makes me nervous, LOL. (Thanks for the shout-out, Larry - back atcha!)(And, Thanks for the shout-out, Larry -back atcha!)
26 FOR MEARS? REALLY... HOW ABOUT DANICA.. ?LISTENED TO THE 99 ON THE RADIO.. THAT IS ABOUT AS UNMOTIVATED AS I HAVE EVER HEARD CARL.. SHOULD HE TRY SOME NATIONWIDE OR JUST GO TO TAHITI OR BANGKOK AND CHILL FOR A MONTH AND COME BACK READY TO GO?
First, Danica not running the Cup race at Phoenix...Mears crashed and finshed 26th in the spring are you saying he got better than that?..There is something going on with Edwards you just can't be that good and fall off that much..I know Hamlin had a hangover after nearly winning but it was between the ears more than anything and he'll admit that..I wonder if it's the same with Carl.
HOW DO YOU THINK JOEY WILL DO IN THE 22? IS HORNISH SOMEWHERE IN THE PICTURE THERE?
I think Joey will do okay in the 22..switching three drivers over in basically one season..is hard for any team...he should get where he's consistent top-15 kind of guy maybe...Hornish will run for Nationwide Series title again and a few Cup races for Penske.
At one point, I managed to climb into the top 50 overall without ever taking the 48 or the 24. Well, I should have know that those guys on the 48 team would eventually put on their Superman capes.I've never been a fan of the team, but you damn well have to respect all they've done. My question is.. how long do you think an organization can keep it going at such a high level? There's a lot of talent on other teams, and they just can't come close to macthing them.
The fact is Larry we are watching something very special with Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus..they are still physically and mentally on top of their game and willing to do whatever it takes to stay on top. It's rare an athlete has that kind of ability and some day we'll look back and go "wow" Johnson sure deserved a lot more respect.
Just wanted to mention, I was impressed by Danica at Texas - she lost so much respect from me at Kansas, and coming back and quietly finishing one ahead of Landon Cassill at Texas was pretty redeeming, IMHO.
I agree with you Joanie..she looked good in both races..If she was in the NBA, they would say "the girl has got some game".
MAYBE I MISSED SOMETHING JAYSKI'S SHOWS DANICA IN THE 10. REUTIMANN IS ALSO RACING IN ANOTHER CAR. MAYBE THAT IS THE CONFUSION
Originally, Danica wasn't scheduled to run this race..might have missed that...Reutimann is driving for a new team at Phoenix I do know that..I would not put Danica top-30 at Phoenix in the Cup race at least not until practice and qualifying is over..this is one track she hasn't figured out at all yet.
According to her and Nascar's website, Danica is running Pheonix on Sunday.
Just missed that Tom..thanks for the heads up.
Got to run..I hope you have a great week and the force is with you...Sunday Phoenix chat is 12:30 eastern and look forward to chatting with you then...Pray for our country that somehow we can move forward..pray for the victims of Hurricane Sandy..and keep our men and women in service to our country in your hearts as well. Sad to say but must "The Guru has left the building!"
