Chat with Dan Rafael

Dan Rafael
  (12:03 PM)

Greetings Fight Freaks and welcome to the weekly boxing chat. The year's almost over, but there's one more notable fight on Saturday -- the return of boxing to NBC -- and the annual awards to come next week. So we can discuss any of that, last week's Donaire-Arce fight, Khan-Molina, the CBS return to boxing and anything else. Let's get to it.

Audel (oakland ca)

Dan, do you think mayweather will fight cinco de mayo weekend at the mgm in vegas 2013?

Dan Rafael
  (12:03 PM)

Yes, May 4.

Maurice (Dongola, IL)

When will we see Tyson Fury and one of the klitchko,s.

Dan Rafael
  (12:06 PM)

I would say a fight with Wladimir might be possible in 2013. The question is will Fury and his handlers take the fight.

Overlord (LA,CA)

Do you think Pacquiao is done? or will he ever be able to get back at that high level?Never be the same? You think he needs a tune up or go for the 5th fight late next year?

Dan Rafael
  (12:07 PM)

My view is he is still a top fighter, but not THE top fighter. Those days are over. He has been sliding for a few fights and it ain't gonna get any better, but he is still one of the best in the business. That KO was really, really rough.

Stuart (Englewood, NJ)

Which big fight MIGHT we expect next year? Canelo vs Cotto, Mayweather vs Guerrero, Pac vs JMM 5, Magic man Paulie vs Sugar Shane?

Dan Rafael
  (12:08 PM)

First of all, to call Malignaggi-Mosley a "big fight" is laughable. It's actually a pathetic fight I hope doesn't happen. As for a big fight next year, I would think Mayweather-Avarez is a really big fight. Obviously, Marquez-Pacquiao 5 is also. I think both have a good chane of happening.

Dan (Boston)

Hey Dan, which fight do you think would be more competitive: the Zab Judah- Garcia fight or the possible Malignaggi - Khan rematch?

Dan Rafael
  (12:09 PM)

Garcia-Judah. I thought Malignaggi lost to Cano. I dont see him beating Khan, especially since Malignaggi is not a puncher at all.

Bob (Lynchburg, VA)

I heard that Todd Grisham will be hosting Friday Night Fights starting in January. Are there anymore personnel changes coming within Friday Night Fights?

Dan Rafael
  (12:12 PM)

Yes, Todd will be the studio host in Bristol with Bernardo Osuna becoming an on-site reporter for each card. No other major changes that I am aware of. The new season begins Jan. 4. I will also continue to be a regular contibutor to FNF and am very, very happy to have signed a multi-year contract extension in recent weeks to remain with ESPN to keep on doing what I do.

Joe (Vancouver)

Are Alexander Povetkin and his management serious about fighting Wladimir Klitschko this time?

Dan Rafael
  (12:13 PM)

They sound it, but they have sounded like it before and then ducked the fight. We shall see.

Mike (DC)

Does Ward-Pavlik have a new date yet?

Dan Rafael
  (12:13 PM)

Not 100% but most likely March 2.

Richard (Croydon UK)

Rios-Alvarado II. If that actually gets made for Staples Centre, I would seriously consider flying across the pond and watching live. It should/will be that good!!

Dan Rafael
  (12:14 PM)

Exactly. The could put it in Antarctica and I'd want to go.

Peter (Ithaca)

Any chance Pacquiao moves down to 140? Fighting bigger guys all the time has to take a toll.

Dan Rafael
  (12:15 PM)

I guess you never know, but I have not heard that even considered. He was a pretty solid 147 last fight.

Michael [via mobile]

Do you believe Broner will fight two or three times next year?

Dan Rafael
  (12:15 PM)

Three.

lj (nj)

Any truth about Josesito Lopez being lined up next for Khan?

Dan Rafael
  (12:15 PM)

I spoke to Josesito's trainer, Henry Ramirez, just last night and that is a possibility for April.

Clare (N. Hollywood) [via mobile]

Hey Tito Dan-tana, who can be Donaires highest profile fight even if he moves up to his maximum weight?

Dan Rafael
  (12:16 PM)

Obviously, right now his biggest fight is Mares.

Mike (DC)

Anything on the EPIX slate for Q1 2013?

Dan Rafael
  (12:16 PM)

The dates are not set, but yes, they are planning stuff for the first quarter. I would anticipate something in February.

Robert (Houston, TX)

With Martinez being a year older and his physical ailments, not to mention the 12th round finish, what chance would you give Chavez Jr. in a rematch?

Dan Rafael
  (12:16 PM)

Not much.

tom f (indiana)

boxrec says floyd-guerrero is on, is that true? and if it is how bad does floyd whoop him?

Dan Rafael
  (12:17 PM)

No, because Boxrec always jumps the gun and the schedule is often wrong. That is a fight that could happen, that is being discussed, but to add it to any schedule at this point is premature.

Gordon (Tacoma)

Boxing is brutual considering father time. Pacman has been one of my favorites since the downfall of RJJ. Whats so obvious to me is Pacmans hand and foot speed isn't nearly what it was just a few years ago. Would you agree on that?

Dan Rafael
  (12:17 PM)

Yes.

Barksdale (Baltimore)

Got to love The Ring shuffling Donaire up to #5 off that meaningless (in a P4P sense) KO of Arce, and putting Broner to #6 (still incomprehensibly high). Perhaps they could, y'know, just admit they were wrong?

Dan Rafael
  (12:17 PM)

Broner at 6 renders the rankings a joke.

Steve (Hartford)

Do you think Burns is ducking Broner ?

Dan Rafael
  (12:18 PM)

I dont know about that. I think they idea is just to make the best possible deal.

Johnny (San Antonio)

Didn't see Joel Julio on your latest PFP list. What's up with that?

Dan Rafael
  (12:18 PM)

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the Love Child. He is p4p No. 1 for inactive Colombian fighters.

Arthur Moore (Chi town)

What the heck is up with Gary Russell? He went from Top Prospect to a guy who you rarely see fight? Have I missed something? Seems like Broner has taken the mantle.

Dan Rafael
  (12:20 PM)

Gary was the prospect of the year last year and had a horrible follow-up year. He still has all the exceptional talent in the world, but only fought twice this year against nobodies. Part of it was injuries. The rest? Who knows. 2012 was a lost year for him.

tom f (indiana)

why are there never any big fights in chicago?

Dan Rafael
  (12:20 PM)

There have been, just not in recent years. Probably because there are no big names to have fights with there that make sense.

Bobby (Pittsburgh)

Bryant Jennings-Prospect of the year?

Dan Rafael
  (12:21 PM)

On the list for sure, but not the winner.

Dan (Chicago)

Does Hammerin Hank have a chance against Lucas Matthsysee? If Lucas wins, do you see a fight against the Judah-Garcia winner?

Dan Rafael
  (12:21 PM)

I think Lundy will hang in there, but will not be strong enough or slick enough to keep Matthysse away forever.

Mike (DC)

Do you think GBP gets Broner-Burns done? If not who could Boner face?

Dan Rafael
  (12:21 PM)

I hope so, but I doubt it happens in Broner's next fight.

Michael [via mobile]

Do you believe the major state run boxing agencies will take a more aggressive stance on doping and actually ramp up testing procedures?

Dan Rafael
  (12:22 PM)

I hope so.

The Hard Y (Beaverton OR)

Do you own a copy of Round 1 - Roy Jones, Jr's album?

Dan Rafael
  (12:22 PM)

No, I do not.

Zed (Beverly)

Dan, forgive me bc I didnt get to read your piece (yet) on this but how is Nonito FOY? He fought two guys on their way out of the sport and into retirement and everyone else is undersized and outclassed.

Dan Rafael
  (12:22 PM)

You are clueless.

Joe (San Francisco, CA)

Who do you like this weekend in Adamek-Cunningham 2?

Dan Rafael
  (12:23 PM)

I kinda lean to Cunningham but I really dont know. I am hoping for another good fight.

Nick (NY)

Do you think Vitali will fight in 2013?

Dan Rafael
  (12:23 PM)

Yes, I think he will fight at least once more.

Johnny (Phoenix)

What do you think is next up for Miguel Cotto? Two tough fights and two tough losses. Is he still lined up for Canelo? Wouldn't that be a mistake without a tune up fight?

Dan Rafael
  (12:24 PM)

Not sure. Right now I dont know Cotto is thinking boxing after a tough fight. In a couple of months, he will probably look to his next fight, but I dont think it will be Canelo (nor should it). I guess we'll see.

Grant (Kent, WA)

When do we get to find out the 2012 award winners?

Dan Rafael
  (12:24 PM)

The awards stories will run during next week, beginning with the fighter of the year package on Monday.

The Met (T.O.)

It's for a good cause and all, but do you think all that extra hair has made Angulo even slower than we all remember him? Lol. Jeez he was underwater on Saturday night.

Dan Rafael
  (12:24 PM)

Pay the man, Shirley!

Fareed (Seattle,WA)

Hey Dan, love your work. Will Top Rank do right by Donaire and get him in the ring with Mares?

Dan Rafael
  (12:25 PM)

It's not a one-way Top Rank street. Top Rank and Golden Boy have to be willing to make a fair deal with each other to do the fight and so far neither seems ready to do that no matter what they might say publicaly. The proof is in the action and as far as I know there has been zero legitimate talks between the sides to do it.

fabien (london)

what chance would you say froch v kessler happens next?

Dan Rafael
  (12:26 PM)

I think that will be the next fight for both guys.

Mike (DC)

Thank god cooler heads prevailed and Quillin-Taylor is not happening!

Dan Rafael
  (12:26 PM)

Agreed. At least Fernando Guerrero is a younger, much fresher opponent.

Ken (OH)

Dan, do you think Donaire-Mares could be a PPV if they would actually make it? It seems they could put any number of GBP-TR matches as the co-feature and maybe do close to Sergio-Chavez 1 numbers.

Dan Rafael
  (12:27 PM)

I think it could headline a smaller PPV show and do a 250,000 buys or maybe even a little more. But I think whichever network would land it, if the fight could be made, would pay enough to keep it off PPV and put on the network. It would have no chance to do the kind of PPV numbers generated by Martinez-Chavez, not even close.

Nick (NY)

In your conversations with Mike Tyson, has he ever expressed regret for leaving Kevin Rooney and Bill Cayton?

Dan Rafael
  (12:27 PM)

Not once.

Dan Rafael
  (12:28 PM)

Speaking of Tyson, please check out my piece on his upcoming stage show tour that was published this week: http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/8766284/again-mike-tyson-world-stage

The Hard Y (Beaverton OR)

Initial thoughts on a Canelo-Trout fight?

Dan Rafael
  (12:29 PM)

Bad fight for Canelo.

matt (Los Angeles)

Does a JMM vs Bradley fight interest you? for me as a fight freak I love the idea of JMM going and getting pac's old belt and than giving him a rematch to try and come get it in what would be both of there last fights before retirement. What do you think?

Dan Rafael
  (12:29 PM)

I'd be fine with it but I doubt it happens. I think Marquez will chill for awhile as will Pacquiao and they will fight again next fall and only fight once apiece in 2013.

Mike (DC)

What are the chances Trout gets shelved by GBP?

Dan Rafael
  (12:30 PM)

Zero since Golden Boy isn't Trout's promoter.

tim (new york)

broner burns who wins.ive seen burns last few fights he wins by his jab for me,you ?

Dan Rafael
  (12:30 PM)

I believe Broner is way too powerful, athletic and fast for Burns.

Squab (BC)

Does Guerrero even have a ghost of a chance against Mayweather (if they fight)?

Dan Rafael
  (12:30 PM)

Absolutely.

JR (Los Angleles)

I heard Lucian bute vs. Edwin Rodriguez any truth? not badd of a fight good step up for Edwin

Dan Rafael
  (12:31 PM)

It's been discussed, but not a made fight by any means.

Dan Rafael
  (12:31 PM)

It's been discussed, but not a made fight by any means.

Dan Rafael
  (12:31 PM)

By the way, here's my story on Adamek-Cunningham II and the return of boxing to NBC: http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/8769075/tomasz-adamek-steve-cunningham-rematch-network-revival

Bobby (San Diego)

Any news on what's up for Austin Trout? I'd like to see him fight Canelo since he's earned the opportunity but he's probably going to get passed over because he's not a "name" opponent just yet?

Dan Rafael
  (12:32 PM)

Nothing, which is no surprise. He JUST fought.

Nick (DE)

DTM, Thanks for putting out your ratings. They bring sanity to the sport. The only thing funnier than the ring putting Broner #5 in the p4p is moving Donaire ahead of him based on a ko of a past-his-prime arce.

Joe (San Francisco, CA)

Do you know anything about Glazkov, Hamer's opponent tomorrow? I dont see any recognizable names on his resume other than Airich.

Dan Rafael
  (12:32 PM)

I am not very familiar with him but will be by the end of this weekend!

The Met (T.O.)

Someone needs to put a gag order on Skip Bayless when it comes to talking boxing. His comments about Pacquiao "blowing his legacy" are about as credible as anyone deeming him as being anything more than just a steaming teapot.

Dan Rafael
  (12:32 PM)

Pacquiao didnt blow his legacy. Just ignore Skip's boxing gibberish.

Nizzi (Des Moines)

Does Kevin Rooney work with any fighters anymore?

Dan Rafael
  (12:33 PM)

None to speak of. He had been training his son, Kevin Rooney Jr., but he isnt fighting anymore. Back to his PR job with Lou DiBella.

Mike (DC)

Has Tim Bradley joined the Winky Wright School for Boxing Business?!

Dan Rafael
  (12:33 PM)

Joined it? He's on the board of directors.

Joe (Frankfurt)

Biggest lesson from last weekend: Jean Pascal is a better fighter when he knows he only has one arm.

Dan Rafael
  (12:34 PM)

LOL!!!

Wiston (Sacramento )

Has Andre Ward stated to you about eventually moving up to 175 or will he stay at 168 a little while longer? Assuming he gets past Pavlik, of course.

Dan Rafael
  (12:35 PM)

Andre has told me many times that he wants to stay at 168 right now but that eventually he will move to 175.

Rags (NYC)

Any chance we could get Canelo-Angulo next?

Dan Rafael
  (12:35 PM)

I think that's possible. Fun fight.

Kevin (MN)

What do you attribute 39 year old Marquez's transformation into a one punch killer to?

Dan Rafael
  (12:35 PM)

Drinking his own urine???????????

Ethan Iceberg (TO)

Do you think we'll see a Chavez JR - Martinez rematch in 2013?

Dan Rafael
  (12:35 PM)

Yes, I do.

Mango (DC)

Are you ok with 50 Cent adding WWE style stuff to the boxing events?

Dan Rafael
  (12:36 PM)

Absolutely. Wouldn't that make for a better show? As a WWE fan, I say bring it on, liven things up.

Ken (OH)

Dan, the FNF with Carlos Molina feb 1 shows in Chicago, do you know the venue? I can't seem to find it online

Dan Rafael
  (12:37 PM)

I checked with promoter Leon Margules and he emailed me back. The fight will be at UIC pavilion and tickets are expected to go on sale on Saturday.

JeffinLA (Los Angeles)

Could you elaborate on Guerrero's chances versus Mayweather?

Dan Rafael
  (12:38 PM)

Southpaw, good chin, good skills, not as fast as Floyd but good speed, huge desire, good power, younger by 6 years, confident. Just a legit fight in my view after seeing how Robert dealt with good welterweights Aydin and Berto.

Pete (Texas)

What's on the king freaks Christmas wish list this year!?

Dan Rafael
  (12:39 PM)

Nothing. I pretty much have everything I could ask for except Top Rank-Golden Boy peace.

Jay (Indiana)

I guess the guys on PTI forgot to tell CBS and NBC that boxing is dead... Speaking of, was CBS happy with their ratings, show, production overall?

Dan Rafael
  (12:40 PM)

Read this for your answer: http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/8761607/return-network-tv-hit-boxing

JR (Los Angleles)

I think Lucas Mathessey cleans out the 140lb division next yr. do you differ?

Dan Rafael
  (12:40 PM)

Depends on if he can get the fights needed to do that. I'd love to see him fight Danny Garcia.

Mickey (DC)

Better 1 punch KO Hearns-Duran or Marquez-Pacquiao?

Dan Rafael
  (12:40 PM)

They are on the same level.

David (NYC)

Does Jose Suliaman charge Santa a sanctioning fee when he comes down his chimmney?

Dan Rafael
  (12:41 PM)

Pay the man, Shirley! #wbcisdisgusting

C.M. (Toronto)

Kudos to Jim Lampley (and HBO) for tackling the PED issue head on last weekend on "The Fight Game". They could have turned a blind eye because of their position, but this was the right way to go.

Dan Rafael
  (12:41 PM)

I agree.

Frank (NJ)

I thought of this right after the Marquez-Pacquiao KO: Now that we probably wont see Mayweather vs. Pacquiao...what would have been your prediction if they fought?

Dan Rafael
  (12:41 PM)

Never say never.

Jim (Santa Monica)

I saw Jorge Silva's fight against Kamegai and knew that Angulo was in for a long fight. Didn't know where Silva's toughness came from, then when they said he was from Erik Morales' gym, everything suddenly made sense.

Dan Rafael
  (12:41 PM)

Exactly, Silva-Kamegai was a very good scrap.

Tony (TX)

Dan, when do you think we'll see Gennady Golovkin back in the ring? And against who?

Dan Rafael
  (12:42 PM)

Somebody hasnt looked at the schedule or been reading the news stories. He fights on HBO in New York on Jan. 19 vs. Gabriel Rosado in the middle fight of a tripleheader. It's the holiday season so I won't berate you or ban you.

Todd (Florence, SC)

Hey Dan - I'm curious as to why you didn't vote for Virgil Hill into the HOF. Surely he is worthy with 20+ title defenses @ 175, a cruiserweight title reign, and an Olympic Gold medal?

Dan Rafael
  (12:43 PM)

I strongly considered him and probably would have voted for him next year.

Dan Rafael
  (12:43 PM)

Check out the new p4p rankings for December: http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/8761656/ranking-world-top-pound-pound-boxers

Mango (DC)

That rumored Summer 2012 card in DC never happened. Any word if Golden Boy will try again next year?

Dan Rafael
  (12:43 PM)

No plans that I am aware of.

Richard (Croydon UK)

Who does promote Trout then??

Dan Rafael
  (12:43 PM)

Greg Cohen.

Frank (FL)

Do you believe Tyson was innocent of the Rape in Indianapolis of which he has always denied?

Dan Rafael
  (12:44 PM)

How the hell would I know? I was not in the hotel room.

Rob (Denton, Tx)

Want to hear your thoughts on this. I have been a boxing fan my whole life but turned into a big freak in the year 2000. I think as of right now this is the best state boxing has been in out of the last 13 years. With the social media now word gets spread easier. I remember when RJJ got knocked out by Tarver and I didnt hear one person at work talking about it, when Manny got knocked out it was the main topic at work for 3 days. Now it did good ratings on CBS and has another fight tomorrow on NBC. Good time to be a freak.

Dan Rafael
  (12:44 PM)

Interesting point. Social media has definitely raised awareness and made it easier to communicate with boxing fans, media, fighters, etc...

Julianf (Davenport, IA)

Dan what was your opinion on Khan and Wilder last week? I think Wilder can knockout a moose if he landed that nasty right lol

Dan Rafael
  (12:46 PM)

Khan did what he needed to do in his comeback. He seemed calmer against Molina, not as wild as he had been. Virgil and he seem to be a good match. Wilder's right-hand power is sick. He could knock out a moose, a horse and a pig at the same time. But he is also very raw in other areas and has a lot of work to do. But you can't teach that power and that kind of power can cover up a lot of other mistakes.

C.M. (Toronto)

As far as I'm concerned, the moment of the night last week: "Oh George, you old flatterer." Those who know the love/hate on-air partnership between Larry and George over the years had to have smiled at that!

Dan Rafael
  (12:46 PM)

I didnt hear it until I watched the telecast when I got home from Houston but that was just great. Was great that George was there, since he lives in Houston. Was nice to hear George, Larry and Jim back together even if it was brief.

CM Punk (Best in the World)

Larry Merchant who was throwing PIPEBOMBS before I could say the letters GTS!!! THANK YOU LARRY!!! THANK YOU LARRY!!! THANK YOU LARRY

Dan Rafael
  (12:47 PM)

I was glad I was in Houston and able to spend some time with Larry on Saturday.

fred (Pa)

Khan vs Ortiz? I'd watch!

Dan Rafael
  (12:47 PM)

I would too!

Mickey (DC)

Does Larry Merchant still work for HBO or is he a free agent?

Dan Rafael
  (12:48 PM)

Larry still has contractual ties to HBO to work on some stuff here and there when needed but he is also free to pursue other things as well.

Tom (Atlanta, Georgia)

Can you explain the Top Rank - Golden Boy issue? I've been watching boxing for year but never heard of any reason behind it all, just that there is a problem between the two promotional companies.

Dan Rafael
  (12:48 PM)

One word: Google.

Charlie (Chicago, IL)

Victor Ortiz any closer to returning? any update on him?

Dan Rafael
  (12:48 PM)

My understanding is that he will be back in the spring.

C.M. (Toronto)

And great to hear Roy on-air with Jim, Larry, and George at the same time as well. Roy and Larry have also had their moments over the years. A great sendoff for Merchant. Emanuel would have approved.

Matt (Philly)

Dan, have you heard anything regarding a decision by Showtime on Antonio Tarver's future as a broadcaster? While I think he did a good job, I think Paulie Malignaggi is even better than the Magic Man.

Dan Rafael
  (12:49 PM)

Tarver is done at Showtime.

Haris Syed Abbasi (Edison, NJ)

Any word on who is next for Adrien Broner?

Dan Rafael
  (12:50 PM)

He'll be back Feb. 16 on HBO at Boardwalk Hall in AC but no opponent is set yet.

Mickey (DC)

Do you think George can come back to commentating?

Dan Rafael
  (12:50 PM)

If he wanted to, sure.

Ricardo (Bronx, NY)

The greatness of boxing...Larry Merchant never threw a punch..and he got the biggest ovation of the night!!! Thank You, Larry

Dan Rafael
  (12:51 PM)

Best thing was when the show was off the air and he was leaving ringside to go upstairs to do Jim Lampley's Fight Game show, the crowd started chanting "Larry! Larry! Larry!" It was awesome.

Haris Syed Abbasi (Edison, NJ)

Dan, no New York Knicks shout out?

Dan Rafael
  (12:52 PM)

Been a great season so far! I will be watching them on Xmas day agains the Lakers. Melo is the MVP so far.

Richie (Bronx NY)

have you had to chance to speak to Merchant since his departure...

Dan Rafael
  (12:52 PM)

Yup. We spoke at length the day after the show. We always go over the fights after a day or two later.

corey (westwick)

My top fights I want to see next year Mayweather vs Martinez,Pacquiao vs Marquez 5,Donaire vs Mares(winner gets Rigondeaux) Rios vs Broner

Dan Rafael
  (12:53 PM)

I'm down with that.

Matt (Philly)

Dan, what's your take on the whole Al Bello getting attacked incident? Do any of the state commissions have the power to suspend/penalize Koncz and Buboy for their actions?

Dan Rafael
  (12:55 PM)

Al Bello is one of the single best sports photogs on the planet Earth and a great, great guy. I have known Al for many years. What the Pacquiao people did to him is pathetic and uncalled for. He was doing the job he was assigned to do and accredited to do. Nothing more and nothing less. The commission absolutely has the right to penalize them for it. And Al could have called the cops but didnt.

Sean (Los Angeles)

Dan, do you think Mosely want to fight again or needs the money. Divorces are expensive

Dan Rafael
  (12:57 PM)

I dont think it's money. I think it's boredom and a misguided notion that he can still do it at a high level, which he hasnt for years. Why would he better after the miserable performances against Mora, Mayweather, Pacquiao and Canelo? He is Shane Mosley in name only, not the awesome fighter I covered in his prime when he was the best fighter in the world.

MikeRo72 (Chicago)

Dear Danta Claus, For Christmas all I want is VADA 24/7/365 testing.

The Met (T.O.)

I need to make an observation about the revolving door of Showtime commentators, which I hope you'll comment on. I've always preferred the steady HBO team because they have an actual conversation about the fight taking place in front of them. The Showtime guys simply call the action, and mark out when it gets heated. Just something I've noticed, and one reason I prefer HBO telecasts.

Dan Rafael
  (12:59 PM)

That is a very sophisticated observation and I agree. It is something I have noticed also. Calling the action is important, obviously. But I personally prefer some more of the stories and annecdotes and context of the fight, the fighters, the business, the division, etc... And I think that HBO does more of that that than Showtime.

Dan Rafael
  (1:00 PM)

Klitschko-Povetkin? http://espn.go.com/blog/dan-rafael/post/_/id/2667/klitschko-povetkin-at-long-last

Andre Dirrell (parts unknown)

Dan, will I fight in 2013?

Dan Rafael
  (1:00 PM)

Yes, but will anyone care?

Rick (Marina, Ca)

Whats up Dan, why I am hearing the Ghost is fighter of the year who named him, I thought Donaire was fighter of the year ?

Dan Rafael
  (1:02 PM)

Guerrero is NOT fighter of the year. One reporter in California wrote a column naming him HIS fighter of the year. My ESPN.com fighter of the year piece comes out on Monday and he is not fighter of the year. I would be shocked if he was Ring magazine fighter of the year or BWAA fighter of the year, even though he is on the ballot. Robert had an excellent year and deserves honorable mentions all around but he is not THE fighter of the year in my view and probably in the view of most others.

Brett (Philly)

was Prime Mosley better than Prime De La Hoya or Prime Mayweather?

Dan Rafael
  (1:03 PM)

Prime Mosley beat prime De La Hoya straight up in 2000.

corey (westwick)

I wouldn't mind seeing Larry call a fight or two with Al Bernstien tell me that wouldn't be cool

Dan Rafael
  (1:03 PM)

That would be cool.

Dieter (From Sprockets)

Dan, I am absolutely giddy with the news of your multi-year contract extension with ESPN. Thus, to illustrate my excitement, NOW is the time in the chat when we DANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steve (Kansas)

Haven't seen much reported on this, but from what I have read Manny is being suspended by the NSAC for three months because of how brutal a KO it was. With his election this summer can we assume he will be fighting late next fall at the earliest?

Dan Rafael
  (1:04 PM)

It is stanard for fighters to be medically suspended after knockouts, usually 60 or 90 days. He wasnt going to fight within 90 days anyway so it's not really a story at all. It is normal course of business.

Sean (Los Angeles)

Dan, do you think there will be another legendary nights on HBO. Seems like that would be great for Larry and there were some epic fights since the last one. I would love to see a De La Hoya/Vargas episode

Dan Rafael
  (1:05 PM)

I hope there will be and always encourage HBO to consider it. 10 years have past since the last batch of episodes and there are plenty of fights since then to pick from to make a new series not to mention quality older ones that did not make the first series cut. Larry was the primary writer for the series and I'd love to see him get to work writing more shows.

Rags (NYC)

Can you decipher the WBA double-speak regarding Povetkin-Wlad? When is the fight due? 18 months? 24 months?

Dan Rafael
  (1:06 PM)

I dont know. Povetkin side says 18 months, Klitschko side says 24 months.

Jorge (Texas)

Don't forget Showtime is also still doing that idiotic tweet reading during fights; worst sports watching gimmick since the NBA floor cam.

Dan Rafael
  (1:06 PM)

I'm a Showtime fan but the tweets gotta go, especially DURING the fight.

joe (nh)

have you seen Mike Tysons act yet ?

Dan Rafael
  (1:07 PM)

Not his official show, although because I have interviewed and been around Tyson many times I have heard a lot of those stories either one on one or in a small group. That said, I am hoping to go see his show when he comes to Washington DC in April on the tour.

Bill (PA)

It's funny that Manny can work as a politician with a concussion, but not as a boxer. Maybe that explains our fiscal cliff.

Dan Rafael
  (1:08 PM)

Pay the man, Shirley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dave, NJ [via mobile]

Any word on if HBO BAD will have a new analyst and expert commentator?

Dan Rafael
  (1:08 PM)

Nothing new on that front yet.

jt$ (DC)

I can't believe I'm saying it but I like the showtime tweets, especially when they're from notable people in the fight game or unusually observant fans.

Dan Rafael
  (1:10 PM)

I think you might be the only one, but whatever floats your boat.

O' Shag Hennessey (Da Office)

Were you impressed with the way Khan looked? He let his opponent, a mid level guy at best, hang around for a long time. Seems like his opponents will have a larger window with this style.

Dan Rafael
  (1:10 PM)

I wouldnt say "impressed." He did what he was supposed to do -- he dominated a lightweight who has no power and it took him 10 rounds to get him outta there.

Brian Y (Portland)

Showtime should consider their own Legendary Nights type of series. Corrales-Castillo I, Holyfield-Tyson I/II, Super 6, Norris-Leonard, so many classics.

Dan Rafael
  (1:13 PM)

Agreed. They dont have as deep a history of "legendary" nights but they have some very significant ones, including the ones you mentioned plus fights like Hatton-Tszyu, Chavez-Randall 1 and 2, etc...

Joydeep (Philippines)

Do you think a suspension is a sufficient punishment for team pacquiao for attacking that photographer?

Dan Rafael
  (1:13 PM)

They should also be fined.

Boxingtitan (@twitter)

Hey Dan what's the status on James Kirkland. It seems like he disappeared.

Dan Rafael
  (1:14 PM)

Taking his Winky Wright School of Boxing Business end of semester exams.

Boxingtitan (@twitter)

Dan who's your top 3 Fighter of the Year candidate?

Dan Rafael
  (1:15 PM)

You can read the story on Monday.

Haris Syed Abbasi (Edison, NJ)

Dan, Buy or Sell? Amir Khan is a pay-per-view fighter in 2014

Dan Rafael
  (1:16 PM)

LOL!!!!!!!!!!! SELL ALL DAY LONG. His fight on Showtime last week did less than 700,000 viewers. PPV outta the question unless they want to lose their shirts.

Aaron (Michigan)

Have you looked at the book "At The Fights: Inside the World of Professional Boxing" is it worth getting for a christmas present for a fight freak?

Dan Rafael
  (1:17 PM)

Yes, it's a wonderful book. Truly amazing and I'm not just saying that because I was photographed for it. Absolutely a great book and a great present for a Fight Freak.

Barksdale (Baltimore)

Is there any point in you boxing writers even submitting your IBHOF ballots next year? I think the Calzaghe, De La Hoya, Trinidad votes are about as obvious first-ballot entries as they come.

Dan Rafael
  (1:17 PM)

Yeah, well somebody has to actually cast the votes, so yes.

Richard (Croydon)

I was looking through Boxrec the other day, and came across a fight that was over here a few weeks back. I can't remember who the fighters were, but it was for the "Vacant WBC Youth International Silver" belt. I'm not even kidding

Dan Rafael
  (1:18 PM)

What do you have against vacant wretched WBC Youth International Silver titles???????????????????? COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

jerry (northridge)

Pacman danced gangnam style and get brutal KO, few days later, a man was killed dancing gangnam.. is this coincidence or warning to awful dancers?

Dan Rafael
  (1:18 PM)

A question to ponder.

Ricardo (Bronx, NY)

Showtime does have a much greater slate of APOLOGY NIGHTS, Byrd/Williamson, anything with Ruiz, Spinks/K9...etc...

Dan Rafael
  (1:20 PM)

When Don King was the house promoter in the mid to late 90s and early 2000s, they had a lot of crappy shows for sure. Way too much Frankie Liles, Sharmba Mitchell, Henry Akinwande, Fabrice Tiozzo and Khalid Rahilou.

Brooks (New Hampshire)

Hey Dan - On the mythical matchup front - Do you think Khan could have hung in with Tszyu? I think Kostya would take him out.

Dan Rafael
  (1:21 PM)

BAD fight for Khan.

Matt (Virginia)

What boxer is your disappointment of the year?

Dan Rafael
  (1:26 PM)

There are more than one for sure. The guys busted for PEDs were a disappointment -- Tarver, Peterson, Berto, Morales. Dulorme was a disappointment against Abregu. Kirkland's disappearing act was disappointing. Gary Russell's year was a terrible disappointment. Canelo's utter lack of competition in two fights this year against a 40-year-old shot Mosley and massively undersized Josesito Lopez was very disappointing. Andre Ward fighting only once was disappointing. Gamboa was a huge disappointment for pulling out of the Rios fight and then disappearing for months and then looking bad in his return. I could go on.

dAVID (wORCESTER)

Is the HBO WCB crew going to call the Martinez fight ringside from Argentina?

Dan Rafael
  (1:26 PM)

Yes, from what I am told.

dAVID (wORCESTER)

If Khan's numbers were so bad why did showtime give him multifight contract?

Dan Rafael
  (1:27 PM)

Well he had the deal done before the fight.

Matt M. (Worcester, MA)

Andy Lee finally returns February 9th on the Carl Frampton bill! I am sure you know, but as a huge Andy Lee fan, i am very excited to see him back in action, especially with a new trainer RIP Manny Steward

Dan Rafael
  (1:28 PM)

I wrote a blog on it today should be up soon.

Chris (North Jersey)

Do you ever do to any local club fights when you're not working just for fun?

Dan Rafael
  (1:28 PM)

Yes.

Frankie J (Seattle)

Besides Tyson, was Cus D'Amato famous for training anyone else, and had he lived longer do you think Tyson's career path would have been different??

Dan Rafael
  (1:30 PM)

Yes, Cus also trained Floyd Paterson and Jose Torres, among others.

Rick (San Diego)

Dan, with a May 4th fight date, when do you think we get an announcement on a Mayweather opponent? Late-Januaryish?

Dan Rafael
  (1:31 PM)

Sooner than that.

corey (westwick)

is their any news where in Detroit will the Alexander vs brooks be held? And will you be their to cover that fight?

Dan Rafael
  (1:31 PM)

There are a couple of smaller venues being discussed but it is not set yet. No, I wont be at that card.

Todd (Florence, SC)

It seemed from you blog that Team Klitchko wasn't enthused about fighting Povetkin? Was that your impression? If so, why the heck not? It's an easy win against a fresh opponent and would be big in Germany.

Dan Rafael
  (1:33 PM)

I wouldnt say they arent enthused. I'd say two things -- one they think Sauerland is full of it because K2 has already won two purse bids and the fight didnt happen. And I also think they K2 isnt going to be forced into anything. They'll do things on their terms. That said, I think it's a doable fight if Povetkin and his team are serious about making the match. Klitschko destroys Povetkin anyway. EASY fight.

fred (PA)

Better MSG atmosphere, Cotto fight or Trinidad fight?

Dan Rafael
  (1:34 PM)

Depends which one, but the best atmospheres I have ever been in for boxing at MSG were Tito-Joppy, Tito-Mayorga, Cotto-Judah and Cotto-Margarito 2.

Paul (Philadelphia)

The Alexander/Bradley fight was also in Detroit and did not have a good turnout. Why do they continue to feature Alexander in Detroit?

Dan Rafael
  (1:36 PM)

Bradley-Alexander was 35 minutes from Detroit out in the sticks in Pontiac first off. Second, Alexander-Brook is being added to the card there since it was postponed. The reason the card was put in Detroit in the first place is because K9 Bundrage, who is from Detroit, is defending his belt against Ishe Smith on the show and it was going to be in Detroit before Alexander-Brook was postponed and moved from the original January date in LA.

larry (union city)

Malignaggi-Khan 1 was a one-sided blowout..who in their right mind thinks a rematch would be any different

corey (westwick)

do you think Khans numbers were bad because more people would rather watch the replay of Manny vs Juan plus Larry's last night and Donaire on HBO

Dan Rafael
  (1:37 PM)

Im sure the HBO card on at the same time had something to do with it.

Cory (Albany, NY)

Hey Dan! With the Christmas soon approaching, here is a little song I put together from some boxing headlines this year, sung to the tune of "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire (The Christmas Song)"."Mayweather sitting in a Vegas jailMerchant leaving HBOChavez Jr, a drug test he would failAnd some PED's for BertoEverybody knows that Bradley lost to Manny PacAnd Molina beat KirklandAmir Khan, a good chin he does lackHe'll find it hard to get another winWe know that Broner is the new kingHe's bringing lost of combs and brushes in the ringAnd Don Sulaiman will end the WBCBut first, please pay the sanctioning feeAnd so I'm offering this simple phraseTo boxing fans and family tooAlthough it's been said many times, many waysMerry Christmas, Merry Christmas to you

Dan Rafael
  (1:38 PM)

Now THAT is one true Fight Freak.

damien (pittsburgh)

do you get to pick what fights you get to go to?

Dan Rafael
  (1:38 PM)

Like anything in any writer, it's a discussion with the editors but obviously I have significant input.

David (PWAY)

Better KO PUNCH Martinez-Williams or PacMan-Marquez?

Dan Rafael
  (1:39 PM)

Juanma Lopez is back in action: http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/8767193/juan-manuel-lopez-set-return-ring-feb-2

Jeffrey S (Austin, TX)

Disappointed Martinez never seems to come up anymore in conversations for Mayweather or Canelo. Mayweather is willing to fight cotto at jr mid, why not martinez?

Dan Rafael
  (1:43 PM)

He doesnt come up because those fights are simply not happening or realistic to happen at this point, so why waste our time? Martinez is set for next year. He is fighting Murray on April 27 and then probably Chavez in a rematch in the fall. He aint fightin' Mayweather or Canelo, or more to the poihnt, they aint fighting him. Get over it.

Xiomara (Miami)

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Hes not getting up Jim! Hes not getting up Jim! Hes not getting up!

Dan Rafael
  (1:45 PM)

Yeah.

joe (nh)

do you work out of your house or do you actually show up at an office every morning?

Dan Rafael
  (1:46 PM)

I have an office in my house where I work, but I also travel a lot and work from wherever I am covering an event.

dAVID (wORCESTER)

Odds Mayweather's next fight is on showtime vs. HBO?

Dan Rafael
  (1:46 PM)

Good question. Both companies are hot for the fight. It'll be interesting.

Michael (Brooklyn,NY)

I have a BIG problem with HBO not showing Garcia vs. Khan for their boxing bests for 2012 are you kidding me? Why because Garcia and Khan are now on showtime?

Dan Rafael
  (1:47 PM)

Wouldnt surprise me if that was part of it.

mayan calendar (chichenitza)

The Klitschkos will fight each other in 2013.

Dan Rafael
  (1:48 PM)

And then the world will end right?

Tim (TN)

Dan, I've been fairly critical of Top Rank in the past, but I have to give credit where credit is due. In my opinion, Top Rank promoted the 3 best fights of 2012 with Pacquiao/Marquez IV, Rios/Alvarado and Salido/Lopez II.

Dan Rafael
  (1:49 PM)

All fight of the year contenders.

Wiston (Sacramento )

Do you think Ring's pound for pound inclusion of Broner and Guerrero have anything to do with the fact that they are Golden Boy fighters?

Dan Rafael
  (1:50 PM)

I'd like to think not. I have both ranked in the top 20 but not in the top 10, which is my opinion. They obviously have a different view. But here's the problem -- let's say Ring is totally above board, 100%. The issue is that it is a conflict by the appearance, which is a problem.

joe (nh)

has a fighter ever been real mad at you in person regarding an article you wrote?

Dan Rafael
  (1:51 PM)

Absolutely.

Chris (NYC)

What is the deal with JCC's suspension? Will he fight in 2013 before second fight w/martinez? If so, who?

Dan Rafael
  (1:52 PM)

Suspension has not been handed out yet because Chavez has not yet gone before the commission, which he probably will do in January.

David (Houston)

I can't get the picture of Manny out cold out of my head. Although he seemed fine with it, it was a very sad day for me.

Dan Rafael
  (1:54 PM)

You and many others but that's what happens in boxing. Great fighters get smashed sometimes. It happened to Pacquiao, Roy Jones, Tommy Hearns, Joe Louis, Roberto Duran and many, many others.

joe (nh)

when your at the fights do you ever take time to chat with some of the fight freaks?

Dan Rafael
  (1:55 PM)

All the time except when I am sitting ringside writing after a fight -- that is not a good time to come and chat.

Chris (Los Angeles, CA)

What are the chances we see Gamboa vs Juanma in 2013? I still think it would be a great fight seeing as how Farenas was able to hit Gamboa in his last fight.

Dan Rafael
  (1:56 PM)

I would say highly unlikely.

Rob (New Hampshire)

If and when Broner moves up to 140, how do you think he's fare with Danny Garcia?

Dan Rafael
  (1:57 PM)

I could see that fight possibly happening down the road.

Yinka Double Dare (Chicago)

Dear Showtime: If we wanted to see Tweets during the fight, we'd have Twitter loaded up on our laptops or tablets. Get rid of the Tweets. Signed, 99% of your viewers.

Chris (Los Angeles, CA)

I'd bet you wouldn't have a problem chatting before a deadline if Rachel Cordingley (@rachcordingley).

Dan Rafael
  (1:57 PM)

You got me.

Anthony (san diego)

I saw you ringside after the Rios alvarado fight, you were typing and there was another fight going on, I told my girl where you were and she was said, "you want a picture?" and I said, "The man is working, not the best time".

Dan Rafael
  (1:58 PM)

Exactly.

Duff (Boston, MA)

Someone needs to write a Four Kings like book about the series of fights between Pacquiao, Marquez, Barrera and Morales. I think there were 14 fights between them and only Marquez and Morales have yet to face off with each other.

Dan Rafael
  (2:00 PM)

Good point. I think of the 14 fights I have been at all but Morales-Barrera 1 (was a month beore I started at USA TODAY), Pacquiao-Barrera 1 (USA TODAY would not approve the trip, who's Pacquiao they asked) and Morales-Pacquiao 1 (was supposed to be my first fight for ESPN but I came down a with a terrible flu day before I was supposed to go to Vegas).

Robert (Houston, TX)

Does Marquez have a contract with TR or is he a free agent like Cotto who just works with TR?

Dan Rafael
  (2:01 PM)

Marquez's contract is with Fernando Beltran's Zanfer Promotions, which works very, very closely with Top Rank.

Cal (NY)

Tor Hamer is an awesome name for a heavyweight.

Dan Rafael
  (2:02 PM)

Too bad he is not awesome.

Ralphie (Cleveland)

Where did you work prior to USA Today?

Dan Rafael
  (2:05 PM)

The Press & Sun-Bulletin in Binghamton, NY, where in my 3 1/2 years there I covered the Binghamton Mets Double-A baseball team, college sports and auto racing with a few boxing stories when I could convince my editor.

Dominick (New York)

After a year of fights on NBC Sports, what are your thoughts on the product they are putting out?

Dan Rafael
  (2:06 PM)

I'd say so far so good for the most part but I would like to see a little higher level of fights sometimes. And NO MORE Ronald Cruz please.

Mitch (Beijing)

What's with people saying Nonito isn't deserving of FOY because he's outclassed 4 guys? Isn't that the point? He outclassed 4 top quality guys . . . .

Dan Rafael
  (2:07 PM)

Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Some people are freakin' dumb.

O' Shag Hennessey (Da Office)

Has there ever been a big fight on Christmas Day, other than Rocky vs Drago?

Dan Rafael
  (2:07 PM)

Never thought about it.

All the Freaks (Earth)

Happy Holidays to you. Thanks for all the great chats, tweets, blogs, and articles. Looking forward to more great fights in 2013! As long as the world doesn't end today, of course.

Dan Rafael
  (2:08 PM)

Thanks.

Dave, NJ [via mobile]

If NBC has good ratings tomorrow and CBS does a fight every quarter, could it get ABC involved? You would think they could since they have ESPN fights to pick from.

Dan Rafael
  (2:09 PM)

IF ABC ever got involved it would be run by ESPN and I have not heard that come up, but I guess you never know.

Ryan (Juarez MX)

Dan!!!!!!!Do you consider Glen Johnson a HOFer?? I was saddened by his recent losses

Dan Rafael
  (2:09 PM)

No I dont.

jeff (gilbert, AZ)

Dan,Boxing last weekend was one of the best in a long long time....quantity and quality. On national TV, the internet and cable....I guess boxing really isn't done (sarcasm)

Bk Don (Brooklyn)

Deontay Wilder v Bryant jennings next? Buy or Sell? if they fight who do you like?

Dan Rafael
  (2:10 PM)

Sell.

Larry Merchant (HBO)

DERRICK JEFFERSON !! I LOVE YOU !!

Dan Rafael
  (2:11 PM)

All-time classic.

Oliver (Los Angeles, CA)

Deontay Wilder vs Eddie Chambers. Buy or Sell?

Dan Rafael
  (2:11 PM)

Sell. Eddie has said he is going to move down to cruiser.

Dan Rafael
  (2:12 PM)

Here's my blog on Andy Lee's return: http://espn.go.com/blog/dan-rafael/post/_/id/2677/andy-lee-to-return-after-tough-2012

Dan Rafael
  (2:13 PM)

And here's a new blog on the new Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame: http://espn.go.com/blog/dan-rafael/post/_/id/2675/nevada-gets-own-hall-of-fame

Steven (Chicago)

I just went to lunch about an hour ago. I just caught back up to find you are still going...

Dan Rafael
  (2:14 PM)

Is this a surprise?

Cruiser Boy (TBD)

Will Fast Eddit win a Cruiser title? Seems like a good fight vs. Lebedev.

Dan Rafael
  (2:14 PM)

I think Eddie has a good chance to win a title at cruiser if he gets the chance.

Victor (Chicago, IL)

Is it true a Bradley-PEDerson rematch is being talked about once again for March?

Dan Rafael
  (2:14 PM)

Yes, unfortunately. 1st fight was a Bradley landslide, 11-1 and he scored a knockdown. And it wasn't even that good of a fight. There is NOTHING compelling about a rematch AT ALL. Complete waste of time.

Bruce (Rhode Island)

If more people put away the guns and just box, the world will be a happier place.

Dan Rafael
  (2:15 PM)

Amen.

Henry (Juneau, AK)

U have fight freaks in Juneau!!

John (LA)

Can Larry Merchant go to ESPN or Showtime or Epix, or is he under contract to HBO.

Dan Rafael
  (2:16 PM)

I do not know the specifics of Larry's contract but I would be willing to bet anything that he is not allowed to work for Showtime.

Sun Devil (Los Angeles)

Dan, Happy Holidays! I know this is not boxing related, but everyone should read about Victor Cruz and his visit with the Pinto family. There is more good in this world than there is evil.

Dan Rafael
  (2:16 PM)

I read about that and it choked me up.

Paul (Philadelphia)

Does Sulaiman charge his children and grandchildren sanctioning fees for Christmas presents?

Dan Rafael
  (2:17 PM)

Pay the man, Shirley!! #wbcisdisgusting

Isaac (Oxnard (Ca))

Hey Dan. Watched the latest episode of the Fight Game and thought Lampley and HBO insinuated too much that Marquez used PEDS where there is no evidence. They sure weren't making too much of an issue when their Cash Cow Pacman was being accused of the same thing.

Dan Rafael
  (2:18 PM)

All Lampley discussed was what ever other person has at least thought.

Dave, NJ [via mobile]

Did Azteca ever show the Jessie Vargas fight from 2 weeks ago? I heard he didn't look too good.

Dan Rafael
  (2:19 PM)

No, it didnt.

Charlie (Tampa)

DANta Claus , are you as excited as Garry Russell vs. TBA as I am?

Dan Rafael
  (2:19 PM)

Probably not quite as excited as you are.

Danny (Chicago)

DTM- will we see Donaire vs. Rigo in 2013 ?

Dan Rafael
  (2:20 PM)

I kinda dont think so but I hope so.

David (Cape Canaveral)

Has there been any action regarding Golden Boy doing a series of shows in South Florida?

Dan Rafael
  (2:22 PM)

They have a deal with the arena in Sunrise, Fla., and have the first show (which is on Fox Sports Net and Fox Deportes) in a couple of weeks.

Chris (NYC)

Media is happy highlight dark side of boxers, but would love to see more about the overwhelming good they do...ie: Amir Kahn's charity work, Mayweather's philanthropy and Orlando Cruz's unbelievable courage!

Dan Rafael
  (2:23 PM)

All of those stories are covered.

aaron (michigan)

will Maidana fight on the undercard of Martinez in Argentina?

Dan Rafael
  (2:24 PM)

No.

stuart (reno)

can i get a ten bell count for my job? my boss just caught me chatting

Dan Rafael
  (2:24 PM)

LOL!

corey (westwick)

If Manny has to sit out do you think will see Marquez fight have another fight? And if so it needs to be on American tv

Dan Rafael
  (2:25 PM)

No, I dont think either are fighting again until they fight each other again.

jeff (gilbert, AZ)

Does Tim Bradley have a deal with HBO currently? So many good fights out there for him....

Dan Rafael
  (2:26 PM)

No, he is not under contract to HBO.

Victor (Chicago, IL)

Hasn't been mentioned but I thought the All-Access post-fight Trout-Cotto episode was great, Cottos "This is all I know what to do" line stuck to me like cement.

Dan Rafael
  (2:28 PM)

Agreed, it was very good. I like to see what happens after the fight.

Dan Rafael
  (2:29 PM)

OK Fight Freaks, thanks for chatting today. Make sure to check out all the features, news stories, blogs and rankings updates this week, not to mention the new p4p. Enjoy boxing live on NBC on Saturday and have a great Christmas if you celebrate it. Have a great weekend. Peace.
