Chat with Jamison Hensley

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:01 PM)

Thanks for joining the chat. I will try to answer as many questions as possible during the half hour that we have together. Let's start.

James nc [via mobile]

Hi jamison, hope my question makes it this tlme, but now that ps gettin healthy and lookin at ravens/steelers schedules, i think its possible the steelers could actually steal the division.what do you think?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:02 PM)

The Steelers do have the easier schedule than the Ravens over the last four games. I don't think it's enough to make up two games on Ravens. But it certainly has gotten a lot more interesting.

Allen (Hometown)

Three game winstreak for the browns?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:03 PM)

You know things are going well when the Browns are expected to win. The Browns can't let all of this momentum come to a halt against Brady Quinn, right?

RaveninDenver (Definitely not Denver)

Redskins / Ravens this weekend. In my humble opinion, it's going to come down to which Joe Flacco we get. I think it's going to be a shootout, both offenses have the potential to put up serious points. Neither D is considered "good" by a lot of experts. Even more so if Suggs is out. How d you think the match up this weekend is going to look JH?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:05 PM)

The key is how the Ravens defense does against RG3's play action and whether Baltimore decides to give the ball to Ray Rice. Bradshaw got yards in chunks against Redskins on Monday night.

Sheff (DC)

I understand why Tomlin made Mendenhall the third string back, but isn't it risky not to dress him? If Redman or Dwyer gets injured, they could run into problems quickly and Mendenhall has some great talent to not dress.

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:06 PM)

You need the backups to be able to play on special teams. Mendenhall isn't going to do that. You can't think in terms of the top two running backs getting injured. The chances of both getting knocked out in the same game is low, and the Steelers still have Rainey.

Thomas (Houston)

Any update on Woodley?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:06 PM)

Tomlin called him questionable for this week.

Aaron (Cleveland)

Jamison- Now that Josh Gordon has had time to adjust after sitting out of football, how would you evaluate the choice to give up a decently early 2nd round pick? Are you confident in Greg Little's ability to continue to grow into a #2 WR?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:08 PM)

I believe the Browns got better value with Gordon than Richardson and Weeden. Gordon is looking like a first-round talent and Cleveland got him for a second-round pick. The Browns would do that again in a second. As for Little, he's an average No. 2. But he still has room to grow.

Adam (DC)

Realistically the Steelers would have to win out and the Ravens would have to go 2-2 for them to win the division. Should Tomlin take that into consideration when determining to play Ben this weekend knowing the division is likely out of reach? (Note the emphasis on should because he obviously will not)

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:10 PM)

Whether or not the division is still in reach is debatable, but the Steelers are far from a lock to get into the playoffs. It's a three-team race with the Steelers, Colts and Bengals. Pittsburgh has to be in must-win mode for the rest of the season.

Collin (Columbus)

Do you think it's possible the Browns could go 8-8 this season? I know it's a long shot, but I'm being optimistic.

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:12 PM)

The Browns end the season at Denver and Pittsburgh. They're not getting to eight wins.

Zach (Philadelphia)

Do you see any scenario (like winning at least 3 of the last 4 games or sweeping the Steelers) where Shurmur keeps his job? I know you said it has been decided already, but can he change their minds?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:14 PM)

There are some who believe Shurmur could return if the Browns finished at 8-8. I just don't see it. Haslam and Banner are looking to clean house by all appearances.

E (Cincinnati)

What do you believe is the #1 need for the Browns on offense and defense respectively?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:15 PM)

Browns defense: Pass rusher. Browns offense: wide receivers (even with Gordon stepping up).

Corey (Fantasy Land)

Crazy talk if Stillers n Ravens meet again in the playoffs for round 3...just sayin!

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:16 PM)

If season ended today, it would be Pittsburgh at Baltimore for the first round. Ravens have a chance to get back up to the No. 2 seed if they beat Denver in a couple of weeks.

Ramon (Wilmington, Ohio.)

Hello Jamison, Which player from each AFCN team would you say has surprised you the most with they're play this season. Both positive and negetive if you have the time. Thanks

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:18 PM)

Top surprising players ... Sanu for Bengals, Billy Winn for Browns, Paul Kruger for Ravens and Jonathan Dwyer for Steelers.

Phat1963 (Cincinnati)

AFCN Rookie of the year at this point in the season? And who are your candidates?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:20 PM)

Trent Richardson, and it's not close. He gets it over Weeden and Burfict.

Jesse (Erie, PA)

Can us Steelers fans finally be proud of Shaun Suisham after this great season he is having?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:20 PM)

Actually, Suisham could have been my most surprising player. I thought it was a mistake for the Steelers to stick with him after a below average season in 2011. But he's a big reason why the Steelers are in the playoff hunt.

Andrew (Cleveland)

What has Mike Lombardi ever done to even be mentioned as a potential GM hire in Cleveland?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:21 PM)

He worked with Belichick. But Belichick didn't hire him in New England, which says something.

Greg (Pittsburgh)

Does Heath Miller finally make the Pro Bowl this year?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:22 PM)

With Gronkowski hurt, that should help his chances. Miller has certainly had a Pro Bowl season.

Cory (Newberry)

What!?! Why no love for Kevin Zeitler? He is already a top RG and has been from day 1

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:22 PM)

Name me the last lineman who won a rookie of the year award.

Ryan (Cleveland)

Any word on the Steelers starting line or Decastro coming back?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:24 PM)

Haven't heard a word. He was active last Sunday. That's a step in the right direction.

Chris (Las Vegas)

Perentage you think Big Ben plays this week?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:24 PM)

I think he'll be listed as probable. So, I think that's 75 percent.

Dave (Baltimore)

JH,Do you think this may be Cam Cameron's last year in Baltimore and who do you feel would be a potential coach for Cleveland next year

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:27 PM)

I know there is a lot of frustration with how the offense has fared this season. The Ravens are ranked 19th in offense right now. But they keep going to the playoffs and they're in the top 10 in scoring. Harbaugh and Cameron go way back, so I think Cameron sticks around unless Bisciotti decides to step in.

envirosinger (Cleveland)

Percentage that Cam gives Rice one touch in the 4th quarter this week?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:27 PM)

Depends if Cameron is starting Rice on his fantasy team that week.

Corey (Fantasy Land)

Name your ProBowl linebacking core of the AFCN

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:27 PM)

It has to start with Lawrence Timmons. No question about that.

Leagion of Meese (City of Champs)

Do you think the Bengals have to beat both the Steelers and Ravens to make the playoffs or just one of them. If it's the Ravens they beat will the Steelers make the playoffs?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:29 PM)

The biggest game left on the Bengals' schedule is the one at Pittsburgh.

Jamison Hensley (ESPN)
  (2:30 PM)

Thanks for all of the great questions. Sorry I couldn't get to them all. The Ravens just released a statement from Ray Lewis, so I have to blog about that. Talk to you next week.
