Matthew Berry
  (2:03 PM)

Hi gang. Thanks for stopping by. Let's get to it.

Carly (Hollister, CA)

What time are you going to post your love/hate column today?

Matthew Berry
  (2:05 PM)

It'll be up in a bit, I am sure. It's been submitted - still getinig edited / posted. Long one today, so takes time. For tonight: Love All the Broncos, obviously including Decker, who I have a gut feeling on. Also love Brandon Myers. Hate OAK RB and Denarious Moore

Mikey D. (So Cal (Laker Land!))

First, keep Gasol or trade him?Second, who are my top two flex players in a non PPR League?Deangelo WilliamsStevie JohnsonT.Y. HiltonD. AlexanderBrandon Myers

Matthew Berry
  (2:06 PM)

Wish they'd keep Gasol and lose D'Antoni but since that's a pipe dream, probably have to trade him if we can get some shooters. Bums me out tho. I like Hilton and Myers, actually.

Chris Martin (Quincy, Illinois)

Garcon or cruz

Matthew Berry
  (2:07 PM)

Reminder once again that questions like these can be answered just by looking at my rankings:

Joseph (College Station)

Strictly gut feelings and rankings aside, I am seriously CONSIDERING starting the high upside McFadden over the safe, conservative, K. Moreno... This is a must win game to get into the playoffs... Am I "woah woah....WOAH- crazy crazy?"

Matthew Berry
  (2:09 PM)

your team brother. Only answering this because I'll say in general... everyone should go with their own gut above anyone else. I wouldn't do it but it's not my team

Brandon (Bellefonte, PA)

Why all the love for Martellus Bennett, TMR? *in my best weasel voice* You're significantly higher than all the other rankers at 7th among TEs ... one good week against the WAS D , & you're sold?

Matthew Berry
  (2:10 PM)

Just think he's finally healthy and Saints have allowed four scores to opposing tight ends in the last four games.

Matthew Berry
  (2:11 PM)

That said, when ranks updates come out later, I will have Rudolph ahead of Bennett. Thought Harvin might give it a go this week.

vernon (pa)

2 QB league. Palmer & locker. RB's ..johnson, ridley and moreno. should I sit Palmer and start moreno?

Matthew Berry
  (2:11 PM)

No, in a 2 QB, you gotta start 2 QB. Palmer has good junk potential as always

Jack (White Plains)

Hi Matthew! I split a team with a giants fan, he wants to start Eli this week and I want to start Luck. Please be our tie breaker before I break him!

Matthew Berry
  (2:12 PM)

Eli has AVERAGED 13.5 fantasy pts a game this year. That's his average.

Nick (Lancaster, PA)

There was a special on SportsCenter on Monday where various analysts professed their amazement of RG3, but no love for Matthew Berry...what's the deal with that?

Matthew Berry
  (2:13 PM)

Outrageous. What are you gonna do? You guys know I was on board before it wa cool.

Benji (Titletown USA)

Ditch Amendola (WR Bench) to pickup Detroit's D against Arizona in week 15? Have the bears against my beloved packers which isn't a very good matchup. Then I would have the Bears at Arizona in week 16.

Matthew Berry
  (2:14 PM)

Would rather wait and see on Amendola - potential too high

Tony (maine)

I just got screwed out of my fantasy playoffs, the owner changed the tie breaker yesterday. He changed it from total points for to just top 3 from each division. Is that a tiebreaker you've heard of?#hard justice that isn't too hardPS I loved the podcast this year

Matthew Berry
  (2:15 PM)

You can't change a tiebreaker mid-season, regardless of reason. If it's set up like that, gotta keep it. Your commish is a weasel.

Greg (Boston)

How tough is losing Julian Edelman for the pats?

Matthew Berry
  (2:16 PM)

Helps Hernandez..

Enjoying (week 14 bye!)

Looking ahead to week 15 for a good plug-n-play defense to pickup before someone else does; which do you prefer: Bengals at Philly, Titans home against the Jets, or Lions at Arizona? I have the Broncos D now but am leary of starting them next week at Baltimore.... Thanks!

Matthew Berry
  (2:16 PM)

Bengals for me.

Brian (Philly)

TMR: About the rankings, any chance you could tell us what kind of players each of the other writers (and yourself) are? I think I've seen you mention a few times that you're a more risk averse fantasy player so wouldn't that mean you'd put more value in a guy like Gore and less in a guy like Charles? And, so, if we need an unusually big week to win in the playoffs it'd help to know who the less risk averse guys are since they'd probably rank homerun or bust guys higher than others. Unless, of course, you separate your personal playing style from your rankings...

Matthew Berry
  (2:20 PM)

I think all of us are fairly conservative in our play unless it is necessary to be risky. As for the ranks, I can tell you that Tristan and myself value match-ups more than the others, I think, Chris is much more talent based (less worried about matchups) and Eric is somewhere in the middle. But usually we're all in the same neighborhood.

Jake Lietzow (Athens Ohio)

Out of these 3 who has the highest upside this week, Garcon, Josh Gordon, Randall Cobb

Matthew Berry
  (2:20 PM)

rob (wisconsin)

who is better keeper league prospect for years to come. Freeman, Dalton, or Kapernick??

Matthew Berry
  (2:22 PM)

Dalton safest though I love Colin K. He'd be who I would roll the dice with, given Harbaugh's track record.

Scott (Northglenn, CO)

So the GF has her work's Christmas party I doing enough if I go and stare at my phone/TV if they have one and wtaching the Bronco game and oviously not being social whatsoever, or do I need to put in full effort?

Matthew Berry
  (2:24 PM)

Halfway in between. Ideally, you find a couple of guys she works with and all of you go watch the game - that way you can be like "Hey, come on honey, I was making friends." Depends on how cool the GF is, too. Otherwise, probably gotta full effort but frequent trips to bathroom / refill drinks / etc.

Nate (NJ)

Do you see Forsett starting a couple of games? Better investment pickup for round 2: Forsett or Gerhart?

Matthew Berry
  (2:24 PM)

Forsett. HOU could easily clich home field and decide to rest / only play Arain partially

Fred (Fellow Harvin owner :( ) (Jacksonville)

What should non-McCoy Bryce owners expect when/if LeSean returns?

Matthew Berry
  (2:25 PM)

Hard to say but there's no way he's going away fully. Maybe 10 touches a game for Brown if McCoy is healthy and playing. Brown would be a flex play

Jacob (Nebraska)

Hey TMR love your stuff. When you have several players ranked together, T.Y Hilton, Lance Moore, and Mike Williams, is it just a gut call? Out of those three who would be your gut call?

Matthew Berry
  (2:28 PM)

It's matchup, expected game flow outcome, other factors (injuries to defense, how hot/cold a guy has been) what kind of defense the other team plays, who else is in or out, overall talent of player, amount of risk involved and range of possible outcomes as some players are more steady and some are up and down. And then, of course, it's a little gut too. I consider every game and player - they take all day Tues for me to do.

Chris (Chicago)

You have Austin ahead of crabtree in your rankings. Does 0.5 ppr affect them at all?

Matthew Berry
  (2:29 PM)

Not enough to switch. Close tho - I do like Crab's matchup much better than Austin's, tho I think they concentrate on stopping Dez....I'd play Austin tho

Brian (CHI)

You were pretty low on Mike Wallace this week. Unfortunately, he may be my best option at flex over Beanie, D.Moore, Gordon. Do you agree?

Matthew Berry
  (2:32 PM)

Yes, if Ben plays. Although I do kinda like Gordon. He's the only one I'd consider - I have Gordon at 32, Wallace at 33 but that was before I knew Ben was playing for sure. Looks more positive that Ben will play

Sam (the rankings page)

i know your rankings. but ihave to start 2 of the following. eli luck freeman. why did you rank the way you did since they all have good matchups

Matthew Berry
  (2:37 PM)

All very close, obviously. Luck - crushes at home. Avg over 300 yards / gm. Great matchup.Freeman - also great matchup but has slowed down after a hot start. 15 pts last week, 10 the week before, hasn't throw 300 yards since Week 7. Needs the scores to be a fantasy stud - Martin running so well he may get two scores and then you're looking at 275 and 1 TD. I have him at 11, I like him this week a lot but that's why. Upside limited to me.Eli - avg just 13.5 pts per game. Saints held ATL in check last week and have had extra time to prep. More than 2 scores only 3 times all year. Also limited upside and I feel they do what they tried vs WSH - run a lot and try to control the clock to keep Brees on sideline like they did with RG3. Big game for Bradshaw coming I feel.

Chris (NY)

Humor those of us who didn't make the playoffs. Top 5 RB for next season: AP, Foster, Martin, Rice, and......?

Matthew Berry
  (2:39 PM)

Spiller if Jackson is gone or they commit to him full time. Otherwise, Richardson.

Justin (Denver)

Relationship advice. Talking with the GF about cohabitating. Have two kids that i share with the ex, and she has none. She currently doesn't spend the night the weeks i have the kids. Should we get the kids used to that before we take the full time plunge?

Matthew Berry
  (2:42 PM)

Yes. When I was dating my now wife, I'd come over for dinner and hang out with her and the kids but always leave and not stay over unless they were gone. Eveentually, they started asking... "Why isn't Matthew staying over? Can Matthew spend the night?" that sort of thing. Once they did that, I started too. They were like 10/11 and 8/9 and 5 at the time so depends on kids ages... but SLOW is always better with kids

Troy (NH)

Dwyer or Garcon in the flex? Or play both and put R. Matthews on the bench?

Matthew Berry
  (2:42 PM)

Mathews to the bench. Ugh

Bryant (gloucester, ma)

Im thinking about benching Decker for Leshoure in my flex spot, ppr league. Please talk me off the cliff

Matthew Berry
  (2:44 PM)

I get it. Leshoure hot. Decker cold. But just have a gut feeling Decker scores tonight. Nothing other than he's due and it's a great match-up. That's all I got. PPR obviously favors Decker as well. I'd go Decker but I understand why the hesitation. Go with your gut, brother.

Nick (Canton, Ohio)

Your Prediction/Thoughts on these guys playing this week with the injuries...Nelson, Shorts, Amendola. A guy just dropped Amendola in our PPR league. Im thinking about snatching him up. Would you? That means I would have to drop Shorts or Nelson. Should I? I also have Dez and Colston

Matthew Berry
  (2:45 PM)

Nelson - no. Amendola - no. Shorts - yes. Man, Amendola is tempting but no... given his injury history AND his history of leaving games early... I would not drop any of them for him unless we hear Jordy will be out for longer than we think.

Matt (MA)

Matthew - hook a fellow Matthew up! My league playoffs start this week and in a 14 team, 1 point-per-reception league, are you starting fred jax or brandon myers at flex?

Matthew Berry
  (2:46 PM)

Myers in a PPR. STL is a better D than they get credit for and despirte last week there's no guarantee on touches for F Jax

Matt (Houston)

First Christmas I'm married to my wife (we've been together for 6 years however). Does gift giving change now? Or do I still go all out and get things to try and "impress"?

Matthew Berry
  (2:46 PM)

You'll never go wrong trying to impress. If you can afford, I'd do it.

Really, you still think Forsett over Tate even when he comes back completely healthy?

Matthew Berry
  (2:47 PM)

Forsett has looked great to me... so yeah

Thea (Denver) [via mobile]

Hey Matthew Berry!! I just wanted to say thank you for your reactions to the Kansas City tragedy. I appreciate how you refused to comment on the fantasy impact it had. (confession time...fantasy was the first thing I thought of when I heard about it) doesn't it seem to you that fantasy players are bit...what's the word...hardened? Injuries can help us and isn't there something in us that jumps for joy when our opponents best player goes down with an injury? I've heard fantasy players cheering when a guy limps off the field and it makes me sick. These are PEOPLE!!! They aren't machines that can be fixed. We talk about ACL tears and hammy strains, and high ankle sprains and all that, and wonder if the guy will come back and help us win. Do we ever say, Man. I feel really sorry for that guy. That must hurt. I hope he recovers because I want HIM to be ok. Not my fantasy team. Anyway, that being said, thank you so much for speaking out against it. I love all that you do and keep it up!!

Matthew Berry
  (2:50 PM)

My tweets got insane that day, especially before I tweeted something. Lotta questions about Charles and whether this upgraded the CAR D. In addition to the tragedy, that was a depressing day for other reasons as well. Thanks for the words.

Mendel (fl)

I know you hate ranking questions, but this is more about your gut, as i need to win, but win big in order to squeak into the playoffs. I need to start 2: Dwyer, Torry Smith, A Brown josh gordon or Antonio Alexander.

Matthew Berry
  (2:50 PM)

If you're going for the fences, I'd say Torrey Smith and Josh Gordon have the best chances to have big crazy days.

Chris Givens (St. Louis)

If Danny boy plays, will I still get mine?

Matthew Berry
  (2:52 PM)

Yes... You're a deep threat - think Amendola helps you, actually. Oh, and I don't think you are really Chris Givens.

Perry (Baltimore, MD)

I'm already the #1 seed. Any reason to hold Reece as my RB5; or drop for Danario Alexander, T.Y. Hilton, or Antonio Brown in a PPR League (I don't want someone using them against me in playoffs)?

Matthew Berry
  (2:53 PM)

Nope. I'd drop and grab one of them - rank them Hilton, DX, Brown

X-wife (Baltimore)

Tell Matt from Houston that changing things after marriage (like gift giving) is what leads to divorce. Woman's expectations don't change - we always want to be impressed. The "now that I have her I don't have to work any more" doesn't endear you to her!

Michael (Missouri)

ROS: James Jones or Mike Thomas

Matthew Berry
  (2:54 PM)

James Jones. Not close. Don't trust Thomas at all.

Mike (Los Angeles)

Please help TMR!! Ive sent 1000 messages, and you have yet to respond! :( I need your expertise! Romo or Stafford? and Torrey Smith or Michael Turner?!

Matthew Berry
  (2:55 PM)

I like Smith more if you need upside. Turner a safe bet for 8-10 points. Smith anywhere from 5 to 15. Depends what you need. QB question.. my ranks have that answer

Scientist who needs reasons (Kansas)

Can you explain the reasoning behind Forte having a lower ranking than Knowshon? Is Min D that good or Forte not running as well??

Matthew Berry
  (2:56 PM)

Forte struggled against MIN last time before leaving with injury, he doesn't get GL carries - getting a score like last week is hard to count that's why. I expect Moreno to get a lot of touches with a better matchup. That said, it's close obviously, so go with who you want.

Matthew Berry
  (2:57 PM)

Ok gang. Gotta run. Thanks for stopping by. Will try to answer more questions on Twitter and Facebook. Check my updated rankings tonight and tune into Fantasy Football Now this Sunday at 11am ET on ESPN2. GOOD LUCK!
