Good morning gang! The fantasy trade deadline approaches, so let's get to our hour of chattage, shall we? Second cup of coffee is in hand, so call it in the air!
Should I try to trade Ray Rice since the offense isn't involving him as much as last year? And if so what should I look in return? Like a Trent Richardson or Lynch?
Last year is over. Rice is still the No. 4 scoring RB this season with this year's "level of involvement" so unless you're getting Foster or AP, I'm not sure why you'd be all that concerned.
Time to pick up Danario Alexander and bench Fitz? Any point in trying to trade Fitz?
Here's the thing with trading. We all want to get rid of disappointing players, but the other owners are likely to think those players are disappointing too. Feel free to shop all your players. But only accept deals where you're getting back a package you are happy with - never trade just to trade. And yes, Alexander makes a solid pickup.
Is this a good deal, trading Chris Johnson & AJ Green for Arian Foster
Read my article on trade value... generally speaking, I'd rather have Foster than CJ2K, but it all depends on who steps in for AJ Green in my lineup. If it's Chaz Schilens, that's different than if it's Eric Decker.
Is Carson Palmer for Christian Ponder a fair trade?
I'd rather have Palmer going forward personally, but Ponder has had his moments, and with a healthy Harvin, if someone feels that he's got more upside? That's why we play the game.
Which RB's you pick up on the Broncos, Knowshon, Hillman or Lance Ball?
Hillman. Moreno hasn't sniffed the field in ages.
I am thinking about trading charles and lance moore for carson palmer and marshall or wallace...do you think palmer is reliable going forward? I have rivers at qb and alex smith on my bench
He's got the weapons with DHB and Denarius, but if DMC doesn't get back to full-strength soon, the run game won't ever keep the defenses honest. Hanging hopes on a healthy McFadden? Not my cup of tea.
Is this a good trade idea...I get Gore, he gets Ridley and Witten. I still have Graham as TE
Obviously, injuries can always crop up, so you may want to hold on to Witten. But, having said that, you don't NEED him and to me, Gore is more reliable on a weekly basis than is Ridley due to Belichick's penchant to switch up his RBs on a dime.
I have Bush, Charles, and Morris as my running backs... None of them have been performing of late, what kind of value do you think I could get with a multi-player deal with these players?
Value is in the eye of the beholder. I'd rather have Morris of the three, so I'd pay you more for him than the others.
Is there any value for Justin Blackmon after last weeks game?
Tons of value in a sell-high scenario. Even if the Henne-Blackmon connection continues going forward, someone else is likely to overpay for the possibility of another 200+ yard game right now.
I just traded my backup TE, Martellus Bennet for Steven Jackson, did I get a fair trade?
Absolutely. At worst, you got a No. 2 RB for a part you're not using right now. That's exactly the type of trade you should be making.
Streaming Defense for Week 12?
Not sure who is on your waiver wire, but Rams, Carolina, Cincy all in the mix.
I am a Foster owner. I am concerned that he may get benched in the fantasy playoffs due to the Texans resting starters. Should i look to trade him? I have a pending offer where I would trade foster and steve smith and get doug martin and cruz.
Fear over Foster being rested late was the reason I had him behind Rice in my preseason list. I think the concern is probably a bit overblown, but if you can make that deal you have to pull the trigger. Cruz should be better than Smith, and Martin is not likely to get any rest in Week 15-17.
I'm considering offering C. Newton & Jamaal Charles for M. Lynch
Assuming you have a solid QB in place to take that spot, I do it. JC has been underwhelming and I don't foresee the KC offense suddenly having a huge turnaround.
Which QB this week; Eli, Dalton, or Kaepernick if he plays?
Dalton for the win.
I have DMC, DeMarco Murray, and I did have Willis McGahee( just dropped him). Who is a good RB to trade for? I want to give up Amendola and Shorts but I don't know who I should get in return.
Oliver, the other owners in your league are looking at you right now and they know you're in a heap of trouble. They are unlikely to give you what you need. I think you may be able to swing BJGE, but to expect more when in a position of weakness? It's just not going to happen.
AJ, what sort of value do you see Hernandez taking on with Gronk out for a while?
I think he's going to have the same kind of value he did when the pair were both healthy. If anyone sees more value, it's Edelman and Woodhead.
Pending trade. I give up Leshoure and Fitzgerald for Alfred Morris and Antonio Brown. What do you think AJ?
I'd do that deal. Brown probably comes back at latest Week 14, and likely sooner, by which time Big Ben could also be back.
What are your thoughts on the veto? If a trade that is reasonable gets veto'd due to competitive strategy of other owners not wanting a team close to them getting better, should the Commissioner step in and push the trade through?
No, if the league votes to veto, then it is vetoed. Commish should never override. What the Commish should have done is set up a league where there are no veto votes in the first place.
Trade veto question: I got a trade vetoed for being biased in my favor and am wondering if I'm justified in being mad about it. I traded Freeman and Amendola for Sproles and Chicago D. The guy I traded with has Big Ben injured and Rivers as his backup. He also has Houston's D. Is the trade unfairly biased towards me and should it have been vetoed? Also, would you make the similar trade of Freeman and Amendola for Sproles and Houston?
To piggyback on the last question... this is another case for not having veto votes. Why would anyone veto a deal that makes sense for both teams other than for selfish reasons?
Gronk was a huge producer for my team and now is out for rest of regular season. I need to pick up a few wins to make playoffs. Thoughts on R Rice for J Graham and E Decker?
I'm assuming that you'll have some RB to step in. If Graham "covers" Gronk, then the dropoff from Rice to the RB you'll be starting has to be less than the difference between Graham and who you can get off the wire.
Who has better value at this point, Reggie Bush or Steven Jackson?
Jackson. I think having D-Rich around has kept him fresher than normal and while his schedule is tough from this point on, that extra rest should allow him to continue to produce.
AJ, If I can't get Hillman, who should be my backup waiver claim: Beanie, Parmele, or Bryce Brown?
I'd go with Beanie, because he's the likeliest to both play this week as well as in the weeks to come.
Trade help! Graham and Forte for Foster and Nelson? Gates would be my TE.
I'd make that deal.
Drop Lloyd for Danario?
I think I would. Had Gronk not been injured, I wouldn't have hesitated. It's a question of upside, and right now, Alexander has more.
Take out Hilton's three big games and he's been underwhelming... is he worth adding in a PPR?
But we're talking two of his last three being solid, and Avery's concussion makes it likely that we'll have 3 of 4. Luck will continue to look his way.
Can trade one of the three....Cruz, Welker, or Cobb....who would you part with?
Again, who you would rather part with is not always the same as who you'd get the most in return for... and in many of these cases where you've got a trio to choose from, it's the No. 2 guy who ends up being the best one to deal. Personally, I'd rather trade Cruz, but may get more for Cobb.
Thoughts on trading Ridley for Graham. Is it fair? I lost Gronkowski. I have Richardson, FJax and Ballard and my best three options without Ridley.
Define fair. Graham best TE who isn't currently injured. Ridley has scored more points and is a No. 1 RB. So yes, it's fair. But if you can get a Myers or Chandler on the wire or via a trade that costs you less, that might be better for you.
Is the shine starting to come off of Matt Ryan? Just traded for him as a Vick owner but am somewhat concerned with his recent performances.
Well, it's hard to judge him with Julio hurting last week. Other than that, I find it hard to believe you'd see him as having poor recent performances - plural.
Big fan of How Fantasy Sports Explains the world. I'm officially out of playoff contention in my 12-team standard scoring keeper league (1 keeper). Would you be content with any of these keeper options heading into 2013: Cam, MJD, Mathews, Alf, Calvin, Cruz? Or should I be targeting the playoff-bound owners of Foster, R.Rice, McCoy, D.Martin or T.Rich with a lucrative offer?
Thanks for the kind words on the book... for those teams out of the playoffs, if you can swing a deal for a sure No. 1 keeper like Foster or Martin without paying too much, I'd do it.
Is Shiancoe worth a prospective add this week? Brady loves his TEs...
He does, but if I had to pick one non-Hernandez one to have a big day, it would be Hoomananawannanananannananannui.
Considering trading to get Dalton. I have Eli and Fitzpatrick. Is it worth trying to get dalton?
I think it is worth it, but only if it costs you little. The gain from Eli to Andy should Manning get back to "normal" production is not all that great, but given the chance Eli struggles, I'd rather turn to Andy than Ryan.
Would you trade Brady, Sproles and Chandler for Ray Rice, Gates and Rivers?
No. Drop off to Rivers from Brady far outweighs the gain, IMO.
does larod have any chance of keeping the starting job over beanie? not sure how arizona can ignore lsh's last game
I don't believe Arizona thinks Hyphen can handle the workload. His frame just isn't built for it.
Just traded Michael Turner and Randall Cobb for Alfred Morris and Malcolm Floyd, good trade?
I think so. Turner's not exactly lighting the world on fire anymore and Morris should be able to best him on a weekly basis. Once Jennings returns to GB, Cobb could see his value drop to Floyd's level.
That's the whistle, my friends. Thanks to all who asked questions. If I didn't get to you, I am on Twitter (@ajmass) and check in often. Until the next time, enjoy the turkey! Good luck and may the odds be EVER in your favor.
