Welcome to our Friday afternoon chat. Is this the last one for the regular season? We'll see. Let's chat about the big one in Landover.
Do you think that the Dallas Cowboys will beat Robert Griffin III & the Washington Redskins to Clinch the NFC East?
Yes, I do. I picked them to win, but it wasn't an easy pick. I don't believe the defense will decide this game, the offense, mainly Tony Romo, is going to need have to outplay Robert Griffin III.
RG3 is going to run circles around the cowboys weak defense and gonna throw for 300, no way the cowgirls win.
OK, you might be right.
Do you think Dez should have made the pro bowl
Yeah, he had the numbers, but Calvin Johnson and Brandon Marshall put up bigger seasons. One of the Atlanta receivers had to go, but I question whether or not Victor Cruz did enough. I guess playing in New York helped Cruz more so than Bryant playing for America's Team helped him.
Do you think the cowboys will be looking for a running back in the draft or through free agency?
They better because only DeMarco Murray is expected back. Lance Dunbar (2013) and Phillip Tanner (2014) are bound to return by contract but fell out of favor with coaches and Felix Jones is a free agent. I would think the Cowboys would need to draft one.
DO YOU THINK WE WILL BE ABLE TO RESIGN MIKE JENKINS REMEMBER CARLOS ROGERS SUCKED IN HIS FIRST 4OR5 YEARS I THINK JENKINS CAN BE GOOD
Jenkins doesn't want to return, but the Cowboys might be forced to keep him if there isn't another one of interest in the draft. Jenkins is a good corner, a former Pro Bowler, but his health raises some concerns about whether or not he can finish a season healthy.
thanks for taking time out for us.... I have a good feeling cowboys are going to come out and do there thing and beat the redskins by 10....Romo finally show out this game...
Maybe, I think Romo is the key to this victory.
People are talking about jason garrett's job being on the line. I'm still not sold on him, but i believe he would get fired if and only if dallas walks in and completely rolls over. Would you agree with that?
I don't believe Garrett gets fired. He's got some questionable game management issues, but he runs the team the right way and he holds players accountable. If Garrett gets canned it's only because Jerry Jones hires Sean Payton.
DeMarco Murray is NOT a fumbler , do you think that he is still in a little pain and that is the cause of his latest fumbles . He looked to be in a very physically stressed situation both times IMHO. He is such a quality football player and person for that matter i hate to see him have those kind of problems now.
He's not holding the ball with his foot, Rod. I think two fumbles, the last two weeks, should concern you. But I agree with you he's not a fumbler. Seeing one from him surprises me. Murray said today he's not thinking about the fumbles.
The cowboys are small up the middle so how will they deal with alfred morris this game?
Few teams have handled Morris. Cowboys miss Brent and Ratliff and instead are asking Sean Lissemore to move from defensive end to nose and use an inexperience Rob Callaway at nose tackle. The inside linebackers, I would agree, are small too, it's going to be a difficult game for the run defense.
Is d-ware dealing with a similiar injury that mike jenkins had last year?
I'm not sure, that's a good question. Jenkins had to get his shoulder rebuilt and I don't believe Ware's injury is that serious. It might be similar to Felix Jones' shoulder issue.
Fair to say that win or lose Sunday, the arrow on this team is pointing up?
Not really. That would be three consecutive seasons without making the playoffs. Last man who endured that issue, Dave Campo, was fired. I would say in 2011, the Cowboys were rebuilding, and this year, with the type of roster they have, a nine or 10 win season is realistic. Nine wins doesn't mean you reach the postseason. Cowboys are not rebuilding, but are basically a .500 team.
Why hasn't miles taking advantage more of his one on one's?
It's not about Miles, it's about why doesn't he get the ball. I believe Austin is a solid player, he just isn't making the same amount of big plays as Dez Bryant is.
Whats up with all the off coverage the cowboys have played this year, i thought rob wanted the corners to press that why we got carr and traded up for claiborne?
I would like to see Rob Ryan play more press coverage, but when he plays off, it means he's just rushing with four or five defenders and he doesn't want to get beat deep by the offense. The Cowboys allowed too many big plays in 2011 so Ryan doesn't want that to happen in 2012. I would like to see him blitz more in the Redskins game on Sunday night.
this is a must win for cowboys, and i see the defense keeping us in this game...
Really, I'm surprised you said that. I think the offense is the key. It's going to need to win the game, in spite of the defense.
do you think the cowboys will be better prepared for RG3 this time around? on thanksgiving they only had 3 days to prepare for him
Yeah, they should be better this go around. RG3's knee issues might slow him down some, so the Redskins might depend on him to win the game more with his arm and ask Morris to take over. Cowboys defense is struggling right now, not sure if they can stop the run or the big plays.
calvinif romo dones not win this game agaist washington do you think dallas will give a 4 year contact or draft a QB in april draft. you know calvin romo it's 32 thats old for a QB. calvin want do think dallas sould do on the off season if dallas lose to the redskins on sunday.
Romo deserves a new contract, maybe a three-year contract extension. If he wins this game and gets the Cowboys into the postseason, Jerry Jones might give Romo a long-term deal, five to six years to retire as the quarterback of the Cowboys. Can you deal with that?
Is it now or never for Tony Romo?
Not really, because he's not going anywhere.
WOuldn't it make sense for Rob Ryan to throw many blitzes @ RG3 to test that wheel?
I think RG3 is fine, maybe not 100 percent, but few players are in December. I have this feeling Ryan won't blitz as much to make sure the Redskins don't get big plays.
Seriously.. RG3 has only two 300 yard passing games this year (one vs the Saint and 1 vs the Cowboys)and 6 games with 200 or fewer yards. He is 21st in the league in passing and everyone is talking about needing to stop him. Shouldn't the focus be on stopping the running game (what the redskins are good at) while not allowing the big play?
Yep, I agree. Redskins rank second in rushing first downs (127) and touchdowns (18) and have 76 rushes of 10 or more yards. Stopping Alfred Morris is the key here.
Just for you Calvin- LOL . Pain in your foot can make you drop your arms if it is wenched hard enough , believe me . But funny none the less. You get hit hard enough you can crap your pants . This i don't know . LOL
LOL, Rod. I don't think his foot is the problem. He just lost the ball inside the red zone against the Steelers and last week vs. the Saints, he got stripped and his body was twisted.Murray wasn't in a lot of pain. If he's in that much pain, he wouldn't be out there.
I really think the CB's will win this one.....they were down 5 starters during the Thanksgiving game.
Maybe. But it's hard to stop the run and the big passing attack.
If JG returns next year is Rob Ryan still the D coordinator? And if not then who?
If JG returns, which I believe he will, then yes, Rob Ryan will return, unless he gets a head coaching gig.
Calvin - respectfully disagree w/ ur opinion. I think the skins run for over 200 yds in this one. Cold weather, cowboys D soft in the middle. DOn't think Romo is key; he'll have a good game. But can't win if D can't stop em.
It's going to be cold, but it's not the Ice Bowl here.
Do you think that the Mr.Ryan will use Ware for only on third downs to help protect his shoulder from being injured anymore?
I believe Ware will be an every down player in this game. Victor Butler is nursing a groin injury and he would replace Ware. I'd rather have a less than 100 percent DeMarcus Ware than a 70 percent Victor Butler on most downs. Ware should be fine.
Calvin, Happy New Years & belated Christmas. Do you see Dallas offering Dez and extended contract in the newar future?
Not right now. He might have to play this contract out.
With the Cowboys facing salary cap issues, is Ratliff going to be cut or re-structure his deal?
First glance, I'd say cut, saves $1 million, but he might restructure, to lower his cap number.
How are you guy are getting ready to play outside?
Let's be honest, it's not like the Redskins have played in zero degree temps here. Is it going to be cold in Landover? Yep. Can the Cowboys handle it? I'm sure.
I got my boys in a upset win or the redskins what you think calvin??
I agree with you Ricky, take the Cowboys in a high-scoring game.
Calvin, newar should have been near. What positions should the boys draft next year?
DE, OLB, RB, S, G
If the Dallas Cowboys Beat the Redskins & Clinch the Division, Do you think that they will play in Super Bowl XLVII?
Chris, Have you been drinking?
The weather is supposed to be windy and cold on Sunday. Do you think that helps the cowboys since it should offset the ridiculous speed advantage the skins have on offense?
If the conditions are cold and windy, Redskins will run the ball, that's what you do in bad conditions. The field at FedEx Field has been deemed terrible, so expect a running attack. Redskins have one of the best run games in the business.
Who do you think starts at the other safety position with Sensabaugh? Peprah, Frampton, or McCray?
I'd say Peprah. However, based on what the Cowboys see on the first possession you could see Frampton, but Ryan will play both of these guys.
Thanks for the chat everybody. Let's talk soon.
