Happy New Year everybody! Let's get it started!

Martin (NY)

What's the Giants projected cap situation? Are we going to have more room to be active in free agency than the past couple offseasons?

Ohm
  (1:01 PM)

Martin, I don't know what the cap situation is yet but I would not be surprised if they are right up on it again. I would not be surprised to see them try to restructure a few deals or release some vets who are making a nice amount. But the Giants usually do not have a ton of cap space to move around with.

pete (dc)

two questions..... does Marvin Austin get first shot next year in rotation with unlikely return of Rocky Bernard? And over under that Jerry Reese goes DL at the 19th pick?....thanks

Ohm
  (1:02 PM)

Pete, I think that is the Giants' hope, that Marvin is ready to move up into the rotation. But it became clear that they did not think he was ready to assume a bigger role this season so we will have to see. As for the draft pick, still very early but if I had a gun to my head right now, I'd say defensive line is a very strong possibility.

Fanfave (NYC)

Can we finally get an impact LB?

Ohm
  (1:03 PM)

FF, I just think Jerry is going to go with best player available and often times that is a DL at 19. I believe they value D-lineman more than an impact LB.

Nick (Phoenix)

Giants don't seem to have money to spend on new players so why not just cut players such as Bradshaw, Tuck and Webster to make room for young guys

Ohm
  (1:05 PM)

Nick, you may see some vets released. But I don't think they are cutting Tuck. They value their defensive ends. As much as Web struggled, they need a veteran CB. I think they may try to restructure his deal. Bradshaw kept talking like a guy very uncertain about his future. So we will have to see about Bradshaw. Boley also saw reduction in his PT so that might be a sign of things to come for Boley. And there's Diehl as well.

Thomas (Oh Canada)

Does having a second ring make some starters less hungry to play every week?

Ohm
  (1:05 PM)

I asked that question and they all said no of course. But they were certainly missing something in Baltimore and Atlanta. You can't rule it out.

Ricky (Mexico)

Who are the giants top target in the offseason? Hopefully Marty B, a CB and OL

Ohm
  (1:07 PM)

Ricky, they need to re-sign Will Beatty and Martellus Bennett among their own FAs. And then whether it is through draft or FA, they need another corner and OL is a concern. Boothe is also a FA. Brewer may be next at RT.

Jose Perez (Paterson, New Jersey)

What do you believe is the most important position the Giants need to upgrade this off season OL or DB?

Ohm
  (1:08 PM)

Jose, depends on what happens with FAs Beatty and Boothe. If both come back, I can see them moving Brewer up but Diehl could restructure. But they do need another young OL. Cornerback is important too but I can see Webster and Prince returning as the starters.

Charlie (NJ)

What are the chances Marc Ross will be with Giants through the Draft?

Ohm
  (1:08 PM)

Charlie, no idea. He has reportedly has four interviews coming up with Jax, SD, CAR and the Jets. We'll see.

Matt (Garden State)

who do you believe the giants will target in the first round? I would love for them to get a Linebacker but I see JR getting a DE/DT

Ohm
  (1:09 PM)

I have no idea and I don't even think they hae an idea right now yet. But I'd be willing to bet more on a DL than a LB. Depends on who is there.

Mike (NY)

1 guy on the roster you'd be shocked is still here come September? 1 guy you think has a chance to be cut that is going under the radar now?

Ohm
  (1:11 PM)

I'd be a bit surprised if Osi is back only because he says he wants to start and go elsewhere. As for who may be cut, there are a lot of options there. I wonder what will happen with Boley after his playing time got reduced drastically in final two games.

Joe (Jersey )

how do you think the rookies did this year? wish we got Randle more involved earlier. They look like future stars

Ohm
  (1:12 PM)

I think they developed as the season progressed. Wilson slowly earned their trust but he still needs to get better at pass protection and stronger. Randle, I think, needed the time to get to where he got to by season's end. I think there is still a learning curve for both so be patient. Hosley got some valuable experience and should get better because of it.

joe (Ny)

will kenny phillips be back and what are the chances andre brown and or stevie brown arent?

Ohm
  (1:13 PM)

I think Giants will try to bring Kenny back at the right price. I believe Stevie and Andre will be back. They are both restricted FAs.

Martin (NY)

The RB situation looks a bit murky right now. If you had to guess who the starting back will be on opening day, would you pick Wilson?

Ohm
  (1:14 PM)

If the Giants bring Bradshaw back, I can see them starting either Bradshaw or Wilson. But either way, I expect Wilson to get more snaps. Brown could even be an option to start if he is fully recovered.

Martin (NY)

Osi seems likely to leave. Could you see Tuck following him out?

Ohm
  (1:14 PM)

I think Tuck is staying.

Ohm
  (1:14 PM)

I think Tuck is staying.

Fanfave (NYC)

Is beatty the answer at LT?

Ohm
  (1:14 PM)

I believe so. But he is a FA. They need to re-sign him. He was solid as a starter.

pete (dc)

Giatns go Dline at the 19th pick and take care of Oline via FA market....agree??

Ohm
  (1:15 PM)

They could go D-line in draft and then re-sign Beatty and Boothe and then maybe Brewer moves up and they sign or draft another OL. And Diehl may need to restructure. But who knows...

I LIKE TACOS (BROOKLYN NY)

was the recent uptick in jernigan's playing time a result of the team wanting to see what the younger guys have at the end of the season or can we expect to see him featured a lot more next year? i think he can be our desean jackson.

Ohm
  (1:17 PM)

Tacos, I think it was a little team wanted to see what younger guys can do and Hakeem was banged up. Now as for being Giants' DeSean Jackson, I don't know about that. We haven't seen anything to really suggest that yet. But I would like to see him get more snaps. It's time next year. If Barden doesn' return, Jernigan is next guy up after Cruz, Nicks, Randle and then maybe Hixon.

Pete (DC)

Jake Long (Dolphins) reportedly going to be a FA. Could u see the Giants going after him? Putting him at RT along with signing Beatty would make the Giants very strong in the Oline.

Ohm
  (1:18 PM)

I would expect Long to command a lot of money. Do you see the Giants pouring in a ton of money on a OL UFA? Remember, they got to re-sign Beatty and Boothe, give Cruz a raise, and Nicks will up after next season. And you have to remember down the road they have to lock up JPP.

Ian (Upstate NY)

Sup Ohm, hey man whats the word with terell thomas this coming year? how long do you think we'll keep him around if he cant ever seem to get healthy?

Ohm
  (1:20 PM)

Giants have an option with his contract and I expect them to terminate the existing deal. Now could they bring him back for a one-year deal or a cheaper deal and see if he can come back again. Yes. That is a possibility. But remember, this is his third knee injury. I love the guy but keep expectations to a minimum. If he can come back, that would be a nice story but I don't think you should count on it.

Eli Manning (NY)

Do you think the Giants will get me a back brace for carrying to team all season?

Ohm
  (1:21 PM)

Even Eli knows he could have played better this past season. He missed some big plays and some throws but he needed some help. A banged up Nicks really hurt him. And no third receiving threat.

I LIKE TACOS (BROOKLYN NY)

yeah i know he hasnt played much but i was just making the comparison based on their size and speed. im reaching i know. lol

Ohm
  (1:22 PM)

Pump the brakes Taco. LOL

Dude (Dallas)

Whats up with JPP low sacks? I thought he was on track to become leagues best

Ohm
  (1:22 PM)

I think it had to do with more attention from offenses and a little of the scheme. But yeah, he needs to rack up more sacks.

Danny (GMEN 4 LIFE)

You think Ojomo and Adrian Tracy will get steady snaps next season?

Ohm
  (1:26 PM)

Not sure Danny. I'd like to see them have roles next season but you never know. I think, if Osi leaves, you will see rotation of JPP, Tuck and Kiwanuka and then maybe Ojomo or Tracy could be 4th DE if there isn't a first-round pick or something like that.

Ohm
  (1:26 PM)

Sorry I got knocked off line...

Pete (DC)

Your grade on the past draft of Jerry Reese, Wilson, Randle, Hosley and the kid Kuhn (NCS DT) who showed promise but got hurt late...?

Ohm
  (1:27 PM)

Pete, I may do that sometime in the next few weeks in the Giants blog! Stay tuned!

Ohm
  (1:28 PM)

Thanks for the chat questions guys! Appreciate it. See you all next week!

Ohm
  (1:28 PM)

Not sure Danny. I'd like to see them have roles next season but you never know. I think, if Osi leaves, you will see rotation of JPP, Tuck and Kiwanuka and then maybe Ojomo or Tracy could be 4th DE if there isn't a first-round pick or something like that.
