  (2:04 PM)

What's going on everybody? Let's get this chat rolling ...

Tom (Chicago)

It annoys me that people are mad about Jo's 3 point attempt. If another team did that to us to win their fans food, I would not complain. I understand there's a courtesy factor, but the fans should be more important than your competition!

Nick Friedell
  (2:06 PM)

I don't think fans were all that upset. I do think Thibs was upset. That's the difference.

ron (chicago)

why in the world did they let Korver go? He was only slated to make about $5-6 million a season, I think - it couldn't have been a money call. Not a single Bulls fan I know can figure it out. Please enlighten

Nick Friedell
  (2:10 PM)

The Bulls would have loved to keep Korver. The problem was that they didn't want to pay him 5 mil plus the luxury tax hit to keep him. Especially in a year when they knew they weren't going to win a title without Derrick Rose for a huge chunk of the season.

Steve Magana (Downers Grove)

Nick, do you think the Bulls will have any allstars this year?

Nick Friedell
  (2:11 PM)

I think Noah and Deng could make it if they stay healthy.

Eric Moritz (Mundelein IL)

I know it's a long way before you can make any strong comparisons but can Marquis Teague become a Monta Ellis type of player? Both are guards who are extremely quick and can create their own shots. What do you think?

Nick Friedell
  (2:11 PM)

No.

Nate Robinson (Chicago)

Why am I not in the starting 5? Do you think I'll be the starting point guard at some point this season?

Nick Friedell
  (2:12 PM)

Nope. Not unless Hinrich gets hurt.

Matt (SC)

Nick do you see the Bulls being active when the trading deadline comes around especially if Rose is back and looks good?

Nick Friedell
  (2:14 PM)

No I don't. The only move I think they'll make is to try and trade Rip if a team wants him. The Bulls know he doesn't fit into their long term plans.

Tom (Chicago)

Let's say it's the playoffs and Rose is back. If Rip is hurt, who starts at the 2, Kirk or Belinelli? I guess this would apply if Rip is gone next year as well.

Nick Friedell
  (2:15 PM)

Kirk.

kathy (chi)

who is the funniest guy in the bulls locker room?

Nick Friedell
  (2:16 PM)

Noah. Nate is pretty funny, too.

dan (texas)

not trying to beat a dead horse, but if Boozer plays well, does he have any trade value? (or his is contract way too big to have any value whatsoever?)

Nick Friedell
  (2:17 PM)

No No and No.

Brad (Iowa)

Do the Bulls win the Central now that Granger is out for the year? That puts them in the top 4 in the East.

Nick Friedell
  (2:18 PM)

I think they can. It all depends on if their veteran core stays healthy without Derrick on the floor.

John (Plainfield, IL, USA)

Nick, who has been in your opinion the mvp in the first 4 games and who needs to step it up?

Nick Friedell
  (2:20 PM)

I'd say Deng with Noah a close second. Hinrich has played all right but he can play better. He will once he gets healthy.

Jay (Chicago )

Nick I've read your article about the bulls 2 year plan and i just don't think it will produce a second star for Derrick Rose. It's obvious that gar forman/john paxson or whoever handles free agents don't do the best job with star players. Wouldn't it have been smart to just tank this season to try and to get a high draft pick?

Nick Friedell
  (2:23 PM)

Thibodeau would never let the Bulls tank a season. That's the answer to the second part. As for the first part, only time will tell. I think it's the best of a pile of bad options.

Al Smith (Downers Grove)

What would it take to bring Kevin Love to Chicago?

Nick Friedell
  (2:24 PM)

It's going to take a trade or he will have to opt out of his deal. I think that's the guys the Bulls would love to pair Derrick with if they can't get LeBron or Wade again.

Matt (Barrington, IL)

Nick, in your honest opinion, do you think Derrick Rose will come back and play at the MVP level were accustom to seeing? I do, just wanted your opinion.

Nick Friedell
  (2:26 PM)

Yes, I think he will. I just don't think it will happen this season.

Neal (Chicago)

Thoughts on Jimmy Butler so far? Still isnt showing much offense

Nick Friedell
  (2:27 PM)

Jimmy has been very solid defensively. In order for him to get consistent playing time he's got to start knocking down the open jumpers he is getting.

JD (Dallas)

Nick, Why do the still play "Pump Up the Jam", "Good Vibration" by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, and "Boom, Shake, Shake, Shake the Room" and the United Center? What decade/century is this??? Don't you think there is something the Bulls can do to create more energy at the games like OKC, Miami, Dallas, New York, etc.?

Nick Friedell
  (2:30 PM)

I actually think the music has been much better this year. I don't think it's a lack of effort from the Bulls, I just think the crowd at the United Center is pretty quiet.

Jeff B. (The UC Rafters)

Nick - its been awhile... how are you livin' these days? What do you think of the squad we have seen through 4 games? Boozer seems to have a slight spark in him and Jo must have upgraded to lithium-ion batteries.. more energy than i have seen from him since his national champ dance with Florida. Have you though about changing your predictions for the Bull's record? Too early?

Nick Friedell
  (2:31 PM)

I still say this team can win 50 games. They have enough talent to win on most nights in the regular season if they stay healthy.

Matt (Chicago)

Nick, I had the same ACL operation by the same Doctor as Rose, only two months earlier. I've been playing basketball since September without any setbacks. Obviously not quite the same level as Rose. Iman Shumpert had the same injury on the same day as Rose, and he's projecting his return to be January or February. Why are people suggesting Rose will be out a full year?

Nick Friedell
  (2:34 PM)

Here's why: The future of the franchise is based on Rose's health. The Bulls will not let him back on the floor unless he is 100 percent healthy. If the Bulls start piling up losses for some reason it wouldn't surprise me to see them shut Derrick down for the year.

izzybone (indiana)

Nick, who would win in a fight, coach thibs or ditka from the mid 80s?

Nick Friedell
  (2:35 PM)

I know the answer is always supposed to be Ditka -- but I say Thibs would win.

Vlad R (End of the bench)

am I going to get some playing time soon?

Nick Friedell
  (2:36 PM)

Nope. Sorry, Vlad. You are the new Scal.

Austin (Winnetka)

Like last season, Deng gets significant minutes with both the first and second units. Are you worried at all that he'll wear down, seeing as he is now being called upon to be the team's leading scorer with Rose out and has dealt with wrist issues recently?

Nick Friedell
  (2:37 PM)

Yes, I would be worried. Lu is a human being, not a robot. But he swears he's fine and will be OK. We will see.

Kevin (Charleston, IL)

Through 4 games Noah is averaging 16.0 PPG. Is he a legitimate scoring threat all season? Or are his numbers inflated due to the lack of Derrick Rose in the offense?

Nick Friedell
  (2:38 PM)

He is more comfortable with his offense this year -- but there is no question Rose's absence has helped his numbers.

Tam (Springfield)

Do you think Nate comes back next year when Rose is back n healthy? I feel like we would still have Kirk and Teague, wouldn't need a guy jacking up so many shots (maybe for the minimum I guess)?

Nick Friedell
  (2:41 PM)

It's way too early to tell. My early guess would be no, though. Bulls already have Rose, Hinrich and Teague locked in.

Tawone Dickson (Gary, In)

Do u think the Bulls would consider signing Delonte West?

Nick Friedell
  (2:43 PM)

Nope.

Tom (Chicago)

Any idea what the bulls would be looking for in the draft? I think they have to start considering bigs, like Noah, even if they are a project

Nick Friedell
  (2:47 PM)

I think it will be the best available player. But I do think they will take a strong look at big men. Nazr might be done after this year,

Manny (Glenview)

Looking at the league now and what seems to be the dawn of LeBron's Era do you think the bulls would have been better suited to trade Luol in the offseason for a lottery pick?

Nick Friedell
  (2:52 PM)

I don't think there were many guys, if any at all, that they were in love with at the draft. Having said that, I think Deng could be on the trade block before the end of next season because he will be coming off the books and maybe they could get something in return.

Nick Friedell
  (2:54 PM)

All right everybody, I am out of here. I'll talk to you guys next week. If you're at a game come down and say hello.
