Jeff Dickerson
  (1:30 PM)

Hello from Halas Hall. Lovie Smith just wrapped up a brisk 12 minute press conference, so let's talk some Bears.

Reggie (work)

Hey JD, long time listener, first time caller. I'm trying to find the positives from yesterday's game. Any thoughts? I'll hang up and listen to your answer.

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:30 PM)

1. Jay Cutler 2. Brandon Marshall

Mike (Michigan)

I love the Jay Cutler show on Waddle and Silvy,. Is that just a one time thing this year or could we possibly get another year of it next year?

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:32 PM)

I don't make that call, but it sounds as if Cutler has enjoyed his time with the two guys this season. I'd say a second year of the Jay Cutler Show is not out of the question.

JJ (Huntington Beach, CA)

JD, correct me if I'm wrong, but 11-5 or 10-6 is a good thing, no? Playoffs are still in the picture I take it.

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:33 PM)

Of course. Bears are very much in the mix for the playoffs. But given their history vs. the Packers, it would be a good idea to win this weekend in Minnesota.

Dr. Obvious (Soldier Field)

I'm sure Earl's high-flying acrobatic touchdown heavily concussed him. How come he stayed in the game as long as he did?

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:35 PM)

At first, I thought Bennett got the concussion on the touchdown. But now I'm not 100% sure. If you watch the replay closely on the ball Bennett dropped down the field, a Seahawks defender came down on Bennett's head and drove it into the turf as he fell to the ground. That could have been it.

ryan (here)

Any updates on the injury front?

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:37 PM)

It's going to be touch and go this week with Urlacher and his pulled hamstring. That usually knocks a game out for at least a game. We'll see if he feels better later in the week. Jennings' shoulder injury isn't believed to be a season-ender, but I don't know if he will be ready for the Vikings. Good news is that Alshon Jeffery should be back this week.

Jim (Philadelphia, PA)

If the Bears fail to make the playoffs does Lovie lose his job?

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:38 PM)

If the Bears fail to make the playoffs, that would be 5 of the last 6 years. How can an NFL head coach keep his job if that happens? But I think the Bears will make the postseason. They might get bounced in the first round, but I think they make it.

Joe Teske (Bolingbrook, IL)

Jeff, What are the chances the Bears acquire a COUPLE decent Offensive Linemen in the off season?

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:39 PM)

They better make it happen because the offensive line is not very good. That needs to be priority No. 1 in the offseason.

Joe B (Oxford, CT)

Would you agree Conte's absence was noticeable? Steltz did not appear to have a strong game.

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:41 PM)

I noticed Steltz got beat one-time in coverage but Wilson threw a bad ball and it fell incomplete. Besides that, I thought he played okay.

Kyle (Ohio)

Is J'Marcus Webb someone that the Bears will look to replace in the offseason, or has he played well enough to go into next season as the LT?

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:42 PM)

If the Bears want to improve their line, they find a better LT than Webb. Let Webb play RT. Or get rid of him. I'm good either way. But they need a new LT and LG at the bare minimum.

Dan (Boston)

Any chance Bennet and/or Alshon play next week?

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:43 PM)

I think Jeffery plays this week. Not so sure about Bennett. Three players have suffered concussions for the Bears this year and they have all missed at least one game.

Conrad (Canada)

The Bears are 0-3 against teams currently in NFC playoff position and are 1-4 against teams currently in playoff position in the NFL. How big a problem is this?

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:45 PM)

It's a problem. That's why I'm not so sure how the Bears would stack up versus teams like the Giants or 49ers in the playoffs.

B Urlacher (Still Looking for R. Wilson)

Are the Bears going to extend me or let me walk? I looked slowed trying to contain Russel Wilson late in the game.

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:46 PM)

I'd bring Urlacher back on a 1-year deal. But I'd still draft a middle linebacker at some point just in case.

Eric (GE)

Jeff, love the work keep it up. The Bears D for the first time all season lost it down the stretch. How much of that can be contributed to energy/being tired versus the injuries down the stretch?

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:48 PM)

I feel like nagging injuries to Briggs, Tillman, Urlacher and Peppers probably hurt. But let's give Russell Wilson some credit. He was lights out. His ability to make plays with his feet was the deciding factor. Excellent player and a steal in the 3rd round, it turns out.

Lovie S (Halas Hall)

Any suggestions on how to keep AP from doing what he did against the Packers?

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:49 PM)

Tackle.

Jay Cutler (Chi-Town)

Any chance Denver doesn't tag Clady or the saints with Jermon Bushrod and i can have one of them protecting my blind side?

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:49 PM)

You can only hope.

Kellen (CPDB)

Who's Miking if Urlacher's out?

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:49 PM)

Nick Roach at MLB,Geno Hayes at SLB....if Urlacher can't play on Sunday.

Jammy (NYC)

Do you think someone like JT thomas wouldve had an advantage covering the read option, being young and having demonstrated some decent closing speed?

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:51 PM)

That's a very interesting observation, Jammy. I'm not sure if they trust J.T. Thomas enough to put him in a game on defense at this point of his career. He's doing a nice job on special teams, however. But that defense was searching from some fresh legs yesterday late in the game. They never found him.

Zac (Sterling)

Are you listening to the Cutler Show as you do this? Do you make it a point to listen to it every week?

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:52 PM)

I try. But I'm at Halas Hall covering the Lovie Smith press conference and doing the chat at 12:30. Kind of tough to juggle all three but I make sure to check out Michael Wright's tweets.

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:54 PM)

As for my twitter account, we have an editor that listens to the show and tweets it out from @espnchibears when I can't listen due to the chat/Lovie, etc.

spanky (CT)

i thought bears d line was awful. absolutely failed to contain on those read options.

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:55 PM)

Agreed. Plus, they let Wilson scramble outside of the pocket a couple of times to pick up important first downs.

chitown [via mobile]

With the wr postion becoming thin any chance we sign a free agent like mike sims walker or maybe bring a guy up from the practice squad ?

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:56 PM)

Lovie Smith said the Bears are not expected to sign another free agent WR.

Lee (Northbrook)

also saw the Bennet hit after the drop ball and totally agree with you

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:57 PM)

I think that could have done it. They went to Bennett one more time down the sideline after the drop and it was incomplete. Then we never saw him again.

Gabe (cubicle city)

Does Carimi play RG next season? What is our first pick in the draft OT/LB/CB

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:58 PM)

Lance Louis is hopefully the Bears RG next year, although his contract is set to expire after the season. Maybe Carimi can compete at LG or be the swing tackle.

Dan (IL)

Don't you have to hold Urlacher out this game to let him heal? We will need that hamstring fully healed for the Packers if possible.

Jeff Dickerson
  (1:59 PM)

I'm not even sure Urlacher wil be able to run well enough to play on Sunday. So that decision might take care of itself.

Ryan (Indianapolis)

Working in an Office in Downtown Indianapolis kills the spirit of a bears fan. Everywhere I turn its Luck this Luck that, Colts to make the playoffs, Luck number 1 QB. I know expectations where different, but everyone on ESPN loves the colts....yet they haven't won against a team with a winning record and are 8-4. Everyone on espn puts down the bears, saying they aren't playoff ready, yet they are 8-4. Why does chicago get such a bad rep, either we are SUPERBOWL BEARS, or we are losers that are going to be out first round.

Jeff Dickerson
  (2:00 PM)

People love the underdog. And being in such a big market, the Bears will never be an underdog. People expect the charter franchise of the NFL to win, and when they don't, all hell breaks loose.

Jeff Dickerson
  (2:01 PM)

Thank you everybody. Have a great rest of your day.
