Thanks for joining me. Let's get started ...
Any chance Familia moves back to the rotation at some point or do you think he is viewed only as a bullpen arm now?
Bobby Parnell looks like the closer long term. If Familia succeeds, he'll slide later in games. More likely, he ends up back in Las Vegas soon. Once Shaun Marcum is activated, Aaron Laffey probably sticks in the long relief role and the Mets will need to demote someone. Frank Francisco has started a rehab assignment and should be back within a couple of weeks too.
Are the mets trying to make a trade to get Giancarlo Stanton?
As much as 28 other teams are.
Adam hi, can u give us a scouting report on st. Lucie ss tj riveria.ever since he signed with the mets his nothing but hit. Does the front office think his a real prospect. Also u think Nimmo gets promoted to st.lucie at mid season?
Wrote this about him last year: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/44167/farm-report-bronx-cheer-for-rivera
How long will TDA be out for?
Sandy Alderson said he would not know until Mets doctors take a look at him on Friday. My pure guess is at least a couple of months.
Hi Adam, can you tell us a little bit about the 'other guy' in theDickey trade, Wulimer Beccera, is he just throw in or does the team have high hopes for him down the road?
He received more than a $1 million signing bonus out of Venezuela by the Jays, so he's more than a throw-in. His first season as a pro was cut short by getting hit in the face with a baseball.
Valdespin should be playing every day in right field. Byrd and Baxter make nice back-ups/pinch hitters. Nieuwenhuis should be playing center every day in Vegas. Which means that they need to get a real centerfielder. Thoughts?
It is what it is.
Hi Adam - great work covering all things Mets. The great start by the offense has helped to compensate Ike Davis' 2nd slow start. Will he get the same amount of patience to straighten himself out from the team this year?
The reality is that there are not really alternatives. I suppose you could put Lucas Duda at first base. But while there is a volume of outfielders, it's not like it's so deep there.
Adam - if the pitching staff continues to stumble can we anticipate Familia being the 1st of many call ups to be made over the next couple of months?
It's not like there are a ton of relief candidates to be called up.
How close is WIlmer Flores to being an MLB 2B? Asking as I really do not want to see the Mets trade Murph to an AL team at the trading deadline. Thoughts?
Wilmer is probably a September call-up. I know mobility is a little less important at second base, but I don't think he has exceptional range.
Now that we're a few weeks into the season, do you see the mets finishing over .500 this year?
I'll stick with my 66-win prediction.
When and if both Feliciano and Francisco are promoted, who are the roster casualties in the 25 man roster and also in the 40 man roster?
There are always injuries and stuff, but Familia and Laffey would be most logical, unless they want to go to one lefty in the pen.
Any chance Josh Satin gets a shot with the big club?
He is off the 40-man roster. And there's a crunch of 40-man roster spots. So he's really going to need to force the issue with his play. He's at about .350 so far, so he'll need to keep that up over a sustained period.
Adam - is one of the reasons the front office is looking to accumulate and develop young power arms because they have more potential trade value than minor league position players?
Haven't heard that explicitly, but makes sense.
My friend told me that he wouldn't trade Wheeler straight up for Stanton. Please tell him he's crazy.
I think 30 out of 30 GMs make that trade.
Do you think the starting pitching troubles can be attributed to the cold? Or are Gee and Niese just not that great.
Gee had a very rough spring training too. Niese has been fine. Not sure why you would include him.
Looks like you guys are taking it easy on me this week. Thanks for joining me.
