Hi and welcome to our weekly Friday chat. It's good to see what you guys want to talk about.
Do you think ObamaCare will cause the Cowboys to have to cut some personel?
Nope. But I think some of these players, such as Mike Jenkins, Matt Johnson and DeMarco Murray should be ready to play in December.
for you, cowboys could make playoffs
Of course, the Cowboys can make the playoffs. In order to do so, the Cowboys might have to win six of their next seven games. That's a hard task given several teams on the schedule are also fighting for playoff spots such as Pittsburgh, New Orleans and Washington. The Redskins are a long-shot, but I don't believe Robert Griffin III will give up on the Redskins season.
Will Jason Garret ever give up the play calling?
Garrett said one day he'll give it up, but it's not going to be soon. Garrett has to be in charge of a team for about seven-to-ten years before he allows someone else to call the plays.
have you observed practice enough with Bernadeau at Center and Dockery at G to guess if the running game will be better if Cook has to sit out? It seems like Cook is a decent pass blocker but he struggles getting push in the run game. You even mentioned that Costa gets to the 2nd level better and is stronger.
I like what Bernadeau can do at center, good push and reaches second-level. Cook is average at best. The problem with the run game isn't so much the line, it's the running backs and their inability to make plays. Felix Jones has produced some decent runs of late, but he's not consistent. Lance Dunbar struggled last week at Philly and he's taken over the No. 2 spot from Phillip Tanner, but I don't see much difference. Dunbar and Tanner are two good running backs who have futures, but they just need to be more aggressive.
i hope dallas cowboys doing right thing with murray.calvin
I thought Murray would have returned by now, but the team is being cautious, too cautious if you ask me regarding his return. Yeah, the team ran well last week at Philadelphia, but the Cowboys need him. Murray won't play this week and it wouldn't surprise me if he misses the Washington game. So coming back for the December portion of the schedule might be in the teams best interest, but I wonder if they're still in the playoff chase by then.
Do you think Dez will come into his own soon?
I think Dez has played well the last few weeks. He ran two good routes against the Eagles resulting into big plays. His double-move and stop-and-go routes were the best he's looked in a while. Bryant said yesterday he's playing a lot better and there's more to come.
I see this team commit a lot of dumb penalties. why coaches are not holding these players to higher standard.
The coaches are holding them to a high standard. The tackles have way too many penalties, and the offsides calls from last week were terrible. Cowboys have to do a much better job of handling hard counts. Kyle Orton worked on hard counts this week in practice. We'll see if they work.
I'm completely over Orlando Scandrick. He drops the ball at the worst times week after week and I don't think he can be reliable in clutch moments. Do you see the staff evaluating the importance of having Mike Jenkins back for the future based off how well he's played this year and how poorly Scandrick has played?
The Cowboys have just two interceptions from their cornerbacks, Claiborne and Carr, Scandrick should have at least two picks this season. Now Scandrick didn't finish the play, something the Cowboys want to see out of him. All they have is six pass breakups, tied for the team lead with Claiborne. Scandrick is a smart player, one of the smartest on defense, but he needs to create more turnovers from his position in the slot. I don't believe Jenkins will return next year, he's going to miss Sunday's game with a sore back and I'm sure that's upsetting the front office. Jenkins probably wants a new start somewhere else.
Do you think Jay Ratliff will be completely healthy this year seems like he is a big difference when it comes to getting pressure
Ratliff has been dealing with health issues the entire season and it won't stop until 2012 ends. Ratliff is still a force, especially up the middle, but the facts are he's not healthy. I don't believe he's a liability on defense, but he is producing, nine quarterback pressures, and taking on double-teams.
Your trusted prediction for Sunday?
Take the Cowboys, of course.
What are the odds that Cole Beasley see's more work. He is quick in and out of his routes and it seems that defenses lose track of where he is due to his lack of vertical prowess.
He's gotten six offensive snaps the last two weeks and I like him out of the slot position. He knows how to settle into open spots of zone coverages and has a way of getting open. Jason Garrett said Beasley is QB friendly. What's QB friendly? It's a wide receiver who knows what he's doing and can be trusted by the quarterback.
One last thing on Beasley. I think he'll get more snaps on Sunday at Cleveland.
how many turnovers have this denfense force.
The Cowboys have forced 10 turnovers this season including four the last three weeks. Half of these turnovers have come in the second half, with three in the fourth quarter of games.
Ok guys, time for a 2:30 p.m. CT meetings, so our chat will be cut short today. Thanks for taking the time to chat. Have a great Thanksgiving.
