Here to take some questions. Remember, First Take College Basketball edition is at 4:30 p.m. on ESPNU and then again 9:30 a.m. Saturday on ESPNU.
Any chance a Boston area school will be invited to join the new league formed by the Catholic schools of the Big East - Boston is the 7th largest TV market - Holy Cross, perhaps?
I don't see it. I don't see an option in the Boston market.
NCAA Investigations seem to hold less weight every day. First they brush off major UNC issues, then we have this Miami fiasco. Is there recourse if they cost these programs wins in a faulty investigation? (See: Syracuse Southerland witchhunt)
No. But keep in mind the Southerland situation is a Syracuse situation not NCAA.
How about them Southern Miss Golden Eagles?
Donnie Tyndall is doing a tremendous job. He and his predecessor Larry Eustachy are doing two of the best jobs in a first year at a school this season.
Is Wake Forest getting better, or is NC State just that overrated?
I think it's a combination of both. NC State hasn't been able to be consistent defensively. It is a major problem. This UNC game now is as important as the Duke game. NC State has to win this game. And yes, Wake has improved.
Who who you rather have on your team, Nate Wolters or Ben Woodside?
Wolters is the better pro prospect but Woodside was a big-time winner. I'll still lean on Wolters because he has to do more for South Dakota State than Woodside had to do for North Dakota State.Love the Jackrabbits and Bison.
What do the Baylor Bears need to do to get back to the Elite 8 again this year? Do you think they'll do it?
My concern is that this team doesn't defend as well as the Elite Eight team as a year ago. This Baylor team hasn't been as consistent and as wiry and athleic as Jefferson and Austin are they do lack the experience and reliability in the post from Acy.
Andy, it seems like the media is holding back a bit on New Mexico despite its resume. What do the Lobos have to do to get into that "top-tier" conversation this year? Would wins @SDSU and @Wyoming do that?
Possibly. But I'm not. Watch First Take and see how Seth and I debated whether or not you would take the Lobos or the field in the MWC.
Hi Andy, what are your thoughts on Florida State they were lucky to beat Clemson last night they just don't look like a tournament team to me your thoughts
Just get the ball to Michael Snaer late. He has hit three of those shots. I'll take my chances with him. Seriously, the Seminoles are just not as experienced overall and lack the interior scoring.
Do think it's possible that both Wichita State and Creighton could get a 4 seed or higher in the NCAA tournament? What was your thoughts on last Saturdays game between these two teams?
I'm not ready to assign seeds yet but I think both will be in the NCAA tournament and be seeded decently.
How does Boise State need to finish in conference and in the conference tournament to have a legitimate at large chance for NCAA tournament? Or do you think they may be better suited for the NIT since they are still such a young team?
Boise is still in play. There is a lot of hoops left for the Broncos and they can still make it very interesting in the conference. Losing at home to UNM in OT didn't help but there are other opportunities. I still really like the resume.
With Kentucky's loss to Alabama, are they officially on the outseide looking in?
Way too early to say that.I still think the Wildcats will be in play for a bid. This team is too talented and there are too many opportunities for the Wildcats to be on the outside. I know the resume doesn't scream top 100 wins but there is still time. Remember, you have to fill the field!
Andy, very worried about Minnesota after 3 straight L's. Their effort and body language was terrible against Northwestern, and Tubby was badly outcoached. How worried should Gopher fans be? Another mid-season collapse for Tubby?
I would be too but this team still has more veteran leadership than the previous ones and more talent. This Wisconsin game is a huge turning point for the team. I picked the Gophers to win.
Why is KU unwilling to play WSU? It's not like it would hurt the RPI.
Because they don't have to. Bill Self was pretty clear about that to me.
Will Ole Miss continue to sit atop the SEC or will the next 3 games cause them to stumble? @Auburn, UK, @Florida
I'll say the Rebels go 2-1 during that stretch. I'm starting to believe in this team and I'm on board with Marshall Henderson.
Should I stay at Wichita State if "Big" programs come a calling?
It depends on who is calling. He has a high-level job.
He shouldn't take a power six job just to take one. It has to be the right fit.
Should Kelly Olynyk be considered a strong contender for NPOY?
Yes. He is in the hunt for first team all-American and has replaced Mason Plumlee for me in terms of importance to his team.
What are a couple of Bracketbuster match-ups would you like to see?
Funny you should ask. I was looking at the list today. The one that will definitely happen barring something going awry will be Creighton at Saint Mary's.
If Lehigh continues to play the way they've been playing since CJ McCollum's injury, is there any chance Dr. Brett Reed enters the national coach of the year conversation?
He would have to be considered (although I don't think he would win). But he has done a sensational job adjusting to the loss of McCollum. The win at Bucknell should go down as one of the best road wins this season. It is up there with Illinois winning at Gonzaga and Boise at Creighton. I would put it in the top three to four.
UNLV has no bad losses and is starting to play a lot better. How far do you think they can go in the tournament?
This is definitely a second-weekened team.
Do you read every question submitted or is it of such a volume that you must skim to keep up?
I have to skim. It's not like there are 1000 but when there are close to 200 I have to skim and pluck out some.
Should Iowa State be concerned after losing to Texas Tech or do you think it was just a small blip this season?
I would be. The Texas Tech loss was not good TV. Kansas State has a good shot (see First Take) to go into Hilton and win.
What has to happen for Mizzou to get back on track and contend to advance to the second weekend? Is Bowers that important to the team?
Yes he is. He's the most important player.
Michigan struggled with Purdue for a half before finally putting them away. While there is no clear "best" team at this point, do you think they have a better case for No. 1 ranking over Kansas, if the Wolverines win at Illinois Sunday? What is the ceiling for this team?
The national title.
