Good morning Friday chatters... Sorry for the delay, running a bit late in the studio taping...but here at last. Hopefully no one was too ruined by performances from last night in their fantasy playoffs..
Any word on Shorts? Would you avoid him even if he is active and play either James Jones or Gordon? Thanks.
Hi Sarah: He hasn't officially been ruled out but the concussion is likely to keep him out this weekend. So, I think there is bigger upside with Gordon. Clearly their go-to receiver. Has had a strong apst few weeks. That would be my choice.
Any word on Amendola? If he plays, should I roll with him over Fitzgerald and Josh Gordon?
Arthur: He's only had one limited practice since injuring his heel and that came yesterday. One would imagine that if he can do something again today he's likely to play but I would have very little confidence in him after he was forced out of the last game he started. I would not start him over the other two.
I think thats the correct diagnosis from Nate Ravitz' departure from yesterdays show :) With Hakeem Nicks fantasy production lacking, and not practicing yesterday....he is difficult "to believe in"...im benching him for TY Hilton, D. Alexander, or what are your thoughts on Blackmon if Shorts is ruled out? Thanks
Hahaha...yes, that's the diagnosis. It is difficult to trust Nicks this week, as of this moment. It's so hard b/c it feels like he could have that big time game like he had earlier in the year at any moment, but given the setback with his knee and a less than convincing showing since, I'd be inclined to go with Hilton for sure, probably Alexander. Don't think I start Blackmon over him.
Hey Stephania, who is a better flex play, Greg Jennings who says he is healthy, Mike Williams against the Eagles, or Vick Ballard with D. Brown out and against the Titans.
Daniel: I like Jennings. WIth Nelson expected out and Jennings now with a game under his belt, I think he has the biggest game.
With that said about Amendola how does that affect Givens and would you play Givens over Danario against Pitt?
Billy: I would play GIvens over Danario. Obviously if Amendola is out, there's no concern about him taking catches away. But even if he plays, Givens has been increasing his connection with Bradford.
Do you think Rob Gronk is back next week and what is the word on Nelson playing next week too.. week 15 I am talking about..
Devin: All depends on the bone healing and there's no way to know from here how that's going. I thought Week 15 would be the soonest we'd see Gronkowski, still think that's the case. Nelson hasn't done anything in practice so it's too soon to talk about next week. The team isn't even thinking about next week. He's still not officially out for this week. So, other than guessing there's no real info to be had.
I have an IDP injury question? Any chance Calais Campbell's calf is healed enough for him to play this week? Thanks always enjoy your television appearances
Kevin: Thank you. If only we could lock it down. I do think he has a better chance of playing this week, if only because the team thought he was close to playing last week. When he didn't it came as a bit of a surprise, so the hope is the extra week helped. They would love to have him back out there.
Status on McFadden, I think he reinjured his ankle again last nite.
Kevin: He did, which is why he left the game. Initially head coach Allen said he had no idea how serious it was. Jason Cole from Yahoo! Sports reported this morning that it did not appear serious but that is all the updates so far. Don't expect the Raiders to offer much more until practice rolls around next week.
With regards to Big Ben the Unbreakable. I've heard from ppl with similar degrees as yourself imply that unlike an AC joint separation, significant damage to the SC joint likely will have career altering affects on his arm strength. Is there any truth to that?
Steven: There's certainly concern about that, especially if there is significant instability. That can be highly variable however. If there is a minimal separation and it scars down/heals well, then he should be able to throw without issue. I'd be more concerned if he was not able to return for an extended time because he was having trouble throwing the ball. The fact they've seen what they need to see and he's coming back is pretty encouraging. Now he needs to not re-injure it.
Any new update on Gresham? If he's out, do I pickup Bennett or Pettigrew?
Mike: Yes, the latest is he did return to practice Friday. WHat's not clear is how much he was able to do and what his designation will be. I remain nervous until I hear more. I'd grab Pettigrew.
Stephanie, love your work thanks for all you do.....My question-Have Big Ben in 2 leagues and have Dalton and Wilson as my current starters the last few weeks. In the playoffs this week in both leagues and I am concerned about how effective he will be.....Would you play him over either guy in the 1st week back from his injury? Thanks
Scott: Thanks you. I'd probably go with either of them over Ben in his first game back. Not that I'm overly worried about him injury-wise but it is his first game in a month and I think they run the ball a lot. For fantasy points, I'd take either of the other two, probably Dalton.
What about Vincent Jackson? Any word on what's going on there?
David: He's had a calf injury and has been on the report off and on. Not particularly worried here since he was back in full practice yesterday. Naturally, want to see him back out there today but as of now, expect he plays.
Thanks for all the great work! Your thoughts on if MJD is back this year or if they shut him down since he's out? I'm looking for RB depth and am gauging Owens value in weeks 15/16 vs. Danny Woodhead in a PPR Return Yds league. Thanks!
Thank you! I don't think they're planning to shut him down. That said, the longer it goes obviously the more his stock drops. I don't want to play him his first week back and that may not be until Week 16. At this point I'd hang onto Owens and at least get a good glimpse of how he looks this week.
Hey Steph. Thanks for chatting. Can you tell me how Murray is looking this week? My playoffs start this week and I'm eager to hear good news about his availability and whether or not he's still limited at all.
Hi Jim: THank you for joining. I think everyone is happy about how Murray came out of last week's game. He admitted to being surprised by how much he played but said the foot felt good. They gave him Weds off after all that work, then a limited practice Thurs but they're being cautious with him just coming back. Does not sound as if they plan to limit him on the field.
BTW, Shorts is missing Friday practice as we speak. Make other plans.
Any more word on Michael Bush? If he is out does Forte automatically get a significant boost with goalline work?
Drew: I have not been under the impression that folks in Chicago are particularly worried about Bush but instead that he's getting rest in advance of the game. If he doesn't practice today (no word yet), then I'd be concerned, but yes, his absence would bump up Forte.
Thoughts on Shady Mccoy rest of season? Is he going to be shut down?
So far there has been no indication that McCoy will be shut down unless he goes backwards. The goal is to progress him to return as his health allows. Won't be this week. We should learn more with an Eagles update this afternoon.
Have to run to radio. Thanks for coming! More updates in tomorrow's blog!! Good luck in the playoffs.
