Hello, everybody ... Let's get this chat rolling.
So Rose is cleared to play. Does this change your position on his return time?
I think it's 50/50 as to whether or not he returns this season now.
Nick, what are the chances Nate Robinson is a Bull next year?
Nick, hope all is well with you. I was wondering who you think has the most trade value between Boozer and Gibson?
Well since Boozer doesn't have any because of his contract -- I'd say Gibson.
Hello Nick, Noah's minutes seem a little down these last few games. Has Thibs seen the light or is this just a blip?
It's just a blip. Noah will be in there as much as his feet allow down the stretch.
Say Rose comes back. What type of impact does he have?
Emotionally it would be off the charts. His teammates would love to have him on the floor. On the court, I think there will be an adjustment that everyone would need to go through. It will take some time for everyone to get used to playing with him again.
Teague got some significant minutes from Thibs last game. Any liklihood that will continue? I'd rather see him develop than Nate throwing up bricks constantly.
It will continue if Robinson keeps missing all those shots.
Seems like everyone is freaking out about Derrick, but can you talk about the rest of the injury news? Specifically, is it merely unlucky theat everyone is getting hurt or is Thibs to blame, or even, do they have a bad training staff? It doesn't make total sense, the players are dropping like flies
I think every team deals with injuries during this point of the season. The Bulls knew that Rip and Hinrich had injury concerns when they signed them so they shouldn't be surprised those two haven't stayed healthy. As for Taj, I think it was just an unlucky play. Taj and Hinrich will be back at some point ... I don't think even Thibs has any clue when Rip will be back.
I respect that Rose doesn't want to play until he feels 100% confident mentally, but on the other hand, I don't see how he can get to that point without playing. I think he needs to get out there and push himself to get over that mental hurdle before next season. Am I right?
Many people within the organization feel the same way you do. The thing is they don't want to put any more pressure on him than is already there. That's why I think it's 50/50 as to whether he returns or not.
Nick, If D. Rose decides to sit even though he's medically healthy to play what effect do you think this will have with the players, the bulls organization, and the fans. Also, when is D. Rose going to stand up on his own and say something and not let team rose do it for him because he is part of the blame for this whole hyped up "return".
I don't think it will have any impact on his relationship with the players. The players love him. They want him to do whatever he is comfortable with. I do think it was a mistake by all involved not to have Derrick speak more frequently. The secrecy surrounding how he is doing has not helped anyone.
what game/day do you think would be best for Drose to come back?
I don't think one is better than any other at this point. If he feels like he is ready then he should play.
What steps are left in Derricks return?
I think the big one is him feeling like he can dunk the same way off of his left foot. He has to feel confident that he can plant and explode the same way. Right now, it doesn't sound like he feels confident in doing that.
What do you think has been the biggest disappointment this year? Teague? Boozer?
Up to this point, I would say Nazr Mohammed's lack of production off the bench. But he has been playing a little better of late.
Scenario 1: D. Rose comes back and the Bulls make it to at least the Eastern Conference finals. What does Bulls management do in terms of who they are going after next year and who is likely to get amnestied or traded in the offseason. Scenario 2: Regardless if Rose comes back or not the Bulls exit the playoffs with a first round exit. What does Bulls management do in terms of who they are going after next year and who is likely to get amnestied or traded in the offseason.
I don't think much will change either way ... no matter how deep the Bulls go in the playoffs. With the way their cap situation is -- this is the Bulls team next season for better or worse.
What are your thoughts on the team since the all-star break? Aside from the injuries, do you think they're just starting to run out of gas?
Yes, I do. I think this is a very tired team right now. They have played as hard as they can but they know they need a lift soon, in the form of Rose's return, in order to play at a high level.
Nick, why don't the Bulls just pay the tax to get Derrick some more help at SG? Do they want fans or enemies? I don't even live in Chicago and I'm very frustrated with management.
This is the crux of the problem: Who is out there that the Bulls could even go get? Who makes them that much better that is readily available?
Will Rose's return be bigger than the Blackhawks winning streak
NICK IF PLAYING IS PART OF THE RECOVERY WHY DO YOU THINK DERRICK IS STALLING DONT YOU THINK IT IS HURTING IS CONFIDENCE
My only guess is he must not feel he can play at the same level yet. It's his body -- he has to make the decision.
If D-Rose comes back during the season how is Thibs going to work him back into the rotation? How many minutes do think he'll play in his first couple games? Also, do you think having D-Rose back is going to help Teague develop into a better player?
To the first part, I think Derrick will play about 15-20 minutes a game when he does return. For the second part, I think Teague will be helped greatly. Derrick spent a lot of time talking to him during that game in Indy and will help him a lot as his career continues.
I'm out of here, guys. If you're at a game this week come over and say hello.
