OK - How many of you were dogged in fantasy last night after the unexpected poor performance of your starters? Miraculously, I opted to bench Sproles. Just didn't have a good feeling...
How healthy is Nicks? Should I start him over Cobb?
Zack: I like the way Nicks' health is progressing (of course, no secret that I have been confident in him for a while, including before he was actually productive) but I think now is the time to start him. More targets than Cruz last week and I think that happens again this week. Big Monday night game.
danny amendola question for you: back in the walking boot. this is standard operating procedure, right? stabliize the injury to help it heal faster? or did he suffer a setback? what are the chances he's back to 100% for my playoffs weeks 14-16? thanks!
Tim: The boot could simply be protective, as in he's still injured so you protect the area as much as possible during the week and hope you can take it off and let him loose later. That said, don't expect him to be 100% this week and without knowing just how severe the injury is, it's hard to project. Fisher just said it's going to take him a while to heal, making you wonder if he will be fully healthy prior to end of season.
Jax WRs. Just a day off or reason for concern to be added to the injury report mid-week?
Joe: Not clear. FL Times-Union reports they were present at practice, watching. But both guys added to report late in week (makes you think something happened during Weds practice) - it's either a be cautious and give them a day of rest approach...or it's more sinister. No word yet on what they're doing today, but obviously that now becomes critical.
Hey Stephania! Will McCoy and Murray be healthy enough in a week to put up some numbers for me in the playoffs? Thanks!
Josh: Well, you should get your first glimpse of Murray this weekend and then will be able to help you evaluate that. It certainly sounds like they plan to have him play but I'll admit to being a little skeptical until we see him run in a game situation and see how he looks. As for McCoy, it's just one day to the next with these concussion issues. Have to at least put out there that you can't count on him. He sounds as if he's still early in the recovery process.
Jimmy Graham killed me yesterday. It hurts even more since my opponent had Matt Bryant and this is our playoffs. Whats Forte's status looking like for Sunday. Seems like he'll play but is he going to be limited? Would you start him over BJGE Cecil Shorts, or dare I even say Vincent Jackson?
Malek: Hear you...and based on my Twitter feed, you are not alone. I do think Forte plays. He was very confident about his status. Interesting question. I expect they use Bush as well but if you go back to the last time Forte returned from injury (and he appeared more questionable at that time), he still got the bulk of the touches. Not great matchup though either against Seahawks. If Shorts looks healthy by end of today, I'd go Shorts and VJax.
It sounds like Greg Jennings deemed himself 100% and ready to explode. However, GB seems to be a bit wishy-washy, saying he could be on a snap count or limited, even. Start him or play it safe with R.Broyles?
Jeff: He did. And he was pushing to play last week so he's eager. Thought it was wise for everyone that they rested him one more week and got him a week of full practices. I hear the idea of him being limited and I wouldn't be surprised if they "plan" that way in the event he shows fatigue. But we've seen other teams talk snap count, then go away from it if they like what they see. I don't count on him being limited but acknowledge that you also can't count on playing every snap. I still think he gets a couple big passes, possibly a score. I lean to Jennings.
any updates on Harvin? Seems like he's not gonna play this sun.
Drew: Pretty simply, it does seem that way. Nothing encouraging coming out of MN as of yesterday, esp not practicing Thurs after trying to do a little work Wednesday.
Hey Stephania, love your work. That said, please don't interview MJD in the near future, I need him for fantasy playoffs! Seriously though, we haven't heard much and I'm guessing you haven't either but prove me wrong? % chance he will he be back weeks 15/16?
Loren: Thank you...and don't worry, no plans to talk to him in the immediate futrure. Remember several weeks ago when he said he'd be back in 2 weeks? Foot injuries always hard to gauge. And he's not practicing. So while he could be back in 2 weeks, I'm not willing to give it more than a 50% shot.
Any news on Gronk? Odds of being back week 15?
Patrick: No news offered by Patriots. And I don't think we'll hear anything until it's the week he potentially returns (the soonest in my estimation is Week 15). No need for them to update until he's back in practice and he won't do that until they see enough healing to be comfortable with him out there.
Any news on Hernandez and his limited practice this week?
Stephen: While we're on Pats tight ends...I am not worried. Think they're wisely keeping him on the limited practice schedule. THought he looked decent in his Thanksgiving outing and then has had a nice extra bit of time before this week's game.
I have a lot of rb injuries. Which 3 of these rbs would you play? Leshoure, Ridley, Forte, and McFadden?
Wes: All but the one named McFadden. I do expect him back but the Raiders not shy about announcing they expect Reece to remain heavily involved. It's raining cats and dogs in the Bay Area so conditions could be less than ideal.
As a 49'ers fan, what are your thoughts on Harbaugh's decision regarding colin/smith? Looks like DMC will be playing Sunday? Since Brees & R. White laid a big egg for me last night, do I roll the dice with Reese in a PPR or stick w/ the Law Frim?
Ice44: Well, I trust Harbaugh. That's my feeling. Don't think this decision comes easily and is fraught with potential problems, but he's shown he knows a thing or two about quarterbacks. So I'm going to go with that. I like Reece especially in PPR.
Any word on Julien Edelman? Yes, I'm in a deep league.
Chris: Maybe so, but Edelman has delivered some pretty good points of late. All I can tell you is he's practicing on a limited basis, good sign coming off concussion. I presume he is still awaiting final clearance to return to play so don't count on him just yet.
After eating a raw Goose Egg for Thanksgiving courtesy of Miles Austin, I am a bit hesitant on relying on him this Sunday night. Your thoughts on his injury(s)? Thank you!
Jay: He did it to me too...and as a result, I am also hesitant. I don't think he will be 100% but right now I think it does look like he will play. Soooo...just to give you a hint of how I feel, I picked up Ryan Broyles who I plan to start instead (unless I change my mind last minute).
Should I be concerned about Garcon this week? In a PPR league I'm trying to decide whether to use him or Ryan Broyles in my Flex. Thanks :)
Jason: Ultimate risk/reqard. Garcon and the Redskins not shying away from the fact he is not fully healthy. The hope is that he will be able to ride out the toe thing and continue to be productive. We saw what he can do when that happens (last week) but there's always the risk it flares up suddenly. So, risk/reward.
Should I drop Harvin yet and try to get someone else from what you said earlier I don't know if he will be back next week the first week of our playoffs and its going to be win or go home at that point, Blackmon Rice, Sanu, Lafell, Givens are all available even through none of them are on Harvin's level when he's healthy?
Scott: Hello and thank you...I would not drop Harvin, simple as that. Despite the fact his progress has been discouraging, when he does come back (which very well could be for fantasy playoffs), he can deliver. So I would keep him.
Any word on Owen Daniels? Still being limited at practice, and minus the TD last week would have been awful for him..
Tom: Don't think the back issue is completely behind him but it's also not enough to keep him off thhe field. Like him against the Titans this week.
Stephania, I have Garcon, A. Brown or Fitz at flex... are the injury risks of the first 2 enough to justify giving Fitz and his "Quarterback" another shot? Thanks!
Brian: Wow, how has it gotten so bad that we think about benching Fitz? But we have to! Still, given your options I probably take the risk and hope for the reward on Garcon. Not sure I'm comfortable with Brown in his first game back with Batch at QB against the Ravens. So prob go with Fitz at #2. Ugh.
Who do you like better at flex? Moreno or Danario?
with Amendola hurt, do you think I should play Givens over Lafell and M.Lewis for my flex play.. thanks
Devin: I'd keep Lafell in against KC. Not sure I'd trust Givens against 49ers D. Know you can pass some on them but that's still where I'd go.
tough decision here in a must win. If big ben does not play, do you still start dwyer? i have moreno and matthews and have to start 2 out of the 3
Nick: I like Dwyer, especially after he gets the vote of confidence from Tomlin. He's a powerful back so I like his chances, even against the Ravens with Batch at QB (which is what I expect to happen). I start Dwyer over Moreno.
Hi Stephania- Carson Palmer's thumb- anything to worry about?
Chip: Never like to see a QB thumb bothering him but I don't get the sense there is a lot of alarm in Oakland. So, not worried yet.
Hi Stephania! Any news on Wells? I know he is hurting all the time, but any more than usual?
Chris: Not more than usual, I don't believe. Listed on the report because of his knee, may just reflect a chance for him to rest after his first week back in an NFL game.
Time for me to run. Have a great weekend and good luck in Week 13!! Hope you get into that fantasy football playoff bracket!
