Eating a little salmon for lunch, while watching the fish do their thing in the aquarium. Y'all ready to do this? Let's roll
Good Day JJT, These penalties are killing the Cowboys. When is Mr. Discipline and Accountability going to start demonstrating and holding players accountable. Nothing changes... Are they doing something during practice that doesn't show up on the feld?
Well, there are two types of penalties. Presnap and postsnap. No excuse for presnap penalties. Those must cease. The postsnap penalties are trickier because they occur in the flow of the game. That said, no excuse whatsoever for Morris Claiborne lining up offside twice. If Mike Jenkins had been healthy, you probably would've seen him. That said, Jason Hatcher took a seat on the bench for a few plays after being offside twice. Garrett must do more of that. Whether it's for a series or a quarter or whatever. That's how you get attention and response
Do you think Dallas could be interested in Ray Edwards now that Kenyon Coleman has been placed on IR and Lissemore still out with the high ankle sprain?
Nope. He's 268 pounds. That's a poor fit in the 3-4. Look at the Cowboys DL, they're all much closer to 305-310
Do you think that the Dallas Cowboys will make the Playoffs if they Beat all the Teams that they Play in November?
bro, u know I don't like hypotheticals. Let's see what happens
What Morris Claiborne will show up for the rest of the season?
He's playing a tough position and he's going to get challenged. He's struggled the past 2 weeks, which came two week after he played pretty well. He was awful, but he'll be ok
Why don't we see more of Beasly? Romo trust him.. he runs good routes.. can't be to much of a loss of talent from KO..
You're seeing a little more - emphasis on little - but he doesn't ply special teams. Ogletree has had fewer than 30 snaps in 3 of 4 games, so he's getting phased out. f Beasley continues to deliver he'll get more opportunities
Do you think Claiborne will rebound from a horrible game, and what are your thoughts on him addressing the team after the game?
if you can't rebound from a bad game as a CB, you have no chance. Yes, I expect him to be much better. He didn't have to address team - they've all screwed up this season - but kudos to him if he did. He has no desire to hide - and that's admirable
jeanwhy can't jerry jones stayaway from it's players and coaches. & how murray proess going.
why is the sky blue and the sun yellow?
Since Felix has played well as of late do you think he will mor eplaying time when murray returns?
Whenever Demarco gets back, Felix will be able to handle his role better than he did early in the season. Actually, he was playing well after that awful start until he banged his knee against Carolina. Now, he's got some burst and acceleration back
Now that Coleman doen for the season will Crawford or lissermore become the starter?
Crawford has been averaging about 18 plays a game the last month. You'd like to see that increase by 10-12 plays a game because it's pretty clear they have no long-term plan for marcus Spears
If the Mavs don't become serious contenders in the next year, do you think they would consider trading dirk and rebuilding?
Dirk has no-trade clause. He only gets traded if he wants to leave, which I doubt he will
Do you think the cowboys can catch the giants?
Whats the deal with scandrick hands? #lackofplaymakers
why do you think he plays DB?
Is Dwayne Harris a Better returner than dez in your opinion?
interesting question. I'd say Dez is a better punt return. He's bigger, faster and stronger. But Dez is always in such a hurry to make a big play that he won't take the 8-10 yard return. Harris reminds me of Patrick Crayton. He'll catch the ball, get 8-10 yards and if you give him a crease he'll bust you for 30-40 yards or take it to the house. They're not fancy, but they're effective. Dez could learn from Harris
It seems like Claiborne has a trouble on deep routes and jump balls. Why is that? and can it get fixed?
I wouldn't say that. It was his strength at LSU. He had an awful game. It happens. I wouldn't make any proclamations about his career based on that game
DO YOU THINK THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME WOULD HAVE BEEN THE SAME IF VICK STAYED IN THE GAME?
hypothetical. Who knows? I'd say Vick gives the Eagles a better chance to win than a rookie who's never played
Will Mike Jenkins and Murray be ready this week?
first day of practice is wednesday. Players off today
Will this Offensive line be the cowboys downfall again down the stretch this year? Bernadeau SUCKS!
I haven't watched Sunday's game yet, but Bernadeau has been playing much better. Overall, the line was OK for the most part against Philly. They're not a great line, so it's never going to be perfect
Dwayne Harris an option for kickoff returns now too? What about more wide receiver play?
let him handle this role first. Let him master it and get comfortable and confident. Then branch out
Do you agree with Stephen A. Smith that no matter how good the cowboys are that theyre a "accident waiting to happen"?
nope. I don't believe in luck or happenstance and that falls into that category. If they play well they can have some measured success this season. If not, they'll be sitting at home with 7 or 8 wins. Again
Are you paying Spencer longterm at 29? franchising him again? or draft someone else?
good question. I'm trying to pay him, but he's a good player and he wants to be paid like a great player. It's tricky. At worst, he gets franchised again.
What do you think about Rodney Harrison's comments that the Cowboys are a more dangerous team right now than the Saints?
didn't hear them. In general, I'd say no. They're winning, but I'm unimpressed with their consistency. They haven't even won back to back games this season. Dangerous as of today? whatever
How is Phil Costa recovering? I'd sure like to see him back in the lineup when Murray comes back. Also, now that Coleman is done for the year - are there any moves that you think the Cowboys will make?
won't get an update until Wednesday, but he suffered a serious injury and it's only been 3 weeks
What is the longest win streak the Cowboys have had in the past few years? We are staring at 3 very very winnable games in a row at home, but it sure is tough to be confident.
4 last year before the annual later-season collapse
Blessings JJT - Thanks for hosting today's chat. I didn't see Sunday's game. Does the offensive line seem to be playing better? And if so, who in particular seems to be improving?
my pleasure. OL is playing better. They were garbage early in the season. Now, they're average. You may laugh, but that's improvement
Any chance the Cowboys can hold on to guys like Peprah and Sims to help with their depth for the long haul? I like some of the things these guys can do and it would be great to keep them even when Lee and Church return next season.
Sims is not a long-term fit. He's doing good job filling in, but he;'s too small, I think, to be good player in 3-4. Peprah might last if he can stay healthy
Backup Center is now Bernadeau. This seems to me that Kowalski is getting activated soon and Arkin will be cut. My question is does Kowalski have a chance to take the job from Cook? Cook is a horrible run blocker and i seem to remember Kowalski being decent in both facets when he played last season? He was supposed to compete with Costa and Nagy for a starting C position right?
It's just too early to say. IU'd say if Kowalski plays well, he can. But it has been a long time since he played football. It's going to take a minute to find his rhythm. Remember, it's not like he was a great player
Not only penalties, horrible coaching. Garrett is not a right fit for the Cowboys, he is too soft and doesn't discipline them. I swear if I was the HC you getting fined by the team, losing PT osmething to get them to understand I am not playing around. Especially penalties that can be easily prevented. Take it some just happen and can't get too mad about the "questionable" ones. But they need to be held accountable for stupidity, cough, Claiborne and O-Line. I would literally tell the line for each QB pressure and/or sack that will be a deduction in PT on that drive.
He's benched some guys and taken away some PT, but he;s not very dramatic about it. He benched Jason Hatcher for a few plays last night. Dez lost his job and Phillip Tanner too. Ogletree has lost about 15 plays a game over the last month.
very nice Lionel Richie song back in the day
do you belive cowboys could go for guards or center in next draft, despite the bad signs of this season
The Cowboys are not alone in OL problems but why does Dallas seem to be so challenged to draft and develop OL talent? Arkin appears to be another failed pick. Thanks.
good question that requires too much conversation for a chat. The short version: they haven't spent many premium picks on OL, so they're always trying to coach somebody up. Secondly, Hudson Houck had a reputation for preferring vets over youngsters and grew sour quickly, when they didn't pick it up quickly. Houck denies it.
If Texas beats K-State, would that give the Heisman to Johnny Football? And would that be the ultimate of ironies?
what's ironic about it? Johnny Football is terrific, but he didn't walk on water against Florida and LSU and that will probably hurt him
As a Packers fan, I was always relieved to know a sure-handed Antonio Chatman was fielding punts while fully realizing the return itself wouldn't change the world. Bryant's commitment to making every play a Sportscenter highlight continually puts the Cowboys at risk of going on defense again. While he's gone through stretches of being ignored by Romo, at what point would Garrett put Dez on the bench to prove his point about being smart and not just athletic? Obviously, the options behind him aren't great at receiver but a point has to be made, right?
well, he benched him as a punt returner 2 weeks ago. Dez made a sensational 30-yard catch for a TD sunday and added another 49 yard catch to set up a FG
Any chance Ratliff gets moved to replace Coleman? Seems that Brent has been doing a good job.
i wouldn't think so. His quickness makes him special inside. Outside, he's just a guy
I don't think his son's death - tragic cause he tried to fight it, but couldn't win - is the reason the Eagles stink this year. He ignores a terrific RB and he linked himself with Michael Vick, who's an average player right now. He made Juan Castillo a scapegoat. He's had a wonderful 14-year ride, but it's over. That said, Tony Dungy I believe took some time off after his son's death. It can be done.
Almost spit iced tea on the monitor on the Lionel Richie joke. Nice 80's reference.
who says I don't have a sense of humor
Oh, you mean the roll-on-the-ground "catch". Yeah, great play there.
sorry u disagreed with refs. They looked at it about 100 times
Sorry to keep asking questions-Cowboys are killing me!!!Over Garrett's tenure where would you say the Cowboys have progressed and regressed in all areas.
some ways progress. Some ways regress. But all fans want is wins, so it doesn't matter in some respects.
It sure has been enjoyable watching Bruce Carter this year. Speed sideline to sideline, sure tackler and great coverage. Who gets credit for drafting him? JJ, Rob or Garrett?
that's the mess that ruined the franchise with Jimmy and Jerry. They really do make collective decisions based on their draft board and needs
Why is Jerry selling an old school tshirt with both teams helmets on it for this gm? Is it a throwback uni wk? I just can't imagine much demand for apparrel when a 4-5 vs a 2-7 plays each other.
Guess he wants to sell something other than panties
Why has gerald struggled as of late in coverage?
He doesn't get matched up 1-on-1 that much. Usually, he's in some kind of zone, so it's hard for me to say
why can't we teach our seconardy to be ballhawks
u can't teach that or every team would be like that. Players need skill and confidence to do that
It has been a great chat, but I just flew in from Philly - boy are my arms tired - and I'm doing radio tonight on 103.3 with Joe Trahan, so we're going to cut this one just a lil bit. Peace and blessings
