We'll have CC Sabathia chatting here in a few minutes!
Because I'm the best in the game. There has never been a pitcher or a Yankee on the cover.
So, why should you be on the cover of The Show this year?
Are you a big gamer?
I am. I play a lot. I play The Show. I play 2K13. My wife doesn't let me play Call of Duty because my son is 13. We play Madden every night.
I know it is far more prevalent in football, but do ever receive criticism or other comments from people who have you on their fantasy team?
Yeah, a lot of people tell me I'm pitching for them this week. Fantasy baseball is just as popular, but people just don't talk about it as much.
Hey CC, who would you vote for to get in the Hall of Fame this year?
Jack Morris, definitely. Piazza, Bagwell. Clemens, Bonds. Lee Smith, when he retired, he had the most saves in the game.
What do you think should be done with all of the best players from the steroid era? Should they be allowed into the hall?
I think so. I think guys put up the numbers, they should be in there.
What would it mean to you to grace the cover of MLB '13: The Show?
It would be a dream come true. Being a gamer and an athlete, as a kid that's something you think about. I'm honored to be in a position to possibly be on the cover and be in a position to win.
My sister lives in Vallejo, California so big ups to you C.C.! I was just wondering what your personal goals (stats) were for this year with the team?
Just to stay healthy. I usually don't ever set numbers goals or innings or K's or wins. If I stay healthy, the rest of the stuff will take care of itself. If I start 35 games, the numbers will be there.
what is you take on now that nobody is in the hall of fame for this year your thoughts...
I think it's tough. I'm glad I don't have a vote to make that kind of decision. There are some great players out there.
Who is your least favorite batter to face? (Can't cheat and say a guy with the bases loaded or something like that)
I guess Cabrera is a tough out. I guess...I mean, he won the Triple Crown. He's probably the toughest out right now.
how hard was it to give up Captain Crunch? Sugary cereals are my vice.
It was tough. But I'm just trying to stay healthy and make all of my starts. I'm doing what I have to do. I haven't totally given it up yet.
With today being Hall of Fame day, how often do you think about your own chances for Cooperstown? Is it hard not to think about being on the Yankees, surrounded by their rich history? Your statistics seem more than worthy, especially since you may be last potential 300 game winner we see for awhile.
I don't really think about it. It's not something that I think about. I just want to stay healthy and make my starts. I can't control making the hall of fame. I'd be lucky to make it, but it's not something I think about. It feels weird, because people start asking that question and I still feel young.
Do you ever pick up stuff from watching pitchers on other teams?
Yeah, I do. I don't really watch video of other guys, but I watch games. I'll watch the west coast games after one of ours and see how they attack guys. I don't have the stuff of Price and Lester, but it's fun to watch how they attack guys.
Kershaw, I like to watch a lot because he's out west. And lefty.
Super Bowl picks?
I'm going 9ers and Patriots.
As much as I hate the 49ers, I just think they're the best team.
With the Patriots winning it.
do you think that a rod will be back this year if he get back in time or maybe before the season is up or you thin he will set out and rest for next season or might retired from baseball after he has he's other side of the hip surgery done....
You have to approach it with the guys you have. Hopefully he's able to get healthy and help us. You have to go with who you have. We had some adversity with injuries last year. Mo went down. Whoever is playing third, Youkilis, Nunez, we'll go out and try to win that game and play hard until he gets back.
I know you probably get asked this a lot, but how good at basketball are you? I imagine you are a bruiser like an Elton Brand was in his prime.
Yeah, like a bruiser down low, for sure. I played high school basketball, we had a good team. I still enjoy playing in the offseason. I love watching and playing hoops.
I don't know how good I am.
Who's the best non-Sabathia gamer on the Yankees?
The two guys that aren't here any more, Martin and Swish. Brett Gardner would be a close second.
Vote for me for The Show cover!
