Geno is here!
What kind of work are you doing leading up to the draft?
I'm working out at IMB Academy. They have a really good program there. They have mental conditioning, strength training, the works. I'm just working hard and getting better.
What's the atmosphere like down there in New Orleans?
The atmosphere is great. With Mardi Gras and all of that, there are a lot of festivities. There are a lot of people working down here. Overall it's just great.
Will you put the pop warner kids through any drills that you might do yourself?
Yes, I will be doing that on Saturday. Helping those kids out, doing drills.
Geno. Would you be comfortable sitting behind a guy like Eli Manning or Tom Brady for a couple of years to learn the ropes or would you like to go to a worse team and start right away?
I want to start, but I'll do what's best for the team. If it means sitting behind a veteran for a year or two, I can do that. But I'm going in to compete to the best of my abilities.
favorite memory of WVU?
I have several. I think my favorite one is the Orange Bowl last year, because we had a record breaking performance. It was a once in a lifetime chance to play in front of my family and my hometown.
Is there anything you can learn about the Super Bowl experience while you're down there? Something you can take with you into your career?
Overall, you're going to learn by going through it. Just being able to see how the guys interact and the schedule they have. It's a great opportunity in of itself.
How unique was it playing it in the Pinstipe Bowl with snow, sleet, or freezing rain the entire game?
It was everything I expected. I dealt with that my entire career at WVU. Overall, I wish we could have performed better, but it wasn't different playing in the inclement weather.
What part of your game are you most looking to improve in the coming months/year?
There is no one part in particular, but as a whole. Every year I try to get better in everything and get better at every level.
What are you looking forward to the most during this draft process?
I look forward to allowing coaching staffs and the fans see who I am. I don't think they really were able to get to know me at WVU, other than the highlights on SportsCenter. I want to show them why I am so driven and play so hard.
Which Professional QB in the NFl, past or present, do you look up to the most?
Pretty much all of them. The NFL, especially at QB, it really is a fraternity and it's an elite group. I try to really look at the guys that have proven themselves, the greats, Manning, Brady, Elway and how they've carried themselves on and off the field.
how did you get involved with this clinic?
Pop Warner is something that's always been a part of my life. I played youth football down in Miami. I always wanted to be involved and give back and now I have the opportunity.
What is your best memory from playing at Mountaineer Field?
The best memory was just how dedicated the fans were to the Mountaineers. They came out to the game and showed support and made it tough for the other teams.
Why do you think west virginia struggled in the second half of the season?
The biggest thing was consistency throughout the entire season. We weren't as consistent as we needed to be. We were in some close games and one or two plays could have pulled the game in our direction. It was a tough learning experience.
It seems pretty likely that you will be drafted to the Arizona cardinals. what are your thoughts on what you could bring to an offense that struggled mightily last season?
Throughout my career, I've always been productive. So I would say I can bring production to the field. I'm a hard worker. I am dedicated. I believe I can lead by example. I think I can bring that to any team.
Geno, do you still keep in contact with guys like Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey during this time? How different could it be not playing with Bailey after your history together?
Yes, we keep in contact often. They are some of my closest friends. Once we're on separate teams, I don't think it will be any different. We all make each other better. I look forward to seeing where they end up.
Do you believe you deserve to be teh first QB drafted?
Yes I do, not only because of my production, but because how I've prepared myself. I'm a proven leader. Whichever team drafts me gets a guy who wants to win. I will be the first guy to step up to the plate and take responsibility for anything.
Chip Kelly...do you think you could perform in an offense like his?
I think that's something that I bring to the table that a lot of people don't know. I perform in the pocket, but I can do things with my legs. I can create some matchup advantages. But the fact that I am athletic guy and can do some things that are trendy in the league right now.
I love all you fans!
Thanks for chatting Geno!
