Good morning, gang! We've got ourselves sixty minutes of fantasy chattage as many leagues head into the post-season. Second cup of coffee is in hand. Who is up first?
What are your thoughts on Dwyer going forward based on what you saw this week? Lead back or part of a committee still?
I think he did enough to keep the majority share of a two-back system with Ike. No more, no less.
I need a RB. What do you think of Montell Owens this week?
Desperate times call for desperate measures. Owens was that low on the depth charts for a reason... can he get 70 and a score? Sure, it's possible. Better than a goose egg? Yes. But Felicity Huffman could be given 20 carries and she'd be a better start than a goose egg.
Marcel Reese era over?
Still going to get 4-6 catches a game, so in PPR-leagues there's value. But with DMC and Goodson both possibly back this week? Carries will be few and far between.
Do you think James Jones will put up the same numbers hes been putting up all season with Greg Jennings back now?
Given the injury to Jordy, I think we're giving Jones a little leeway to continue what he's been doing. I do think if all were healthy, Jones is the one who suffers most.
So, Bryce Brown. What are the odds he's still at least Flex relevant if McCoy comes back, if he comes back at all?
I think he remains flex-worthy if and when Shady returns... but the Eagles have no reason to rush that process along.
Does Wallace bounce back this week if Big Ben plays? Otherwise I have to go with the likes of Bowe or Wright in the first week of the playoffs...
I think the only way Wallace bounces back is if Ben plays, and my gut says he will.
When you're in a must win situation, do you stick with guys like Ryan Mathews and Ridley in tough matchups or grab someone like Powell who has a potential monster matchup coming up?
I think you always want to start your best possible lineup. You never "play to lose". Matchups should only enter into the mix when it's close, and to me, it's always "touches" that tip the scales. That said - with Powell expected to get 10-12 touches and Mathews coming off a 9 carry week... this is one case where it's not the craziest idea.
Fred Jackson had more touches and yards than Spiller, does this continue ROS?
I don't think so... I think the weather changed the game plan for Chan. I'd expect Spiller to do more this week and going forward.
AJ - just lost Dustin Keller in my AFC-only league. Moeaki, Cook or Mercedes Lewis for ROS?
What I've heard on Keller is that it is not high-ankle, so he may well be back sooner rather than later. That said, I'd go Lewis as my replacement. Jags may use the TE short pass in lieu of handoffs to Owens.
Is Fitz ever going to be usable again? Other options are Stevie Johnson and Britt.
Not with Lindley at QB... If Kolb can back under center, I still think there's value to be mined there.
What are your thoughts on Alshon Jeffrey?
Good young receiver who benefits greatly from having Marshall get all the defensive attention. As long as he is healthy, he's in the flex mix.
Ethics Q..I'm commish and I set up the league with the agreed settings...head-to-head record was the tiebreaker..well we had a 3 way tie for the last playoff spot...I lost twice to team A, Team A lost twice to Team B, and I had split with Team B but had more overall points than everyone...assuming total points is the 2nd tiebreaker, was i right to get in? ESPN put me in as the 6 seed...
Head-to-head, if we look at record alone, means Team B at 3-1 gets in.
Any particular strategies you try to deploy when you have a bye? I have one this week with playoffs week 15 & 16.
In my leagues, I lock rosters once playoff start, so there is nothing to do on a bye. I like the idea of giving teams with a bye an extra advantage of starting a lineup on this bye week and allowing them to carry that score into the next week, if it is the higher of the two as an added "home field advantage." But in terms of waiver moves? Your team is your team for a reason. Don't tinker too much.
Eli or Dalton, standard scoring?
I'm going Eli this week.
Start Brady vs. Houston or Ryan vs. Carolina?
HELP, can only start TWO RBs: Foster, Murray, Bryce, Sjax!
This week, I'm starting Foster and S. Jackson.
Thats pathetic. He gets to pick which of the 2 weeks to start during his bye week? That is the most unfair rule you can have. Thats like saying, I want to use my week 2 high score to the opponent that beat me in week 8. Your losing your marbles AJ.
Ron, you don't have to use the rule. It's an option. Some leagues give "home field advantage" points. Some leagues award tie-breaker to higher seed. It's an option that the team with a bye gets two rolls of the dice instead of one... an earned reward.
.4 points.....4 points I lost my game last night and thus missed the playoffs. Words of encouragement?
Hope springs eternal... could there be a stat correction in your favor in the next few hours?
Please rank these defenses for this week SEA, MIA and BALT?
Seattle, Baltimore, Miami
How concerned are you about Decker going forward?
A lot of Decker questions. He's a hit-or-miss guy and with Stokley out, it changes the look and flow of the offense enough to matter. Concerned? Not really, but my expectations were never that high.
Is Jennings and Parmele going down a good thing for MJD owners? I hear the Jags want to finish the season strong and bring him back, even if its just the last 2 games.
I don't think it matters at all. MJD was either going to get the call or not, irregardless of the performance in front of him. I think he plays late if only to showcase him for a possible future trade.
Best play this week. Gordon vs Chiefs, Givens vs Rams, Garcon vs Baltimore?
Goodness gracious, go get Givens.
If MJD plays, do you expect a solid number of touches?
To be clear, I do not think MJD plays this week... that prior answer was more for Weeks 16-17.
ROS Shorts or Givens?
Shorts, assuming he can get cleared for play. Concussions, as we've seen in Philly, can be tricky to shake.
Minnesota or Browns D
Both solid options, I lean Vikings.
Irregardless is not a word.
Actually, yes it is. And I chose to use it because these chats should be informal... but I'm sure I'm gonna get grief irregardless.
Bad playoff QB choices....Rivers, Palmer or RWilson??
Totally agree with the sentiment there. Bad choices for fantasy. Of the trio, I'd go with Carson.
Would you go with Gates or Olsen in ppr this week?
Gates, but it's not a choice I love. Rivers does find ways to self-destruct, doesn't he?
Bengals or Falcons D?
I think I'm going to put in a new rule this year that the person who has the most points sitting on the bench this week gets a prize. I'm sure everyone has that week in which all the players on their bench score tons.
In theory, do I like? Yes. In practice, I don't. Some teams will have less points on bench simply because they have handcuffs versus viable starters - and then what do you do on bye weeks? You may simply be rewarding the team who simply has fewest players on bye.
Earlier you picked Sjax this week over Bryce. Please explain since McCoy might sit another week?
I think McCoy definitely sits. Hey, I like Brown, but when exactly did he become Arian Foster? He faces TB while Jackson gets Buffalo. Both should have very good days. If I had my choice, I go S-Jax.
Roll with HOU D @NE or go with Indy or Jax this week?
I can understand the impulse to go with Colts or Jaguars, but I'm sticking with the Texans. Sometimes the Patriots actually do struggle offensively.
Stafford ok to start over Freeman despite the receiving corp mess in Detroit?
No. Losing Broyles at this point is too big a hit.
Do you think McElroy gets the ROS to show if he's NFL material? Not that it matters from a FF perspective, that teams a dumpster fire.
Assuming they make the move, they have to stick with it. I'm not convinced Ryan will choose that route, though. Could go either way.
I'll go Forte.
Brandon Meyers or Heath Miller PPR .5
Miller this week.
Kaepernick or Big Ben?
Colin for this week, and I am assuming Ben plays here.
Pick 2 RB's out of Mathews, Dwyer, Moreno, McFadden, Ridley???
Ridley and KnoMo
Hate to even ask this but Rogers or Luck?
Given the matchup this week, I go Luck.
If Harvin plays, I don't think he will, will he be starter material weeks 15-16 (Stl, Hou)?
If he plays, and I don't think he will this week... he is potentially flex worthy.
Can I start Avery and Wayne...cant start fitz again!!
Don't love the WR double-dip, but I do like Luck and with Lindley or Skelton, Fitz is useless.
Crabtree or D. Moore?
I'll go with the Tree.
Cam Newton or Russell Wilson this week? Thanks dude!
Cam for me.
NonPPR = Need a WR & FLEX Option out of this bunch -- Cruz @ NO, DezB @ Cincy, Bryce Brown @ TB, OR SJAX @ Bills?
Sit Victor, and get some fresh gauze for your eye.
Assuming Shorts is cleared pick one WR this week: Shorts, Decker, Stevie Johnson
Not willing to make that assumption, but I'll go Johnson.
Need 1 RB to go with Foster: CJ, Gore, or Bradshaw?
Any of the three works fine for me. I lean Ahmad.
Sproles or Lawfirm?
I'm not firing my attorney just yet.
Tate or Forsett...who is the Foster handcuff?
I think I'd go with Forsett if I had to pick one.
Any word on Amendola...struggling for WR with Jordy probably out.
We'll have to see how practices shake out starting tomorrow, but I'm not optimistic.
Rams, Jags, Cowboys or SD this week?
Ballard worth starting if Brown is out?
I have him at No. 23 on my RB list.
If Amendola isn't limited in practice are you starting him over Mike Williams?
Nope. Not this week. Freeman should eat Eagles alive.
That's the whistle, gang! Thanks for the Q's. If I couldn't get to yours, there's always Twitter (@ajmass) where I try to answer all. Irregardless, until the next time, good luck and may the odds be EVER in your favor.
