Fantasy NFL with KC Joyner

KC Joyner
  (3:00 PM)

Good afternoon! Let's talk some fantasy football!

Jackson (Tampa FL)

At 3-6 is it over for me??? have ryan/freeman, dmc/charles/spiller/, welker/nelson/hartline. It feels like its over which is even more disappointing because i have a strong team. chalk two loses up to having charles and hartline on the bench in the respective weeks they went off

KC Joyner
  (3:02 PM)

That sure doesn't look like a 3-6 caliber lineup. Would have figured that squad for 4-5 wins at least.

Dave (Novato)

Hi KC, I need a RB who could explode if given more playing time in a PPR. Who do you think I should stash: Daryl Richardson, Ronnie Brown, Joquie Bell, or Jacquizz Rodgers?

KC Joyner
  (3:03 PM)

It's close between Bell and Richardson, would probably put Bell at the front of that list for now.

Rick (Irvine, CA)

Vick or Flacco for this week?

KC Joyner
  (3:04 PM)

Vick rates a lot higher on the TFS QB start-sit charts. Flacco just hasn't been putting up the points lately and Vick, for all of his issues, has still been producing pretty good fantasy point totals.

Bryan (CT)

Biggest bust so far? DMC? Jennings?

KC Joyner
  (3:04 PM)

It's hard to call Jennings a bust in that he was injured. DMC could be seen as a bust, not sure that he would be the biggest, but he's right up there.

jy (ny)

Rivers is my QB...I just traded J.Charles and F.Jax for RG3 and Turner....good trade?

KC Joyner
  (3:05 PM)

The Chiefs offense is starting to fall apart, so that's a good trade.

Preston (Missouri)

Mendenhall: is he worth holding on to?

KC Joyner
  (3:05 PM)

Sure. He's got a good shot at being the lead back once he's healthy.

Jake (Miami)

Am i crazy for thinking about starting Big Ben over Brees?

KC Joyner
  (3:06 PM)

Ben rates only two slots lower than Brees on the TFS QB start-sit charts, but he does rank two start grades lower. Stick with Brees.

Lawrence (Sacramento CA)

Always seem to choose the wrong TE. H. Miller or Gates this week? Thanks

KC Joyner
  (3:07 PM)

Tight end has to be the most disappointing fantasy football group of players this year. Just an awful year for most of them. Miller rates over Gates this week on the start-sit charts.

Spencer (Georgia)

I feel like I'm crazy for wanting to trade Demarco for Gresham

KC Joyner
  (3:08 PM)

Gresham could be the answer for the TE blues, so if you've got a solid RB roster outside of DeMarco, go for it.

Mac (MA)

LeShoure/Cobb for Mathews/Mike Williams... What side does the mad scientist take ROS??

KC Joyner
  (3:09 PM)

I'd take Mathews and Williams in that one, as I just don't trust LeShoure quite enough. And I'm not mad!

DK (Houston)

Does Locker hurt CJ1K's value? CJ took off when Locker got hurt...

KC Joyner
  (3:11 PM)

Facing Miami's defense will hurt CJ's value as much as anything this week. Things should get better after the bye, as he doesn't have any tough matchups down the stretch, but Locker's presence could hurt CJ a bit.

Jeff (Oklahoma)

You trust Hernandez this week, or would your roll with Olsen? Thanks!

KC Joyner
  (3:11 PM)

At this moment Hernandez is the pick, but keep an eye on the injury reports.

Glenn (Austin)

KC, Hi. Do you like Hilton tonight? He went off on the Jags earlier this year, but I'd have to play him over Maclin, Redman and Broyles. Thank you.

KC Joyner
  (3:12 PM)

Hilton could have a good game tonight but he rates lowest out of all of those players on the TFS start-sit charts.

Miss Elizabeth (WWF)

Not an insider. What is the conclusion to 'should you trade Eli Manning'? Also, if Donald Brown plays tonight should I bench both him and Ballard and play Stevie Johnson or pick up/play J Rodgers in my flex?

KC Joyner
  (3:13 PM)

The conclusion was don't trade him, as he's got some really good matchups down the stretch. Out of that group, Ballard and Johnson would be the lead picks.

Scott (PA)

Depressed Eagles fan, but hey nothing new. KC what are your thoughts on Jacquizz Rogers ROS? Do you think the Falcons will keep Turners numbers down for a strong playoff push?

KC Joyner
  (3:15 PM)

Hate to see what's happening to the Eagles. For Rodgers ROS, he's not going to become the lead ballcarrier, as Turner gives that team the power game they want to use as the counterpunch to their pass offense. Rodgers has solid PPR value but in standard leagues probably won't do a whole lot.

The Iron Sheik (NYC)

MR Scientist you must answer question for GREAT IRANIAN WRESTLER! Doug martin and Kendall Hunter for Spiller and Demarco Murray in .5 PPR 14 team league. Want to CRUSH enemies of sheik in the postseason, is this the move to help Sheik Crush ?

KC Joyner
  (3:16 PM)

How can you post a question from The Iron Sheik and not mention the Camel Clutch? I would not trade Doug Martin for anyone short of Adrian Peterson right now.

Jim C. (Boise, Idaho)

KC, can you give me your reasoning on Hernandez vs. Daniels? I own both and am having a hard time deciding who to start this week.

KC Joyner
  (3:17 PM)

The easiest method to decide is to go with the player who is healthy. Hernandez was limited in practice and Daniels wasn't, so Daniels would be the pick (and he does rate higher on the TFS start-sit sheets).

Wish I knew wrestlers (to get my question answered)

Redman or Heath Miller at flex?

KC Joyner
  (3:19 PM)

Just about every question today has been from someone who didn't post a wrestling name, so let's not start getting push back against that yet. Miller at flex unless it becomes clear Redman is going to be the lead back.

Macho Man (NWO)

Who to start Felix Jones or Malcom Floyd?

KC Joyner
  (3:20 PM)

Got Jones in that one.

Nick (Shh...at work!)

Would you trade away Harvin and Beanie Wells for Julio Jones?

KC Joyner
  (3:21 PM)

With Harvin's recent injury reports, that would be a trade to make. One report said he had three sprains in one foot.

Andrew (SF)

Do you dare start Fitzpatrick against the Pats over Newton or Eli?

KC Joyner
  (3:22 PM)

Would that Fitz was playing better. Then he could be justified over those other two. Newton rates highest out of that group.

Jesse "The Body" Ventura (The Body Shop)

Trade deadline is one week away. I own Gore and I want Hunter. The Hunter owner wants a starting RB/WR in return for the handcuff. Should I bite the bullet and give up a starter?

KC Joyner
  (3:24 PM)

Ventura and Monsoon were awesome. It's a tough call to make but don't give up a starter for a depth player if you can help it.

Ric (Flair)

Shorts and Redman are even on your start/sit sheets, who do I risk in my flex?

KC Joyner
  (3:25 PM)

Tough call. Unless there has been some news since the sheets were sent out this morning, Shorts would probably be the pick since Redman's grade could drop depending on the Steelers RB health status.

Sam (Terlingua)

Where can I find your start/sit list? Thanks!

KC Joyner
  (3:26 PM)

The start-sit charts are available via my start-sit subscription service. More info can be found at www.thefootballscientist.com (only site plug of the chat).

Jesse "conspiracy theorist" Ventura (WI)

I offered Mathews and gates for Graham. Other owner thinks I'm trying to rip him off b/c he needs an RB badly. Fair?

KC Joyner
  (3:27 PM)

Put it this way - it's not a trade I would block if I was commissioner of that league.

Ray "The Crippler" Stevens (80s WWF)

KC, answer my question or I'm gonna piledrive you !! Is Buffalo gonna take the bubble wrap off Spiller and let him run wild. Or should I expect 6 more weeks of the timeshare?

KC Joyner
  (3:29 PM)

The master of the Bombs Away. Spiller has been more productive than Jackson but the Bills still seem determined to split the workload. Expect the same for the next six weeks.

Jack (Boston)

Matthews and megatron too much to give for AP? I have good WR depth, Wallace, James jones, Lloyd amendola, but could use another RB

KC Joyner
  (3:30 PM)

AP was just moved up to a blue rating last week. Those players are hard to find and giving up Mathews and Megatron (who was recently downgraded to a green rating) is a good move in this case.

Jimmy Superfly Snuka (Hawaii)

Luck or Cam higer on your charts? F. Jax or Ballard for my flex? PPR Aloha!

KC Joyner
  (3:31 PM)

Cam, but not by much. Ballard over Jackson.

Bruno Sammartino (Pittsburgh PA)

Do I go C Palmers volume or J Flaccos match-up?

KC Joyner
  (3:33 PM)

Palmer. He's been a consistent point producer for most of the season. Funny thing is he is still owned in less than 70 percent of ESPN leagues. Guy just can't convince the fantasy world he's worth putting on a roster.

Ric Flair (My Shoes. Cost More. Than Your House.)

ROS: Hartline or Malcom Floyd? Beanie Wells or Felix Jones?

KC Joyner
  (3:34 PM)

That is still one of the best lines ever. Hartline & Floyd rate even on the chart. Jones over Wells.

Leaping Lanny Poffo (The Bard of the WWF)

For the rest of the season, who would your starter be? The emerging Andrew Luck or the multi-threat, RGIII?

KC Joyner
  (3:35 PM)

Probably Luck at this point since RG3 and the Redskins offense is starting to get a bit banged up.

Andre the Giant (France)

Is C. Shots a good bye week fill in?

KC Joyner
  (3:36 PM)

Got Shorts rated 25th on the start-sit charts. Not a bad fill-in, just depends on the rest of the roster.

Ric Flair (Charlotte, NC)

That's why this sportscoat costs $800 and that (David Crockett) costs $200 and I don't know what that (Tony Schiavone's sportscoat) costs, I'd be ashamed to wear it.

KC Joyner
  (3:37 PM)

Great line, but it helps if you post a fantasy ? to go along with it.

Russ (MA)

Is S Rice for Mendenhall a fair deal? S Rice wits on my bench in favor of D Moore, M Austin and D Thomas

KC Joyner
  (3:38 PM)

Sure, if Mendenhall gets healthy.

Hangman Bobby Jaggers (PNW)

Luck or Romo? Cowboys D or Broncos D?

KC Joyner
  (3:39 PM)

Now that's going into the wrestling archives for a name. Luck ranks slightly ahead of Romo. Cowboys and Broncos have the same start-sit rank, but the Cowboys rate slightly higher in terms of matchup points.

joe (md)

Shorts or hilton tonight?? Shorts still an ok play even though robinson is back?

KC Joyner
  (3:40 PM)

Got Shorts rated higher than Hilton. Not worried too much about Robinson's impact on Shorts.

Jimmy N (DC)

Need some saaaaage advice scientist!!! Danny Amendola or Steven jackson in the flex? (non PPR). Thank you good sir!!

KC Joyner
  (3:42 PM)

Welcome back, Jimmy! Those two rate even on the start-sit charts but since Amendola has been limited in practice, Jackson gets the nod here.

James (Charlotte, NC)

Whats the deal with Jamaal Charles?

KC Joyner
  (3:42 PM)

It's pretty simple - that offense is falling apart. And it likely won't get better this week with a road trip to Pittsburgh.

The Undertaker (walking the top rope)

A sneaky wr for week 10 would be_________?

KC Joyner
  (3:43 PM)

OLD SCHOOL!!!! Brandon Lloyd could be a sneaky pick. He's apt to get two more touchdowns this week.

J.B. ( Parsley, Sage Rosenfels )

The fact that I was here today for a Jimmy question made my entire day.

KC Joyner
  (3:45 PM)

Good to have you join the chat, J.B.! We'll have to get the usual football chat (i.e. non-fantasy oriented) going again here in the near future.

Bobby the Brain Heenan (Indiana)

Listen humanoid, if Mendenhall sits, and I have to pick 1 from Redman and Dwyer, you'd go with Dwyer? Reasoning?

KC Joyner
  (3:46 PM)

Note on Heenan - check out his autobiography. Quite the interesting read if you like old school wrestling. I pick Redman out of that group because he's just the type of power back Pittsburgh likes to center its offense around.

J.B. ( Parsley, Sage Rosenfels )

Team name is Parsley, Sage Rosenfels and Thyme. Sorry about that, Jimmy and KC. Certain symbols don't translate here.

KC Joyner
  (3:46 PM)

Cool name.

Mr. Wrestler (Number Two)

Not to be confused with #1. Agonizing over Reece and T.Jones and need somebody to flex (.5 PPR). Emmanual Sanders or Broyles (even if Titus plays) a better bet than either?

KC Joyner
  (3:48 PM)

My brother thought it was hilarious that they would take the concept of Mr. Wrestling and expand it to Mr. Wrestling II. Quick look says Broyles rates best out of that group.

Mason (SC )

Would you play Dez Bryant over P Thomas or R Matthews?

KC Joyner
  (3:49 PM)

Dez is a tough call this week. He rates even with Mathews, so it's pretty much a coin flip on that one.

Jesse (ME)

Thoughts on Chris Ivorys this week?

KC Joyner
  (3:50 PM)

He played well but it's generally a good idea to avoid a RBBC that could have as many as four players getting the football.

Charles (Boston)

Is seattle D worth hanging on to when they go on their bye week 11?

KC Joyner
  (3:51 PM)

If you are pretty sure about your playoff chances, keep them. Those week 14 and 15 matchups (vs. Arizona, at Buffalo) could be high scoring days.

Kevin (New York)

Would you trade Julio Jones for Jamaal Charles? I am very weak at RB, but my other WR's are Desean Jackson, Antonio Brown and Josh Gordon, none of whom are consistent.

KC Joyner
  (3:53 PM)

Can't sign off on that one, as Charles just hasn't been, and may not be, productive enough to justify the move. Jones should have high trade value right now so ask around to see if you can get a higher rated player for him.

Candy (Slippery Rock)

KC, which TE should I use this week in a PPR, Jermaine Gresham or Brandon Myers?

KC Joyner
  (3:53 PM)

Got Gresham rated higher.

Keanu (Honolulu)

Hey KC, do you think LaRod Stephens-Howling will have any value with Beanie Wells returning?

KC Joyner
  (3:54 PM)

LSH will be a drop candidate once Wells returns.

JIm (Warren, OH)

playing my boss and want to crush him...better flex: ballard, p thomas or torrey?

KC Joyner
  (3:55 PM)

Always like to help with this type of situation. Like Ballard in this case.

Kevin (Akron, OH)

I would love to know why I've been unable to get a response on any of these fantasy chats for over a month now. Are my questions really that bad? Can I roll with Felix Jones and Isaac Redman this week or should I look to upgrade?

KC Joyner
  (3:56 PM)

Kevin, I can only speak for this chat. What I look for are interesting/quick questions that have some sort of theme (i.e. wrestling, movie quotes, etc.) or humor. Jones and Redman look to be good selections for this week.

Dyson Salesman (Front Door)

In a vacuum...Peyton and Ridley enough value for Gronk and Mathews?

KC Joyner
  (3:58 PM)

Pun humor. Given the dearth of quality TEs out there, this deal is OK.

Erin (Poughkeepsie)

Any bump to Hilton with Avery's injury?

KC Joyner
  (3:58 PM)

Sure. Just don't think it raises his value much past possible flex status.

the blue blazer (newport beach, ca)

wats up with all the wrestler names? let's see if you can recognize this one. taiwan jones vs andre brown vs dwyer in a super deep league. must start one. who wins?

KC Joyner
  (4:00 PM)

C'mon man - that's an easy name to come up with. Jones is the likely pick out of that group, as he very well could end up being the lead back in that offense this week.

Farmer's Wife (Danville)

I can't believe my opponent last week decided to start Doug Martin, did he think a great performance was just going to fall right out of the sky... BOOM!!! Anyway, who has most upside between Gates and Gresham? Between Romo and Palmer?

KC Joyner
  (4:01 PM)

She never does seem to learn, does she? Gates has more upside but not by much. Romo's matchups are just a bit better, so he also wins the upside argument.

Lanny Poffo (the Genius)

Who would you keep of the two KC, Doug Martin or Trent Richardson, thanks for helping me.

KC Joyner
  (4:03 PM)

I'm assuming this is for a keeper league, so it's not just a ROS selection. Would have to say Martin if only because the Tampa offense is starting to look like it could be a dominant group down the road. Cleveland has some good weapons in place but all in all it isn't looking like it will develop into a dominant group.

Yoshi (NY)

Right now, is trading Percy Harvin for Vincent Jackson sounding like a good deal to you?

KC Joyner
  (4:05 PM)

That's a very good deal for the team that gets Jackson. Harvin is a great player but he's battling injuries again and that's not a good sign. Well, it's been a fun hour but it's time to hit the road. Quick notes - the TFS material is always posted on Twitter @KCJoynerTFS. I'll be taking part in an in-game chat on ESPN.com this evening, so join the conversation if you can. More info on the start-sit charts can be found at www.thefootballscientist.com. Thanks for all of the questions and I hope to see you all here next week!
