How Many Compensentary Picks will the Giants have in the 2013 NFL Draft?
Not sure yet. That will be official I think sometime in March. But off the top of my head, they lost Manningham and Aaron Ross last year in free agency so we'll see.
A bunch of overated losers!!!I can't wait until March to see these clowns eliminated!!!!
1-14. 'nuff said.
Ohm. Do you think the giants released to many quality players to. Be really successful. Next season? Did not realize this many would. Have to go.
We'll see. But they have done this in the past and been successful. Depends on how free agency and the draft shakes out. No reason to panic right now.
With Beatty locked up now, who do you expect the Giants to move onto next? Cruz?
Cruz is up there. But I think they need to perhaps clear a bit more space and then try to re-sign Kevin Boothe. Cruz can always be tendered as an RFA if they don't come to a contract extension. Martellus is up there as well.
What are the giants chances of getting Mingo from LSU?
Lawrence, I think he's been projected to go in top 10. But you never know, somebody can always drop.
New reports indicate Bennett will hit the open market, why are the Giants not as interested in bringing him back? Seemed like he was a huge upgrade to Boss or Ballard, and I think he was way under utilized down the stretch last season. I believe in Pope and his ability to create solid TEs, but bring Bennett back!
Josh, the Giants are interested in bringing him back. But they want to bring him back at their price. So Bennett is going to probably see what he is worth on the market, which I would do the same as well. But just because he is hitting the market doesn't mean the Giants don't want him back. They just have a certain amount they are willing to pay for him. And you made a great argument for why they won't overpay for a tight end. They feel they can plug in a new guy and still be successful there.
Hello Ohm, do you think the Giants will look for an upgrade over Andre Brown as the second RB or are they happy with him in that role?
Dan, hi. I think they feel comfortable with Wilson and Brown and then probably bring a veteran back like Torain behind Da'Rel Scott.
Was Eli Mannings season last year a true portrayal of his ability or was it because the Offensive Line was weak and Hakeem Nick's injury?
I think Eli is a mixture of what we saw in 2011 and last year. Sometimes he makes big-time plays, and sometimes we have to expect that he may be off a bit. But the Nicks injury was a major major issue. So I expect Eli to be closer to 2011 than last year with a healthy Nicks.
If we don't resign Unicorn, could you see us bringing in another TE like Jermichael Finley or do you think we'd draft a rookie (like the Stanford or ND TE)?
I suspect Jermichael will cost too much. And I don't expect the Giants to use a first round pick on a tight end.
Do we have any injuries that will linger into training camp and so on?
Perhaps. Chris Snee (hip), David Baas (numerous body parts), Hakeem Nicks (knee and foot), Andre Brown (leg), Terrell Thomas (knee) just to name a few.
Do you think the Giants will re sign Kevin Boothe?
Matt, yes, my guess is they will re-sign Boothe.
Whats good bro! What's the deal with Tuck and the Giants not asking him to restructure is contract? The dude has done nothing the past 2 years but complain and not recover from injuries. Why do we want to bring him back? Can't be leader ship because I don't see it on the field or in games ever. Next one is Webster - Don't cut him but this year was so disgusting and all of it is not his fault because our Dline couldn't sniff a QB. But 7mil? bro you know your not worth that money.
Tuck is entering the final year of his deal. He has certainly earned the right to return at $4.5 million with what he has done in the past. Plus, the Giants believe in paying their pass rushers. Defensive ends are a valuable commodity to them. Not easy to find. They are banking on Tuck to rebound in a contract year. He's battled through injuries. If you restructure, you have to add on more years and work out a new deal. So if you do that with Webster, who is entering final year of his deal, you have to likely work out a new contract. I think they are waiting to see what happens in free agency. They don't have much else behind Webster, Prince and Hosley at corner.
Cb or pass rusher in the early rounds of the draft?
I would definitely say so Tyler. OL as well.
Will the Giants re sign me, the great Unicorn?
I think so unless Unicorn hits the jackpot elsewhere in free agency.
Are the Giants really talking to Nicks about an extension?
Giants like to keep this stuff close to the vest but I think they would like to lock him down to an extension. Nicks is entering the final year of his deal so it definitely makes sense.
Do you see the Giants tageting OL in the 1st? Cooper or Fuker?
OL, DL, CB are my three top priorities for Giants in first round. They can use a LB but they don't tend to draft LBs in first round.
Who do you as being more important in the long term, Cruz or Nicks?
Both are equally important in my book. But just think about how the Giants have approached things in the past. You can probably make an argument that they think Nicks is slightly more important given how hard it can be to find a playmaking threat on the outside. Cruz has been terrific but I can see the Giants making an argument that they have had success with slot guys like Steve Smith and then Cruz and they probably will say that while they want to keep Cruz for many more years to come they could say they can develop another slot guy under Eli like they have with Smith and Cruz. That's what I think the Giants think.
You think terrell Thomas will have any impact?
I think let's just be patient and see if he can make it back on the field. Anything after that is gravy.
How is Adrien Robinson coming along? they didnt speak about him during the year, will he have a chance for a starting TE job?
If Bennett returns, no. I think Robinson is still developing. But if no Bennett, then we have to see who they bring in.
Do you think that the Giants should select Notre Dame LB Mante Te'o in the First Round oof the 2013 NFL Draft?
I like Te'o but I think the Giants are better off going with a defensive lineman or offensive lineman at 19. I'm not concerned with Te'o's catfishing thing. But more concerned with if he is fast enough and big enough to be a full-time MLB for the Giants. I don't know that he would be.
Based on a recent interview, it seems like Cruz is getting a bit frustrated by the lack of progress on a new deal with the Giants. Are you still optimistic that something gets done?
I'm optimistic that the Giants will tender him as a RFA and continue to try to work something out.
So any chance we will see the Honey Badger in Blue this upcoming season.
I think that would be pretty cool but it certainly is starting to look like if the Giants were to want him they might have to invest a third rounder in him.
Do you see Teo lasting til the 19th pick and would the Giants grab him if he is there?
I do think he could be there and my gut is that the Giants may pass and go for a DL or OL or if somebody else drops to them.
Alright guys, thanks for the questions this week! See you all next week!
