Chat with Radi Nabulsi

Radi Nabulsi
  (2:47 PM)

We will get started shortly. Tons of questions already!

shone forsythe (cordele ga)

Do you think JUCO Rumph comes in and contributes right away?

Radi Nabulsi
  (2:52 PM)

Jonathon Rumph is a physical specimen but that doesn't mean much in a conference filled with guys like that. My guess is that he does since he is the big target that Aaron Murray loses with Marlon Brown graduating. Rumph is talented and should prove valuable in the red zone.

mac (Cannon)

Is Murray coming back for the 2013 season?

Radi Nabulsi
  (2:54 PM)

I asked him at 12:15 today and he said he has not thought about it a lot. He is focusing on Nebraska and still can't stop thinking about the Alabama game. Says that game keeps him up at night. He will talk it over with his family and see how he projects. Richt danced around the question too. So in other words, I don't think he is close to a decision right now.

shone forsythe (cordele ga)

Since Rankin is participating in the bowl practices....can he play?

Radi Nabulsi
  (2:56 PM)

No. In fact Ryne Rankin, the ILB commit from Orlando, Fla., will only be able to practice with the team in Athens. He cannot practice at the bowl site or be on the sidelines for the game.

Zeke (GA)

Do you think Bobo will get a head coaching gig?

Radi Nabulsi
  (2:57 PM)

Yes. He is too talented not to. I don't see him leaving this year though. His star id rising. Was just named one of the top assistant coaches in the nation. Not too shabby...

Steve Harmon (Westfield, Mass)

What crackin G? I think Murray wants to come back and have a wicked season. Have you heard anything about LeMay transferring to UVA or anywhere else for that matter?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:00 PM)

I have not heard that G. But it would not surprise me. After the coaches brought in walk-on Parker Welch for mop-up duty instead of Christian LeMay, I can't help but think that would not sit well with him. We will see after the bowl game.

chris (gallatin TN)

how many more commits are the dawgs going to take and do you think Montravius Adams,Reuben Foster,Laremy Tunsil, and Alvin Kamara will commit to the dawgs

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:03 PM)

I think they take five or six more and that a couple of the guys on that list commit to Georgia. Vague enough for you? Sorry to tease but I just don;t know the answer. Georgia is in the top two with Tunsil and Kamara. Both Adams and Foster say great things about Georgia. But who can tell how that is going to play out?

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

Do you think that Georgia will win their Bowl Game This season?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:06 PM)

I would say the smart money is on Georgia. The players I spoke to today are pretty upset that they have lost their last two bowl games (UCF and Michigan State)

Drom John (Macon, Georgia)

Are the GymDawgs as usual the best team in Athens this year?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:09 PM)

We will see if they come within a tenth of a point of competing for the national title. Good luck to them as they start with new coach Danna Durante.

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

What College Football Bowl Game are you Looking Forward seeing this season?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:13 PM)

The Cotton (Sooners vs. Johnny Manziel), the Chick-fil-a (loser has to drop the name Death Valley from its stadium) and the Sugar Bowl (Charlie Strong going against the Gators for once). For just about everything else I am glad I have HBOgo

shone forsythe (cordele ga)

Does Kwame stay?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:14 PM)

I think if Kwame Geathers did stay for his senior year he would be the first Geathers to do so. No, I am fairly certain he is gone.

Armin (St Louis MO)

what georgia player you see going the highest and to what team? do you see the rams drafting any georgia players?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:18 PM)

Jarvis Jones and to the Jacksonville Jaguars is my guess. As for the Rams I don't know what they need.

Tybee2103 (athens)

I just saw Todd McShay's mock draft with J.Jones going 13th to the Saints and Tree going 17th to live with every other Pro bulldog in Cincy. How does Jarvis fall to 13th and how do we keep him from landing with the Aints?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:19 PM)

Todd McShay knows 1000x more than I do about the draft and who needs what where but in this case I will disagree with him.

Bobby (Atlanta, GA)

Who do you think of the currently committed prospects makes the biggest impact in his freshman year (2013)?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:24 PM)

Georgia is razor thin at safety so I would think juco transfers Shaq Fluker or Kennar Johnson first, or possibly Tray Matthews. Tramel Terry will be hard to keep off of the field. But I am going to go off the board and pick an unknown quantity: Chris Mayes on the defensive line. I have heard some great things about him lately and Georgia will need to rebuild there.

shone forsythe (cordele ga)

They say that Murray and Mason are not too far apart. So if Murray comes back for his senior year do you foresee a QB battle?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:28 PM)

No. Murray is an elite college quarterback. Mason could be a great one. But if he were at Murray's level then he should have been able to beat Murray out for the starting spot. Murray is second on the list of SEC career touchdowns. He did that in three years. The guy is scary good. Coming back as a senior with talented wideouts, the exact same offensive line but a year older, and a dynamic running back duo -- Murray would be unstoppable. I can't see Bobo handing the reins to anyone else.

Chris Roy (Hendersonville,Tn)

do you think Toby Johnson commits to the Dawgs?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:29 PM)

I would be tunned if he did not eventually choose Georgia.

Michael (SC)

Do you see GA having a chance to get to the SEC championship game next year?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:30 PM)

A chance? Yes. But I predict Florida will be there next year as Georgia rebuilds the defense.

Quent (Troy,Al)

Is there a surprise recruit that UGA might end up with by signing day.

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:30 PM)

Yes.

Matt Gauthier (Broomfield, CO)

Which quarterback will have the best chance of starting after Murray leaves?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:31 PM)

Hutson Mason. No question in my mind.

Jordan Greene (athens, TN)

Who is more of a Heisman contender next year: Aaron Murray or Todd Gurley

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:32 PM)

Murray was getting a lot of Heisman talk before the South Carolina game. If he comes back and puts up the crazy numbers that he did has the first three years, he is invited to New York. Besides those voters love quarterbacks.

Quent (Troy,Al)

which recruit thats not commited do you think is the most important recruit they need to get? I feel like its Reuben Foster because he maybe be able to come in and play right away with all the players they have leaving.

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:35 PM)

Great question. Before last Friday I would have said Laremy Tunsil and that is still an easy answer. But after seeing what Montravius Adams can do and seeing at how Alabama ran the ball on a tired Georgia defensive line -- a line that is losing Abry Jones, John Jenkins and likely Kwame Geathers -- I think the Bulldogs need Adams more.

Michael (SC)

How sick is the team about the Alabama loss?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:37 PM)

Murray can't sleep. The other players are still heartbroken. It is bad. They will snap out of it but that loss ripped their hearts out.

Zeke (GA)

What do you think the point spread would be if you had a 2012 SEC All-star team play the Kansas City Chiefs in the Georgia Dome?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:37 PM)

Chiefs by 28

Wes (Milledgeville, GA)

Where does R. Foster end up? I know we have been working him pretty hard, just get the vibe he doesnt want to play at UGA.

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:40 PM)

He loves Georgia but I think you need to see where Trooper Taylor lands first. He has a good family situation in Auburn and I think Gus Malzahn can hang onto him.

Will Bishop (Americus, GA)

Is Tobey Johnson getting close to making an announcement?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:42 PM)

He told me Monday he planned to take few more visits but I expect him to decide soon. He is no longer a December graduate so there is no hurry.

Michael (SC)

How does this defense look next year?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:43 PM)

Mostly brand new. Lot of fresh faces out there.

Zac (Leesburg,GA)

What are the chances Jarvis Jones stays another year, and at this point what kind of year do you think UGA will have next season

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:44 PM)

Zero percent. I see an 8-4 season in store next year.

Dre (J-ville)

Yo Yo Yo Yo Radi! Do you see any recruits that the Dawgs might try to steal late like they did with JMC and Dawson last year?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:45 PM)

Not really. If Foster were still committed to Auburn then maybe that would qualify as a steal.

Jonathan E (Naples)

It seems like Richt's great teams are always led by players who are highly motivated (2012, 2007, 2002); otherwise they're flat. How motivated and leadership-filled will next year's team be?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:46 PM)

I think Arthur Lynch, David Andrews, Garrison Smith and possibly Aaron Murray would be a strong leadership group.

mcqueenct ((Raleigh, NC))

Two quick one Radi, One, Do you see Keith and Todd continuing to co-exist and who might be a surprise to shun the draft

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:50 PM)

Yes, Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall get along well and Marshall had a very successful freshman campaign-- 723 yards and 8 TDs is nothing to sneeze at. Plus he has another game to go. Garrison Smith told me he was coming back which is a little surprising since he always said he would leave early if he had a chance. Granted he knows he needs to come back but I thought he might think on it longer.

Bobby (Atlanta)

Where does Robert Nkemdiche land? There seemed to be so much hype surrounding him early and I havent heard much lately.

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:50 PM)

Ole Miss is my guess.

shone forsythe (cordele ga)

Our defense looks like it is going to be a young one next year. Should I be worried?

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:53 PM)

Yes. There are some players with experience like Damian Swann, Garrison Smith, Jordan Jenkins, Amarlo Herrera and Chase Vasser but the secondary needs rebuilding almost completely.

Lee M (KY)

As good as this years offense was, i think if murray returns, it could be much better, and help keep Georgia from falling off despite huge losses on D. How do you project us finishing next year considering our schedule.

Radi Nabulsi
  (3:58 PM)

Much of my prediction for next year is predicated on your point. Maybe 9-3 if Murray returns. Looking at Clemson, LSU, Florida, South Carolina on the schedule, I can easily see 8-4.

Bobby (Atlanta)

There seems to be a lot of pessimism regarding a young defense next year (with some good reason). But if Alabama can send the guys it sent last year and go back to the BCS this year, why dont you think the fresh faces at GA can do what they did?

Radi Nabulsi
  (4:01 PM)

They very well could have a great year. Another group of players that fit Todd Grantham's defense? Why not? But few predicted Alabama to do so well on defense. So until the new crop of Bulldogs proves itself, there will be the warranted pessimism that you noted.

Matt (Jasper, GA)

Gurley for Heisman '13?

Radi Nabulsi
  (4:01 PM)

2014

Jay (Watkinsville GA)

What is the percent chance UGA gets Tyrone Crowder, Laremy Tunsil, Toby Johnson, Montravius Adams, Reuben Foster and Alvin Kamara to round out their recruiting. #1 class

Radi Nabulsi
  (4:02 PM)

1 percent. That would be hitting the lottery in football recruiting.

Lee M (KY)

(insert whiney complaint about not getting questions answered here) man i hate those guys. Anyways what do you foresee as being the dawgs top targets for 2014?

Radi Nabulsi
  (4:05 PM)

Tight ends Jeb Blazevich and Milan Richard, running back Sony Michel and linebacker Raekwon McMillan for starters.

De (AL)

If Alvin Kamara commit do you see him getting any playing time next yr with Gurley and Marshall in the back field

Radi Nabulsi
  (4:07 PM)

Yes. He told me he could also line up in the slot and catch passes. Plus Georgia often uses three tailbacks in a game. I think he is up to fighting for a spot.

mcqueenct ((Raleigh, NC))

Has either the OC or DC been directly mentioned for any HC postitons and what's the probability of it happening?

Radi Nabulsi
  (4:09 PM)

Mike Bobo and Todd Grantham have both been mentioned for head coaching spots but I think both are at Georgia next year. But there is always turnover in college football coaching so don't take that as more than just an opinion.

Tybee2103 (athens)

Of the remaining targets for UGA, who makes their decision, to UGA or another school, next?

Radi Nabulsi
  (4:14 PM)

Alvin Kamara could decide any day. Or not. He has his own timetable and says if he wakes up one day and knows where he wants to go he will announce it. Might not happen for a while. Reuben Foster says he is going to take his time but I would not be surprised if he changed his mind either. Montravius Adams will decide in January. Laremy Tunsil on signing day. Toby Johnson will take a few more visits but could announce at any time as well. So there is no set schedule for three of these guys.

Bobby (Atlanta)

It seems like the stars aligned this year for an SEC and BCS title run. Do you see UGA getting back to that level before another 20 years comes and goes?

Radi Nabulsi
  (4:16 PM)

Sure. Richt has played in the SEC title game 5 of the 12 years he has been in Athens. That is almost once every two years. We keep seeing the winner of that game play in the BCS title game. Add to that the fact that there will be a playoff soon and I would conclude Georgia will be in the mix again very soon.

Radi Nabulsi
  (4:17 PM)

Thanks folks. I have go to run. Please stop by The Pound at DawgNation if I did not get to your question(s).
