Eric is here!
how much travel have you been doing? how many team visits have you been on?
I've been on five team visits and I've been traveling more than I have in my life!
It seems like there are a lot of elite OL in this draft...what does it mean to be coming into the NFL with such a talented group of OL?
It's great. The competition has really brought the best out in me.
Eric, how strange is it that you're doing a promotion with your mom? Ever think that would happen?
Not at all. I never thought that would be happening. It's a pretty cool experience.
How much of the predraft talk have you listened too?
I try not to pay attention to it at all. You kind of have to block that stuff out. The mocks don't have a pick.
How did you get hooked up with Tide?
It was an endorsement that they're doing. All of the first picks of the 32 teams get a representative. We've got an endorsement deal that we're spreading the #AboutOurColors.
Have you been able to take a step back and think about what's going on in your life right now? You're about to get drafted into the NFL! How awesome is that?
It is absolutely the greatest thing that's happened to me. But I really don't have time right now to step back and look at it.
Since you're talking about uniform colors, how strange will it be for you to not wear Central Michigan colors any more next season?
I think it will be just like going from high school to college. On to the next step, the next level and on to the next team.
What are your draft day plans?
I know we're going to the children's hospital in the morning. Then we're getting ready and hitting the red carpet. Hopefully I'll get my name called and do whatever that team tells me to.
Have you picked out your draft day outfit?
Yeah, I had a suit made. I haven't even seen it yet. Hoping to look pretty good on draft day.
Most of the people I've read say you'll go early in the draft, so how nervous will you be until you hear your name?
I'm not nervous. I think whatever's meant to be will happen. I just trust that. I'll be fortunate to play for any team.
How bizarre was it at the combine when you were being weighed and measured? Did you just feel like cattle?
I think that's exactly what I felt like. They just line us up and when your name is called you have to go up there in front of, I think, 1,100 people.
That's what I was given.
Do you have a defensive player in the NFL that you watched growing up that you are looking forward to playing against and perhaps pancaking?
I think it would be pretty cool to go against Clay Matthews and his new contract.
What do you say to the critics that hold it against you that you played in a smaller conference?
I think the last four months I've answered all of the questions, going against the competition and my athletic ability.
What would it mean to you if you were drafted #1 overall?
It would be a dream come true. My goal in this would be to get drafted as high as possible. That's as high as I can go.
What do you think separates you from the other OTs in the draft?
My work ethic is what I really take pride in. I'm going to outwork everyone.
Has any team shown more interest in you than another?
No, they all hold their cards really close so you can't get a good reading.
Is there any offensive scheme you're hoping to get drafted into?
Not necessarily. I just like playing football.
did you ever think growing up you'd be in this position?
This has gone way farther than I ever dreamed, but it's always been my dream to play in the NFL.
Any strange questions from NFL teams when they interview you and did one in particular stand out?
Honestly, not really. There was nothing that I didn't expect.
Would you rather go no. 1 overall to the Chiefs, or no. 5 to the Lions and stay close to home?
That's a tough one. I think either way I'd be blessed to play for either of those teams. Being a top five pick is really my goal right now.
Thank you for all of the support. Hopefully we can make my dream come true this Thursday and I can play for one of these 32 NFL teams.
