Brandon is here!
Brandon, since you've already been in the ring with Alvarado, what are you expecting him to do different the second time around?
Honestly, I don't see there is anything he can do different. We've been thinking, what can he do differently? He could try boxing more, but it will end up the same way.
Question For Brandon - Who is your favourite boxer of all time
Julio Ceasar Chavez Sr. Arturo Gatti.
How big is it getting to fight in Vegas?
It's cool. I don't really think about that. I don't let it distract me. Everyone always wants to fight in Vegas. It's cool. I love it. As long as there is a ring and opponent. I don't care who I fight.
Hey Brandon. Many fans and experts are picking you to win again by knockout. Do u feel this fight will be easieer than the first?
It won't be easy. That's why I had a closed camp, like in the first one. I was focused. This second one, I was even more focused. He's coming to revenge his loss. I have to be on my toes for this one.
Why do you think some boxers have better knockout power than others despite training equally as hard and having same or similar weight? Is knock out power something that can be developed or something innate/natural?
I guess it's just the way we throw our punches. The way we set them up. I don't know. I just go in there and I fight the way I fight. That's a tuogh one to answer.
Brandon, what do you feel is going to be the determining factor in this fight?
I want to be the best. It will be an equal fight again. It will be where either one can hurt each other. It could go either way. I want to get rid of this guy once and for all so I don't have to worry about him any more.
How do you approach a fight against someone for the second time?
The way I come up to him is we've seen him. Training camp has been tremendous. I hired a strength and conditioning coach. In the fight, I have to approach it smarter. We'll correct things and we'll be ready for it.
Brandon, assuming this fight will be a punisher like the last one, how much does the choice of referee affect you in the ring? Last time, you drew Pat Russell; this time, it's Tony Weeks. Some refs will two boxers punish each other more than others before stopping a fight. How much might this change the course of your bout on Saturday? Also, if it goes to the judges versus being a stoppage, would that concern you>
No. I'm going to go in there and prepare the way I did the first time. I don't worry about the ref. He'll do their job. If they see a fighter hurt, they'll take care of him. I'm not the ref, I'm the fighter. I've never been worried about the refs. They're doing their jobs. We just go out to battle.
Are you expecting anything new from Alvarado or do you plan on fighting similar to the first fight?
He says he has tricks. He says he has this and that. But he's going to come and fight. He'll try to do what he did in the first fight. But at the end of the day, it will be the same and we'll be fighting.
Are you looking forward to the Mayweather - Guerrero fight and who are you picking?
Honestly, I'm going with Guerrero. I don't know why. I like the underdogs all of the time. I'm going with Guerrero.
Which past fighters do you compare yourself with? Is Arturo Gatti one you would like to be compared to?
I don't try to compare myself, but I have a similar style as him. He fights the same as I do, he comes out to the wall. He leaves everything out there. So yeah, I guess you can say that I am similar to him in a lot of ways.
How what do u think ur highest weight might be in the future
I don't even know yet. I could probably 140, 147, maybe 154 could be the highest. You never know. I might make it to heavyweight. You never know.
Big fan bam bam. I know you're only focused on Alvarado (as you should be) but you have to have something in mind if/when you get the win saturday. Any thoughts?? Marquez, Bradley?
You're absolutely correct. I haven't been focused on anybody. This is all that's been on my mind. I don't like to talk about other fighters until I'm done with this. This is what I have right now.
How much would you weigh on average day
I walk around at 155-160 when I'm not training for a fight.
worst part abouty training camp?
Honestly, there really isn't a worst part. I love to train. I love to train very hard. The dieting gets old after a while. Eating the same food over and over again. You want to eat McDonalds. You want to eat the steak.
after you win, what's the first thing you're going to eat?
I don't really know! I've been craving Sonic. I don't know why. I guess it's a Kansas thing. I'm from there and that's the best burger out there. I have to win, so I can have my strawberry milkshake. Maybe Sonic. That sounds very yummy.
Bam Bam, do you feel there's less pressure on you now that you're at a more comfortable weight?
Well yeah. The last five pounds I don't have to drain myself completely. I'm just ready to go out there and give the fans what they want. I can show my ability even better.
Apart from yourself who do you think the best boxer in training is right now??? (bam bam obviously no.1)
At 140? It's me. I will be the best one coming up. I can't think about anyone better than me. If I do, then I will never be the best. I'm the best one out there.
Can you talk about how Robert Garcia has affected your career and your relationship with other fighters at his gym?
It's always a blessing with Robert. He knows how hard it is to go on diets and train for the fights. I take everything he says and listen to his instructions and advice. It's a blessing working with Robert.
To all my fans, especially those in the UK, thank you for the support! You'll see a good fight. I love you guys for the support. It will be another war on Saturday night.
Thanks for chatting Brandon! Next up is Mike Alvarado at 2:30 p.m. ET! Send in your questions!
Mike is here!
Mike, you boxed good in the first fight. I know you love to brawl, but will you plan to box more this time around?
Yes. That's the adjustment we made this camp. To box more. To put more movement to this fight and to win. More boxing and more movement. Frustrate him. Stay away from getting in there and brawling.
Hey Mike, Do you feel more powerful and in better physical shape for this fight than the first one?
I feel in better shape. I had a very strategic camp. We worked more on strategy this time around. With my boxing ability, my strength and conditioning has been very natural for me. Fighting smarter this fight.
Did you watch the last fight at all to see if there was anything you could do differently?
Yeah, we went over it and watched it. There is a lot more I can do differently. Fight my fight not his. Keep him outside. That's my goal.
How hard is it to get in the ring and throw away the gameplan and just go after the guy in the ring and be aggressive?
When I didn't prepare for that kind of fight and I didn't use the boxing skills, it's really hard. I've been staying focused this camp to overcome being put in that position for that kind of fight. Sticking to the gameplan this time around. Focusing on that.
Hey Mike. Obviously you're looking to avenge your loss. But does it give you added motivation knowing that other fighters like Tim Bradley, Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez are taking interest in fighting the winner of you two?
Yeah, that's motivating to me. That's a dream fight that I would love to have. Knowing the outcome of this fight will lead to bigger and better fights is definitely more motivating.
Do you feel that you could have won the last fight? What can you do differently this time around?
Yes, definitely. I was fighting just to fight that fight. I didn't prepare for his type of style. It was anybody's fight. If I didn't get caught, I would have won that fight. I would have stopped him in the later rounds. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I have another chance.
Hey Mike, good luck Sat nite, how do you keep from getting discouraged? i mean last fight you hit this guy with punches that hurt me watching at home!!!
The preparation from my camp, I have so much preparation for this fight. That's his main goal is to throw me into his fight. My mental preparation is big. I've proved that I can fight. Now it's a smarter gameplan.
Hi Mike, is your plan to box more and stay on the outside using your jab and skills to try and frustrate him or would you prefer to brawl again like the first time?
Yes, that's exactly what's going to happen. Using my jab and feints and movement will frustrate him even more and throw him out of his gameplan.
Team alvarado all day cant wait to see the 5280 hooks dem 303 jabs and the mile high uppercuts!!!!! Have u picked out an entrance song yet???? and r u fighting with the same glove weight and ring size as the last???
Yes, one of my buddies made this song for this fight.
Do you view a more strategic approach as being more disciplined than being "sucked in" to brawling with Rios?
My sparring partner helped me out a lot with that. And my trainer. We stuck to our gameplan all camp, to move. I dealt with a lot of pressure through this camp. Being used to that for weeks was plenty of time to prepare for this style.
hey mike, what your favourite meal???
Pasta. I always go after pasta after the fight is over.
worst part about training camp?
The toughest is probably the diet. Not being able to eat what I want to eat. Sticking to a strict diet is probably the worst thing.
Mike, will you give Brandon an immediate rematch after you beat him on Saturday?
It would be a possibility. But I think it will end up going to a bigger fight and then maybe a rematch afterward.
Mike, what is your advice to aspiring boxers?
With hard work and dedication, the sky is the limit. Staying focused on the dreams. Dream, believe and you can achieve your dreams.
how many rounds did you spar?
At least up to 100 rounds.
weight lifting? Conditioning?
A lot of strength and conditioning for this fight. Just like every fight.
If fans BOO because you decide to box, can that force you to go toe to toe again.
You can't block that out. I'm already looking forward to the fans wanting more, looking for more. But I can block it out. I'm staying focused on my boxing abilities.
Mike, I also asked Brandon this question and would like your take. Assuming this fight will be a punisher like the last one, how much does the choice of referee affect you in the ring? Last time, you drew Pat Russell; this time, it's Tony Weeks. Some refs will two boxers punish each other more than others before stopping a fight. How much might this change the course of your bout on Saturday? Also, if it goes to the judges versus being a stoppage, would that concern you.
The referee does have an impact. The last fight, I thought was a premature stop. Some fights go back and forth. The ref in this fight is very well experienced in those kinds of fights. I'm confident in this ref.
Thanks to all the fans for your support. Tune in Saturday for a great fight. God bless!
