Sorry for the short chat today. Slammed with a lot of news today.
What happens to Louisville and Cincinnatti next year with the Catholic-7 taking their ball and going home?
Louisville stays with the old Big East for one season. Can't go to ACC until 2014. Cincinnati is stuck, hoping to get to the ACC.
Andy, what do you make of what Joe Harris is doing at UVA this season? Is he now firmly in the discussion for ACC POY?
I'd say ACC player of the year is either Joe Harris or Shane Larkin.
Why the hate on Illinois? Not from you but from in particular Joe Lunardi. Illinois as a 10 seed? Come on
Body of work. I don't hate on Illinois. I don't hate on anyone!
Does Boise State make the tournament and if so what do you feel their ceiling is seeding wise? Do they jump to the 5, 6, or 7 line if they win 2 out of last three or possibly all three?
Boise State can control its destiny. The Broncos have a legit shot to get into the field if they can win two of the next three games or come up with a quality win in the MWC tournament.
So what will the remants of the Big East (UCONN, Temple, etc.) now call themselves, The Big Least?
No idea on a name yet.
What do you think the chances are the Jayhawks get a #1 seed, and why is Duke a projected #1 seed when they are 2 games behind in their conference?
No longer protected. I don't see Duke getting a No. 1 anymore. Kansas can and may if it wins the Big 12.
Andy: So any idea what conference do you see UCONN ending up in? This UCONN team is FUN to watch!!
Right now the Huskies are stuck. They're hoping to get into the ACC at some point.
Andy do you agree with Joe having Kansas as 1. How can a team that lost to TCU get a 1 over the Big East Champ? Not to mention they really don't have a better resume then Georgetown or Louisvile
I wouldn't rule out the Big East champ getting a 1 seed. This is still very fluid over the final two weeks.
Richmond or Creighton for the C7's 10th spot after Butler and Xavier? What does your gut / sources tell you?
At this point I would say probably Creighton. I like Richmond for other reasons -- proximity -- but Creighton wins out with facilities and fan base.
Much has been made of the poor officiating at the end of the KU/ISU game. This is classic short-sighted thinking. If conferences start reviewing end-of-game calls, when will they review calls earlier in the game? ISU shot more FTs than they had 2-pt attempts.
The whole game was reviewed, not just the end of the game.
If VCU wins Saturday, are they in the field of 64 regardless of the outcome in the A10 tourney?
Who is the best player in college basketball, at the moment?
I think the most valuable player is Victor Oladipo. The best talent may be Marcus Smart.
Andy, Next year Utah State moves into the Mountain West. After two sub-par years by USU standards, how do you see them competing in a much higher-lever conference than what they've ever played in?
I wouldn't doubt Stew Morrill. He has consistently been a winner. I think he'll get it done in the MWC.
Andy,Long time reader and fan. I was wondering what your feelings are concerning the Friars chance at an at-large bid. If they win their remaining three (St Johns, Hall, at Uconn), would that be enough with 1 win in the BE Tourney? That would put them at 19-13 (10-8 or 11-9), as well as 9-2 in their last 11 in the mighty BE. The Cincy win doesn't look as good anymore but they were #17 at the time and coming off 5 straight wins.
Providence has to come up with a few more wins in the Big East tournament against the top teams. It's a long shot but the Friars are my sleeper team to make a deeper run in New York.
Do you think Gonzaga has locked up a spot playing in Salt Lake City for the first weekend of the tourney regardless if they are a 1 seed or 2 seed?
Yes. A lock.
True or false? With the Lobos' offense starting to click, they look like an Elite 8 worthy team over the past couple of weeks.
How much do you think the selection committee will take into account the fact that Yueguete was out for all three of Florida's losses in SEC play?
A fair amount. Florida can still get a No. 1 seed.
Just say something about the Gophers...... Anything......
I want to believe in this team -- if it plays like it did against Indiana with that same passion.
speaking of sleeper teams, what's your take on Tennessee? How much work would they have to do to get an at-large bid?
My sleeper to win the SEC tournament in Nashville.
