Ohm
  (1:00 PM)

Hey guys, happy draft day!

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

Who do you think will Replace Osi Umenyiora on the Giants Roster since Umenyiora is now with the Falcons?

Ohm
  (1:01 PM)

I think the Giants will start JPP and Tuck and Mathias Kiwanuka will slide into Osi's rotation spot. Giants haven't made it official but I have to think that this will happen.

Pete (MI)

Sparty sucks.

Ohm
  (1:02 PM)

Bye bye Trey. Bye bye Hardaway. It was fun while it lasted.

jim va.beach [via mobile]

Hey ohm. Who's your pick for the giants in first round?

Ohm
  (1:03 PM)

If Fluker is there, I am told Giants want him. If he's gone, told Giants will look safety to Texas' Kenny Vaccaro and LSU's Eric Reid. Since I think Fluker and Vaccaro will probably be gone. I'm probably going with Reid.

Andrew (Englewood Cliffs)

Ohm, it's been a minute my dude. Where you got Denard Robinson going in the draft?

Ohm
  (1:04 PM)

Hey Andrew! Good question. Hard to predict. My guess is 4th round or later. But you never know. All I know is this, I was always scared facing his speed whenever Michigan State played Michigan. He's incredibly fast and I feel teams can always find a place for that kind of speed.

Martin (NY)

You've mentioned Vacarro and Fluker as two prospects the Giants have interest in, and based on mock drafts that I've seen, that makes sense. However, I've read Eric Reid is more of a second round prospect. You really think the Giants would reach for him over a Trufant or Hayden, for example, if the other two are gone?

Ohm
  (1:05 PM)

I thought same thing but there are people who do think Reid grades out as a first-round prospect. If the Giants think he is not going to be there when they pick in the second round, they are going to have to take him at 19. Then maybe grab a CB or pass rusher or linebacker in second round.

Josh (Syracuse, NY)

Seems like a lot of teams are trying to trade back into the first round, any chance the Giants take a deal to move back?

Ohm
  (1:05 PM)

Giants do not typically trade up or trade down. But never say never. But I'd be surprised if they did.

Doug B (Tampa)

Assuming top guards (cooper/warmack) off the board, any chance giants pass on fluker if there at 19?

Ohm
  (1:05 PM)

Yes, I believe that is the guy they want.

Joshua (Corvallis)

If Tavon Austin is off the board and both Millner and Dion Jordan are there at 9, which player do you the Jets going with?

Ohm
  (1:07 PM)

I think Rich Cimini believes Jets will take Austin and Vaccaro. I guess if Tavon is gone and Milliner was there, I would love to see Milliner for them to replace Revis. Jordan would be terrific as well since they need a dynamic pass rusher. If I had to choose between the two for the Jets, I'd probably go Jordan if they think he's the real deal.

Mike (Blacksburg, VA)

Do you think Reese with draft for need, or take the best player available?

Ohm
  (1:08 PM)

BPA on his board which always contains a hint of need as well.

Andiamo (NYC)

You are killing me here with Fluker. But I'll go along with it. Who do you like in the 2nd?

Ohm
  (1:09 PM)

Why? Fluker is a monster. Look, all I am saying is what I am hearing. I heard Randle last year and the considered him in first round before getting him in second after taking Wilson. This year I am hearing Fluker, then Vaccaro and then Reid and if all three are gone, Eifert comes into play. As for second round, I'd really like to see them come away with pass rusher or corner. I think those are two major needs after OL.

Anthony (NJ)

Hey Ohm, have you heard any new draft rumors regarding the Gmen? Also is there a chance the giants trade down?

Ohm
  (1:09 PM)

Just what I've said earlier. Don't see them trading down. But I won't say never.

Martin (NY)

How strong is the Giants interest in some of the D-line prospects tonight? What are you hearing regarding Werner, Carradine, and others?

Ohm
  (1:11 PM)

Just heard that they like other guys than DE at 19. Sounds like Werner is not what they want at 19. Carradine... may be concerns over his health around the league. Have to wait and see. It sounds like Giants may go defensive end after first round.

Josh (Syracuse, NY)

I think moving back in the draft would make a lot of sense. Fluker doesn't seem like a sure thing, Ogletre and Teo have issues, and they don't seem high on any CB. I say move back and stock pile a few mid-round picks

Ohm
  (1:11 PM)

Got it Josh Reese. LOL!

tom (NY)

do you think Eifert will be on the board at 19? and if he is, why wouldnt the Giants take him? i think its a no brainer

Ohm
  (1:12 PM)

All I'm hearing is Eifert comes into play after Fluker and the safeties.

Martin (NY)

Apparently, the Giants have increased their offer to Cruz recently. He also has reiterated his desire to stay in NY. Considering Mara's recent comments, do you get the sense that a deal is imminent?

Ohm
  (1:12 PM)

Mara sounded pretty optimistic on Monday night. I don't know about imminent but I've always felt there's a good chance they work something out.

Boone (Yonkers, NY)

Reese has said they want a someone who can play right away. Makes me feel possible LB if Fluker is gone instead of safety with Rolle and Brown starting next season. Do they really want a safety first round to start the season on the bench?

Ohm
  (1:14 PM)

I think the odds are whomever they draft at 19 will not be somebody who comes in and plays right away. Fluker might have a chance to start at RT but even if they take a linebacker, that guy may not start over Dan Connor or Jacquian or Rivers. Even if they draft a corner, that guy likely will not start over Webster and Prince. Even if they draft a pass rusher, that guy is not starting. Whomever they pick tonight, the hope in my mind is that their biggest impact comes in 2014 when you got like two dozen starters/contributors with expired contracts.

Mike (NY)

Any chance the the Giants target Tyrann Matheiu?

Ohm
  (1:15 PM)

Honey Badger says he doesn't think so. Just a gut feeling... after seeing Jerry talk about Honey Badger in his press conference, my guess is no. LOL.

Ohm
  (1:15 PM)

And what I mean by that is he was a bit more expansive than normal and he usually doesn't say much about anybody.

Andrew (New Jersey)

What up Ohm? Am I the only one that thinks that safety of cornerback is what the Giants should target in the 1st rd? I would love to see Kenny Vaccaro to fall to 19 or pick up Trufant or Hayden

Ohm
  (1:17 PM)

If the Giants feel safety is best value at 19, then that's good. Remember, Rolle will be in final year of deal in 2014 and he will make base of $7 million that year. Brown is on one-year tender. I think they definitely need a corner out of this draft as well.

Andiamo (NYC)

nothing against Fluker personally. I actually like him more than Warmack (I like Cooper the most, but w/e). Just hope they can address DE and CB as early as possible

Ohm
  (1:17 PM)

I totally agree on DE and CB. You've been reading. LOL.

Antrel Rolle (New York)

What are the chances Vaccaro falls to 19? I could use another playmaker in the secondary with me with Kenny gone to Philly?

Ohm
  (1:18 PM)

I told you last night at the ESPN Pre-Draft party 'Trel. LOL.

Boone (Yonkers, NY)

I use to be a Jets fan, but cannot take them anymore so I am officially switching to a Giants fan. Smart decision by me?

Ohm
  (1:19 PM)

Boone, I welcome all fans, Giants, Jets, Spartans and even those who root for that ugly yellow (not Maize) and blue. But I would say you might not need to wait as long as you have for a Super Bowl title. Might be better for your health and blood pressure. LOL. But be prepared to experience 6-2 starts followed by head-scratching swoons.

AA (Allentown)

How much cap room left? Chances any vets brought back for depth for vet minumum since they haven't caught on anywhere else (Tollefson, Boley, Jacobs)?

Ohm
  (1:21 PM)

AA, first they got to make sure they got enough cap to sign their rookies. Which I think they do. And then it is bargain shopping time to see who is available. Boley and Tollefson are definite possibilities. I won't discount Jacobs either. Got to see what they come out of the draft as well. Remember, only so many roster spots. But Boley a possibility.

Robert (Brooklyn)

is their a chance they take either ogletree or teo in the 1st rd

Ohm
  (1:22 PM)

Been told unlikely on Te'o. Haven't heard Ogletree among their top targets yet.

Patrick (Hoboken)

Any chatter about Honey Badger or Lattimore in giant land? 2 big talents with lots of ?s.

Ohm
  (1:25 PM)

Sorry for the delay. Got bounced. Badger thinks Giants will pass on him because "they have to play their cards right." Lattimore... my guess would be he would have to fall. I think Giants have needs to use in mid round as opposed to take a risk on a RB who had such a catastrophic injury.

Josh (Syracuse, NY)

Non-draft related question: Coach Ingram said RB will be a competition in camp and no one has won the job yet. Do you believe him? Follow up, is Brown's prediction of 22 TD's realistic? I'm thinking no.

Ohm
  (1:26 PM)

Yes I do... look, Wilson could start. But I expect a time share plain and simple no matter who starts. As for Brown's prediction, probably not because of the share of carries but he's the bet to lead the team in TDs as the goal line guy.

tom (NY)

Eli makes below average tight ends into viable options. and gets them paid. Boss Bennett etc. give him a TE that can walk into the league and be a top 5 player at his position.. i think its match made in heaven. lets face it.. the league is changing. every defense gives up points.. offense wins championships. who do u think they should take? not what you are hearing, your own opinion?

Ohm
  (1:27 PM)

If there's a stud DE there at 19, I'd go DE. But I don't think there will be one. So I would go OL or cornerback at 19 if it were me. But I'm not the one with the rings. And I don't question Jerry Reese.

Andy (DC)

Ohm - you're the best and thanks for taking time each week to chat with us! How do the Giants feel about Trufant? Seems some boards have him going there. Love your work my man.

Ohm
  (1:28 PM)

Thanks Andy. Where you from in DC? I'd like the Trufant pick. Giants need a corner for the future to go with Prince and Hosley.

Newt (Jacksonville)

Tje Giants may not of drafted an LB in the first round since Banks, but weren't they hot on Rolando McClain a few years back? I don't think it's an impossibility to see an LB tonight.

Ohm
  (1:29 PM)

That was the thinking. And good thing they didn't get him right? Last linebacker they took high was Sintim in second round in '09 right? There's got to be a reason why they don't go linebacker high. Not impossible I suppose.

Martin (NY)

How much does perceived positional depth come into play? Seems to me that there's a lot of good secondary players (at both safety and cb) that the Giants can get in Rd. 2 and later rounds.

Ohm
  (1:31 PM)

I agree Martin. But if they like somebody a lot and think he won't be there later, you go with who you like. Kind of like a fantasy draft. Sometimes the best thinking is grabbing who you really want no matter how deep the position is. You don't want to be caught in a run on a certain position and draft out of sync.

Korean Zombie (New Jersey)

Will the Giants miss Kenny Phillips? I think they will more than they think

Ohm
  (1:32 PM)

Korean Zombie... what ya think of Psy's new song? I kind of think it's catchy. LOL. As for KP, yeah, it's possible. But if the Giants let him walk for not that big of a deal with Philly, got to believe they felt he wasn't the same guy anymore. They would know this better than anybody else.

Newt (Jacksonville)

What are the Giants' feelings on Will Hill and his ability to take on a bigger role at S?

Ohm
  (1:33 PM)

I think they liked the flashes he showed last year but got to see if he can keep progressing and keep showing that he is the real deal. But if they are thinking safety in the first round at 19, they clearly think they need another starting safety for the future.

Robert (staten island)

Who do the gmen have interest in the later rounds

Ohm
  (1:34 PM)

Don't know much about that yet. Hard to figure out because visits can be smoke screens, etc.

Martin (NY)

In previous years of covering Reese's draft, how many times have you been completely surprised by who he ended up taking in the 1st round?

Ohm
  (1:35 PM)

I was surprised that Prince dropped a few years ago but not surprised Giants picked him. Wilson was a little bit of a surprise but I did hear his name pop up late that day of the draft. Wasn't surprised that they picked a RB but that they did in the first round.

Anthony (Bergenfield, NJ)

Hey Ohm, happy draft day. I read today that the Vikings and Bears both want Teo. Have you heard anything about the Vikings trading with the Giants to jump in front of the Bears?

Ohm
  (1:35 PM)

Have not heard anything about a trade but that doesn't mean it won't happen. Just think that Giants stand pat.

dave (hackensack)

Hi Ohm, are you surprised that Boley or Tollefson (or even Jacobs for that matter) haven't been picked up by other squads yet? would love to see Tollefson back in the rotation, Boley however is getting a bit long in the tooth, and I could deal without watching Jacobs getting 1/2 yard on 4th and 1, and always being injured

Ohm
  (1:36 PM)

With the way the market is and how little veterans were getting, not surprised. I did think Boley would get some nibbles but maybe he has and it just hasn't come out.

Andy (DC)

How did you put that Canty story out while talking to all of us?! #multifaceted!

Ohm
  (1:37 PM)

Talent son. Talent.

Korean Zombie (New Jersey)

Psy's new song is okay, but not as good as gangnam style,

Ohm
  (1:37 PM)

Agreed. But I like the beat. LOL.

Newt (Jacksonville)

What's the best path that the Giants can take for combating the read option this weekend? Because it's here to stay in Washington and Philly, and the results weren't great at FedEx Field last year.

Ohm
  (1:37 PM)

In my mind: Speed and athleticism.

mike (bronx)

what are the chances of them taking justin pugh the ot out of syracuse if fluker and the safties are gone

Ohm
  (1:38 PM)

Haven't heard his name outside of the mock drafts associated with Giants but doesn't mean it's not possible. Anything is possible guys. LOL.

Ohm
  (1:38 PM)

Alright guys, thanks for the questions. Got to go back to work. Hope the Giants take the guy you all want tonight.
